Mountain in front / Cross in the back. Zero complaints into my second season of riding around 15 hours a week on every terrain except for jumps and rock gardens. Great tires.
I live in southwest Michigan. Thinking of getting the same combo. Both 29x2.3. They're for a 135/140mm full suspension trail bike that I will be riding mostly flow trail that's hard pack with a little sand, roots, and rocks. Any reason for me to go with something more aggressive in your opinion?
My Trail King 2.2s kick ass... best tires I've ever had by a mile.
They roll so good on any thing even packed snow and ice.
With the spring thaw and mud I chose these 2.2s and with my skinnier rims are the absolute perfect 👌 tire for my 29er.
Anytime I think of trying something new, I go for a ride, and fall in love with my Race Kings all over again. Just a great all around tire.
Through all the years i've tried a lot of tires, Conti's MK and TK are my primary choice for all around enduro. Love them to bits !
I haven’t ridden any continental tires yet. I like they are made in the county they are based in unlike almost all the other tire manufacturers. Hope to get a free pair to try too hahaha. Keep up the good informative videos guys and thanks.
I have a Trail King 26x2.4 and boy it really bites into the trail, rocks, ruts, and mud.
Down side is it's not too happy when jumping or doing high speed technical courses.
Plus it doesn't wear off easily. Almost half a year and been going trails, roads, and long rides. Not even a clear sign of wearing.
I absolutely love it.
@RR_Productions I always pedal wherever I go be it near or far.
The Trail Kings being a trail tire you wouldn’t exactly expect a fast ride. It’s a little resistive with those huge blocks per rotation.
However, going off the pavement is where these tires really take it all back. Personally, it feels like tank treads / sleepers like it just doesn’t care.
Plus I don’t know if any kind of use (except burnouts) can bald these tires. The small crowns on it are still exposed and proud.
@RR_Productions pavement and more.
Free stuff is my favorite kind of stuff.
😂😂
Aids is free.
@@cheddarshredder6572 why would you say that
I replaced the Bontrager XR2's on my Trek Marlin 7 (29er) with the Continental Trail King 2.3 recently. Way better, more comfortable and much grippier than the XR2's. And because the Trail King's are slightly wider, they actually roll a little faster.
Going all Conti!
Yup those xr2's suck, they are way too soft
Yup. Did the exact same on my X-cal 8 except 2.2 not 2.3. WAY better lol.
i’m doing the same exact thing lol.
@Dopey Dope i’m replying to the original comment
@Dopey Dope what?
I recently bought some continental race kings for my dirt jump bike
I have those fitted in my 29"
Setting up a light trail bike fast rolling.
Choices : A) 2.6 crossking front, 2.3 Cross king rear
B) Mountain king 2.3 front, 2.3 Cross king rear
All black chilli protection
Not sure which would give me more grip upfront
My terrain is quite mixed, there's loose over hard pack, there's roots, some rocks, some gravel and unfinished tarmac, other than that it's mainly hard soil.
Over here our downhill lasts about maximum 1 minute hah.
Thank you
I know this is an old post, but I was curious about what you decided to go with. I was thinking of going for choice B. for my 135/140mm full suspension trail bike. I ride mostly in south west Michigan where we have have mostly hard pack and a little sand, rocks, and roots. Mostly dry conditions. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
happy to have a pair of trail king
27.5
i just bought trail kings for my kona lava dome 2017, as a replacement for my kenda slant six. i originally ordered X-Kings but had been told there was none in stock. I can’t wait to finally get them on and give them a try as they look amazing and you’ve got to love the thick tires
i badly need a pair of trail king.. i ripped my race king because didn't anticipate how rocky my last ride was. if i can have that for even half the price, I'd b a happy man. 🙏🙏🙏
Would love a pair of these😍
I do answer the question and share it, but I hope I'm still the lucky guys who get one pairs of that tires! What a nice tires that Continental! I saw them made Bus tire with high durability!!
These tyres look awesome. I'd go for mountain kings. My current nobby's are 4 years old and really need replacing!
Got 10 dh races this year and could with some fresh rubber to keep the bike running smooth and got some enduro races to do. KEEP SHREDDING 🚴♂️🚴♂️💨💨🤟🤟🤟
The old pre Projekt Baron 26"x2.5" downhill tire was actually called Rain King before they renamed it to Der Baron. I guess having rain in the name was considered too specific for the tire, which is a really great and sticky tire not only in the rain. The Projekt version is a bit less in all aspects, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, because it also weighs less and has much less rolling resistance.
(Also the Trail King was called Rubber Queen a couple of years ago 😉)
👍🏻
Does the protection feature solve against my cat slashing tires? Thanks
For me the best Conti Tyre is the Double Fighter 3.
I have them on my Hardtail Front and Back.
Super fast on Street and Gravel, and for me enough Grip on Trails.
Same.
Like the look of these tyres! Looks damn cool
Trail king all the wayy. Just love it. My style.!
I got Mountain King RaceSport 2.2 for my 27.5 & 29er, love it, been used other tyre maxiss icon, kenda nevegal x pro, at last back to conty tyre it suite the way iam riding, i would like to try conti SpeedKing some day 😍
That Speed King made me feel a little hot and bothered. Perfect for my secret project bike.
So what's the best 27.5 x 2.8/3.0 tire from Continental? I would love to have a pair
i would be definitely consider running Continental tires on my bike if they would just make a 27.5 2.8 tire!! Some manufacturers dont think 2.8 is important. Its all i run on my bike... its perfect for me.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Having trouble deciding between: Der Baron, Mountain King and Trail King.
What'd you choose?
For those who can't enter, try on PC. Love you're vids btw.
Wish I would saw this 4yrs ago.
Yah still have the promo lol 🖖
In Continental's Case, the Baron is the one who takes the Queen home ;)
My Trigger would be very Happy with a pair of the new Mountain King!
My cross country set up uses an Xking 2.2 on the front with raceking 2.0 on the rear. Mtb Rides here in ph are road rides and trail rides my set up has low rolling resistance tbh I love them only problem is my x king running through a shard of glass causing it to have 2 millimeters of puncture when my mate used my bike (27.5)
Bla, bla, bla...
Conti ROCKS!!!
@Dopey Dope what bike? what terrain? what style?
Nice video Guys!! love continental and i'm glad i saw all the selection here i've used them for ages and in the last 2 years as main tyres on all my bikes.. road as well.. I've just done some mountain trails in the alps in a mix of dry and wet condition due to snow melting... over wet rocks dry hard pack, sharp rocks and i was impressed with my Continental Race King MTB Tyre - Wire 2.2 i had no punctures, gr8 grip climbing but bit sketchy on descent over sandy bits... I got these for my London daily xc Riding in a mix of road and forest hardpack riding. For the wet or local bike parks i prefer the grip of the Continental X-King Pure Grip 29er Folding MTB Tyre 2.2
Hey GMBN,
do you remember your last continental tire giveaway (last year in october) ? I am the winner of that giveaway and until today i have "only" recieved for of them. Im constantly writing emails with you guys but nothing happende since christmas. Could you please have look at this as i really need these tires (new bike incoming) ?
Thank you
Fabian
I know it’s late but bro, give chances to other people.
Maxxis are overrated. They get more hype than they deserve. Continental is super underated.
have ridden conti and maxxis.
Contis are very general, without many variations for the needs of different riders and wear out pretty fast.
Maxxis tires are the longest living tires and i litterally raped my dhr/rekon set and the dhr II is still on after over 3500km and lots of hard braking, even on asphalt.
just love how i can get each tire in each size, compound, casing, etc i want it
I've been using trail king for few years now, don't be fool thinking that the thread line won't go fast, I've tried running it at 50psi, this thing simply roll and roll lol!!!
Good info on these Conti tire range, the Baron is also available in a 27.5x2.6 version now! I will try and win a pair of those!
Always wanted a pair of speed king
I've been running the new der baron projekt 2.6 for the last month and it's simply awesome 🤘🏼
mountain king or Trail king 😁😍😘
Yes! Got the old trail kings and would love to give the Barons a go 👊
Helping the average cyclist demystify a complex and very important element of mountain biking for safety and performance is highly valued .
Thanks !
I would like pair of any of the gmbn things
good luck to the winners
Really like the TrailKing!
I used it all of my three bikes. Mk2 2.4 chili on my FS 26ers, xking for hardtail 26 and 29ers pure grip.chili tech way more solid but expensive.
The RaceKing I need for gravel riding
Very interesting and more importantly informative video. Thank you.
anyone tried the speed King? Seems like a good option for road and gravel. Does it behave ok in gravel?
Do more of these vids!
Maybe some Specialized, Schwalbe, updated Maxxis....
More are coming..... Keep an eye out 😉
I want tyres too!
Love ur vids GMBN!
Would love some of these
I have road the budget version of the mountain king and trail king and they developed wobbles after riding a couple months . The mountain king was not rideable and dangerous . Continental would not warranty the tire for the wobble because they said you cant see a physical defect . Well what is an extreme wobble but a display of a physical defect .
Heyo! Those are some sick tyres. The treads look awesome.
That trail king 👌
OMG I am so excited. I want a tyres too. Please
1 pair of Trail King 29er please. 😅😅
I got a crossking is it good?
Rolling them on!
Hate being too young to enter
Joe O'Carroll I bet that is anoying me too
Same 😭😭
Just enter your parents.
Cole Germain thanks
I always enter my dad
love to have one of those tyres! :)
My favourite is cross ki because I have an 26 inch wheels
Yes please from Australia
What are folk's thoughts on the Mountain King (R) Trail King (F) setup?
Can you put a inner tube in the cross country tyre . Thanks for your video helping decide 💪🏽
For Enduro bike tires combo Mountain king front n trail king rear?? Or Trail front n mountain rear?
I can´t decide between Trail king or Baron. Trail King is bigger but Baron has the bigger knobs and more Grip ?
Would you recommend the Cross King 27.5x2.2 for front and Race King 27.5x2.2 for rear?
They Look great
Great informational video 👍
Can u do a quick review of Kenda xc, trail, Enduro tire choices please Neil?
This was an old comment but the XC tires i used were slant six. they’re not extremely easy to get for RRP but i assume there is somewhere that sells them at a reasonable price. they are light and are very good apart from the lack of protection
Need to try the lightest for xc
tires look great! might have to buy some if i dont win!
Do they do 2.8 with
Do you even ship out to Poland? I bought myself a used mountain bike, and could use me a pair! :)
Maxxis Ikon or Raceking? Any thoughts?
are they tubeless?
Almost bought some Continental DH tires but was told they have tubeless issues and constantly leak sealant. Has this issue been fixed?
Wish to wear it to my bike
I just got the race king's compared to previous maxxis crossmark on tarmac and in the forest it's much faster and easier to climb
Is the Speed King tubeless-ready??
When is the give away time?? did i mist it?
I consider buying Trail King 29x2.4 tires, but I am not sure if they will fit in the frame in my bike. Can anyone tell me width and height of this tire?
Hi
does it make sense to mix the trial king in the back and the baron or kaiser in the front .... is it better to stay on one of them ????
Hello on your bike what combo do u usually use personally
"Eideidas" the big shoe manufacture....
How long will the trail king last on the roadb rather than off road?
Would love to use these I’m too poor to own them in-fact all I want is a amazing bike and to ride for my country but I don’t have that I only have a carerra
Gotta love a giveaway!
For fitness bike which can take 700x35 which one you recommend for 70 percent road and 30 percent mountain loose hardtrail roads? Ligtest and fastest
raceking
Is the speed king also tubeless ready?
Love these tires.!!! 😍
Very nice tyres
Is Baron front, Trail King rear a good compromise for enduro but also the occasional trail ride?
Yes, absolutely!
Can i use trailking on my rear any thoughts?
Is the trail king can go with inner tubes?
Hi, please can somwan let me know if I can go with speed king tubless? Thanks
Just entered, would really do some fresh MTN Kings 😁
What type of trail king is the new one ?
