Thanks so much for the tutorial, super helpful! I miss the segments of “what to do this month in your garden” as I used to just copy whatever you suggest to do 🤣 wish you will do those again in every monthly video! 🙏🏼
Where have you BEEN at California Gardening!!! Love your ACCENT and your details. You know how to break this down!!! very, VERY SIMPLE and easy steps to follow. You don't RUSH the steps; you are going very slow so everyone can UNDERSTAND you better. Keep us UPDATED on what you have been UP TO!!! ^_^
Thank you so much for making this video. It’s great to see right from the beginning of seed starting mix to transfer to larger pot. It’s super super helpful. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this video! Very straightforward and simple! One of my goals for this year was to start a patio garden (I live in an apartment) and this will definitely help me on my journey. Thank you again! 😊
Your videos are highly educative with useful information. Thank you for giving inspiration even to someone like me -with no knowledge about growing veggies.
This was wonderful, thank you so much! I can't think of anything that wasn't covered in your video, and I'm so grateful for your knowledge! Thanks again!
Very good tips. I been wanting to start some flower seeds. I'm actually over-wintering Supertunias in my house under some grow lights right now. Thank you for sharing
I use doggy poop bags. Poke holes abd stand them up inside a Tupperware..... When ready to transplant make a slit in the bottom of the bag and plant the whole bag into the ground and then slip the bag out over the top of the plant so that way the roots don’t get disturbed
Tx for this... you have mentioned when the first fertilisation is to start. How often should we fertilize seedlings and for how long before transplant?
This is so helpful! I wanted to reuse my egg cartons, however, once you need to start watering, don’t they get very soggy, especially since you recommend bottom watering? I may also buy a couple of the self-watering seed cell trays from Gardener’s Supply. I think this will help me make sure they don’t dry out, since I can be very forgetful! Also, I was surprised you have a frost date in Irvine. For some reason I didn’t think we had any frost dates in OC!
Yes I agree, any cardboard like egg carton get mushy after watering. Plastic works better and is reusable many times. Yes we do get frosts occasionally in Irvine. The last time we got it was in 2017 but see this hailstorm and ice we got in Jan 2017: ua-cam.com/video/TKkMlu6bzI8/v-deo.html
Hi I like the way you resolved so many of my queries in just one video. Just one question though. Is there any use of adding vermicompost/organic fertilizer when transplanting the seedling to bigger pots? I mean since we're going to to be adding other fertilizers suck as NPK, Sea weed extract or Fish emulsion, is there any major/minor role that vermicompost will play?
Something that is extremely important! If you are starting seedling indoors before transplanting gradually introduce plant to sunlight over a week before transplanting in full Sun.
Hello and thanks for sharing, I have couple questions. 1- I used my starting mix from last year which consists of vermiculite and coco coir only. Am I in trouble? I used a 72 cell tray. 2nd-How long can I keep them in the cells after they germinate. I ran into issues last year with leggy plants with weak stems
I’d like to see a video with Plants comparing ones watered with plain green water and other ones watered with warm tea and see if it actually makes a difference
Thanks for the information! I started my seeds in central florida during Dec last week. The seeds sprouted but the growth seems stagnant, no new leaves are coming except the first two leaves. Could you please suggest what may be worng?
In general leggy seedlings can be repotted. Tomatoes are easy as they can be planted deeper. Most others will do OK after they grow a little more under bright sunlight. Re seeding will give you better plants though
I tried to sow pumpkin (also watermelon), but they never grew big leaves like i see in the videos. They're always small, even if i have light for them. What should i do? (I got them from store fruit btw maybe thats a problem)
I enjoyed your UA-cam videos. Where can I buy tendli (tendoi or ivy Gourd or pointed gourd, tiny melon like) vegetable seeds? I bought other Indian seeds from SeedsofIndia website.

Great video, well structured and very informative. Thanks for sharing👍🏾
Glad it was helpful!
Loved it! Thanks for sharing!
Good presentation!
How many times do you put fertilizer for seedlings and how long do you leave the fertilizer on? I'm using quick start thanks you
Fertilize at half strength once a week. So watering twice a week, every other watering should be a weak fertilizer application

Hello, thank you for the growing advice for seedlings. But when will you reveal the results for the Mars Hydro Grow Lights
Thank you! Mars Hydro Giveaway winner will be announced in the January monthly episode!
Thanks for letting me know.I have another question, when you grow crops do you sell them and can you tell me what process you take to sell them.
Great video for beginner gardeners, may I please know an alternate to Gypsum? Can I use epsom salt instead? Please reply, thank you
You can use garden lime or dolomitic lime instead of gypsum
Great info. Thank you
Nice channel
I use coco peat for starting my seedlings too !
I am in Ontario Canada and started gardening last year in pots/planters
My question: can I use my last year soil? I used pro mix vegetables soil mix
Is it possible to grow seeds out door in the sun in a covered tray. I don’t have a heat mat or grow light.
Great explanations, as always sir. Thx
Do you have garden visit programmes ? Need to visit if possible.
Thanks. No visit programs yet, but will look into it.
@@CaliforniaGardening thank you very for prompt n positive response. I m in India. Much interested in CG.
When u live in the same city makes information taking a lot easier!
I was waiting for this video. Thanks
Thank you so much 🙏🏻 💕

Thanks for the tutorial..🌱. your suggestions are very helpful.. best wishes from India, uttarakhand..🏔️
Thanks for the awesome video...generally when do we up pot the seedlings?
Anytime after the first set of leaves have developed and they are big enough to be transplanted. Usually after 2 weeks of germinating you can up pot
@@CaliforniaGardening thank u so much for your reply 🙏🙏🙏
Once plants are in their permanent home, how often should i fertilize throughout the growing season?
How is Tesla doing? Will you show us more videos of him at the end of your videos? Maybe he could show us how to dig holes for direct sowing?😉
Helpful video!

Do you sell tindora cutting?
Can we use egg shell powder instead of gypsum?
Does Leggy seedlings if I depot would they survive??
No they wont
So do I need to reseed them again??
In general leggy seedlings can be repotted. Tomatoes are easy as they can be planted deeper. Most others will do OK after they grow a little more under bright sunlight. Re seeding will give you better plants though
Once I fill the seed starting mix in the pot ,after adding the seed do I need to water everyday?
This is great!!! New Subbie 😊
I tried to sow pumpkin (also watermelon), but they never grew big leaves like i see in the videos. They're always small, even if i have light for them. What should i do? (I got them from store fruit btw maybe thats a problem)
If you follow instructions on fertilizing the seedlings you should get better plants.
Where can I find those potato seeds?
What will you suggest
Cocopeat or peatmoss?
Whatever is available and cheaper. Coco coir is better than peat moss though
I enjoyed your UA-cam videos. Where can I buy tendli (tendoi or ivy Gourd or pointed gourd, tiny melon like) vegetable seeds? I bought other Indian seeds from SeedsofIndia website.
Will the water in the base tray will remain or we have to fill it again and again
The soil will absorb the water from the drainage holes. You will have to fill it again once the soil is somewhat dry.
can we add egg shells instead of gypsum
That’s what I did and so far so good! Just be sure to grind the eggshells well.
What's the alternative / substitute for 'Worm Tea'. I'm in India, doubtful on it's availability.
You can make compost tea at home: ua-cam.com/video/bcQD0m9WfQE/v-deo.html
@@CaliforniaGardening Thank you
