It's "one of the most normal" simply because this commercial is not by David Lynch, who made ONLY "Welcome to the Third Place" for the Sony PlayStation 2
David Lynch made this commercial in 2000 for the Sony Play Station and the same "trick" has been done about two years earlier by Jonathan Glazer who directed the Rabbit in your Headlights video for Radiohead in 1998. Both did a great job I think.
David Lynch DID NOT direct this commercial. He only made one PS2 commercial for the UK market and it was titled "The Third Place". You can even hear David's voice saying "what not, what is, where not etc..."
This was directed by Kevin Thomas. Not David Lynch. the only PS2 commercial David Lynch directed is the one with the duck-headed person who says "welcome to the third place
Alex And? Let me guess, you are 12yrs old, and that’s why you are so fascinated with that? Or is is because you are beginning to figure out the actual worth of time, lol 😂
Sentient Violin Holy fiddlesticks! Is your name Alex? No, because I was replying and referring to them. So now you can gain all those years back again!
a lot of commercials are credited to lynch on youtube that he had nothing to do with. now i have no idea about this one, but its possible considing the subject matter.
If you just do a simple Google search, you can find all sorts of articles and info from 2000 and 2001 about David Lynch directing a series of Playstation ads. This is one of them.
This basic idea was used in a music video for U.N.C.L.E., where a tatty man is in a tunnel and a Merc crashes in to him - the car is destroyed, but the man is fine. I agree, with all Lynch's talk of 'looking for bigger fish', this seems like a very small one. Still a well-made video though. Check out my sheep anim.
@@aocidicoa 😁 You actually responded to a reply after 12 years lol that's awesome. It was pretty impressive, but I don't think Hollywood has lost the ability to do things like this nowadays.
@@VinnytotheK lol ❤️ I think it has ! Just too much CGI. Looks too fake. This comercial looks real, idk how to explain it. It’s like stop motion old movies like King Kong. Looks more tangible, plausible. As if it’s closer to reality. CGI looks without a soul.
was this before or after rabbit in your headlights? although i love lynch, i think jonathan glazer did a better job (or whoever was in charge of visual effects)
The reason it doesn't look like a Lynch video is beacause Lynch didn't direct this video. It's an enormously common mistake that everyone thinks Lynch directed a bunch of PS2 commercials but he only did one. The Third Place
wonderful piece of work. This time David shows something, so amazing, so much illusion, but no one could say this is not about the real playstation. GREAT COMMERCIAL
Now listen to me, I am talking directly in your ear now. I need you to do me a favor. You will do this for me. I need you to go to Gamestop, and I need you to ask the bastard working the counter if they have Bambi on the PS2. If you come back empty handed you'll be in big trouble mister. You will not see the light of day.
This music (and the scenery) reminds me of that very old Simpsons episode where they rent an RV and get lost in the forest. Are both that episode and this commercial based off of something else?
this is a lot like "rabbit in your headlights" by U.N.K.L.E. feat Thom Yorke. The director for that was Jonathan Glazer, so maybe this is his commercial I don't know...but it doesn't seem like David Lynch....
Sorry to spoil the fun but it seems Lynch had nothing to do with this commercial. It was directed by some bloke named Kevin Thomas. The only PS2 ad that Lynch did was the original "Welcome to the 3rd Place" ad, which became a series of themed/unconventional ads made by different people. Source? Idk just Google it ffs
yyeah.. the first test drive was the same game like this... when you went into a cow on the fields with your car, the cow was just standing right there and the car exploded... XD
Tbh this is probably one of the most normal david lynch directed things I've seen
It's "one of the most normal" simply because this commercial is not by David Lynch, who made ONLY "Welcome to the Third Place" for the Sony PlayStation 2

Well too bad, you can’t!!!
David Lynch made this commercial in 2000 for the Sony Play Station and the same "trick" has been done about two years earlier by Jonathan Glazer who directed the Rabbit in your Headlights video for Radiohead in 1998.

It was actually UNKLE's song featuring Thom Yorke

I would have love to play a game where you play an immortal deer destroying random cars driving down the road, just to see who is paying attention.

If it were Tim Burton, the deer would be stop motion animated and the whole ad would be in black and white.

13 years of Play Station 2! Farewell old friend ;)
after, this was made like 2000, and the rabbit in your headlights video came out in 98
Reminds me of the "Rabbit In Your Headlights" video. Yeah... It kicked ass then, it still does now.

No need for apologies.
Wow.... this kinda freaks me out with its early 2000's PSA vibes, but that final twist was so clever.

very very cute and nice but done before in the UNKLE video for Rabbit In Your Headlights ft. Thom Yorke

Bambi is the god of the universe and everything. He is superior to all other beings, and you must bow down.
This looks more like a Terrence Malick and Michael Bay collaboration.
