You know if you tuck your head and body into the rounding of the barrel with the the horse he will feel that and he will be one with you and you with him ! When you get to erect in the saddle the horse will think you are wanting him to stop or slow down go thru the rounding of the barrel with him ! Rounding posture is everything…

The reins don't hurt and are very soft. I've hit myself with my reins HARD before, and it didn't hurt. And it's just to make sure the horse runs as fast as it can.

@@StukaLovernot all whipping or spurs are abuse. The whip is just to get the horse to listen a little better and encourage the horse to keep going and the spurs are the same way.

Some people don’t even wear spurs, but if they do, i’m pretty sure they test them on their skin and then lightly on their horse, making sure it doesn’t hurt. That’s what I did when I got my first ever spurs.(sorry if that sounded rude at all)
No worries! You do this so that the horse runs faster. I'm currently learning this and it really helps, as soon as the reins touch the horse's hindquarters it becomes faster, my horse is well trained, which means he knows that he has to run faster. However, my riding instructor said: "No one should make it so strong that it becomes unbearable for the horse..." -my wise riding instructor
