I haven't 1989 Lincoln LSA I heard the pressure blowout on the accumulator cuz I looked at your video I'm wondering does that mean the accumulator blew a hole in it could you tell me cuz I Heard it go can you text me the company that you got your accumulator from or send me a voice message because I have a hard time reading my car only has 260 miles on it it was my uncle's I would like to make sure the car is up to snuff but when I did go into it the car did blow the accumulator 100%, it had a lot of air come out of it that's my personal opinion have to watching your video thank you for sending me if you send me the company's name that you got your accumulator from hope to hear from you soon very good video hopefully that will be my problem and I can enjoy my uncle's LSC he passed on have a good evening bye
I've been working on a 1987 Continental. Knowing what the Brake light is for and the additional components is very helpful. I can't wait to take get back to the car so I can better troubleshoot the issue! I was also contemplating just finding a vacuum booster to retro-fit if I can't get the right parts to repair the original system.
These Teves systems, when properly working, are really nice. In general though they are a PITA. The parts are obsolete, and trying to find a functioning one in the junkyard is not so easy anymore. Removing the booster itself is also quite difficult, especially removing the three brake lines going into the ABS at the master cylinder 0:49 is really hard to do. The nuts easily strip and then good luck taking them off after that. Having removed several of these now, it's easier to unbolt the ABS block from the master cylinder 1:28 than it is to remove the brake lines. You'll save yourself a headache. Almost all of my troubles with these systems have been due to the accumulator. Unfortunately, I cannot find a new and suitable alternate accumulator. People used to buy GM accumulators from a similar system from Cadillac but those have been discontinued as well. I've seen some for machinery and other vehicles like Mercedes Jaguar BMW and Maybach, but cannot be certain they fit or are to spec.
I suggest getting in touch with SPEED Manufacturing and purchase a Hydroboost retrofit kit for your Mark 7... (they also offer a cheaper vacuum booster kit) Lose the ABS, but also all of the problems intrinsic to a worn out Teves II integrated electric brake system... I babied mine along for almost a year and finally tore it out of there.. accumulator was dead, fluid leaking out near reservoir and poor electrical connection at the pressure switch. The conversion job is easy AND you end up with a ton of space around the left side of the engine AND the unit is very powerful.. a perfect companion upgrade to larger rotors and calipers. Only other downside aside from losing ABS was significant power steering pump noise emanating through cabin... I ordered steel lines and did not isolate them from the body at all areas.. some strategic foam/ insulation application will likely cut that down. Matt Sweeting has the goods.. I ordered a used Hydroboost and he shipped me a brand new unit instead! A courtesy for delayed shipment.. treat your super coupe right people ;) Consider a power steering cooler if driving hard in hot climates.. as Matt explained to me, these Hydroboost units are fairly bullet proof. They usually only need a reseal in the distant future due to leakage.. a cooler can only help keep those rubber seals alive!
that was great this really help me with my neighbors 1988 mark vii ... narrow down with the brake light illumination when pressing the brake ....i changed the front calipers and brake hose , pedal only got better for one day then back hard again and a brake light that stays on ..... where is the best place for me to order the accumluator
I got a 1992 Lincoln Mark 7 Bliss Blass and I am having a problem where the pedal is hard as a rock. It is an electric brake booster and we tried replacing the relays and still wouldn’t go. Where can I get the other parts for this?
Hey man, my 7 has had a brake issue, and I can't figure it out. About a week ago my passenger front caliper locked up and destroyed a pad on that side. I replaced the pads, the caliper, and properly bled the brakes prior to reassembly. Well, today it started acting up again, but now when I go to stop, there is a little pressure, but all of a sudden, my foot will hit the floor and the pedal is extremely mushy. I don't get it. Re-bled the system, and still going on. Any ideas brother?
hey man. on my 89 I changed the rear line from the master back.. I have gravity bled them at the front and rear... good fluid out the back... but won't kick bleed out the rear.. and I have a brake light on and a Hard pedal and very bad stopping ability. any ideas how to get the "air lock"out? thanks Matt
Can you please tell me where does the short vacuum hose on the air bag pump on a 1990 Lincoln Mark Vll goes to connect to the main air line to air pump? I’m changing my old pump & it was removed, before I had the chance to see where that vacuum hose connects too. Thank You 🙏🏽
This was a very helpful video. I now am almost positive that I need an accumulator. I Googled Hydac, and Prior Reman, and hit a dead end. I just want to order this part for my 86 LSC. Can you help me out with a Hydac part number, or even a link to this part? I understand ACDelco also made this part at some point but no longer does. Thanks.
Just a heads up.. I went through this 5 years ago and the game was up already. Couldn't find a single solution to repair my Teves II system so had to retrofit.
I have lincoln mark vii 92 and i have problems for brake when I press the brake it's really hard i wonder if the brakes booster is problem or something else i just wondered pls
can you tell me where the relays is located that attaches to the battery with a fuse link,,,,and also where the fuse link is located......I have an 1986 Lincoln Mark 7 and i my breaks are as hard as concrete as if the entire system is not working......i replaced the entire unit and i still have the same issue. Im wondering if maybe im not getting any power to the unit that can be cause by the relay and fusible link to the battery that you mentioned in your video. Both ABS & Break Lights are on.
As far as the Teves II electric brake system, yes there is only one style ever offered. They came from Germany I believe and are found in Buick Reatta's, Jaguars, Mercedes, etc. As far as the vehicles, some were vacuum boost instead.
thank you for posting this. I have a 2008 civic hybrid (no vac booster) with the same style symptoms and 3 shops couldn't figure out why I press my brake and my brake light comes on. we ruled out its the brake fluid sensor. what gets me is that when your depressurizing yours, you can pump yours multiple times. however with mine, 3 pumps and the pedal is hard with the car off. so I think the accumulator is my issue. did you have to bleed your braking system?
I think the comment that you are looking for is a very good I think the video is a very good video I have a 1989 Lincoln lse I think what you are showing me is the part that went cuz I heard a lot of pressure but at the same time did does it leak brake fluid when that blows out that pacific part could you please tell me thank you how do you send it
That is likely the ABS pump motor relay. You can find those at most auto parts stores. Less common failures are: ABS pump pressure switch and ABS pump motor failure. Start with the relay first.
we replaced the accumulator on my car, and still only have regular brakes with boost every once in a while. Otherwise rock hard pedal w/ only front brakes working. My mechanic has tried everything and we can not find any replacment parts!! suggestion???
Question:, i have a 1987 Turbo coupe and my brakes are rock hard, no power assist, both lights (abs-brake) are on and the charging motor is running. I can't figure if its the pressure switch or the accumulator. what would most likely be the issue in your opinion?. Thank you
Hi there, i'm ashamed to say that i gave up and put the car on a back burner, but i may just blindly buy an accumulator for $200 and see what happens, worst case scenario i'll be out of $200.@@freddygalvan669
Thank you! This was very helpful in diagnosing my brake issues in my 1992 Lincoln Mark VII LSC. Sadly, it appears that Prior Manufacturing has gone out of business. I've reached out to HYDAC to see if they can steer me in the right direction of another supplier. I know this video is 8 years old but if you have any advice or extra info, I'd love to hear it. Thank you!
I gave up the search almost 5 years ago. No accumulators left and hydraulic shops weren't able to help me. I ate the cost of refitting the brakes entirely with a Hydroboost kit from SPEED Manufacturing. He includes a bracket that adapts the booster specifically to the Mark VII firewall. I spent 7 or 8 hundred on a reman booster with steel hose kit and he upgraded me for free to a brand new booster. Hoses connect to the power steering pump and you have worry free heavy duty braking from that point on. Next issue is my suspension.. 30 years old and still riding on air.
@@jessemedina4482 Where is SPEED Manufacturing located? Looking to convert as well, if you could point us in the right direction it would be appreciated!

How to you brake bleed the actuator on these
my pump runs constantly, but my brakes are crazy hard, is that a pressure switch failure or the accumulator?
Same system on my1988 Thunderbird Turbocoupe. Almost ran into a traffic jam of cars when mine failed on the highway.
