0:03 Our pally is grabbing a lot of hammers to throw at Diablo's minions.
0:09 The Paladin is using Blessed Hammer; it travels in a clockwise spiral around the paladin and deals magic damage to enemies in the path.
This is one of the best PvE skills in Diablo 2, because of 1) powerful synergies and 2) the fact that virtually no monsters are immune to magic damage
On the other hand, you will need a lot of skill to hit them hammers in PvP battles.

0:18 Paladin switches to Zeal, which is basically a swift barrage of melee attacks. Zeal paladins or Zealots is also a viable strategy, if you have a strong, hard-hitting weapon
0:21 When the Paladin uses Holy Shield, his shield looks like that for the skill duration. Holy Shield is a super OP skill; increased defense(avoiding physical attacks), block chance(negating physical damage), and faster block rate(which means that you can instantly counterattack after you block enemy attacks with a shield)
0:23 And he smites like hell. Smite is basically a shield bash which never misses. Holy Shield also increases smite damage.
0:26 That skill is Fist of the Heavens. (literally lol) What it actually does in-game is that it deals lightning damage to a single enemy and then shoots holy bolts (which damages undead) everywhere.
0:32 That aura is Redemption, which lets the Paladin "redeem", or eat, nearby corpses to regain lost HP and MP.
0:39 That aura is Sanctuary, which periodically knocks back undead along with some magic damage (hence the dancing skeleteons). And it ignores any physical damage immunity of undead monsters in the radius. Has a very pretty effect too.
I think that was Fanaticism, not Zeal...

@@Lucian_Andries you're kinda right. Fanaticism is the Aura, Zeal is the Attack Skill, the two of them used together are quite effective.
@@travisfields157 Same! Even though I played, I didn't go deep on all the classes and builds, my memory is hazy, and I just miss a lot of details Carbot packs in there. These explanations really enhance the videos!

@@Theeight8b I think smite, hammer and FoH is magic based, iron maiden is pure physical dmg. (I don't recall entirely)

Ah the paladin, dying instantly to iron maiden with a zeal build...the memories.
Back when Zeal had 208 attacks per hit you could just feel helpless at that iron maiden curse hit you in the middle of the swings. Whirlwind as well for barbs was a no go in Chaos Sanctuary.
@@craigh5236 Not that it matters anymore since they removed iron maiden, but back then, a vamp gaze and string of ears was all you needed for iron maiden not to affect you as a whirlwind barb, since the damage being reduced was far less than the amount you were leeching.
Yeah that wont be missed lol.

I luv the fact that when the paladin demonstrates the Zeal, Holy Shield, Smite, Fist of the Heavens and Redemption skills respectively... those Blessed Hammers are still flying around in the background.

When the paladin said "it's hammer time" and started hammering all the enemies.
After seeing all the Elden Ring skits, this was a nice change of pace for the player to be the OP one.

When I saw Zealot, I was expecting him to do absolutely no damage with his sword, give up, and start hitting things with his shield
A ZvZ will absolutely nuke anything in melee not built for melee pk.

Hammer pala's only true enemy is the narrow tunnels of the Maggot Lair where blessed hammer is basically useless.
It did need one clip of the hammers sailing harmlessly past an enemy standing RIGHT NEXT to the paladin.
Always thinking BH pal is a melee build.

Pally's aura gives his advantage against monsters like redemption and sanctuary.
Pally's possible magic is blessed hammer.
Zeal is the melee special weapon for all gamer classes (like noobs and pros)
Smite is useful vs. secondary unique bosses except act bosses such as Andy, Duriel, etc.
That ending tho. Pally is using sanctuary to have a disco aura vs. undead 😄😆🤣
I donno about current D2 resurrected, but Smite with a Grief runeword on a phase blade murdered every boss and since the damage from grief was direct, unreduced, untyped damage you could really use any shield and any gear and just maximize all resistances, faster hit recovery, and health. It was the number one bosser for ubers and a smiter could run in and kill the triple uber within seconds.
smite is the best uber killer because u cant miss with smite ur ar doesnt matter and crushing blow or open wounds apply by using it
@@wanderer202 It's physical damage, but yes, still does exactly what you said. It also still doesn't correctly display on-screen damage.
It is widely accepted fact that Grief is THE BEST melee weapon in the game, by far. I don't even think those fancy rare eth self repair cruel fool's weapon outperform the Grief.
The fact that these are still made and that they are still hilarious makes this game legendery

Yep. I did the frost aura + slow on hit thing as a paladin. Was like being Neo in the matrix. Except vs that one type of monster in act 5 that ignored slows and chills.

My 7 year old brother's first paladin had a very very specific build. From 1-40 put 2-3 points in just about every single skill. But as soon as you unlock thorns dump all points there. My first assassin had a similar narrow focus. I dumped everything in the first fire sentry. Nightmare mode destroyed us.
