I love how you can see the time people spent in writing those ads and how they actually care where the animal goes and who will look after them , it’s heartbreaking actually to see someone who genuinely cares about an animal have to give it up
I’ve only ever seen one. They had a big bin cage and were selling the cage and supplies because their hamster passed. I got all three of my Carolina storm wheels from this woman. It made me happy to know that her hamster lived a long and good life.
I'm sorry, off topic, I immediately thought of Jenna Marble's hamster Ad, that sadly passed away. He was so cute, and Jenna changed when her fans told her that the cage etc waa wrong. Anyway, I definitely agree with you though
I got my cat, Milo, from a shelter when he was a kitten (2 months) and he’s such a good boy. Only black cat in the litter and he stole my heart. I found my best friend, so adopt don’t shop.
Kit Kat not shopping will cause those puppies to go to shelters and keep them over populated. So what good is that doing? You also could’ve supported a backyard breeder and/or kitten mill.
Cecilia The Lps Im saying shopping as in finding a GOOD breeder. Not a bad one. I fully support good breeders. Not mills, backyard breeders ect ect. I might’ve worded it wrong sorry.
I am gonna go drive to a rescue to get my second longhaired Syrian today, I am so excited. He is cream banded and has red eyes, been at the shelter for a year and 2 months about, most likely because he and his brother have red eyes and people tend to find them creepy. When I saw them, I would have loved to take both in, they are so so adorable and fluffy men, but I don't have the space or money for 3 hammies :( It is going to be my first adoptee, which has been my dream for quite a while. A friend will be driving me and the rescue "Mama" I've been talking to is the sweetest thing. She was phoning me earlier and it seems I will be going home with an entire gigantic bag full of cage decors and setups when I go get the furry friend later. You actually inspired me to finally plan things through and take on the challenge of getting a second hammy adopted, so thank you thank you! I am so so excited to finally meet "Mick" the redeyed hammy and give him a good home
This was important to make! Today I convinced two people to adopt dogs instead of buying. Since you have so many hamsters I thought it would be cool to see a room tour! I understand UA-cam is hard and you upload twice a week but just a little suggestion! Love you, your videos and your pets!
it’s very telling how a lot of these adverts were dog adverts. I think it’s proof of how people tend to value certain animals’ wellbeing above others. also the way munchie looks so happy when she sees proper animal husbandry is real cute
When I get older I’ve already planned my life😂 I’m gonna adopt a hamster and give it the best life possible, and work in a pet store so then I can give good advice for pets x
You sound like me. I use to want to be a vet, then i hated the idea of blood so i thought i'd work at a zoo...that never happened. But then i wanted to work in rescue after watching animal cops when i was little and now that i'm older, animal control officers don't get paid much at all and mainly any shelter job is minimum wage which is not livable here in my state. So next best thing is working in a petshop. Now i want to own my own petshop for small animals or else open up a rescue like shop where people can walk in and see all of the critters for adoption, along with purchasing supplies and enclosures from me. That's my dream.
Working in a pet store won’t give you much money, if you live the USA you get a lot of money for zookeeping, so you can care for animals while giving advice when people ask you questions. When I’m older, (I like in the UK) zookeeping has a poor salary, so I’m going to work as a recuiter or investment banker which gives hella lot of money and I’m going to own a cat and spoil him/her with top notch products :)
I think it's also good to point out on the cat ad that they said they are somewhat unwilling to separate them, which is great, because if they are 10 years old and were littermates, that means they are a "bonded pair". You don't want to separate bonded cat pairs (especially in a new environment), because it can actually be bad for their health. Separated bonded pairs have been known to become depressed, anxious, and even to stop eating. So I'm happy they are trying to rehome them as a pair. It shows they really care about their well-being in my opinion. But that's just something I wanted to add as someone who loves cats and has a "special interest" towards them. ^_^
It's interesting, that in the USA rehoming fee is a good sign. I'm from Hungary and here if money involved in such ads, that's a bad sign. If I see an "adoption" with money involved, we can safely asume that we have a so called "propogator" who try to pose as a breeder. A "propogator" deliberately mates dogs/bunnies/hamsters/snakes/etc to get fructus, sells the babies with margin, for a little bit cheaper than an actual breeder. No rest time for the female, she's either pregnant, either nurses (in case of mammals, obv), than she is forced to mate again immidiatelly. She will end up in shelter when she is not able to repoduce anymore. No vet, small confinement, bad quality food. If I see a rehoming ad with money, it's safe to assume that the "propogator" wasn't able to sell every animal from the last litter, so they are trying to squeeze some money from the remaining animals, but probably the next litter is already on the way at that time. So for me the concept of "rehousing fee" is really wierd, but I understand the concept behind it. That's one big and interesting cultural difference!
That's a very interesting difference! We in america use adoption fee's to show that the person is willing to put money and time into an animal before taking it home. It decreases the chances of animal abuse, lab testing and people who don't have money but want a free animal that in the future may be neglected. An adoption fee is seen as a good thing to prevent torture or abuse. The way we can tell if someone is a propogator which we use the term "Backyard breeder" here is that we see the adoption fee being extremely high in price or that we notice the breeder is listing litters of puppies/kitties/rats/bunnies/hamsters/gerbils, you name it. I learned something new today. Thank you Eva for sharing. :)
Well, I've learned two things today: other than learning about the concept of rehousing fee, "backyard breeder" added to my english vocabulary. :) Thanks!
in the uk it's also a good sign to be asked for a rehoming fee, as we have a massive issue here with people advertising dogs free to a good home and them ending up being bait dogs for dog fighting
What an awesome change, it's so nice to see good ads! Adoption should always be people's first option, but if you are meeting up with someone please use common sense and be careful! I've read way too many stories where meet ups go wrong. Always meet in a public place and make sure to have at least one person with you. If they don't want to meet in a public place then it's definitely shifty and please don't meet them. When I sold my guinea pig I met up half an hour from where I lived at Walmart and had my dad with me, it's so much better to be safe than sorry! The great thing about adopting on websites like these is that when you come across good ads you usually get a pretty good deal. Someone who cares about their pet doesn't want to make a profit, and you can usually get everything they have for the pet for really cheap!
I dont adopt because most of them die on me so i rather go to a breeder that has healthy reptile or dogs that is my opinion not everyone can care for a pet that is in bad heath
I got my cat in a shelter when she was a year old, she was a beautiful chocolate point Siamese. She had a neglectful owner and wasn’t used to people. I’ve had her for six years and just recently she’s started sleeping on our laps. She’s a sweetheart.
Sadly about 2 years ago I had to rehome my three male guinea pigs. I really wanted to put them on CL but I had to get rid of them that day. So I brought them to a shelter that my friend's brother worked at. A few days later I was notified that they had been picked up by a local guinea pig rescue. I'm so glad that my boys got to go to a place that gave them the best care possible. One day I hope to open an exotic pet rescue so I can help other animals just like the people that rescued my boys.
It makes me so happy to see actually good ads for animals that are clearly loved and that the people actually care about where they go. I have my own animals but I always have one space open for a few different animals I slowly created my own little system where I looked specifically for emergency cases in ads where either they had medical issues or conditions were terrible. Or even if they would be going to a shelter or had been up for adoption for a long time or I don't think that the person will rehome them properly. Then I take them in and work on any training behaviour issues if medical problems can be managed or cured I will work with that and I will do the whole adoption process to rehome them myself. And if I think it's a good idea and either I can't find a suitable home or the animal needs a lot of work or simply if the animal fits in well with my life I have adopted them on a few occations. Although I will never take in any animals that I don't have space for or that I just dont have the suitable situation for that animal. I love your videos i love what you do and what you aim and stand for. The advice you give is amazing I really admire that^^
I just want to say Munchie you inspired me to do videos I am starting doing videos of my hamsters and stuff and I can't wait to get started thankyou so much Munchie !
Munchie nooooo 😫😫 I need hamster rescue updates!!!! In all seriousness, lol, I actually did really like this video. I agree 100% and would love to see more in the future!
When I was a kid, there were free puppies for anyone to take that were in a box. I begged my mother to let me get one, and she did. This easily could've been a nightmare situation, but we gave her the best love we could. At a year old, we ended up spending 20k in vet bills to save her life (free pets are never free). The vet didn't think she was going to make it and odds were very slim, but my parents risked it and spent the money anyway. She pulled through, though it was a long road to recovery. One night, the fire alarm wasn't working properly and trying to go off. Everyone was asleep and nobody had heard it. She could open doors, and went room to room waking everyone up so we could evacuate. Luckily there was no fire, but she made sure we were safe. She also saved my rescue dog's life after she managed to become tangled while everyone was sleeping. She woke my mom up and kept annoying her until she finally followed her to the room where my dog was hanging (it was absolutely horrific and nothing that could have been prevented because it was incredibly unusual how she had tangled herself). Because of her, my rescue dog is still alive to this day and will be 15 in March. It's been 6 years since my dog passed, but I still think about her every day and she's the best free dog we've ever gotten. (More continued, if anyone wants to read) Now that I'm an adult, I went to adopt my own dog 3 years ago. I wanted a puppy because I needed a companion who would meet very specific needs, and early training and socialization was a must. One day I found a gorgeous aussie elkhound mix that was 8 weeks old and had very unique markings. I talked to the owners, who could no longer keep her for 2 weeks before I could finally pick her up. On the day I went to get her as I was getting in my car for the 3 hour journey, they called me to tell me their kids found out and threw a temper tantrum so they changed their mind, even though they had been telling me how they couldn't keep it. This dog was going to be my hiking buddy, ESA, travel companion. Live a very active and adventurous life, have a great diet with access to medical care when ever needed and it broke my heart when they backed out last minute. Fast forward 2 years, I'm with the dog I ended up adopting (she's the best!) and I was browsing dogs for adoption again when I stumbled across a 2 year old dog who was an aussie elkhound mix, female, from the same exact area, with the same exact markings (you could tell by comparing photos). They had tied it outside to a tree with hardly any room to move and had been feeding it low quality cat food its entire life. I started crying, because that dog was going to BE SOMETHING and to see what became of it after I was turned down. To know they chose that life for the dog, over doing the right thing, and that they finally decided now that it was no longer small and cute, they'd get rid of it. I guess the kids lost interest. I tried to reach out to them, but they were very close minded and weren't open to me adopting. It broke my heart for a second time, and I always think about where that dog is now and hope it has a better life.
I loved this video! It was definitely a breath of fresh air! I also love that this shows people that not everything on Craigslist is terrible and it would be a good option to consider when getting a pet!
i adopted my dog off craigslist after seeing a picture of a baby holding him by his head. i couldn’t help but adopt him i felt so bad and i love him so much, he is my best friend!!
I got a hamster a few weeks ago. And she’s already tame when i go give her food she climbs on my hamd for playtime but when i hold her she shakes. Is that bescause she’s scared of me?
I4:48 believe in a 120 gallon minimum for an adult beardie with a playsand and topsoil mix for substrate (Impactions isn't a risk if you have proper care, especially the heating and lighting!). Tile works fine for babies, but can hurt the joints of an older beardie (especially for females). I wouldn't say that setup was bad though, looks like they are doing plenty of it right. It's better than a lot of what you might see, but there are some ways it could be improved.
I volunteer with a rabbit rescue and we use a network of foster homes to most our rabbits. We even had a pair in foster for a year before they found a forever home.
I got a 3 month old street kitten saved by a shelter, that was 2 years ago. She is sitting next to me right now and she is the sweetest cat I’ve ever seen and I loveeeeee her
Hey! I plan on creating a chain pet center if i can! Essentially, i create my own items that go in the store that are perfect for the animals, I only advertise safe products for a specific animal, and for every animal sold per store will have at least one expert on the species. And- all rescues. Free classes will be given for each animal, and every animal description will be accurate and not just some advertisement. On the site is an exotic vet for almost any pet. Lists of the bare minimum per animal will be next to different sections. Do’s and Dont’s will be on there as well. The only things that will be sold on the site will be COMPLETELY safe. Like no pine bedding :)
You're welcome :) Whenever i think of rehomed ads, i just think of the way shelters do it to increase the chances of finding a perfect home for that animals life style.
I recently had to put my dog and my sister’s on CL and it tore me apart but I moved in with my grandfather who found out he’s very allergic to them. I always went to meet the people that wanted them, if I didn’t like them they wouldn’t get them. The woman I gave my dog to texts me updates almost everyday and I love it so much. I cried when I had to walk her into their house because she kept trying to jump back in the car. God I miss them both so much but I am very happy with the houses I chose.
When my cat had kittens and we were giving them away my mom would ask every person a lot of questions like do you have kids or dogs are they friendly and there were I think 2 people that didn't want to answer some of the questions so my mom didn't give them a kitten
I adopted my hamster Link off of kijiji (canadian craigslist.) He was being neglected in a crittertrail. They would fill his huge food bowl to the top, same with his water, and just forget about him. He's big for a syrian and it broke my heart. He's doing so much better now. He's a sweetheart and very tame.
I foster animals so i fully support the idea. I'm guessing you're new to the channel? I have my own playlist filled with my foster hamsters and current cat. I talk about them all the time, especially with the last rescue. I also have an IG account for my Foster Home.
When I adopted my ball python chernobyl on ebay I made sure that I can keep the contact to the breeder/previous owner! She always checks on her old pet and gives me tips, you can really feel that she loved him a lot! When I first got him he went off feed for about a month so I was getting a little worried but last sunday he actually ate and I instantly told the breeder and she was as happy as I was!^^
I really wish people saying "no apartments" and "fensed in yard only", won't make exceptions no matter what, would reconsider! I have a pitbull service dog that's 80 lbs. Pitbulls are high energy. I live in an apartment. He's a service dog. He gets more exercise with both fetch and on purpose exercise and working which is also exercise. Expecially mobility work. I am now looking for my next service dog canidate as Chopper is now 5 and it takes 2 to 3 yrs to train a service dog and a dog cannot do any mobility tasks until 2 yrs of age and their growth plates have closed. Chopper will be 8 in 3 yrs and likely ready to retire. No, and I mean zero, rescues will adopt any large breed to an apartment home, no exceptions. They won't even hear me out. And thry require a fensed in yard. I promise you, with running an hour everyday and at least 3 hrs a day of training and work if not more, that dog will get more exercise and attention then any pet dog would with a working couple with a house and a fensed yard. Its frustrating! If you exercise your dog well enough most breeds will do well in an apartment! I didn't say all but most! Ugh!
Those are some pretty valid points. As long as a person is responsible enough then the dog may do well inside an apartment. The only dogs i've ever known to be terrible are great danes and blue heelers from terrible neighbors who were terrible dog parents....in small tiny apartments and left their dog locked up almost all day. Especially when both dogs lunged after me or my own dog Minty...i tell you some people just don't deserve dogs. But I guess if you had questions and told the lister what it is you'll be doing with the dog and how long the dog a day will spend with you, they could make exceptions. But i have a quick question for you since you shared with us your story. Are you looking for a dog at shelters/rescues as well as CL? I understand how long it takes but wanted to know the selecting process of your journey with finding the right dog for you.
You're right to be frustrated. I once lived underneath a very high energy border collie, which was living in a one-room bachelor suite, and guess what? He was great! The owner took him outside 3 or 4 times a day, and in 2 years I heard that dog less times than I have fingers! When people make rules like that, it's to make their own life easier and to refuse to listen to the alternatives is just silly. If they want to make a blanket rule for everyone, instead of looking for the actual best fit, they're going to lose out on good homes and lose money from keeping animals far longer than needed. Meeting your happy service animal and knowing the training and living conditions would be nearly identical should make any open-minded person reconsider, and maybe ask you to not share their name so others won't assume they get special treatment without your valid reasons!
Munchie's Place I'm not looking on CL. But I wanted and had the money for a puppy from a breeder (a lot likely to wash out - not make it in the training - for a service dog and has OFAs and all the health checks which is not just important for a service dog but also it helps to not end up with things like hip dysplasia and other joint issues when you are using the dog for mobility after the age of 2. Also, its better to start a service dog as a puppy - debated in the service dog community - or at least young). But that money ended up gone aftet a car accident so now the process is to look for returned dogs to a breeder (if not for health or temperment issues) then to rescues that actually care where the animal is placed then to a shelter. It seems easier to go with a place like petfinder but I hear that's worse then CL so I may end up looking on CL but thats my process simply due to needing to know the dog will be healthy for the long run and then will be able to do mobility and not have joint issues and more likely to have the temperment for a service dog. Most state that there is a much higher rate of wash out with shelter dogs who will end up back at thr shelter. All of my service dogs will retire with me but I cant keep all washed out dogs. Question: I am sure you have an application process like these dog rescues. Do you ever get contacted and advised that someone doesn't meet something on your application, why, and explained that the animal will still be in a happy, healthy, enviroment? I guess thats less likely for cats and hampsters but for dog rescues, all require you to select yes on the fensed in yard or you cannot contunue the application process. I thought of shooting these rescues an email and explaining. A service dog has to kept well exercised for it to do well at it's job and it also spends a huge amount of time with the handler. Eventually almost all of its time. So, I am not sure why a fenced in yard is still a must. I dont get it. There has to exceptions here.
Justine N Chopper is an American Pitbull Terrier. A high energy breed. And he makes the best apartment dog. As a service dog his needs for exercise is higher. Plus, for mobility work I need to keep him toned up more but as a pet, as long as he could free range run (no leash, in a field, chasing a toy) for around 30 mins or so every few days he was happy to just lay around all the other days. He was fit as a pet. He has never been unfit. He is just much toner as a service dog. To handle the mobility needs. As a service animal, to do his job properly, he is ran at least every other day. He gets annsy if I get sick and have to miss a few days but he does well on those days. Just gets a bit annsy. I don't know of any good team that doesn't meet their dogs exercise needs because as a service dog they need to be calm and you can't have calm without first exercising them and expelling that energy. Even a service dog in training. I would say an in training dog needs that more, especially if they are young, to do well at the training. Service dog training is a part time job for at least a year to a year and a half. It's intense. So, though I do have a full time job and the dog is home alone for that time period, they are then exercised for 30 mins to an hour then we spend a good solid 3 to 4 hours training. Not one session but multiple sessions and doing public exposure. So, that dog has way more one on one time and is socialized a lot more then any pet with a fensed in yard and all of it's exercise needs met. It has to have all of its exercised needs met to excel at service dog training as you can't do anything when they are a ball of engery. So whats the issue with no fensed in yard? Service dog off duty and usually dog rest time. I just don't get it.
I’m interested in starting my own rescue since there’s a lot of people rehoming, and lots of pet stores in my area. So I was wondering what’s the first steps to doing it.
I got my first 2 hamsters from a friends old co-worker who was given by a pet store a boy and a girl by mistake, since then i've adopted from pets at home for hamsters x
You're very sweet to rescue hamsters I rescue two hamsters from July 11 its been one months later already they take treats from me this is not my foster hamsters though I own 11 hamsters 4 hamsters from Craigslist..
I plan to get a hamster once my mom takes my dog back and I definitely plan to look at hamsters that need rehoming! Btw I’m waiting because my dog needs a lot of attention so I don’t wanna split my focus off her for a new hamster. When my mom takes her and she gets full time care with all the attention she needs from my mom then I’ll get a hamster. She’s a rescue and we’ve had her for like 3yrs now and she’s had soooooo much progress I’m so proud of my girl but she still has a lot of things to work on. Like her aggression with other dogs is so strong
Im about to rehome some of my large aquarium fish that I had for SOOOOOO long because im about to get a job and I feel that im not going to have time to take care of them like I use too😞hope someone will take good care of them
Hope you found a good hone for your fish. (P.S. if you still keep fish or are interested try the website My Aquarium Club, lots of helpful information and a overall nice community of aquarists)
Vet tech that specializes in small pets here. The news about the guinea pigs makes me happy for more than one reason. With most small animals, you tend to wait at a bit longer into their lifespan to breed them, but with guinea pigs, the female's pelvis will fuse after 8 months, meaning that it's impossible for them to give birth after 8 months if they have never had pups before, keep in mind that I only said give birth, pregnancy can still happen. So keeping different sexes together is dangerous if the male isn't neutered. I've only seen a few c-sections that didn't result in the mother losing her life, which is another reason why getting your animals altered is one of the best things you can do for their health.
They don’t want to send them to the pound because some places have a policy where they’re given a certain time limit to get adopted. If they exceed that time limit they will put them down to make room for more.
I know of one that actually does it... I adopted my first guinea pig there. But whole time filling in my information all I heard was them poor dogs crying. Broke my heart😭
Not everywhere does this. I explained that in the 3rd Bad CL Pet video pretty well about the different states with different laws in place and funding & why they have them. WA and OR are no kill shelter states. Impulse buying pets is what is causing kill shelters to thrive besides not spaying/neutering their pets and causing the population of strays to boom. We must stop it if we wish to see no kill shelters anymore. It's a vicious cycle that needs to be addressed since humans are causing it.
Colleen’s Pet Mice umm...yes? You do know these videos are uploaded in order and are old by the time they're uploaded right? I don't know what you mean by "proper" but just hang on please since I only upload twice a week. The video will be up when it's up. Thanks. 😊
Munchie's Place I didn’t mean “proper” in a bad way I just mean you’ve been posting pictures and what not. I’m just excited to see the new hamsters that’s all. Didn’t mean any harm.
I want to be a vet when I’m older but I don’t want to see animals dying..... like old age you can’t safe a animal life forever. What other jobs is also great for animals lovers?
But it's so funny that it's bad. But I would like to help out those who wanna watch with CC on. I just don't have the time to sit down and edit them. I probably should ask if anyone wanted to help contribute to captions. I'm always afraid people would troll tho of I allow anyone to edit it.
Since a lot of y’all know your animals and aren’t just gonna spew shit that makes no sense (hopefully) I need some advice. I got these two rats, they weren’t very tame and started out a little nippy but it was more curiosity than anything. In the month I’ve had them, they’ve gotten much worse. Like just took a chunk out of my finger worse. I don’t know wtf to do with them, like they are spiraling quick. I’ve been trying to work with them every day and get them tame, and honestly I don’t even care if I get bit as long as they get better but it’s not, and it’s quickly getting to the point that they aren’t safe to even feed without heavy duty gloves, what can I even do in this situation? I really don’t want to take them back and unknowingly put someone ELSE in this position but clearly I’m not making the situation better , any advice/thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated
take them to the vet, thats actually a little scary if their getting worse and they can carry things that are dangerous to humans, keep those bites really clean and invest in some gloves until you've had them checked just in case. I used to have rats, mine never even needed taming, they were gentle, friendly and cuddly from the time I got them. From what I've read though very aggressive behavior means one of 3 thing most times, 1. terror -this could be a reaction if their unused to people 2. pain -maybe they were injured when you got them 3. illness -this and the one above are both reasons for a vet check, of the two though I'd say illness is more concerning since many of the illnesses that rats can catch can transfer to other pets and human, they also hide illness very well so if they are sick it could be serious.
I've on 2 occasions have actually contacted people about an animal on Craigslist, but chickened out the very last moment. The ads weren't neglect animals, just animals that needed to be rehomed. 1 was a rabbit, and her owner had health problems. And recently, another had a litter of hamsters that they could no longer afford to care for. But with the ads that show neglect, I would never take the animals in. I had allowed my mouse to explore by climbing on me. He was just bitting left and right, but I let him because it didn't hurt too much and he was also exploring. But he ended up finding my ear and kept bitting down on cartilage. I could hear him bitting down on the cartilage right in front of the ear hole. I'm like, "He's not letting go, is he???" There was scabbing all over the outer ear that would be pierced, and the section infront of the ear hole. He was even bitting at the hair follicles, and could feel him slightly pulling. I think he was trying to get to the scalp but couldn't, so went for the part of the hair closest to my head. He wasn't a mouse that liked to be handled and perfered to be watched. He never liked human interaction, but he would come out to see what I was doing. He took food from me eventually, but would run after getting it. Over a period of time I accepted he wasn't a mouse to like human interaction. But out of all ways to die, he dies from a fall. It's not like it was starvation of dehydration, but from a fall that I allowed to happen. The only time I got to hold him in almost 7 months, was when he fell. He died the night before I would of had him for 7 months. The second I saw him on the floor, I realized I actually loved that mouse.
Petsmart has its own adoption program. Lil' Missy and Hannibal were both from their program where i kept the boxes which were later used as carriers for my rescuing 6 hamster videos. If the carriers are still good, i keep and re use them. Instead of laughing like you think you know any better, ASK before being malicious about your comment! If you didn't mean to be malicious sounding, then that's ok but it didn't come off as such.
I don't foster G-pigs at this time but am looking into having a setup encase i ever need to step in and help. At this time i am not invested into guinea pig care. Only Hamsters and Gerbils. Possibly rats in the future since i have a small rat cage but i'm taking my time with this somewhat new experience. I mainly foster cats and it wasn't till March of this year when i fostered my first hamster named Daisy.
on CL it's policy to not list breeders animals. This is why i do not support breeders on this platform. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with legit breeders preserving the animals bloodline. Registered breeders are on legit websites and have been registered with the right organizations. If someone is looking for a specific breed, cat or dog, horse or goat, they look for them from breeders who care about bloodline. Backyard breeders flood CL with shady posts & unethical practices. I will hopefully one day make a video about the differences of Backyard breeders and ethical breeders who're registered.
@@MunchiesPlace especially in working breeds like malinois or boarder collies, many people don't necessarily look for a registered dog exclusively as long as they can trace the pedigree, see health and temperament tests, and know the dogs are taken care of. Registrations don't really mean the dog is well bred and they are pretty easy to fake. General rule of thumb - a well bred dog is more likely to be registered, but not all (most) registered dogs are well bred.
I love love love ure hairmunchyuways have ure hair nice and tidy always another colour and u suit all the colours but I like u with brighter red hair ure lookin great u always care for ure rescuing us hams and u. When will ur hamsters be available for adoption? I have a 900 square inch tank at home cuz my syrian got wet tail and died😢 (it was not my fault I got him from the pet shop two days ago) I had hamsters in the past so I know a lot☺️
Before I get into this, just ask and not assume. PetSmart has their own Adoption program where both lil Missy and Hannibal came from. I reuse temp carriers for my rescues.
I love how you can see the time people spent in writing those ads and how they actually care where the animal goes and who will look after them , it’s heartbreaking actually to see someone who genuinely cares about an animal have to give it up
It’s sad that there wasn’t a single good Hamster AD.
I honestly could not find one without having some questionable things in it. :(
I’ve only ever seen one.
Nugget The Hamster I NEVER SAID TO SUPPORT A MILL!
Cecilia The Lps Im saying shopping as in finding a GOOD breeder. Not a bad one. I fully support good breeders. Not mills, backyard breeders ect ect. I might’ve worded it wrong sorry.
This is random but...
Your eye liner is on point
You gave me a freaken heart attack! I didn't know where this was going XD
Lol sorry (∩_∩)
It is though.
It almost always is
I am gonna go drive to a rescue to get my second longhaired Syrian today, I am so excited. He is cream banded and has red eyes, been at the shelter for a year and 2 months about, most likely because he and his brother have red eyes and people tend to find them creepy. When I saw them, I would have loved to take both in, they are so so adorable and fluffy men, but I don't have the space or money for 3 hammies :(
It is going to be my first adoptee, which has been my dream for quite a while.
I agree, and great idea!
it’s very telling how a lot of these adverts were dog adverts. I think it’s proof of how people tend to value certain animals’ wellbeing above others. also the way munchie looks so happy when she sees proper animal husbandry is real cute
Me like good husbandry. ❤️
Munchie's Place I hope your dream comes true! I’m sure it will🤞🏻💞💐💍
Same 😊👍
Totally Mia I’m going to adopt a husky, beagle and a fish
Working in a pet store won’t give you much money, if you live the USA you get a lot of money for zookeeping, so you can care for animals while giving advice when people ask you questions.
When I’m older, (I like in the UK) zookeeping has a poor salary, so I’m going to work as a recuiter or investment banker which gives hella lot of money and I’m going to own a cat and spoil him/her with top notch products :)
It’s really sad that their weren’t any good hamster ads.
:) Thanks!
@@evasebok58 Adoption fees can also be a bad thing here too but it's generally reserved for pure breeds and whatnot. Usually it's fine.
in the uk it's also a good sign to be asked for a rehoming fee, as we have a massive issue here with people advertising dogs free to a good home and them ending up being bait dogs for dog fighting
I just found your channel and may I just say that I already love you 😂and your shirt is gorgeous!
The advice you give is amazing I really admire that^^
I love you munchie! It's so heartwarming how much you truly care for animals
I just want to say Munchie you inspired me to do videos I am starting doing videos of my hamsters and stuff and I can't wait to get started thankyou so much Munchie !
I appreciate what you do by informing the public about the reality of rehoming a pet.
(More continued, if anyone wants to read)
Now that I'm an adult, I went to adopt my own dog 3 years ago.
I love this series and it's great to see the good ads! 💖💖❤😀 Love this video!
Hi I love you
I4:48 believe in a 120 gallon minimum for an adult beardie with a playsand and topsoil mix for substrate (Impactions isn't a risk if you have proper care, especially the heating and lighting!).
She is sitting next to me right now and she is the sweetest cat I’ve ever seen and I loveeeeee her
This video was a good Craigslist pets ads because these were very informative and in so much detail
Yasss, I was looking for something like this to help find good sellers! Thank you!
Great video and I love the hair colour 😍
Oh my god when i saw the betta i was like "i want em"
Patchwork The Dragon Noodle same!
I love that they spend so much time on those ads
Love the idea to have a contrasting video for “the bad craiglist adds”
Ever since i got a hamster you became one of my fav youtubers :3
I love ur hairrr😍😍
This is so important because people only see negativity and we need to be more positivist.
I have a 2 dolbermans and we take them to a 1 mile field every day for them to run on
Nice video! I still love the bad ads lol but I don’t like people mistreated their animals:(
When my cat had kittens and we were giving them away my mom would ask every person a lot of questions like do you have kids or dogs are they friendly and there were I think 2 people that didn't want to answer some of the questions so my mom didn't give them a kitten
Whats your opinion on fostering animals???
I foster animals so i fully support the idea. I'm guessing you're new to the channel? I have my own playlist filled with my foster hamsters and current cat. I talk about them all the time, especially with the last rescue. I also have an IG account for my Foster Home.
Yup im new to the channel! And i was just curious cuz im gonna foster a dog this weekend 🐕
That's long didn't read it yet though
Great video! Love your channel, recently subscribed and hope to watch you a lot :)
i love your videos!!! You are so cute!!!!
The last one scared me for a second
I’m interested in starting my own rescue since there’s a lot of people rehoming, and lots of pet stores in my area. So I was wondering what’s the first steps to doing it.
I got my first 2 hamsters from a friends old co-worker who was given by a pet store a boy and a girl by mistake, since then i've adopted from pets at home for hamsters x
You're very sweet to rescue hamsters I rescue two hamsters from July 11 its been one months later already they take treats from me this is not my foster hamsters though I own 11 hamsters 4 hamsters from Craigslist..
I have a chiwawa and my uncle was just going to put him on kijiji and he was skin and bones
11:36 could it Pickle's pet's gecko and lizard
i always go to facebook groups for buy and sell to adopt pets there. thats how i got my guinea pigs and cat
It's wonderful to hear people are also actively looking for rehomes before i suggested it to many here on YT :)
@@PKMNResearcherSkyler they all found good homes and I also made some new friends who update me on how there doing😄
@@fishkingoftheaquarium7605 glad to hear
I have 7 rescues and 2 fosters right now
Whats the first song you used called ?
i need help....my mom thinks I gave him a big cage when it was so small. She also did not put a lot of bedding. My hamster is in stress. Please help
I have a adoption center
4 hours away
I'm adopting my first cat. I chose her over a hamster because I can have both and I don't Room for a hamster cage.
Got my big boy on cl his previous owners rescued him and seriously best choice of my life
Lol my dog and 2 of my garters
Could you please do a proper introduction on the new hamsters.
Rescue/Animal Control officer/Working in shelters/Cat Cafe/Dog Daycare/Zoo/Petstore to name some :)
You hair is so gorgeous it is my favorite color
I love dis😍😍 cuz thier getting take care of atm and not abused
I really want a hamster but the shelter near me does not have hamsters. What would you suggest for that?
Petfinder or Facebook rehoming groups.
Love your vids ❤❤❤🇸🇪
Why is there a petsmart box in the background
Because I used them for my rescue at this time since I did not have enough carriers for my foster animals.
How do I inquire about one of your foster hamsters
Would you consider doing captions on your videos? The auto-generated is really bad.
But it's so funny that it's bad. But I would like to help out those who wanna watch with CC on. I just don't have the time to sit down and edit them. I probably should ask if anyone wanted to help contribute to captions. I'm always afraid people would troll tho of I allow anyone to edit it.
7:58 😍😍😍😍😍 those eyes!!
Am watching this as am being sick
Doesn't the pound kill them??
Do you have guinea pigs (I’m new). I just got a guinea pig and it would be nice to get some tips from you. Thank you xxx
No i do not. I would recommend looking elsewhere since i'm mainly hamsters/gerbils.
Munchie's Place ok thank you, btw I really enjoy your videos ♥️ good job xxx

10:21 Horses?
Last time I tried to adopt two kittens off of Craigslist the owner made us bring them back... I was really upset
From what I've read though very aggressive behavior means one of 3 thing most times,
1. terror -this could be a reaction if their unused to people
2. pain -maybe they were injured when you got them
3. illness -this and the one above are both reasons for a vet check, of the two though I'd say illness is more concerning since many of the illnesses that rats can catch can transfer to other pets and human, they also hide illness very well so if they are sick it could be serious.
Read the carglist like these for pets
There are no hamsters in there that is so sad
Omg. Thats good
Yes, Very Good. ;)
Whyn is there a petsmart box behind you as you say adopt dont shop. Lmao
By any luck do you have any guinea pigs up for adoption?
I don't foster G-pigs at this time but am looking into having a setup encase i ever need to step in and help. At this time i am not invested into guinea pig care. Only Hamsters and Gerbils. Possibly rats in the future since i have a small rat cage but i'm taking my time with this somewhat new experience. I mainly foster cats and it wasn't till March of this year when i fostered my first hamster named Daisy.
Munchie's Place oh ok ,thank you, for your time. I love your channel!
I do think there are legit reasons why someone might go to a breeder and that is important to note.
on CL it's policy to not list breeders animals.
General rule of thumb - a well bred dog is more likely to be registered, but not all (most) registered dogs are well bred.
frickkk i watched one ad and started sobbing

shhhh i must explain myself :P
When will ur hamsters be available for adoption? I have a 900 square inch tank at home cuz my syrian got wet tail and died😢 (it was not my fault I got him from the pet shop two days ago) I had hamsters in the past so I know a lot☺️
You say : don't shop adopt
and their is an PetSmart animal carier behind you😂
Before I get into this, just ask and not assume. PetSmart has their own Adoption program where both lil Missy and Hannibal came from. I reuse temp carriers for my rescues.
