    Worst mistake I see on any resale site is lack of measurements, whether it is a handbag or clothing item. I get so frustrated when I want to buy an item and there are no measurements. Then I gave to send a question and wait a couple days to get a response. So I will just move on to a seller that has all the info I need to make a decision. Also I cannot believe the horrible photos or lack of photos for an item. Especially any flaws should be shown. And my biggest pet peavey is odor, I have asked before buying if any odors such as perfume or smoke. I recently purchased a purse that I love but it reeks of perfume. The only reason I kept was a good price and the hope I could get the smell out. People need to know that strong odors can make some people sick with migraines etc. Sorry to rant but I am a very conscience seller and buyer.

      I've been wondering about the odor problem. I'm not a reseller (yet) but the clothing I have thrifted for myself sometimes takes three or four washings to get rid of odor. That's a lot of water used to make it usable. Also, if resellers use highly fragrance detergent (Tide comes to mind) surely there are buyers who have problems with this, too. I'm researching poshmark today, trying to decide if I want to open a closet...

      When I get items that reek of cigarette or other odors, it is also frustrating for me. I am a bit OCD when selling and easily get frustrated as a person who has migraines on a daily basis If I purchase an item that smells but the overall quality is good, I will wash and I add Vinegar to the wash. I will also use presoak and always double rinse. This has always worked for me.
      If you're have an item with tags that I plan to resell and it smells of cigarettes, that item is going to be hung outside for at least a couple of days. If I have to remove the tags, I will use the above method to complete the process. Hope this helps!
      Also, note of caution: If steaming or using the steam refresh setting on your dryer, be sure to give your garments time to dry prior to packaging - if you do not, you risk moisture getting left in your packaging which will smell moldy or sour! #poshmarklessons

    I read that earlier this year Poshmark changed the algorithm favoring sellers that sell more and are more active over those who sell little or do not sell at all, AKA newbies. The established sellers who have consistent sells get promoted and placed ahead of any others for their their number of sales. I guess Poshmark values more sellers than bring more money. Unfortunately, that prevents new sellers from reaching that point of sales and grow. There are also other algorithm and features that favored big sellers over the newbies. In my case, it looks very ironic. I was selling from the first week. I thought by becoming an Ambassador, I would get more sale, but no. The sales stopped all together the moment I became an Ambassador, despite Poshmark “promise” of highlighting the closet on the feed, etc, etc. 😮

    This video spoke to me haha I recently starting selling on posh again in the last year or so, and I will have soo many sales, then nothing. When I make a lot of sales, I rush out to retail stores and buy so much stuff to sell, get home and post it, and it doesn't sell. It's like a high lol When I eventually do sell it, I barely make a profit or I just about get my money back. Thank you for this video!

      All the selling platforms are designed the same way. The more you list the more you sale, so simple. No matter if you have 100, 200, 300, items listed, you need more than than that to get results. These platforms redirect the traffic to the sellers with more items listed, because to them it's where the money is. I just barely started on Poshmark like 3 months ago, I have like 168 items listed, I don't have consistent sales, I know myself that I need at least double up that amount to start getting results. Anyone telling people that is making easy money with 200 or 300 items in stock, he's/ she's lying, unless they sell drugs. Those are my two cents!

    Wow these are all so helpful. I started selling on Poshmark a few months ago and while I'm not in the red, I'm definitely not making the money I want. I think my biggest mistake was getting anxious at the thrift store, and feeling like I needed to buy a large amount of inventory. I really like your tip of setting a goal of a smaller amount of items per week. I've bought large amounts of inventory and come home, realizing that many of the items have flaws. I've been really hard on myself but I think by applying your tips, I'm going to start feeling a bit more relaxed and actually enjoy the whole process :) Thank you!

    • @lorikodama8212
      @lorikodama8212 11 місяців тому

      Don't be so hard on yourself. I think most other sellers make those same mistakes. Think of it as learning the business. Making mistakes are the best way of learning what not to do the next time. Thankfully, you're probably sourcing from thrift stores and garage sales so your investment on these items are minimal. Just donate the items you can't use and continue on with your journey. I've found that if you are running low on funds, try sourcing items that you have laying around at home. They may have more value than you think😉
