Technical interest has for a long while been unusual among PoC, but lately that's changing. Black techs in particular seem to be drawn to robotics. I had a six week long running discussion, a forthright, frank, and earnest discussion, with my black boss about actuating an end effector for a pick and place arm. He disagreed that I could do the job with pneumatics, which I was determined to do because the components are cheap and compressed air readily available in any manufacturing environment. He also had his doubts about my true motivation, once saying to me, "You're like those steam engine guys, gonna save the world with steam power. Nicest guys you'd ever want to meet and they're all crackpots." In the end, I proved he was right. Out went my air cylinders, in came his stepper motors and linear actuators. In thirty years of engineering, I think I met maybe five black engineers, one of them a woman and one of them the only black boss I ever had. He was good, and she was good, but the other three, not so much. That's about the same good-to-bad ratio as white engineers. But the point is, blacks are 13% of the population and maybe 0.05% of the techs. Western Civ is a technological culture at root. To succeed, speaking in general terms for those without much athletic talent or abilities valued by the entertainment industry, PoC's gotta step up. This calls for a massive cultural paradigm shift and you know what? I think it is underway.
Man I'm glad I found you, I've been doing these type things since I was a kid. My family thought I was strange but now I'm mister fix it 😀 you're giving me new ideas for all the treasures I've been collecting for many years. 👍
As the world economy gets closer and closer to collapsing, we are going to see more and more people reusing parts that used to go into landfills. This guy is a genius at re=purposing parts. I'd love to see a TV or internet series with him and his inventions. Perhaps some manufacturing company would appreciate his creative thinking.
Neat stuff! There's an old Sicilian saying: he knows the song, but he doesn't know the music. As far as engineering, you're a Pavarotti. This is from an engineer who has been fabricating all things great and small for many decades.
When I saw the motor you salvaged, the first thing I thought of was a lathe. 3/4 hp. Nice. You’re one of those salt-of-the-earth Americans who make the country better by your industriousness.
Jeremy is like Mr. Rodgers for adults. teaching is fun for him and this new student . i will buy salvage as i am not able to do grunt work anymore, but i can tinker - thank you Sir. old man mike bengyak
I just want to let you know. I sat through a 1:30 minute commercial for a Ford Ranger that I could care less about so you could get paid. Lol I also just subscribed. You rock!
I'll see your Ford Ranger and raise you Donald Trump. For some reason, UA-cam really wants me to vote for Donald Trump. What they end up actually making me do is junking the video entirely. But I sat through 5 whole seconds of Donald F. Trump just to watch this guy tear down a washing machine. That's how much I respect him.
This is the kinda guy who needs a show on PBS-educational TV-not propaganda TV. JF is great and I hope he has a 1000 videos like this. Jeremy, you should consult with Disney World, as they could use a creative genius like you to breath more life into Epcot and all their other parks.

You are not only an inventive Maker, but your video is done really well with no down-time filler. You should caution your viewers about the dangers of an un-enclosed motor with possible exposure to live parts.
I’m converting a washing machine into a commercial salad spinner, found your motor wiring video so helpful! I love understanding how things work to the extent of altering their purpose! Thank you for making your videos! I’m inspired!!
My uncle used an old Kenmore washing machine motor to make a winch that pulled my mother's wheelchair up the stairs along tracks he specially created for her since she was an invalid. Worked super well and served us for 15 years until she passed away.
I really like the way you think! We throw away too many good things that lay for eternity in a land fill. It's great that you save these things and repurpose them! Very nice clock and toys! Awesome!
Jeremy! You da man!!! I am extremely impressed with your ability to create value from what others would call "junk". More power to you and may God Bless you greatly!

Great Vids young man!I've never had a son nor a father, but if you have then hopefully he's a proud man,and if I had a son like you,i would be Very Proud 👍👍👍🙂
This is AWESOME!! :D Seeing something like an old washing machine being ripped apart and perfectly good insides being repurposed into either other machinery or art (which is exactly what I think your clock is!) is BRILLIANT! I don't need to tell you or anyone else here how much stuff gets put into landfills. Saving money, using your mind and talent and creating something new out of something old is AWESOME! Thank you for sharing this vid with us. You've just gotten a new subscriber! :D
You really an honest-to-god and COMPETENT engineer - something rare to see these days. That lathe is priceless (to say nothing of that clock - WOW!), and you have inspired me to look into building one. I hope to find a video of yours on how to do it. As to your asking others about ideas, I pretty much think you've outsmarted most if not all of them.
You are the KING of making useful stuff from (what my wife calls) junk. Now, i can’t get the builds done as fast as i would like. And my wife is constantly worried about my piles of materials. Keep on building. I will be watching. Thanks
also the washers with a steel drum inside the steel drum with all the little holes all around it makes the best fire pit I've ever had and it looks really cool when the air coming through the holes ignites and burns like no other
In the early 1980s I made an old hand meat grinder powered by using a washing machine motor. We lived on a lot of venison back in those days and the old hand cranks wore you out. The motor had a start winding contactor that was worn out so I just put a push button switch ( the lid safety switch from the washer ) in place of the start contacts and mounted it externally, and then just pushed the button to get it started.
Totally agree with you guys! He is so smart and good at explaining everything, and his voice is so mellow. This guy is like the Bob Ross of makers! Seeing how most of you commented a year ago, my only regret is not finding about these videos till now.
Young man, I love your enthusiasm for these well thought-out and fun projects. I especially like the ones where the meshing gears do nothing but entertain your mind as you are turning them, sort of like the spinners do for my grandchildren nowadays. I could see myself playing with the gears while thinking of new projects to build. I wish for you and yours a Happy New Year and may the Good Lord take a liking to you! Warm regards, Mick Bradford

@@Jeremy_Fielding In the case of the microwave motor, that looks like the ones in the modern top load washers with those synchronous motors on the actuators on those models, except those are 3 rpm, and the one you have is 6 rpm. It depends on what microwave has what type of synchronous motor for the turntable, such as 2.5, 3, 4, 4.8, 5, or 6 rpm. They also randomly change direction when you turn them on, and I'm sure the same is true for yours. For that reason, I made a mechanical tab that keeps mine from turning the wrong direction. Dude! Your a genius! I’m a refrigeration/appliance technician. I’m always reusing scrap appliances to make stuff, but not on your level. I’m impressed with all you’ve done. I love the clock and desk toys. I’ve made a portable room heater for my shop from dryer parts as well as metal art, roses, from the cabinets. I’ve saved gears and pulleys to decorate the walls in my shop, and turned a refrigerator into a bookcase. I thought I was creative, but that’s nothing compared to the things you’ve done! I’m subscribing. Looking forward to seeing move of your great creations!
I use the plastic ones for catch basins for downspouts and such. Dig a hole insert tub. you can make a concrete cover to run the downspout into. I don't have pipe so I made a funnel shaped concrete cover. I use them to clean gravel too
Very inspiring and resourceful video. Encouraging to see a great mind at work utilizing and re-using unwanted parts and components from discarded items. Excellent video. Very impressive indeed. Thank you very much for enlightening me. Truly a joy to watch and learn.
Square gears? First for me. I was ready to watch the making of a fire pit or something simple but you flew over my head with what you do. Great stuff. Keep it up.
I always try to recycle, reuse or repair everything, so I like your channel very much. Right now I am making a small hot air tool, for soldering tiny things.
Absolutely ingenious ...i pride myself in thinking outside the box, but wow you are outside the dimension! Growing up poor, we couldnt afford much, but were only limited by our imagination and scrap! You sir have inspired me! I'm blown away!..May you find joy and peace in the year to come.
Jeremy congratulations for having a channel were you care to show practical and relevant tips and well done simple and easy to understand we need more of this, in this days were its so much drama, great channel bruh!!
I love this video. There are 4 things I enjoy. Woodworking, taking things apart, building things, and clocks. I think you may have inspired me to build a wooden clock. I just need to find a motor. I'm a new subscriber for sure.
Great work, first time watching your channel. Nice workshop, Love the clock. I just dropped a bunch of stuff of at the junkyard, now I have to go back and get it all!
Hi Jeremy, I found your channel from watching Destin’s latest video, and really love what you’re doing here!! I used to take any and every electronic devices I could get my hands on and could never figure out what and how to use my parts that I accumulated and this video gave me inspiration to try and do things with my parts and also reminded me of my passion. Thank you :)
If only salvaging and repurposing were part of mainstream industry. It makes me weep to see perfectly serviceable articles thrown on the scrap heap. Thank you so much, Jeremy. The world needs more like you and fewer merchant bankers (whatever they are).
Dude I highly commend you for your awesome work/inventions, your work is great.....the gears you made will bring anyone back to a nice happy easy going state of mine. I can also see it being a good stress reliever. KEEP UP the great work and videos. Thank you.
Coolest video I've seen so far, so refreshing and different. Nice to see someone actually saving very good and often expensive parts in a throw away society, genius!😁 I wish I was your neighbor.😂
I very much enjoyed this interesting presentation. You have an extremely pleasant manner of explaining things. Of course, I have subscribed straight away. Thank you for sharing.
You, sir, are a wizard. I've been making mechanical stuff from "junk" people threw out my whole life, and really enjoy your approach and style. Your technical knowledge is most impressive as well. Thanks for everything you've posted.
Initially, I was impressed, but by the end of the video, I am sure that you are a mechanical mastermind! I build small projects, but you have set the bar high with those wood gears. I could only dream of building a working clock of that magnitude. I work on cars so I always have an abundance of bearings and gears. I overlook the surplus of washing machine parts, but now I will tear into them! Thanks for relighting my mechanical fire.
Wow! It is amazing what you are able to create! Love everything you showed in your video! I take things apart to repurpose too, but, I use them in my cardmaking and ATC's and mixed media! God bless you!

Intriguing brain you have...cool too, playful ideas are fun. I want to put together a 40 kw electric system for boats (liquid cooled). I'll think some more.
I didn't even want to watch this right now. I clicked on it by accident. Bravo. You are a modern Leonardo Da Vinci. You should explore his ideas and make them with modern tooling.
Very ingenious repurposing of materials. You have a new sub here. I too scrounge things and workshop has "stuff" in it. Wife would give me a hard time about all the "junk" as she called it but early on she quickly toned it down when one of her favorite things broke so I took it to my shop and repaired it in about 10 minutes or so. End of story... Lol!!
@@Jeremy_Fielding What I've learned, that if, after several years of having something, I finally discard it, a week later I'll be looking for it to put it to use, then mentally kick myself in the butt for having discarded it.
The clock is genious, Jeremy! I'm a roaming fella and often doing odd jobs in our for a place to pitch my tent and call home for a moment. Everybody is always throwing great, usable stuff out and I end up salvaging many things and parts. Which become gifts and bartering commodities on the road.

I’ve saved gears and pulleys to decorate the walls in my shop, and turned a refrigerator into a bookcase. I thought I was creative, but that’s nothing compared to the things you’ve done! I’m subscribing. Looking forward to seeing move of your great creations!
If the washing machine has a stainless steel tub, it makes a great pot for pot plants, and also as a small fire pit.
i pull the metal tubs and weld legs on bottom and resell them as fire pits however his looked like many i see now days, made from plastic.
sell those as "one use" fire pits. (don't mind the black smoke)
Or a crab steamer.
I use the plastic ones for catch basins for downspouts and such. Dig a hole insert tub. you can make a concrete cover to run the downspout into. I don't have pipe so I made a funnel shaped concrete cover. I use them to clean gravel too
Another great video. Inspirational. I will have to get out in the shop today and make something. All the best from the UK.
I love it!

Jeremy Fielding Another fine video my friend... The clock is ingenious your a very gifted individual and Im very impressed.
back in the 1970s my neighbor made a wood lathe out of a washer,,he made weed pipes with it and sold them at the flea mkt
My dad made a wood lathe out of an old washing machine motor.
Best comment award goes too this guy lol Seth!!!
Thanks to you for making a fantastic video and thanks to Matthias for guiding me here.
Creative minds helping each other.
Very inspiring and resourceful video. Encouraging to see a great mind at work utilizing and re-using unwanted parts and components from discarded items. Excellent video. Very impressive indeed. Thank you very much for enlightening me. Truly a joy to watch and learn.
+Victor Lee thank you!
Square gears? First for me. I was ready to watch the making of a fire pit or something simple but you flew over my head with what you do. Great stuff. Keep it up.
+Seezor thank you!
OK Jeremy you had me smiling the whole time I was watching. I subscribed.
Jeremy congratulations for having a channel were you care to show practical and relevant tips and well done simple and easy to understand we need more of this, in this days were its so much drama, great channel bruh!!
Great ingenuity! You remind me of my grandfather, he would reuse parts from other things as well. You made my day sir, thanks!
Dude you are a breath of fresh air. Love your ingenuity.
I love this video. There are 4 things I enjoy. Woodworking, taking things apart, building things, and clocks. I think you may have inspired me to build a wooden clock. I just need to find a motor. I'm a new subscriber for sure.
+Tim Fevens welcome to my neighborhood! We are glad to have you
Jeremy Fielding mmm mmm
Great work, first time watching your channel. Nice workshop, Love the clock. I just dropped a bunch of stuff of at the junkyard, now I have to go back and get it all!
+Ken C lol... my work here is done!
Loved it all Jeremy. Thank you!!!!
I've never seen Badger do any of this shit. ;-)
Great video, content and production. You have a good mind. Hopefully you have the job you deserve and are making a good living. Best regards to you!
What a cool video. Thanks for sharing your awesome talents.
Thank you!
Dude I highly commend you for your awesome work/inventions, your work is great.....the gears you made will bring anyone back to a nice happy easy going state of mine.
I can also see it being a good stress reliever. KEEP UP the great work and videos.
Thank you.
The world needs more thinkers, tinkers and makers like you.
Sir I wish you were my next door neighbor. Between the two of us, anything might be possible. Take care my man.
+Patrick thank you for the kind words. I am honored you feel that way.
American ingenuity at work! Guys like this putzing around with things, are the ones that discover huge benefits to society.
Super cool. I want you on my team when ther apocalypse goes down. You got skills, my friend!
Very cool. I really like the square gears that really work . 👍🏻
+Jeff Sprake thank you!
Great job buddy you're a genius
+22KPAR1X Cyberdyne my job here is done! :)
Wow! It is amazing what you are able to create! Love everything you showed in your video! I take things apart to repurpose too, but, I use them in my cardmaking and ATC's and mixed media! God bless you!
You are my brother from another mother! Nice content, interesting projects, good editing. Trifecta!
For the first time I got your channel and I am Enjoying YOUR TALENT. A TALENT HAS MANY DEFINITIONS. Knowledge + Economy + ECONOMICS+MEEKNESS+TRUSTWORTHINESS+LOVING SOUL+... Brother you Have them ALL By God's Grace . March On Forward Only And Never LOOK Yesterdays. They Are All Gone.
Intriguing brain you have...cool too, playful ideas are fun. I want to put together a 40 kw electric system for boats (liquid cooled). I'll think some more.
Your clock is a master art love from Iraq 👍
Iraq is here! I love it. Its pretty exciting to see people from all over the world looking to my tiny shop. Thank you sir.
Thank you , please don't stop posting video
I will do my best :)
Dude, you are the Mac Gyver of scrap parts! Very creative!
This is great. I jad no idea washing machines had stuff like that in them. Love the channel
Creative genius 👍🏼
during the zombie apocalypse, I'm gonna find this guy and help him build a fort!
I didn't even want to watch this right now. I clicked on it by accident. Bravo.
You are a modern Leonardo Da Vinci. You should explore his ideas and make them with modern tooling.
and my wife was just telling me that the washer was "on it's last legs", now I'm looking forward to it dying
May it rest in peace
Jeremy Fielding but not RUST in peace! ;)
And said wife will see to it you haul it off to the junk yard and not salvage parts from it XD
Bit harsh. Try reconciliation.
Nangid Kram I got a car for my wife.
Lol!!
+Robert N welcome to the neighborhood!
Nice work I also love to repurpose things ,although my wife says I am a junk collector
Perhaps Junk "Converter"?? :)
Nope, you're a "recyclist".
I been doing the same for the last 40years and luv repurposing discarded items
@@Jeremy_Fielding
What I've learned, that if, after several years of having something, I finally discard it, a week later I'll be looking for it to put it to use, then mentally kick myself in the butt for having discarded it.
The clock is genious, Jeremy! I'm a roaming fella and often doing odd jobs in our for a place to pitch my tent and call home for a moment. Everybody is always throwing great, usable stuff out and I end up salvaging many things and parts. Which become gifts and bartering commodities on the road.
Great video, excellent ideas Jeremy. Thanks
Im impressed! To build this wooden gears took sure a lot of time. And thanks for the videos, very informative and no bullshit. Greetings from croatia!
Great video , wonder if you could use the washing machine gearbox for a "windmill generator "?
Good Music, Good Camera Work- Very good production to go with your presentation.
