A person with a regular pole sander could do that too if they aren't careful. Power Sanders can leave a beautiful finish or a terrible finish, it depends on the operator of the sander, and their knowledge and experience with the machine - their choice of grit and brand of paper, interface pad, suction level setting, RPM speed setting, and tool movement speed across the surface.
The only reason you need to sand is if you’re applying too much mud. If you know how to tape…..you don’t leave the high spots. Sorry, Dude. Learn how to apply mud.
Well nowadays these guys don’t have to. Mud is applied along with the tape in one swipe via an automatic taping tool and sanding as you can see here. If you have a few grands to invest in these tools your body will thank you.

Maybe I just didn't give the machine a chance or I need more time on it to have an opinion? But I found that it was heavy and super easy to leave groves in the Finnish and it was still very dusty but like I said .could be that I just didn't give it a chance...I just like using the regular old rectangular sanding pole with 150 grit for level 3
oh sweet man! that sounds amazing for small stuff and I never even thought of using a small guy.i have the Mirka leros it's fantastic but too big for service work
I work for a big Museeum in Germany, we have to finish around 1000 square meters in 2 weeks in Q4. We use the Festo and a Flex sander. If you do this all day, itˋs still pretty exhausting. But still happy we donˋt need to do this by hand. Well all the edges and the floor connection is done by hand.
That tool is amazing, I'd love to buy one but it's too much money, I don't do drywall everyday. You know of any cheaper models that get the job done halfway decent? I have makita batteries I hope the makita is decent
There are some really cheap brands on Amazon, such as WEN, but they have mixed reviews. The video reviews I've seen of the Makita look promising. The cons of all power sanders is they don't work well for inside corners, and outside corner beads need to be coated very full, otherwise it's a rigid disk sanding on a sloped surface, and that'll cause grooves. My overall technique is to sand 95% of what I want to take off with the power sander, then quickly buff out the remaining 5% with a regular pole sander with foam backed sand paper.
@@capodad2uHello, could you send me the link of the sander you bought please, I'm looking for one but they are very expensive and I have doubts about buying a cheaper one because I don't know how it works as a sander
@@farmerjimmy7453 I worked for a company that had a few and if I remember correctly there were like 2 grand a piece. But that could just be the owner telling me whatever the fuck he wants so we take care of em lol
About $2300 US for sander and dust extractor. Sander is about 1300 and vacuum is 1000. The dust extractor (just a glorified vacuum really) has a built in auto clean filter, which periodically shakes itself to prevent the filter from being clogged with drywall dust. A regular shop vac could work but you'd have to remove the filter every 10 minutes and bang it against something to remove the dust.
Lol couldn't help it, the UA-cam shorts are more for fun I figure. I'd buy everything Festool if I could afford it. Would like to get their drywall screw gun.
It's a good machine. I paint too, I use a cordless leaf blower to clear dust actually. Load my tools in, put a good dust mask on tight, blow the walls and ceiling, open a few windows, then go finish my coffee in the truck while the dust clears. Then go in and start spraying.
What’s it been - 60 yrs and we finally have great techniques and the right tools to do drywall. I almost killed my self working in the trade in the ‘50’s.
Makes everything easier but should only be used on taking off old textured ceilings and walls it's not good for a finished product cuz you you will leave grossing everything sorry don't care how good you are with it but that's truth
I never seen this brand but is the motor on the disc cause if so that would be really tiring to throw that weight around at the end instead of the middle like the porter cable . Not saying porter is better cause I’ve never personally even seen one of these

Hey ya , can u gave us a link for purchased the soft pad and back pad , I got the festool easy with the original back pad which is black colour at the back , and I do research online that there have a white back pad out there , should I change that black back pad to white back pad ? And plus inter soft pad as well ? My festool easy not can’t sand to the edge properly it take heaps of sanding paper to finish the project 😅
Best sand paper is sponge backed, does this sander allow for this kind of sand paper? How heavy is this sander compared to a pole sander? I'd recommend an air scrubber when sanding.
It doesn't. It has a soft pad under the standard paper. I typically run the machine, aiming to sand down 90% of what I want taken off, then buff out the last 10% with a standard pole sander with sponge backed paper. It's 10lbs, so it does feel heavy after a few hours, but it's fast so I'm usually never using it for more than 1-2 hours on a typical house at the sanding stage. Air scrubber would be helpful, I just use a dust respirator mask and crack a window. I'd only recommend this machine for people who do high volume work.
I'd love to try one for a few weeks. I've used some of the cheaper models from several diff brands, and as long as you have a larger powerful vac and some decent filters you can kill majority of the dust. To me I'm looking for something that's pretty light, so ceilings are ez to sand after skimming flat, and I'm getting most of the dust. Maybe this spring I can get into a festool set up. I know it's worth the investment, would be nice to demo with one for a while before making that decision tho
I've heard of other people getting demo units of both the Festool Planex2, and Mirka Leros, those are the best Sanders on the market. By contacting them directly apparently, I've never tried, just what I heard.
There is a frame that you can put the sanders on which carries the vacuum and cables and makes the job so much easier. It's a cantilever system and you can operate it with one hand.
Is there a reason you only sanded the screws with this and not the joints? I assume a power sander would remove alot of material very quickly and easily take off to much?
The original video was me sanding the whole ceiling, but I just edited out most to fit the 60 second limit to qualify as a YT Short. It won't take off too much if it's fitted with the right grit sandpaper and kept at the right RPM setting, and moved down the joints with the proper motion speed. It's a complicated tool that that has a learning curve. In the wrong hands it could easily take off too much. With an experienced operator it can leave a beautiful dust free flat and polished finish.

I used to think like that 20 years ago. Power sanders save tons of work and only cause those problems if the operator is retarded.
Festool ❤
Where to sales
I think the best thing is the lack of dust. This machine truly makes drywall sanding dustless
this is the only way I would take drywall work.
It also cleans off your sandpaper, so that it doesn’t clog up to where you’re rubbing dust on joint compound
