It's a special type of lume paint where the words actually change back and forth based on the moon phase. It's ridiculously expensive, like $8,000 per oz. You can buy it at gullible dot com.
When they were making the texture on the dial, was it etched by hand or completely by a motorized robot machine? Thanks to whoever responds, because if it's not by hand, I don't really see what's so complicated about this besides the ink pen in hour markers.
+Watches Y2K If in doubt, made by a machine. Handcraftsmanship sells well but is very expensive. Everything one usually sees in image films like this one one is usually "all" there is.
Unbelievable to just to see how critically fine workmanship is done on a Franck Muller dial. I have no idea what the white applicator is used here on the dial with such fine exactitude. No wonder these watches are healthy 6 to 7 figures of value.

I guess they manually paint the numbers with the paint because they want to give that 'depth' effect on the numbers. The machine used to press the prints to the dial is unable to create such effect.
You can very simply do it with a cnc, but they do it manually because rich people will pay 10x more just so they can brag about their 'hand painted' watch. Just like you pay $1000 for an iPhone even though you can get a better performing phone under $300 by other less known brands.
p p Clearly you're not a watch enthusiast if you think that. You don't just pay those prices for hand painted dials, you pay for the movement. Franck Muller watches such as the Crazy Hours complication are unique watches and well worth the money compared to similar watches of the same budget. Some rich people may pay it to brag about the hand painted numbers but realistically, anybody that actually knows about that aspect of the watch will have also done their homework on the watch itself and would actually appreciate it for the precision timepiece they are.
And they don't what they are talking about, because that's not paint. It's superluminova. And the outline of the numbers where not painted, they were stamped. I'm with you Ian, Frank Muller makes some extraordinary timepieces, and the "Crazy Hours" is one of the coolest movements I've seen. For a watch to jump 5 hours spots, takes some incredible engineering. I bet it took several years to design that movement.

Billie Joe you cant consider frank muller art. By watchmaking standards all these processes are very industrial. Check out some of roger smiths guilloche videos
Beautiful but what value does this bring to people who struggle to pay $500 for a watch. And where does the money come from for the people who can easily pay $50,000 for a watch? Is this what horology comes to?
Mark Slafkes these watches are clearly not made for people who can afford only 500 dollar watches, therefore they don’t have to bring value to those people. What does it matter where the money came from, as long as it’s been earned legally? In any branch in the world you will have advances over time. That includes horology! I fail to see why this is a problem?! Obviously, if a watch is made completely in house by a master watchmaker of a company in the western world, and it takes that master watchmaker 6 to 12 months to build one watch, you won’t be able to buy that watch for 500 dollars!

Very nice, respect to the makers.
Thanks for uploading!
I was on the edge of my seat, fantastic!
wow 'then you must sit on ground
Now I know why they are so expensive. Wonderful craftsmanship and a steady hand!
just reviewed a franck muller yachting vanguard on my channel the dial was absolutely beautiful
A watchmaking empire run by one of the most reclusive persons in the industry- someone we almost never hear from anymore.
That’s because he die in 2006 from a motorcycle accident in 2002
@@s.j.c.5821 No, you're thinking of the television actor. Franck Muller is still very much alive.
@@douro20Yes! You are 100% correct. I doubled checked and it definitely is the actor that passed away. Sad story for the actor.
I have a FM color dreams and the dial is really well made and looks amazing. The movement however is a bit fussy. It needs frequent servicing.
Judging by the music I was totally expecting an explosion at the end.

n old saying; in luxury watches, the dial is what you sell. FM has by far the nicest dials in the industry.
What is the name of this tool for drawing on the dial?
Cool vid
Oww..Vera Good...top !!!
Can someone tell me what is the pen called that is used to fill the numerals ?
프랭크 뮬러. 광고와 음악 장인들의 작업 과정이 가장 좋아하는 시계 광고 입니다.
At 2:30 it says platinum rotor, but at 2:40 it says liberty. Such a scam!
iveseenbigfoot good spotout

Wow!!!

+Watches Y2K It's most likely made with a cnc machine.
wow wow... hand painted.. i thought machine. Look at tht steady hand
Which is that pen ? I have the luminous liquid but that pen to dose the liquid !?!
You can use a watch oiler. I know one guy who used his penis, but it was very small.
When I make it, I'm getting one
i'll order 8.. then default and well will have to work something out with the company.
what's that white powder at :51?
ToastMusic grinding, polishing powder.
IMPRESSIVE 😏
The question is where they make them!!! In Armenia for most of them! And the source is complete sure!

I love franck muller, but they can be had for far less than 6 figures. I was offered a FM Vanguard for $6,100
what if you painted over the line?
you then need a new dial
شو سعر هل ساعه
I want a Super Luminova pen, If thats what it is.
I was able to hold my breath for 2:56 mins.
exactly what i wanted to type. oh my word.

So most expensive part of production is someone colouring in numbers by hand?
Franck muller
I have an old watch you can restore it
l need a drink of water now 👏👏👏🤗
Gosh, and that was just for the dial. Just think what the movement video will be like....
And Don LaFontaine would suddenly say "In a world..."

RGM old school dial making at it's best. CNC? Nope!
This video made me feel like getting one of these myself. But once my clear mind kicks in, NAH!
master of unnecessary complications!
I'm amazed the numbers were painted by hand. Very costly and time consuming. I bet that's for marketing reasons, probably done by machine really
yeah its pointless, considering they have already printed the outline

AP uses pretty old machines.
What is a watch like this worth?
+Julie Anthony too much!!!
Billie Joe you cant consider frank muller art. By watchmaking standards all these processes are very industrial. Check out some of roger smiths guilloche videos
These are mass produced just like any watch. It's all marketing gimmick

good but expensive, overpriced. (all swisses) made in computer watches.
Nice! However, do pardon the exuberance of my verbosity - but, I would much prefer a hand job!
Ha ha!
