This album is underrated, imo I feel like fans were cautious because of St. Anger. It's like you go to a good restaurant and have a bad meal then not sure about going again
NAAAH you did Suicide & Redemption dirty
A G R E E
Absolutely love this album, to me it’s a no skip album. Listen to it all the time!
Same!!!!
I like death magnetic! Imo it was their comeback album🤘🏻I agree, my apocalypse is easily one of the best songs on it!
Out of the albums post 2000 this is still the best one they made
A G R E E
The Day That Never Comes and Suicide & Redemption are 10/10
My apocalypse? All nightmare long?
Love this album. I look back on it fondly for different reasons. All Nightmare Long is in my top few favourite Metallica songs.
I actually can't believe you don't like the riffs on Suicide & Redemption when you like the riffs on The Judas Kiss. It would probably have been better if it wasn't an instrumental and as long as it, but those riffs are banging.
All nightmare long is the best metallica song since "and justice for all". like, its definetly one my top 5 favurites of all time
My favorite Metallica album from XXI century
Cyanide is amazing and sooooo fucking fun to play.
Their best album since Black Album.
All Nightmare Long shocked me about how good it was.
I remember Cyanide being the first song I heard off this album back when I was in highschool. Me an my band buddies we're pretty excited to hear a new Kirk solo. I tend to skip it these days but I do like that chorus riff.
Huge fan of unforgiven six
When Hetfield first sings "You've reached the end of the line" and the guitars bloom into that riff is the high point of the album for me.
Plus this is the only 70+minute album they've done that feels shorter
Agree
^pushing sixty 👍
their last truly creative album. After that, they became a retro band
there is so much here that would have never happened on their classic albums. Sure, it's inspired by their early material, but also by current metal, Load and even St. Anger
A strong return to form, if you ask me. Listening to some remastered versions really does wonders to enjoy this album a lot. I would say RTL is at least -A, while this one is a +B. I'm curious what you would say about next album's Spit Out The Bones.
The Guitar Hero version and 2016 iTunes remaster both fix a lot of the production issues, especially the compression. The bass is more discernible, the drums are a little less clippy, and the guitars sound like actual guitars instead of angry static noise. It’s a bit less heavy but much more dynamic and easy on the ears. The iTunes version is the version Metallica now officially sells on their website. I don’t know if it’s on other streaming services tho.
Hey bro, I believe I’ve watched all of your Retrospective Metallica videos now.
This one is definitely taking words out of my mouth.
And I’m aware now that Load being your least favorite album and this one here being the one that was current when you were first introduced to Metallica. Load is that album for me. I was 11 when the Black album videos hit MTV. Load came out when I was 14, and that was actually the first album I was grown up mentally enough to actually buy. Load is fun to sing along to, even if any of the lyrics hardly make sense.
Bleeding Me is my ALL-TIME favorite Metallica song. It was an good album for the young and fresh new Metallica fan self in me.
Also! Everyone seems to hate Escape form Ride, but that fun ASF to sing to also!!
Death Magnetic intentionally push the amps to their breaking point on purpose. Maybe Rick Ruben wasn’t a good choice for a producer. St Anger was intentionally grungy and distorted.
They’re good for their times.
Hardwired holds great significance for my life. And now 72… Freakin cool.
I’m Metallica to the CORE.
I agree with you on a lot.
I give your Metallica Retrospect Videos a solid B+
💯🫡😎🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🎤🎧🎼🎹🪇🥁🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎻🪘
That album is insane good 🤘🤘🤘
Best metallica album since "Puppets"
Don’t disrespect Unforgiven 3 ever again…
congratulations, you hit the algorithm jackpot
This is my favorite album. Is it perfect? No (well to me it is, but probably not in the grand scheme of things). Is it brickwalled to shit? Yeah, but fuck if I care. I have fun listening to this album every single time I pop the CD in and it gets me through a rough day
My 3 favs from this album are, that was just your life, broken beat and scarred and judas kiss. These songs are very special. I also got my first speed ticket listening to one of these 3 songs.
Great album. I skip load reload st anger. Then go to this one.
Mad props 👏 bro👊. My take. James really hadn't mad riffed in ages. Rick from what I know dropped mop album and said I want this. It is the best effort in thrash in decades for the band. Kirk's solos have absolutely been horrible since black with minor highlights ugh!! John's lines finally got a spotlight. Lars hasn't been pushed in ages. Overall the album compared to black thru dm was the best. Retrospect is excellent. Looking forward to the scathing and promising reviews.
Couldn’t disagree more on suicide and redemption. Epic song.
This album is great! I'll give it a C.
WTF??
i said it was deCent
I love Death and Beyond Magnetic overall.
Other than one guitar but, I'd ditch Cyanide, and other than James portion of the solo, I'd ditch the instrumental. With those ditched, we could fit 2, if not 3, of the Beyond Magnetic tunes on here.
I'd consider swapping end of the Line to get all Beyond Magnetic tunes on this.
I actually love Un3. But I don't understand why Un2 exists. Reload is my least favorite of theirs, and that's one of the reasons.
I can understand your opinion of Cyanide, but come on man, UN3 and Suicide are incredible tracks. They need more love. Also you liked 7 out of 10 tracks so you should give it at least a B.
Death Magnetic is definitely a high point in Metallicas career.
I may be the only person who loves the blown out sound.
Heavy as fuck with melody.
Everything I love about Metallica.
after AJFA they were done
Beyond Magnetic EP in another video then?
I wanted this retrospective to focus on the full length studio albums. In the future I might cover it when I look at stuff like the S&M records, the Hardwired bonus tracks, and maybe even Lulu.
@@Ahmedic Nice
Cyanide is fucking hard the groove of the riffs with hetfields powerful delivery is a forgetful find that speeds the album up enjoyably.
ur silence concerning the link between giving head and contracting HPV borne cancer is deafening
and i will remain silent on this issue.

It’s funny how your least fav songs from it are my favs and your favs are me least favorites 😂. That stretch from The Day that Never Comes to S&D is great (minus that lazy ass main riff from Judas kiss, the chorus should’ve been the main riff as well). And The opener is solid too. Only songs I’m not too hot about is tracks 2,3, and My Apocalypse (The Escape the Fate song by the same name is much better and came out 2 years prior)
Why did they sound so bad in production and mixing of anger and death, both albums sound bad but the live versions are cool
Fair review... but like all Metallica recent albums, its over produced and too long.. even St anger was too long, probably wouldnt have been half as anoying if they cut it down.
It’s a boring album, it’s like AJFA part 2
Too much bass tho
ARE YOU GONNA DO LULU?
its noce to hear praise for this album. its not bad just badly produced
Something it shares in common with Justice for all
@@navylaks2 no that album is perfect
