      #4 - Picking up BOLO items, you said that and all I could think was Frye, Wilfred, and Lululemon! I can’t move those brands, unless they’re Frye socks, only the socks lol!

      First mistake I made was picking up items I didn’t research 🧐. I still have this terrible pair of Charlotte Russe Stilettos with marker on the toe that I paid 7 bucks for a year ago sitting in my closet shaming me ! lol ! Every time I see them I am reminded to do my research! I don’t make that mistake any more, much 😉

    I don’t really share to parties anymore, but a good tip I saw (I think on Reddit?) is to check past parties to see what actually sold. Just another way to research good buys that I hadn’t thought of!

      @@tkucey8689 Sorry for the late reply! On the app go the shop tab, then scroll down to parties, scroll to the right until you get to a past party, click on it and sort items by sold. Hope that helps!

    I'm in a Posh group, and people are always complaining about lowball offers and I got fed up with that and made a post gently letting people know that EVERYONE in life wants to save money. Some people are looking for some real deals they wouldn't ever get from the brand/store, and some people are actually only able to spend a tiny bit and so they are doing the best they can. To sit there and shame someone or worse to lecture them on how hard you work and how they "should" offer more, is ridiculous. There are absolutely people who have lowballed and got the price they lowballed for. As a seller, I've ditched items that sat in my closet forever because it just wasn't worth the effort to share them anymore. You never know unless you ask. Seriously if Gucci had a make an offer button, do you they think people wouldn't use it AND lowball. It's not personal.....it's business!

    • @ashleygibson1
      @ashleygibson1  3 роки тому +4

      Oh my goodness, I’ve seen that too. Definitely not anything personal or something to lose sleep over. Counter or decline and move on is my favourite way to deal.

    • @CrimsonHound1
      @CrimsonHound1 Рік тому +1

      I'm a seller and I male plenty of offers. That is the point of the app 😂
      Who is upset over getting an offer? Just DON'T accept it. I love to come across other sane people like you.. yikes

    • @Banyo__
      @Banyo__ Рік тому

      @@CrimsonHound1 exactly! Just because someone makes an offer doesn't mean you have to accept so keep it moving! I always accept or counter. So many are testing how low you'll go but they come up or walk away...either is fine bc again, it's just business!

    • @boop5287
      @boop5287 Рік тому

      Nah there’s a limit to lowballing. Some offers are just rude

  • @ritaribs3724
    @ritaribs3724 2 роки тому +2

    OK, you are officially my new Posh Bestie! Your advice is spot on! I follow a few Posh groups and people constantly stress over 4 stars or less and lowball offers! They waste so much time and energy over the offensive offer, or convinced buyer is lying about their feelings in the feedback scoring system, that only they can see! WHY? Because they are hurt about something no one else can see? I'd be glad no one saw it! That I messed up, or even that a buying is trifling! But I never see them come and say, yeah, I messed up! I've done other platforms where you can see every ding, every misstep and so can anyone else! That's when that stuff can hurt, financially. But as a sometime buyer on these platforms, sometimes things to arrive broken, stinking like cat, or worse, and I ALWAYS give the seller an op to fix it and then rate THAT! Stuff happens! If a seller makes it right, thats a 5 star in my opinion! Some people act like they packed it like it was going across the street and there was no chance of it being dropped, kicked, or tossed onto someones porch! Pack it like it might encounter King Kong! An extra .50 of bubble wrap is still cheaper than a return! A lowball offer, for me, usually ends up being a persnickety buyer who is unhappy about everything else, but I still treat it like a possible sale, because sometimes, its just someone looking for a better deal and its worked for them! Sometimes, its someone new. But its better than hearing nothing and getting nothing! Thank you for EVERYTHING! Will be watching ALL your videos! Smart girl!

    Can I offer another? I research ALL sizes and styles. If you are offering a "plus size" garment NEVER say "Selling because I lost weight" or "This is WAY oversized and too big for me". No one cares why you are selling something, but these kinds of statements can be triggering and/or offensive. Thanks!

    • @ashleygibson1
      @ashleygibson1  3 роки тому +3

      Really great point. I think it’s always best to steer clear of “why” you’re selling the item, and definitely agree that those kinds of comments are just unnecessary!!

    Great video, Ashley!! My biggest mistake on Poshmark was spending too much time sharing other’s closets. When I first started, I was in a share group and I would spend about an hour a night sharing other people’s closets. • @streetofdreams4538

    These are very good tips! Related to #9: Don't fail to respond to questions about your poorly-detailed listings!
    There are quite a few items I liked and may have bought, IF the seller had responded to crucial questions about measurements and fabric type in particular.
    You usually can't just list "size Small" and be done with it, especially for older items. Sizing has changed over the years, and even today it can vary significantly between one brand and another.
    Besides all that, it makes it look like you don't care about selling the item, which definitely doesn't inspire confidence in the buyer! I like what you said about putting yourself in the buyer's place--treat them accordingly!

    awesome video!!! I agree with everything! I have for sure made a lot of these mistakes especially with the BOLO lists. I watch a lot of US resellers so I was picking up a lot of what they were saying. I learned real quick that brands are so different from Canada and the US. So now I just pick up brands that I like or what my friends co workers like and see what is the most popular for them. I also pick up a lot based on style as well and just use really good key words. I have learnt a lot from people on UA-cam but sometimes you just got to try things for yourself and see what works and what doesn't. Thank you for this video its nice to hear I am not the only one that struggles with the reviews hahaha

    Interesting thoughts. I agree with most but I don't waste my time on extremely low ball offers. If I'm selling an item for $25 & a buyer offers $4, I decline. Give a respectful offer & I will accept or counter. Also, an IND from an untruthful buyer can hurt a seller. Once the IND is on there, there's nothing you can do about it. I believe Poshmark can dismiss you for having too many. Not real happy with Poshmark right now.

Then I typically give them some time/space to get back to me. If a few days have gone by, I may send along an offer or another message with my proposed offer. I'm just wondering if an immediate offer on a bundle works better? Or should I be sending offers on the things they liked individually as well? All suggestions welcome :)

    Poshmark also makes A TON of money on what everyone is selling on it, so that's why they want you to share everyone else's closet's too & require you to share 5,000 other Posher's listings to become an Ambassador, which isn't beneficial to Posher's anyways, it's like a clique badge & seems like a shady greedy scheme to me!

    I had the app suspend me for a day. I'm not sure why. Someone offered me $4 for a pair of jeans and I agreed. However, I gave her a shipping discount. If I didn't have the money in the Poshmark app, could that have caused this to happen? I figured they would take it from the card on file or you'd pay the post office. It made me afraid to bundle or give shipping discounts. I'm not sure that was the problem. It could have been a mistake due to the computer . I can't find anything on the app about using a shipping label incorrectly.

    Ashley, question...who do you share your items with? your followers? on Facebook? I'm new to it so don't know how to share stuff yet.

    • @ashleygibson1
      @ashleygibson1  3 роки тому +3

      Good question! There’s a little button on each listing with arrows (kind of looks like the recycling sign, or re-tweet sign) and you use that to share your listings within Poshmark. It shares to your followers, but more importantly it helps to bring it to the top of Poshmark’s search results!

    One more question. Di you send an offer to all of the people that liked your listing? I can’t figure out why, if someone likes your listing, they don’t just make an offer. Thanks love your videos.

    • @ashleygibson1
      @ashleygibson1  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! I almost always send offers to folks who like my items. People "like" things on Poshmark for different reasons - sometimes they intend to purchase down the road, sometimes it's to save something and other times they intend to purchase. Everyone uses it a bit differently

    • @streetofdreams4538
      @streetofdreams4538 2 роки тому

      Yes, and they may be undecided about the item and want to "bookmark" it to review later, or they may be waiting for a special deal such as Poshmark's periodic Closet Clearout events, during which the shipping is lowered when the seller discounts the item.

    Just wondering - if you share other people's listings, and then they share yours, wouldn't that move your items to the top of the search more often than if you'd only done it yourself sharing your own listings? If so, isn't is worth it to be nice and share others' listings in case they share yours too in return?

    • @ashleygibson1
      @ashleygibson1  3 роки тому +2

      Good question! Your items only go to the top of search when you share them yourself. If someone else shares your item it may show up in their newsfeed, but it doesn’t go to the top of search. Since most people shop via search in Poshmark and don’t really look at their newsfeed as much, it’s much more beneficial to share your own listings than focus on sharing others’.

    Is there a way to talk to an actual customer service rep? I have emailed customer support numerous times with no response. I only have 1 item in my closet, bc I wasn't planning to have a closet. I just wanted to " reposh' a dress that was too large. I could have had a huge closet but over time have been regularly butglarized. Mist all my jewelry, clothing and shoes all designer stolen. Couldn't claim on insurance bc of identify theft. My mail is being stolen. Email and phone hacked. Schemes by my narcissistic ex. My issue is that now I no longer have a printer to print labels & I'm so embarrassed over it Ive pretty much abandoned my dress that I need to sell so badly. Pple are asking about it and idk what to tell them? If I I put a not for sale tag on it I think pple who are interested will forget about it? I'm afraid I'll look like a crazy person. I'm also disabled, and recently lost my car bc of same said circumstances. Can the mail carrier pick up pkgs for you? I'm sorry for sounding like a drama queen. It is what it is ..for now. I just need some assistance and not getting any. I don't want to come off as negligent or rude. Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you

      You don’t need a printer. Poshmark will send you. QR code that can be scanned at the post office and adhered to your box. That being said, you need to be able to get there. Sorry for all your misfortune right now.

    One question if you don’t have followers and you share your items who are you sharing it to it. Bc everytime you shared it says sharing to followers so I don’t get it. That’s the reason people try to follow other followers

    • @ashleygibson1
      @ashleygibson1  3 роки тому +3

      That’s definitely a bit confusing and they should change the wording! When you share your own item, it actually does more than just share to your followers - because it takes it back to the top of search for that brand or that item. Sharing your own items is really helpful (and they should really change the language on that page)

    Let's say someone has like 1 item (or even 3 items), I put it in a bundle with a short sweet message (sales, accepting offers ect.), would this be considered an unwanted bundle?

    • @ashleygibson1
      @ashleygibson1  3 роки тому +2

      I do the same thing! That being said, some folks don’t know that when they “like” something (or many things) they’re expressing interest in an item vs. Just liking something that you think is cute like you would on social media. So, personally I wouldn’t find something like that unwanted, but someone else may be different!

    • @ashleygibson1

      Not a dumb question! On Poshmark there's the "feed" which is similar to other social media platforms where you see folks' updates, shared items etc. And then there's "news". In News is where you'll see comments, offers, orders and likes. Hope that helps!

      I'm not sure exactly what kind of items you have, but I just wanted to chime in to add that a lot of people around millenial age are really into "vintage" clothing, often the older the better!
      If the clothing is from the 1930s to 1960s eras, or even from the 1970s to 1990s but resembles those earlier styles in style, it tends to be in quite high demand! Some of us "younger people" find that older clothes typically have classier styles and are far better made than today's clothing, so there's a great interest.
