Drummer Sterling Campbell left Cyndi Lauper for Duran Duran, then after the Liberty album he joined David Bowie soon after where he stayed over a decade. Incredible drummer!
I went the Duran Duran Big Thing Tour in 1988 in Portland, Oregon. My boyfriend took me to see Duran Duran. I believe my then boyfriend was Jealous. The only song he knew was Wild Boys. This concert was my dream concert to go too. Thank you Duran Duran!
Presente la prima delle 3 serate di Milano..il più bello che ho visto al pari di quello dell arena di verona 17 anni dopo il primo in Italia in formazione originale
I noticed that when the camera is not totally on John's face he doesn't smile but as soon as he sees the camera straight on him he gets this big grin. He definitely knows where that camera is! Lol!!!
🗽 Arcadia, and John Taylor is me favorite sound of Duran Duran. This album『 BIG THING 』is me favorite. 「 The wild boys / Drug ( It s just a state of mind ) 」 That fatal kiss, MEET EL PRESIDENTE 🍫
Thought I heard it all... but this is the first time I hear a live version of WInter Marches On! Wow! Also, Big Thing live is so much better than the studio album.
I went to this tour at the Edinburgh Playhouse on the 11th April I think it was in 1989. Just got back from the Soviet Union with my old school and had this to look forward to. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. 🏴🏴🏴🙏🙏🙏
Hope they come back to NYC after the funk is over. One of my childhood favorites in the 80's, but never got to see them. Hope I get to see them as an old dude. Excellent work over all the years.
@@lonelyheroine He used to look hot, smoldering, actually...now the embers are even cold...but., he still can sing great... not as good, but worth a listen.
How I adore the BIG THING concert. And i have the full concert on the Big Thing official CD/DVD re-issue. Duran got their edge back after the not so edgy Notorious album. I feel on Big Thing there was a bit of the old Duran with the edge, inventiveness and cool structure but also a new leg wirth some great deep atmospheric slower moments. And I love the backing singers with Duran, it just all workd. And I love their Big Thing look in particular John and Nick who look sublime. Also love all the designs that match the band and the backing vocalists xxxxx
Big Thing is one of my favorite albums from them probably #4 behind Rio, their Debut and Notorious... They are so good live, something they are very underrated for
@@k1productions87 look on Amazon.com. They have it. Both on CD & DVD but it's $202.00! 🤔 So maybe out of your price range? But the CD is $20.00 but without some of the songs. I love Winter Marches On. The lady's voice & Simon's blend perfectly & then he dances with her.. truly beautiful! And so is the woman! ♥️
I saw them in Chicago on this tour. It was amazing. I have audio recording of it still. It's on a cassette tape so I can't play it 😢 I went with a friend of mine that sadly since passed away from an accident. I'm happy to have the memories.
I've seen DD several times, from 1983 to 2014. Yes, this was during their 'fallow' period, but these are the most musically muscular and interesting arrangements I've ever seen from them (I did not witness this tour live). This is a cracking show. These live versions of Big Thing material are way stronger than their studio counterparts. Live, DD tend to be a bit juke box these days, too often playing the same hits in the original arrangements every time - they'd do well to re-learn from this.
So true. I saw them on this tour in Belgium, and indeed the Big Thing material, especially Drug(just a state of mind) worked really well. One could say they were in an experimental phase, trying to mix things up. Mind you that these days they try to convince their audience by playing their classics as tight as possible, but then a carreer spanning over 40 years does that to artists. Their stint at Vegas on Halloween last year was breathtakingly original though (check it out, it's here on you tube). On occasion they still rock it with some sheer surprises. On a note, there's to be mentioned that an Italian or Latin American show always works for them anyway...☺😉
I really enjoyed this too. I just saw them in Tampa this past June (2023 for those who reading this years from now lol!) they're still rearranging their tunes to keep them fresh, and Simons vocals are really solid
I guess its fun to be there and one would expect to just hear the classics the way the were originally intended but it makes for a very unoriginal boring watch if you weren't there. i watched the Hollywood roof top concert in cinema. It was pretty meh. I would much rather have watched a rescreening of Arena when they were still young singing those songs
This is the best I've ever heard them sound live without Roger & Andy. They needed to keep the same back-up singers too. They fit with the style of music, and the crowd.
Best ever without Andy & Roger. Too bad they didn't keep them & the back-up singers and the trombone player! They all blended in so well with each other!
Wow, I watched the entire concert at midnight. Thanks for the video! Saw them twice on this tour. One of the shows in New Orleans...fun memories! Love the Big Thing album!
This was my first proper concert - well, at least this tours stop in St Paul, MN. I was just a kid - my parent had to take me, but I was in complete awe.
It was my first D2 concert as well. I was in college at the time, and travelled all the way from Joplin, MO to attend with my HS best friend to see the show in the Twin Cities. If it was the Orpheum, we were at the same show.

Warren es un excelente guitarrista, casi virtuoso.
