    Yeah I've broke two of those tools trying to get my wiper arms off.

  • @dplorbl

    Couple points:
    A spritz of WD40 helps break it loose. Wipe the post with WD40 (and brush) before reattaching; some grease on the post will prevent that caked debris.

    • @screwsnutsandbolts

      Sometimes they just get seized onto the splines. Do you spray some penetrating fluid onto them and let it work for a while ?

    • @SentiMoodi
      @SentiMoodi 3 місяці тому

      @@screwsnutsandbolts Yeah I bought some PB Blaster and I sprayed it on top where the thread hex nut is. I even took off my cowl to get a better grip (replacing a broken windshield anyway). Won’t move an inch. Should I get another spray or spray it somewhere else?

      @@SentiMoodi If you can get one, try one of the tools in this video. It's a lot stronger that the others and it won't flex like the others: ua-cam.com/video/ZbvqnhrPNho/v-deo.html

    Sure, it does work and it’s the right tool for the job, but if your stuck, two spanner’s under the wiper arm, replace the nut, apply gentle downwards force to the spanner’s, which in turn, applies pressure in an upwards movement to the wiper arm and gently tap with a hammer, works every time 👍👀😀

    The tommy bar is too flimsy, at least on mine. Can be got from Aliexpress for a few pounds. Ebay UK, £10 - 11. A major carparts outfit in UK advertising same item for £31.99 and that's after their supposed 45% discount . . . at time of this posting.
    The item's OK but it's not 'heavy duty' as some ads suggest There again 'heavy duty' is a relatively meaningless term.
    Worth buying but dont expect it to pull off a really seized wiper arm.

    • @philgee7249
      @philgee7249 2 роки тому

      Update. To get the tool used in video to fit squarely and safely on a NS Octavia mk2 arm, mark the park positions of arms with tape as per video. Stop the wipers during a wash-wipe by way of the key to leave them stationary at about 45°. This will give enough clearance at the fixed end to get the puller on.

      For whatever reason, rear arms seem to be stuck on more than regular front arms..but is possible with one if these pullers. May have to use channel locks and a long screw driver in addition to get enough leverage, but it'll come off.
