About Psycho-Pass (2012) (Source Wikipedia):
PSYCHO-PASS is a Japanese cyberpunk psychological thriller anime television series produced by Production I.G The series is set in a futuristic Japan governed by the Sibyl System (シビュラシステム, Shibyura Shisutemu), a powerful bio-mechanical computer network which endlessly measures the biometrics of Japanese citizens' brains and mentalities using a "cymatic scan." The resulting assessment is called a Psycho-Pass (サイコパス, Saikopasu), which includes a numeric Crime Coefficient (犯罪係数, Hanzaikeisū) index, revealing the citizen's criminality potential, and a color-coded Hue, alerting law enforcement to other data, as well as the improvement (clearing) or decline (clouding) of said Psycho-Pass
Season 1 centers around the "enforcement officer" Shinya Kogami, who is tasked with managing crime in such a world. With Akane Tsunemori, they end up in a search for the criminally asymptomatic, Shogo Makishima
About the Anime Characters: (source Psycho-Pass wikia):
Shinya Kogami (狡噛 慎也 Kougami Shinya) is a Tactical Advisor within the Suppressing Action Department of the Foreign Affairs Operations Department. Prior to this, he roams southeast Asia serving as a mercenary in foreign countries, like Shambala Float, helping oppressed populations gain autonomy. Prior to his soujourn, he is an Inspector within Division 01 of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Public Safety Bureau until the Specimen Case, then as an Enforcer before his illegal actions against Shogo Makishima and his escape from the PSB force him into exile. He is the main protagonist in the first season of Psycho-Pass.
Shogo Makishima (槙島 聖護 Makishima Shougo) is a criminally asymptomatic individual whose stated goal is to liberate Japanese society from the Sibyl System, as he believes that it is turning its citizens into non-thinking automatons instead of independent thinking human beings.
Shogo is the main antagonist in the first season of Psycho-Pass.

In explanation of Kogami's lack of skill in this fight, while he is constantly training, he is training in a society plagued by peace. He doesn't have a competent sparing partner to practice with or a masterful teacher to learn from. Further into the series, he comments on this himself after traveling out into the world and encountering the hardships outside Sibil's reach.
Great point about Kogami and the universe he is trapped in!
I wonder what kind of society Logan Lo lives in
another explanation is, he is revengeful to Makishima, revenge blinded his judgement and make lapse on his choice, lunging in to Makishima three times, maybe giving a good view on how badly Kogami wanted to kill Makishima IMO, we know he can fight using his brain when he's not fighting Makishima
@@lokihimura8382 it's the movie, where Tsunemori chases down Kogami in another country.
This is actually incorrect. Kogami has great skill. He has multiple dangerous encounters as an enforcer and he spars other enforcers, including Sasayama who was a master of Jeet Kune Do and Silat and completely bodied Kogami. That helped him to improve.
“are they gonna kiss”
“i’d say the left nipple”
imma rewatch the entire show now that you guys pointed out a new way to enjoy it
Anything to get people to watch (or re-watch) Psycho-Pass. It's a fantastic anime!
lol Glad you to hear you can enjoy our humor.
My explanation for why Makishima uses a straight razor is precisely because he knows it's an insane choice for hand-to-hand combat. It adds to the danger, which makes him feel more alive.
I think it is also a reflection on, in a society controlled and regulated, something used as a tool like a razor can also be manipulated into a weapon.
I think it's always nice to see you guys break down how authentic the fighting can be in anime.
yes
Why the heck I see you everywhere??
Nice ur here too
Wtf ??
How much UA-cam do you watch to literally be EVERYWHERE?
Makishma is just so confident that he pulled a shaving blade. He was a little more skilled than Kogami at the time. It was also his downfall
I m just happy that people still remember that Psycho Pass exist. Atleast the first season
Logan is smiling 😍 He can finally show-off those butterfly knife skills. 😂 Can't wait for Logan to get back at Chad 😈
Yes sir
He deserves this opportunity after taking the flying triangle thing from imai vs Dudley
As a note for Kogami's weapon deployment. It is shown that he deployed it beforehand before he entered the building. I remember it because I thought how insane it was running around with open knife in his pockets.
Imagine an anime being so symbolic that they even symbolized the knives.
everything down to choosing what material to quote. in the scene where Makishima gets rid of Oryo he quotes a scene from Shakespeare. the play he quotes from is "Titus Adronicus" (which is also earlier brought up as Oryo's favorite play) the thing is, "Titus Adronicus" heavily fell out of favor with the public because it was viewed as violence without true meaning, which is arguably why Makishima was getting bored of Oryo and decided to get rid of her in the first place.
I like how there's a new aspect to the fight being told to the audience now - the weapon choice representing the characters.
It's a nice little detail from the writers to have weapon choices that possibly symbolizes these character's personality.
Really appreciate the attention to both the actual realism and the narrative impact of these scenes. Of course it's not realistic, and it's interesting as hell to hear about why. But it's really interesting to think of what they think about the choices that are made in an inherently unrealistic medium.
Happy to hear you find our breakdown interesting! We also did other anime breakdowns like Attack on Titan for you to enjoy: ua-cam.com/video/p_Gg5vgamxI/v-deo.html let us know which other fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next!
Some notes about deploying folding blades:
1) Many larger folding blades (4 Inches, or 10cm and bigger) can be swung open with one hand by using the momentum alone. However, you do not want a blade that flaps open and shut in your pocket. Thus, many of the better quality knives have a notch and a pin that give it some initial resistance so that it is held shut in the closed-form. However, some knives can still open up, if you drop them on the floor. In order to deploy it with one hand, you need to open the blade a little. This can be done by pressing against a flipper, or an opening pin. These are usually designed such that you can open the blade completely in a fully controlled fashion, but it's still awkward with one hand. Thus, opening it a little and then flick it open is for many the preferred way.
2) some knives have a small protrusion on the blade's spine so that the blade deploys itself fully when you pull it out of your pocket. For this to happen, you need to put it inside your pocket so that it hangs from the clip, which is, in turn, hanging out of the pocket and thus the only visible part. When you pinch the knife (hopefully without the bordering textile...) you can pull it out and there's a good chance that the protrusion gets entangled with the seam. With practice, you can make it also reliable. With some knives, such as the Spyderco-style knives which have a hole, you can use a zip tie to recreate this protrusion.
3) most pockets are not meant for carrying knives. They are either too tight making the retrieval slow and awkward, or the textile gets entangled with the knife and you struggle pulling it out because of it. The latter can be especially mean as you might have tried it 10 times and it always came out in 2s and then on the 11th time it takes you 10s! This delay can make the difference between life and death!
It is in general better if you can put your entire fist in the pocket and grasp the knife firmly. That way it can be deployed the quickest and most reliable, as long as the fist doesn't get stuck...
Also, you can ruin many pockets through the hard parts of the knife rubbing against the textile during your walk. Eventually, you end up walking and suddenly your knife falls out and probably slides across the floor because of the momentum imparted by your leg...
Source: personal experience. I grew up in gun-free Europe, or in other words, I have been threatened a dozen times over with melee weapons...
Fantastic comment about knives! Thanks for the personal insight.
Good insight im trying learn more about weapons
The equalizer,taken fight scenes
@@ScenicFights the equalizer, taken movie fight scenes
Yes. I deploy a Buck 110 all the time with a wrist flick. With a well used knife, it is quite straightforward.
The reason why Kougami went for 3 straight thrusts is that he absolutely WANTED to kill Makishima... He was consumed with revenge at this point in the anime...
Overall, Psycho-Pass is a good anime but when it comes down to this particular fight scene, we can see limitations and the poor choices of weapons ( I mean those are good weapons, but they don't seem to fit the modern combat because of the TWO-HANDED deployment and limitations ).
Still, it's fun to watch and it's even better when we get to see the "MINCE-MEAT" king gives his BRUTAL but TRUE criticisms. Keep up with the good contents
Mad love to your crew and you guys
- James -
Agreed. The anime sadly wasn’t meant for action even though the anime had a lot of it
@@Yepitsmedude you are right it's more of a psychological anime
Hmm if I remember correctly they weren't allowed to have any other weapons right. The gun only works with the permission from the officer assigned to them. And it can't shoot people like Shogo
@@Shivanshikol yeah. Kinda like how Erased is but erased did it a lot better in my opinion
@@adithyadanaj9768 You are correct, they are basically forced to use batons in those situations.
I’m not sure if it’s been stated already, but there is an automatic version of the Buck 110. Something to consider in the deployment speed.
There is! We should have mentioned it in the video, but it doesn't look like Kogami's version (in terms of design) was an auto. However, that's us being overly picky. It could have certainly been the intentions of the writers to have it be an auto.
@@ScenicFights I'm surprised nobody who has watched the series has called this out (or maybe I missed it), but in an earlier scene when Kogami is preparing to chase Makishima, you see him check his gun for bullets, as well as actually deploy his knife then put it away, which would explain how he can already pull out a fully deployed knife. Now that I've watched this video though I appreciate that attention to detail the creators had!
"Don't kill me, I'm one of you"
Awww Logan, we have to purge our own ranks every now and then, _dissention must be quelled._ :)
dont leave behind any evidence
About Makishima's weird taste for knives, I used to see it as a way to represent how hard it can be to get a hold on a weapon in that society, but he's Makishima, he shouldn't have troubles finding something better, so I'm guessing it's all just for the artistic vibes. Or a failed flex attempt...
It's up for interpretation. A razor can maybe symbolize someone who is just an outcast or a rebel.
It looks like a very ornate weapon with all the engraving on it so I think he just chose it because he likes the appearance. He uses it in the show for murder against unarmed targets more often than he uses it to actually fight. He's more of a killer than he is a fighter.
It actually kind of surprised me and I thought it was maybe a flaw in the show that he was so good at fighting despite never being shown to have any sort of training.
@@paulogarcia1766 unfortunately we dont know a lot from makishimas past.
@@paulogarcia1766 in one of the audio dramas it's revealed that Che gu sung teached him the material art.
Note also the psychological aspect when facing such a weapon.
Having someone in front of you who takes out their razor blade and unfolds it calmly can completely destabilize or even paralyze with fear.
For Makashima, it can be advantageous as well. I recall a scene with a genetic researcher who didn't even defend themselves.
Randomly got this video recommended, and I couldn't have asked for something better. Psycho Pass and Knives? Literally made my day! ❤
We're so happy to read this comment! Welcome to our channel! Make sure to subscribe and let us know if there are any other anime fights scenes you'd like to see us breakdown next!
@@ScenicFights So happy to see that you guys replied! Definitely subscribed, and yes, I would love to see more content for anime like Akame Ga Kill, Darker then Black and K-Project etc. Keep up the good work guys! ✨
Thanks for reacting to this one. I already expected Logan to really go down on this fight scene, but it's really a shame that anime doesn't have a lot of realistic knife or kali fights. There is more weapon work in later Psycho-Pass movie fights, but they're disarmed so quickly that I felt it wasn't worth suggesting, like Kogami vs the SeaUN agents or Kogami vs Garcia.
The only other knife scene that's worth breaking down and is longer and more realistic is Nagisa vs Karma in Assassination Classroom. I hope Logan has more to say about that one.
I love Psycho-Pass but nothing is going to attack me you both just because you rated a fight a D. I mean that video is a critical observation and analysis on one scene, the points you make in this video are valid. So really great video you two. You have my subscribe.
Thank you so much for the subscription and awesome comment! We try to be as honest as possible in our breakdown and so I'm glad you understand our critique. Feel free to let us know which other anime, movie or video game fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next!
Chad said "left nipple" way too fast, someone's been some doujins. Of course the breakdown was nothing short of perfect, but it's great to see that the humor is top tier as well. That "psycho pass" pun ??? Joke ??? Was just *chefs kiss*
Oh hey have you guys seen Sword of the Stranger ??? I think Logan's gonna enjoy breaking down that one if you ever do.
What else can I say aside from see you guys in the next one, cheers !!!
Thank you as always for the awesome comment and yes we have seen the awesome Sword of the Stranger :) Maybe a breakdown some day from it!?
It's time for Logan to shine, to make mincemeat out of Chad, to "Kani basami" bare-handed Chad
LET'S GO
7:45 you’re going to give it as pass.
A Psycho-pass
(Throws hands in air and roll eyes)
ROFL , this is so funny!
I think I read somewhere that Makishima used a razor because in one of his favorite books - 1984 - razor blades were a good and therefore the razor had some symbolic value as in "you are free from this bad aspect of the system" or something.
This is actually a fantastic point and I think you are entirely correct. In George Orwell's "1984", the razor blades symbolize free will and this is exactly what Makishma wants with the destruction of the Sibyl System.
@@ScenicFights That makes sense. Thanks for that!
Firstly, nice breakdown guys.
And with the deployment of the Buck 110, folding knife, the gangsters and criminals here in South Africa usually using an Okapi knife, open the knife a little bit and let the tip of the blade bite onto the inside of his pocket, when he pulls it out it opens up. Seen it a bunch of times, and was shown by one of my friends who was a gangster too.
I will say, in defense of the Buck 110, you can actually carry it as a fixed blade. There are plenty of companies that make sheaths for them. And it could explain the quick deployment of the weapon.
This is the answer. Pretty sure that in the scene where he is preparing he opens it and puts it in a fixed holder behind his back.
FINALLY SOME PSYCHO PASS ON YT. THIS ANIME IS AWESOME!
Oooh so excited! The fight choreography in Psycho Pass is eye candy
In 2017 Buck released an 110 auto - Don't know when the episode was drawn, so I can't say if they match up but just a small knife faqs from someone who enjoys knives. And just wanted to say I appreciate how non-condescending [truthfully, not being sarcastic] you guys are in all your videos, it makes for a very pleasant viewing experience.
This series came out in 2012 but the anime does take place in the future so the animator could have easily predicted an auto Buck 110. With that being said, thanks for the awesome comment! We have a lot more knife breakdowns coming for you.
holy shit, i cant wait. i hope the martial arts portions are talked about a bit as well (if applicable)
edit: i was really hoping the fight would be based on their first meeting + midseason 1 hand to hand fight, but it was super interesting to see how this fight appears to look far more entertaining to a viewer over its practicality in a real situation. very cool!
I love the assessment. I also love how they give simple suggestions on how they could of done things differently to improve the scene. Love your break downs guys look forward to the next one.
Logan whenever chad says let's break that down: He is gonna break my arm one day I know it!
Saw Psycho Pass again, the extended version this time and there is a scene where Kougami after crossing the gates of this abandoned factory takes out and opens his knife before keeping it back in his jacket, ig that explains his how he was instantly able to deploy the weapon.
Nice catch!
Can't wait for them to break down those Makishima movess🔥🔥🔥
Fire moves
The reason of kogami fast deployment of the knife is found before the fight, in the previous episode kogami deploys the knife beforehand probably knowing that he will fight with it, the accuracy of this anime even in this small details is stunning, amazing video btw.
My two favorite things Psycho Pass and fight scene breakdowns
Wow, I never noticed how novice at fighting Kogami was at this point. I always thought he was a beast like he was later on the series
You should react to other fights in the series, especially those in the movie and in Psycho-pass 3
Can’t wait for this one! One of my favorite shows
Thank you for making this I really appreciated that you guys come and talk that scene you make a very clear every single shot about the knife's names or about everything in this clip! I just know the reason why Kogami and Makishima use that knifes I really thankful.
Its here les go just gotta wait 10 hours
I'm glad Logan Lo is getting some well deserved screen time, so he can show off his skills and knowledge
psychopass is one of my most favorite anime ever. love that shit, plus the soundtrack SLAPS
great vid, guys!
You have great taste in animes. Psycho-Pass is a masterpiece!
I think it's interesting that the grade reflects what the fighter's skill is supposed to be in the context of the story, and whether they act in a manner appropriate to that. It's a nuanced factor that adds to why I love these breakdowns. I know it's a bit outside your usual range, (both fighters in full body protection) but would you ever consider a breakdown of the duel between Hal and Hotspur in the 2019 netflix film "The King"?
Nice..... Love to learn about all types of knifes & swords. Great episode
Happy to hear that you enjoyed it because there are more to come. Make sure to subscribe and let us know which fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next!
In most knife fights its basically dynamic leverage and element of debilitating wounds and the threshold of the individual
I am so glad at the grade you gave it
I was worried you were going to have appease fans with a high score in a pretty basic fight
Your integrity is to be admired
When we get back to realistic fights I'd love to see a breakdown of "grosse point blank" right at the locker
Either way keep being awesome guys
Psycho-Pass is legit an amazing anime, but when it comes to grading fight scenes, we try to be as honest as possible. Thanks for the support and Grosse Point Blank is a fantastic film.
People have been fighting with straight razors for a very long time. The two ways I've seen have been
1) to hold the part of the blade behind the sharp part between thumb and forefinger with the handle in the rest of the hand
2) fold the blade back over the fingers between the second and closest and middle knuckles keeping the blade in place against the backs of the fingers by pushing the part of the blade behind the pivot
These two ways allow more flexibility in use, not just #1, #2 but up and down, horizontal, and in the case of the first grip flicking cuts.
Also, when Razor-Guy has Buck-Guy on the floor he could have avoided the knife and just cut across the inside of the elbow doing bad things to tendons, muscles and blood vessels. So on. So forth. The problem with breaking these fights down is that they're not two people fighting. They're an animator deciding what will look cool and work with the (unrealistic) conventions of the genre.
FYI…There are at least five different grips for the straight razor. It is the preferred tool for some martial arts. The tool is very effective if you know how to use it.
Also, check out Silat Suffian Bela Diri - Straight Razor Blade: Quick Draws & various Grips.
Are there razors that lock as well?
fanTASTIC pick. Forgot how wonderful this anime was
I've never personally handled a Buck 110, but it's pretty simple to one-handed open most folding knives with a bit of practice, and I've seen a few videos folks using a couple of techniques to open the Buck 110 specifically.
I think the reason kogami repeated his straightforward lunging attack was strictly because of how emotionally overwhelming that attack was, they are in every meaning of the word, rivals. Kogami finally got a chance to fight him one on one and was so excited to hurt him he repeated an attack of brute force and not any intelligence, yet was still superior in fighting style to makishima.
This is already the 3rd time I'm watching this so informative & entertaining
I've seen it dozen of times and it's always entertaining. (but most times I'm watching for production mistakes lol). Feel free to share it with your friends and get them to subscribe to the channel for more!
I loved ittttt😍
You guys killed it
I absolutely loved season 1 of Psycho Pass!! You guys should definitely break down the Kogami fights in the Psycho Pass movies as well (there are two of note that you guys should totally check out).
On another note, please breakdown the fight between Iko Uwais and Joe Taslim in The Night Comes For Us. I’m going to keep asking hahaha
The Psycho-Pass movie so great!
The Night Comes For Us. We are aware of that film lol.
We ranked it number 1 in our Best Iko Uwais fight scenes video and of course we did Joe Taslim's Mortal Kombat breakdown.
One of my fav anime if not the most. Love that you guys covered it
It's one of our favorite animes too! That's why we decided to cover it as well. Feel free to let us know which other fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next!
This is so soooo cool, talking about the knives and recreating stuff- this is awesome
Really glad you enjoyed our anime breakdown! Make sure to subscribe and let us know which other fight scene we should breakdown next!
@@ScenicFights Well made and rejuvinated my nostalgic love of this show. Something not as mainstream, I would recommend "Honkai Lament of the Fallen", but mostly just the first half cause it gets a little magical. Some RWBY fights are good too, Yang vs The Twins from the Yellow Trailer and Yang vs Neo, though there are some fancy weapons involved. RWBY might be more for a film person to analyze, but even if some choreo isnt realistic for an analysis you should check it out for amusement sake.
Kogami already had the Buck knife deployed on his back pocket. That's how he pulled it out fast to be ready for Makishima.
Thank you for the video! Psycho-Pass is still my favorite anime and Makishima is in my top 3 favorite characters!
You have great taste in anime! Psycho-Pass and Makishima are also part of our top favorite anime and characters.
Dude, you definitely need to do a q&a sometime soon. That would be sick
Recently finished the show for the 1st time. Earlier in the show Kogami left the knife open and attached to his belt in the rear (not sure how since it doesn't seem to have a sheath or carry clip). That's how he was able to deploy it so quickly in the fight, it was already open.
Love all these vids man. You guys really do deserve a million subscribers
One day! And once we get there, we will do the craziest stunts lol.
its gonna be fantastic
Yeah
i love these boiz. my favorite reaction/ breakdown channel on the entire site
Appreciate the comment! It means a lot to us. Let us know if there are any other fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next.
Hey guys love to see y’all posting again been looking forward to it 🤓. Hope y’all are well. Much love an good vibes to every one who sees this post ☮️🕊✌️
@scenic fights, i love this, not an anime i have seen but the breakdown of the fight and weapons are excellent. Some though really does need to be given to how attacks and weapons work. When i am writing i like to get hold o the objects im using to run through how they will work
I remember the first rule of a knife fight is...don't ever get into a knife fight
Yes you guys posted! My faith in humanity has been restored.
And we plan to keep on posting! In case you missed it, we also did a Mortal Kombat fight scene breakdown: ua-cam.com/video/IbmUktTI2BE/v-deo.html
I was randomly saying kogami vs makishima on community post 2 months ago and realize after that "isn't the scene too short?"
But it turns out to be amazing explanation!
Edit: it's really as short as i thought, but deliver critical and right to the point
It's really nice to hear an expert review because oftenly anime just looks cool and that's all, people forget to recall if it's a sensible, valid fight or not just like what i thought before watching this
Hope to see more breakdown from anime/animation now onwards!
I don't know if this has been suggested but I would like to see the end of The Last of the Mohicans. The scene between Magua and Uncas as well as the fight between Chingachgook and Magua. Love the videos guys.
Hey scenic fights I love the videos guys thank you
I always love these informative videos because I come out with some new information lol. The whole knife in fight situation definitely reminded of another fight where they actually used mma and knife works, Nagisa vs Karma
Agreed that was one of the best fights in Assassination Classroom especially when we got to see Nagisa's Python State used to it's max potential. Basically for those who aren't familiar with Assassination Classroom "Spoiler Alert" Nagisa has the ability to hide his killer intent and not reveal it until it is to late, and when Nagisa first demonstrated this skill his killer intent was described as being very similar to a vicious python ready to kill and devour it's prey without any remorse.
Loved it as always guys! I think it would be cool to incorporate one of those dummies with fake blood in them, and when Logan does a knife fight breakdown, he can slash the dummy, and we could see both damage and if there is practicality to the weapon.
It's something we want to do. We did a test run in our Raid 2 breakdown when we hammered the meat: ua-cam.com/video/NrUdGNEgBe8/v-deo.html
Thank you for making me appreciate this anime even more! Your explanations are really really clear, and the D you gave was valid.
You're very welcome! Hope you subscribe and let us know which anime fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next!
I was waiting for this one.
Ah the nostalgia ~~ 😭😭❤❤
There really are better fight in the other seasons and movies, especially the hand to hand ones. This one was more theatrical than it as technical.
Not only highlights how the usual pragmatic Kogami is blinded by rage and how Makishima is a wild card that doesn’t play by rules.
S1 had plenty of great fights, this just wasn't one of them.
4:33 “are they gonna kiss?” LMAOOOSKSKSJD
now the movie knife scene.
That one was great.
something about kogamis deploy time of his knife: he deployed it before he even entered this building, so it probably happened in the episode before the showdown
You are correct!
Absolutely love love love this! Hope you do more anime fights!
Of course! We already did animes like Attack on Titan and Megalo Box. Are there any other fight scenes you'd like to see us breakdown next?
This gonna be a good one🧡🔥
I came running for Psycho-Pass
Would love to see you guys review some FMA brotherhood fights! But regardless of what you two decide to review, looking forward to what's coming next!
Do some breakdowns of fights in Cowboy Bebop
Yes especially the hand-2-hand fights Spike gets into as Spike's fighting style is confirmed in canon to be Jeet-Kun-Do and it shows as Spike pretty much uses whatever moves he can to win a fight but has still that base in Wing Chun along with adapting to the fight as it progresses.
And Bruce Lee in that iconic interview stated that is literally what he did when created the iconic martial art style that he kept the Wing Chun base but added in moves from various fighting styles that would compliment the Wing Chun while also adding in this concept of adapting to the fight as it progresses and this led to the famed quote where used water as the example "Be like water water is formless, and shapeless it is able to flow and adapt to it's surroundings you pour water into a bottle it adapts to the bottle, it becomes the bottle you pour water into a cup it adapts to the cup, it becomes the cup so be like water."
I recommend doing a fight breakdown of the Chris final fight from the animated film Resident Evil Vendetta. its visually amazing and looks to be well choreographed.
Common injury amongst people using a knife for self defense or offense- sliced up hands. You notice that on the buck 110 the only thing that keeps your hand from sliding onto the blade is the grip strength of the hand and how dry your hands are. In a fight, where hands will be getting sweaty or bloody (from your own or your opponent's wounds), you will often find many novice knife fighters with wounds from their own knives in their palms. This is aggravated by the fact that in attacking an opponent, it is not super rare for someone to hit bone and the knife to either slip, or be dislodged during combat. In fact, often when people are looking for knife using assailants one of the things they look for is knife wounds on their inner hands. There are better knives that can handle some of these issues, but as was already mentioned, the fight, and the blades were style over substance- the lone wolf stubbornly holding onto a sent and an attack pattern even if it destroys him, and the killer that is too wrapped up in his own little world to take precautions that his intellect would otherwise demand.
We have a weapon here in Southern Africa called an 'Okapi' similar to the Buck 110 and apparently some guys know how to file it so that it can be deployed by just flicking it open. Apparently.
Also I never did get why so many movies have people fight with straight back razors.
When i saw the title i instantly subscribed
Much appreciated! Thank you so much for the support. Are there any other fight scene you'd like to see us breakdown next?
they covered my favorite anime of all time!
You have great taste in anime. Psycho-Pass is AWESOME!
Loool great analysis
I feel like you guys would have a fun time watching and breaking down the scenes in Shadow(2018).
Thank you for this video, I guess that most of Psycho-pass fans know that fights in PP Universe are not the most realistic at all.
What could be interesting is commentary of fight between Kougami and Tsunemori in Psycho-pass movie (2016). I believe that trained tiny woman can defenses herself against great fighter as Kougami. But I'm not sure if the grips she used would rather not put him in a better position (thanks to his weight and height, which he could use as an advantage)
Let me tell you, I'm not even halfway through the video and I'm subbing.
We really appreciate it! Each subscriber helps us make more videos. Let us know if there are any other fight scenes you'd like to see us breakdown next!
@@ScenicFights ❤️ Ajin: Demi-Human has some moments! Largely supernatural but the character Sato is meant to be a highly skilled ex-soldier and has a few hand-to-hand sequences that I love. But no matter what you guys review, I'm here for it!
Kogami and Makishima one of the best opposition in anime and thanks for the break down a nice video keep up the great content guys
I agree. Their rivalry is one of the best in all of anime. Fantastic writing.
Good job guys👍
Coming back to this video from the future. I may not be a fighting expert like these two, but I do know my pocket knives! Buck does make a 110 auto. its an out the side auto and doesn't suck!
It does have an auto! Psycho-Pass Season 1 came out before the auto, but the anime takes place in the future so maybe he did have one!
1:28 I think in a prep scene earlier in the show it showed him having put the knife away open in his pocket
You are correct!
7:46 He enjoyed that, and so did I
Please do a Vivy. It's a 2021 anime which is praised for fast paced fighting scene rather than just aesthetic fight
