    The reason I like a full tower primarily is storage. I run 4 HDDs 2 SSDs and 2 M.2s right now. I also like to have Blu Ray burner, and a card reader in the front. My Thermaltake Core V71 has been pretty nice, though it just barely accommodates the new GPUs.

    • @valhallasashes4354
      @valhallasashes4354 2 роки тому

      Same here. I have 5 HDDs, 1 SATA SSD, 2 NVME SSDs and a BluRay drive. Most cases these days don't have enough room for that. Even some full tower cases struggle. Thankfully my BQ DB900Pro can handle it easily, while still allowing me fit in a full size triple fan graphics card.

    • @OriginalMergatroid
      @OriginalMergatroid 2 роки тому +1

      I like a full tower just for the space. I don't even use hard drives anymore, but my personal system is a display system, and I like having some extras installed (like RGB images) to take up any empty space. Personally, I love having a large empty space to work in during building. I never recommend them to customers, but I always prefer them myself. And, Linus did some testing recently with a smoke gun, and it showed that if your video card is too close to your front fans, it will cause turbulence in the case by the video card, and there will be a dead air space under the card. If there is a large gap between the card and the fans on the front, this doesn't happen.

    I feel like particularly for full tower cases, I'd want to hear a little more about the internal drive capacity -- how many 3.5 drives it can hold, maybe even 5.25 bays for those crazy folks still wanting/needing for whatever reason to rock an internal optical drive, power/data cable routing for same, etc.

    • @Ziyoblader

      As an elder Canadian builder, I want those 5.25 bays for a DVD/Blu-ray drive, and a removable drive bay for backups. And it had better hold at least 4 hard drives, because I'll be dual booting; One M.2 NVMe for the daily driver, one SSD for the alternate OS, two usr/swap drives, and one huge drive for AV stuff. Funny how bloody hard it has gotten to find such a case new, and thus I end up reusing the good older ATX cases. That's why we build our own systems, after all!

    I rebuilt my PC in the 5000T this year and I really like it. It looks nice and has much better airflow than my old case. And it has the space for if I'm ever brave enough to try and do a custom loop.
    Though it is a bit unwieldy. But what IS nice is that the little foot it sits on lets it sit on desks/spaces where you might normally not fit it because the foot is smaller than the case body and actually raises it up off the surface enough for some clearance.

    I actually got the CM HAF 700 Evo and I adore it. I will say that the power button may have gone through changes, because I don't need to depress mine nearly as much as yours.
    Also, I want to add that the cooler master riser bracket/cable included with it aren't all that great. Not sure if you got one with your review sample, but it should come with one when purchased through retail. The big problem with it is the cable included isn't flexible at all, so it ends up pushing against the motherboard and the video card ends up jutting out at an angle. I was able to kind of squish it in with less of an angled mess, but it's still there by a slim margin.
    Otherwise, so glad I purchased it. A couple of friends I had over to check it out were in awe, and both of them actually wanted to purchase one after seeing it. Lol

      It's a subjective list as the title clearly states. I mean, technically two of the cases mentioned aren't even full towers by common definition.
      Also, the tooling of Dark Base 900 Pro is really outdated at this point. Be Quiet! should have done a revision long ago.

    • @dynastes4938
      @dynastes4938 2 роки тому +2

      @@veduci22 Ehm ... no, not really. The newest iterations of those families are significantly newer and more modern than the Dark Base 900 (not that it even makes sense to talk in such general terms anyway, what models are you even talking about? xD). Don't take me as a hater, I am using the Pure Base 500DX as my case myself and have always used BQ's power supplies. But it is a fact that they are exceptionally slow on keeping their cases up to date. Dark Base 900 was really innovative when it came out, but the Rev. 2 is arguably worse than the original and generally a successor would be needed.
      And it is not just that model. Be Quiet! also still sells the brutally outdated Silent Base 600 (not 601, but its predecessor), which was an old design even when originally released, and the Pure Base 600, which is aging as almost equally badly. Silent Base 802 and Pure Base 500DX/FX are pretty much the only models I would consider competitive in the current market environment. Airflow is key with the new generation of hardware and the Dark Base line is simply subpar when it comes to that, even disregarding general design shortcomings.

Having twelve fans, a 360mm AIO and a 280mm AIO with a 1200w psu and a LCD screen AIO she's beefy. I have a question with the Hyte Y60 case, is the floor of the inside metal or plastic? Like IF someone wanted to place a 360mm AIO in the front side space, could the floor right in that area be cut to allow for the taller RAD? That is the ONLY thing I REALLY did NOT like about this case, you should be able to install a 360 AIO in that place, and for some reason they allowed a 360 in the top but not in this area, when this area is a much better place for such a large AIO. Thanks.

    I want to see more front facing pc cases for custom builds. PC case orientation is from a time where we had optical and floppy drives. For a long time now we build PC's that are as much of a showpiece and aesthetic compliment to your home office/command center and I wish there were some more innovative designs that just had like a glass door in the front that you open up and have easy access to all components as well as show everything off better.

      This is not a problem in the HAF 700 series you can fit a total of 11 HDD's or SSD's in that case so plenty of drives. It has a rear drive bay with room for 4 drives and then you can fit 2 drives at the back of the cable cover plate and 3 more on the brackets on the rear front behind the mirror. On the main front of the case there is 2 brackets mounted on the bottom that you can fit 2 more drives in so a total of 11.

    I already bought the Cooler Master HAF 700 Evo. Going to be building a Ryzen 7000 / Nvidia 40xx system inside it. Going to go for a dual water-cooling loop, so the GPU and CPU will be on their own loop, with their own pumps / radiators. I even two 64mm thick 420mm radiators, which will give me MORE than enough cooling headroom for the CPU, and I feel will set me up pretty good for whatever the wattage of the 40xx series GPU uses. It will also be my first custom loop, using hand bend acrylic. I finally make enough money to go all out on this PC build. And i'll be able to use this case for over a decade, and I know this because I'm STILL using the Cooler Master HAF 932 case. So if I use this case for 10 years, that's only $65/year. Not too bad, when you realize what all you can throw into this case.

    I’ve built in the Hyte Y60 a couple of times. It’s a beautiful case, but not a big fan due to it’s poor ventilation. The newer version with fans in the angled glass area is much better. I definitely don’t like the power and usb at the bottom. That’s just a USB stick waiting to be kicked off. Also, you can only use low-profile brackets with any add-on cards, and of course, you’re limited to a vertical GPU mount. The case looks fantastic with a 280mm vertically mounted AIO and is really the perfect location for that because it just looks like it’s part of the original case. Like most vertical GPU mounts, it is too close to the glass and hinders card performance. The use of only low profile add on cards is a major drag as is the lack of any other GPU orientation but vertical. Overall though, with some minor modifications, this can be a great case.
    Another more recent “widebody” case is the DIYPC ARGB Q10. It is similar to the Hyte in that it is a “widebody” and has glass front and side……
    but no angled section of glass. Airflow is similar to the Hyte where you either draw in air from the top or side depending on type of CPU cooler used. The power and usb is at the top……so that location is much better. It comes complete with 4 ARGB fans and the build quality is very good for a case one-third of the Hyte cost. The most impressive feature is the amount of room supplied for CPU power plug installation. Even with Noctua sized dual fan CPU cooler, you can easily install the 8 pin after securing the motherboard and with the cooler installed. That’s a first with any case I have built in. It really does have considerable room for cable management. A very impressive offering from DIYPC.

    Seriously? Why didn't you mention that you get no option for a horizontal gpu mount in the Y60? The case is wonderful, it looks amazing, it's an absolute treasure for water cooling but it has one enormous downside and that's the one thing you don't explicitly mention - the temps in that vertical mount for air cooling are absolutely terrible, comparable with poor airflow uninformed customer options out there.
    It's a massive deal-breaker for anyone who wants to use it with an air cooled gpu, especially if they're expecting temps similar to what you'd get with an 011D - given that it's that one bottom to top airflow double chamber case which has given people the idea about how good gpu temps can be in these, and it should've been mentioned first thing.

    As cool as the Coolermaster is, no pun intended. It doesn't quite get there for me. The Corsair 5000T is the right fit, the black one looks way better and I'd go with that anyways so the coloring on the white one doesn't affect me. Next is the bracket for cables, that would be removed anyways so I'd only ever have to touch it once which is probably why they made it hard to remove because you are supposed to do it once and never again. I'd be running 10 fans so that bracket would never go back in the PC.
    Next would be the SSD slots, don't need those personally since I'll only be running m.2 NVME drives. I do have a few SSDs that could go in there but the screw isn't that big of a deal, definitely a huge flaw though.
    There is definitely too much plastic in that case for it's price point and they probably did that so it stays lightweight, the panel on the back could use some more weight to it. The glass panel not going in all the way is fine by me because it prevents you from getting in the habit of just shoving it closed which could damage the tempered glass, giving it a firm push to close it makes sense to be honest.
    So overall I will definitely be going with the 5000T for my next build, has all the features I have been looking for, I might even get a mirror for the bottom to see the bottom of the GPU

    I really want to do a fat watercooling build in that HAF, it's actually as "cheap" as £380 here in the UK, so not too bad I guess, for the tier of premium space it occupies.

    I love my H500p mesh, is that a full tower i think it is. I just remove the top while in use to let the 360 rad exhaust through the top. Remove the PSU shroud for better gpu cooling as well. Love this case.

      Look at the top of your front louvers. Does yours happen to have embedded dust? Mine does. It's inside the glass if that makes sense. Everything else is perfect about it. Everyone including my 83 year old mother in law love it. They have never seen anything like it.

    I have always had great respect for HC (and Demetri) when it comes to their judgement.
    But here we are, w/ the best full-tower cases and not a mention of what I consider the best of all.
    The Fractal Design Define 7 XL ... not flashy, but functional !
    My philosophy has always been "FUNCTION OVER FORM" !
    Even if you want to display your build, it should be something that is easy to work with,
    without any obvious oversights (design flaws).
    If you want a flashy case ... the Fractal Torrent, and no, I don't work for Fractal !

    I got a hold of a case, with all the trimmings, from a company that most people hate now. I'm talking about the Alienware Area 51 R2. The (in)famous Triangle Case with RGB strips!
    The system is a beast, first off....Liquid cooled 12 core i7, 32GB DDR4 3200 RAM, 1200watt Modular 80+ Gold PSU, 2060 6GB VC, and over 5+ Terabytes of SSD storage! I have to say, this case has seriously grown on me! Weird? Yep. Unconventional? Yep! Rommy interior? Oh yeah! Quiet. Cool. And totally BAD ASS looking, IMHO! Sure, Alienware is a hated brand now-a-days, but for the price I paid (let's just say EVERYONE out there would take it for the price I paid), it has been a great machine to have! I know, so much of it, as is, is proprietary, and hard to replace, but if the MOBO goes out, I can just mod it to take a "standard" ATX MOBO. The PSU is replaceable, as well as the cooler! The case allows for just about ANY size MOBO and PSU combination out there. I really get bored with standard "box" cases that are so prevalent in PC's today. Lian Lee is well known for "weird" cases, and I can understand the desire! This undoubtedly my most favorite case I have ever had in the 30+ years I've been into PC's. And NO, I ain't no MacNerd. Macs SUCK!

    I have the Cooler Master. I built a new LGA1700 system. I was actually trying to get in touch with customer support today. I love the case let me say that. My only issue besides it being $800 is the front glass louvers have dust inside the louvers. I tried to clean them until I realized it was actually inside. The case also has 2 of those 19 pin connectors. I had to buy an add on card as my mobo only had 1. I am talking about the blue connector.

    i opted for a full tower case for maximum airflow. My old alienware was horribly loud, so for my new build i went with a huge case and 140mm fans all around for silence and cooling, and I also wanted to be able to watch DVD's and whatnot so I wanted a 5.25 bay. Well, I got me a HAF 700EVO to build my new pc in a completely new build which has been a long time from the last time I did this. going from and old HAF case which looks like it will fit inside the 700evo lol . watercooling is on the cards with all the CPU's and GPU's putting out so much power and heat . I was going for 2 X 360's in the top and 1 X 360 in the side. with even a thought of a little 240 on the rear but may not bother. keeping the from empty and clear for good air flow and my stick 2 or 3 fans in the bottom to help with intakes to keep a positive air flow the rad on the side will me intake too but as its last int he line it should be cool enough not to put heat into the case.
    Not turned it on yet as I havent the parts lol but had a quick look taking out the box was like "this is heavy" so glad the box had a great design too not problems trying to drag it out. 4 plastic clips and lift the outer box to show the case was a great idea.
    moving it around .... I made a trolly a black shelf with some small 60kg wheels and now I can move it easier . and with the 4090 size graphics cards they will look lost in it :)
    "why am not keeping on the desk I hear you say" at 25KG empty it will be close to 50KG full im not lifting it is why

    lian li 011 air mini works amazingly well for me. 2x140's intake, 120 out (I added a 120 under and 120 top) 3080 doesn't get too hot and using air cooling (thermalright 120 peerless assassin) keeps things chilled. (it cools better than a 240AIO which made me go HUH? because I thought throwing cpu temps directly out of the case would be better but.. Not in my case.)
