Wow. Some fantastic reissues George. I did not know that they released Unit Structures. I bought an original pressing about ten years ago. It took a while for me to really comprehend free jazz to the point of enjoyable. But now I love it. It was that album that opened up my whole new appreciation for jazz. So many good titles. How does the Miles Mofi sound overall? Rob/Boston
Hi rob. Yes I like a bit of ornette Coleman so I will get more into unit structures I like lps that take some time. The miles mofi do sound great probably the best available but miles 60s lp are crying out for a all analogue aaa Kevin gray or whoever release.
Good morning George. Those CTI records are always priced right. I think Van Gelder mastered all of those discs. Always enjoy your insights into the records you show. Been out golfing, or is the weather chasing you away? Cheers.
Evening jack. Weather fab here just now. We brake from golf this weekend as overdone it on holiday. Yip those cti records cheap and generally very good always worth picking up. Have a great week g
I've thought about buying Unit Structures for many years and never have done it. I saw him twice and have other albums so I have a pretty good idea what I will be hearing. I bought that Coltrane/Dolphy album and what I was sent was a pressing from Mexico. Inferior sound! After that I bought the CD and it sounds better. I'll probably sell the record.
I guess if you have his other records. Quite an iconic record so a must have for me. Coltrane/ dolphy not essential in his catalog but has been starting me in the face my local shop doesn’t have a great selection.
That is a great album cover for Cecil Taylor. I'm not sure I'd be able to make it through the whole album though. lol And the album title "No Room For Squares" is an all-time favorite. And the Coltrane/Dolphy album - just excellent, regardless of the sound quality. Except for all the drumming on side 4....it's a little too much. Thanks for showing the records George!
No problem randy. Yip Cecil is hard but good. No room for square’s just fab. Yes I knew what I was getting with the Coltrane dolphy. I still like it regardless.
I think Art Blakey had the odd writing credit but I'm struggling. Probably shared with someone else if I had to guess. You'll be right though hardly any, relatively speaking.
Hey Scott
some nice Jazz Pick ups! Thumbs up! Trish
Thanks Trish I appreciate that.
Another great haul George, that Art Blakey is an all star cast. I'll check out that Mobley. Thanks
Cheers mark. Can’t go wrong with Blakey. Yip the Mobley is worth getting. Have a great one. G
Nice pickups George. I need to get that no room for squares, even hearing it in the background it sounded cool - Mike
Hi Mike yes real good lp definitely worth picking up.
The album in the background sounds great George, a real ripper. Mobley, I need to check that one out, really love what I’m hearing.
Hi Steve yes it’s a real cool one. Sounds fab.
