@@jamesgriffithsmusic yip think miles in the second quintet were more advanced. Tubby was a nice revelation. Thanks for the nudge in the right direction.
I was tempted by the Tubby vinyl box at the time but ended up getting the CD box instead as I was so new to the world of British jazz that £50 seemed enough. Looks nice full size
I have all those Miles Bootlegs on CD, great stuff. Don’t think I will jump to vinyl for them though. I have never heard of Tubby Hayes. Is he from the UK? Nice box set but I have never even seen an album by him.
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 hi Steve yes tubby is from England. Quite a player he was. Four miles box sets released in one day is a bit overpowering but will see.
Tubby was absolutely great and his recordings were very hard to come by , 30 yrs ago I can remember them for sale in London for £ 250 each ! Happy listening .😊
The Tubby Hayes Box is one of the treasures of my collection. Worth every penny 👍
@@philipbolton7265 yup absolutely brilliant
Hi George. Nice selection, love Tubby Hayes. Lovely Miles box. The second great quintet is my favourite.
First heard the Ronnie Scott performance of Down at the Village on the compilation cd Impressed by Giles Peterson back in about 2001, amazing.
@@jamesgriffithsmusic hi James yip. Seen that comp going round. You were listening to that stuff early.
