Darij Kuzma Well I must say that I first am very happy to hear this video may have helped you and second I truly appreciate your time for an amazing comment. Thanks for the video. Mine had a similar issue although mine didnt fully go bad. I pulled the fiber connector on the bottom one and when I put it back the sound came back on. Your video put me on the right track.
My pleasure and so happy it helped you. Thank you also for the comment it truly helps people as well. Please consider subscribing for more content that may help you as well. 😊🤙🏻. If you already did please disregard my last.
Solid video. I have 2013 335 f30. Warning tones warning came up. Idrive and display completely functional but all tones and audios would intermittently go on and off until finally it just goes off. Took it to bmw for a diagnosis and they advised me to replace head unit claiming “HEAD UNIT IS FAILING CAUSING THE DROPPING OUT OF THE FIBER OPTIC RING” I really want to trouble shoot the fiber optic wire to the head unit to confirm. Gonna try and figure out how to check using your video.
Sorry about the issues I know how it feels. You can buy the wire off Amazon. Basically you unplug your fiber line and plug the one from Amazon in. The one from Amazon will be looped so it tricks the head unit into thinking there is no issue. If you get sound back it means they were correct in diagnosis. Basically the fiber wire is the green wire. If you have power on you can check each thing plugged in by pulling out the fiber wire. If the wire blinks the unit before it is good. So for example if you went to the first part from the head unit in the chain and get blinking red light then the head unit is fine. Plug back in and go to the next part and so on. If you find a part where the fiber is not blinking then the part before the one your on is faulty. Hope that helps and good luck.
@@ITSTHISEASY thanks for detailing response!!! So checking the wiring connected to head unit would tell me if the optic is going in the head unit. Where is that location for after the head unit. Do you know?
I just spent $1600. On an new AMP, and it didnt fix my dead radio. It was my radio head that was bad but BMW wanted $2800.00 to fix it. I bought my radio head on ebay for $ 110.00 installed it myself and bmw re-programmed it for me for $200. .and it works now.
Sorry to hear about the issues. I am so happy you commented about your findings here as well because it will help. I had a strong feeling mine was the amp as I said because I could smell the burnt plastic in the rear where the amp was. Also when I took it out I opened it up and saw that the board was melted inside. Once I saw that I knew it was the amp but didn’t know if it was anything else as well. Process of elimination could have led me to the head unit as well if when I put the new amp in it still wouldn’t work. Good to know you can buy the unit off eBay and have BMW program it. Thanks for sharing that info. Better days ahead my friend 😁🤙🏻
Have a question, was your radio head working with no sound or was the radio head working with no sound? Trying to figure out on my 2011 x5 and I’m having the same issues
I’m pretty sure the loop is used for each part of the circuit. So if you used it on the telephone module and it didn’t work you would know it’s bad if nothing changed after you did the com box
Have the same issue on my bmw 2016 f33 .... can’t figure out whats going on... I’ll follow those prompts and see whats up... Thanks for the video man... appreciate it!! 🙏🏻
Also check to make sure your phone is not connected to the car with Bluetooth and stopping the sound. Lastly my wife thought it happened again but realized by pressing in the knob of the stereo muted everything. Check that as well. She said she saw a speaker symbol on the screen with a hash through it and figured it out. But if not that easy hopefully my video helps. Good luck
Hello friend, I have an x5 and all the sounds are gone.. I checked all the fuses and they are all good. I plugged in the amplifier and looked inside and I didn't see anything burnt. What do you think the problem could be?
Hi thanks for the question. I tried to fix it by bringing it to the only local repair shop I could find. He had it 6 months and never got to it. I called three times during that time and got an excuse that he is so busy but he will get to it. Finally I just went and picked it up but it’s still not repaired and I just decided to keep it just in case and find someone else if it ever happens again. He did say it’s an easy fix so that’s why I saved it. He said it’s a 50 cent part that needs to be replaced. So hearing that I decided to keep it if it happens again and the new old one gets damaged worse I can get the original one fixed somewhere else cheap. I hope that answers your question and helps. 😊
Hi Brian. I actually tried and brought it to a place that fixes boards like that. He had it for 6 months and never got to it so I just went to get it back. I’m just hanging onto it for now incase I need it again. Just look up some kind of place that works on those type of boards. Like small tv repair shops
Hi Edgardo, make sure that nothing is connected to the stereo like using Bluetooth first and also my wife’s had a button she hit on accident one day after I fixed it and she lost all sound again. Not sure what it was called but press some buttons on the stereo deck as well to make sure the wife didn’t hit it on accident. Kills all the sound as well. If all that doesn’t work continue with using the video. Good luck bud 😁🤙🏻
I just wanted to mention that when you check a fuse with a test light you always check both sides of the fuse because there's gonna be power on one side most the time...
