It was a wonderful experience watching this video. And I just love the soft pastels. I know many people don't like them, but I really do. Thanks so much for this.
This was lovely. Marvelous palette! And I am one of those people who usually can’t tolerate ASMR. 😂 But this made me realize it’s human ASMR that I can’t stand - whispering, slurping, breathing, chewing. 😖 Art supply ASMR and your calm voice over is divine. 💗 Thank you! 😊
I enjoy both of your UA-cam format presentations. The ASMR sounds are satisfying to me. But I also enjoy seeing your joyful smile, gorgeous hair, and eyes. I am not typically a fan of music on art videos, but your selections are wonderful. I say do whatever brings you the most joy!
I just found you, I'm intrigued by the fact that you use wet medium with your soft pastels, that's something I've never heard of! I'm definitely going to try it the next time I dust off mine, tyfs. Also, those little windows surrounding your work area are fabulous, looking out on such a peaceful view must really add to the relaxation and rejuvenation you get from creating.
thanks for that! super relaxing to watch, and beautiful colours. i can't use pastels because i have texture issues - they make me feel sick! but i love seeing other people use them! 😊
Is there any art medium that you don’t have in those exact colors?😂 Nice to watch you experiment with the pastels. What a lovely setting to have outside your home💕 The whole video was super cozy and relaxing. Thank you for sharing!😘
ouh no you got me there! :D I think I have those colours in most mediums if not all. Yes, its really beautiful here, also super calming surrounding area. Thank you for watching! :)
Hi Kriksis, I just wanted to tell you how awesome it is to watch your story, I just saw your interview on Melanie Chadwick channel. You are very inspiring and i cant wait to watch your videos. Thanks for sharing your art.
Oh, cool! Now I know, what ASMR means.I felt asleep after 10 minutes. Nice to have, thank you, but not in every video in the future. Promise? Your experiments with pastels are very inspiring. I grabbed my old ones and try several things too. Had so much fun with layering on the top (color pencil and pencil). Gorgeous structures and optical color mixing. Have a nice week!
Fun to see your experimentation with the pastels for swatching and your landscape studies are way cool. I like no music :) Keep trying out different video formats; you are good at it
thank you Deb! I am happy you enjoyed the video and this new format! I just thought to try something new and just experiment with it too, like the same I experiment with art and mixed media. :))
You are welcome. I surgested Sandi to look up Karen Margulis. I know she is practicing this clearing of soft pastells. She allso uses lots of different ways of underpaintings for her pastellpaintings.
Thank you for sharing your opinion on soft pastels! Definitely not everyones cup of tea! I felt the same, as I don't like the smuging, but now I discovered that I can mix it with gum arabic or water and it takes that dust away so now I'm fine with it, but I see where you are coming from!
I like the change, sometimes the music is super loud and distracting compared to the rest of the video, so having background noise instead is really nice. I don't experience the ASMR reaction at all, so I can't comment on that aspect. But it was super cosy as always, and beautiful art! What did you think about the fixative?
Thank you Claudia for your comment! :) About braking the pastels - I am using the smaller pieces first so I can use not only the top but also sides of each pastel. If I would be using the sides of whole pastel it would make super big marks and would not be the best for smaller sketchbooks for example. One of the light beige pastels broke apart completely and it wasn't intentional, I'm still going to use crumbs through. All the other halves I am storing in different box and will use when I run out of these smaller halves. I hope I explained well enough. :) Also I am keeping every single small crumb that broke as I hate wasting product.
Breaking pastels is how professional pastel artists both make a range of surfaces for mark making AND use up every last scrap of pastel. It's the norm! :D Emma Colbert explains it beautifully here: ua-cam.com/video/0Yah9eQ_Aoc/v-deo.html
I had to watch the video on mute 😭 would have preferred you talking or even music. Most of these noises make my jaw and teeth clench. I don’t understand the sudden hype with ASMR videos…for those of us with auditory sensory processing issues, these are a nightmare to sit through. So I’m not sure if you said anything important throughout, but these new colors were gorgeous and the art you created was lovely 😘

Oh I’m the same! Can’t stand whispering since I was a child

thank you for sharing. I am a beginner at pastels... like a real rookie.
What an amazing video
of course I can't resist

Gorgeous.
thank you! Yes that was an accident. :D I am braking them so I can use the smaller pieces, but for that one I will just be using crumbles.
Hi, This is a lovely video. Og you place your pastels on a layer of rice, it will help keeping them clean and prevent smutching in the box.
Thank you Hanne! I have heard about the rice from Sandi Hester, thank you for suggesting it too! :)
You are welcome. I surgested Sandi to look up Karen Margulis. I know she is practicing this clearing of soft pastells. She allso uses lots of different ways of underpaintings for her pastellpaintings.
What paper did you use for this video?
I found myself falling asleep though, and would jolt my eyes open because I didn't want to miss it! 😆😘 It was incredibly calming!
I am happy that it was super calming! :D :))
I cannot stand using soft pastels but I like the look so I live vicariously though you

I enjoyed your video very much. I'm curious why you broke the pastels it seems like you wasted a lot of product.
