Define "good metal worker". He shows skill and talent in his techniques, but is it "good" to spend 6weeks labor plus hundreds of dollars in materials to build a single machine that you can buy off the shelf for less than $500? How much is his time worth? If you assume $15/hour and a 40 hour work week, those 240 hours costed $3,600 USD for a $500 tool...and that's BEFORE you factor in material cost! This was well done, but please consider wearing personal protective equipment (i.e gloves, coveralls, eye and breathing protection. I got a couple of questions about the motor from the washing machine: 1. What's the power output of the rotating shaft of the induction motor from a washing machine? To Calculate the max power output just use the equation (2*3.14*Torque*Max RPM)/60 2. At what Voltage and Current does the motor operate (Im assuming probably 240V and 13 ish Amps) 3. How much mass does it have (Preferabily in kg but pounds are fine too) 4. Do you think you could put this in anything and make it go at a decent speed, say a bicycle for example? Although from the information of the 3 questions above it's clear if it is possible but just want an answer Also really like the belt grinder you made!
At first, i wasn't sure if the motor was the center of attention with just a belt attached to spin the thingymajig. I was like, "pfft yeah whatever, anyone can do that" Then the editing of this video had me stay. I was flabbergastted. Then came the end product, and i just sat there for a couple of minutes and thought how beautiful this video is. Amazing at how physically and digitally crafted it's been done. Thanks for that.
Between the video editing and craftsmanship, I was completely invested and ready for this creation to turn out to be nothing by the end, and then I was amazed once I saw it turned out to be a grinder.
Very cool video - an excellent demonstration of the use of a workshop and very good fabrication skills, to create a high quality tool; that will greatly speed up the production of further projects... Very nicely done!

Very impressive work and a very well made creative video with some banging tunes. As an old school tool and die maker my only concern would be the balance of the rollers because I’d say it’s very difficult to achieve concentricity using your construction method. I imagine this might cause a bit of vibration when operating the finished tool. A centre lathe would have come in very handy although I appreciate that would have taken away from the theme of the build. Very engaging vid regardless. I’ve really got to get a welder. Many thanks.

That’s probably the best video of making something that I have watched on UA-cam!!
I’m not going to make one myself, but it was incredibly informative AND entertaining!! Your editing skills are off the charts!
I could watch this all day, everyday. It's both mesmerising and inspiring.
Just found your channel, insane editing and video skills! Awesome craftsmanship as well, subbed and will be binge watching your past vids.
Beautiful, this man has more talent in a single finger than I have in my whole body. 😮💨
Very cool! I know it isn't as easy as it looks, especially hand making the wheels, but you do a fantastic job at making the project approachable for a moderate skilled and minimally equipped DIYer (except for the press, not too many folks watching probably have that, I don't at least. Wheels aren't too expensive, so...) Great video, instant sub with notifications :)
I went to technical high school, graduated there electromechanical technician, i did not graduate from university but had a couple of years of mechanical engineering. How i wish to had a workshop to tinker with things, i might not have your craft and talent, but time patience and learning goes a long way to solve anyone needs, hoping to move to a house with space for a workshop before getting too old. Salute
This was well done, but please consider wearing personal protective equipment (i.e gloves, coveralls, eye and breathing protection. I've lost count of the number of colleagues or hearing stories of welders who ended up with melanoma forming on their arms through the constant exposure to high levels of UV light from the arc from not keeping them covered, or those who developed chronic obstructive pulmonary disease through inhaling vaporised zinc or cadmium plating on bolts, nuts and washers or just the preserving oil on steel.
Your content is very good but please do this old engineer a favour by protecting yourself. Subscribed 👍
Very cool build. Well done. 👍👍
I have a motor out of a vacuum & it absolutely screams.
Problem is, I can't for the life of me figure out what to build with it so it's been sitting for a year. LoL
Your building skill is matched only by your editing skill. Both are amazing!
10:58 - I hope that someday I, too, will have the skill and strength to drill 2 slots in steel BY HAND!! Ha, ha! GREAT special effect!
If this reply is serious, I pity you. If not I don't envy you......
Wow, you gave me a whole new look at making a belt sander! Also, what production value! Great job.

i dunno whats better your handywork or your editing and acting skills....well done!!!
YOU ARE VERY CREATIVE
Fabrication skills is off the charts and your video editing skills match. Always well done and very entertaining to watch. Thank you
Obnoxious music takes away from the build. 🤔
Its hard to tell what is more amazing your work designing this machine - or your editing - some of the most creative editing i have ever seen- will 100% appeal to builders and DIY crowd!!!
“It would be much easier to build a belt grinder once you have a belt grinder” -thoughts had while building a belt grinder
Don't throw away that motor!!
Don't throw away that workbench!
Don't throw away those tools!
Don't throw away that welder!
Don't throw away 1.5 months of time!
I'm sure the average family who's about to dump their direct drive washing machine is really going to appreciate this one.
Otherwise, don't listen to my nonsense... Good job on your efforts. You have "Mad" skills!
I got a couple of questions about the motor from the washing machine:
1. What's the power output of the rotating shaft of the induction motor from a washing machine? To Calculate the max power output just use the equation
(2*3.14*Torque*Max RPM)/60
2. At what Voltage and Current does the motor operate (Im assuming probably 240V and 13 ish Amps)
3. How much mass does it have (Preferabily in kg but pounds are fine too)
4. Do you think you could put this in anything and make it go at a decent speed, say a bicycle for example?
Although from the information of the 3 questions above it's clear if it is possible but just want an answer
Also really like the belt grinder you made!
Sounds to me like you're capable of answering your own questions from what you said. So why ask?
At first, i wasn't sure if the motor was the center of attention with just a belt attached to spin the thingymajig. I was like, "pfft yeah whatever, anyone can do that" Then the editing of this video had me stay. I was flabbergastted. Then came the end product, and i just sat there for a couple of minutes and thought how beautiful this video is. Amazing at how physically and digitally crafted it's been done. Thanks for that.
One of the best videos that I have seen in a long time! Well done!
I don't think the washing machine motor was the key to this build! 😂 Great vid. (rest of the owl)
You are by far a phenomenal editor sir and seriously you're a bell kept me entertained from start to finish great job keep doing what you're doing
Very nice,I bought one at a garage sale it has a 10 “ plate sander on it all also . Best $20 I spent in a long time.
Great video. Snapping off that 5/8 all thread was awesome. Thanks
"The machine is of very good quality." 🤣😂 Your humility made me laugh. The machine is of most SUPERIOR quality. But it is good to be humble.
I can't imagine how many short videos and layers there are in this video🤯🤝
I'm not sure what's more impressive: the build or the video editing.
You’re very well rounded and your skills/ creativity blow my mind! 🤯🤯🤯
Thank you!
Great and. excellent. took me two months to build the unit. I I like it so much am building a second with a brand new motor. Thanks!
Holy shut........ you are a master. You can build a tank!!! and the video edition is amazing, the first 10 secs you can bet it´s superman doing stuff. Congrats man, you are one of my heroes.
Great grinder and video. We shared this video in our homemade tools forum this week 😎
Next on the shop upgrade list is a good air compressor and a die grinder!! No more hand filing! Great build bro
Randomly saw this video in my feed. Mad respect for the musicality and artistry in your edit. I appreciate it. ✌️
Agreed with pretty much all the other comments. I casually found this channel, and now I’m excited that I did. All the other meatballs I subscribe too are going to have to up their game quite a bit, because this was awesome. Not too long, and with the editing style i didn’t even care what the build was. Not an EDM fan, but, oh well, I works for dude here. KEEP GOING!!
I was wondering why you're called madman, but then I saw you grind down half a pencil flat and then sharpen a piece of all-thread like a pencil. Madman confirmed.
Sweet build, by the way, very good work!
What can I say that hasn't already been said??? Your video was, in my opinion, one of the best I've ever seen!! Keep it up! Following!
So overbuilt, i love it. Loved those cuts as well.
Awesome fabrication. Quality work of the highest kind.
You work precisely and beautifully. Real craftmanship!
Very much appreciate the work you put in just for the video alone. Now, the grinder is amazing as well. 2x72 inch belts? I've been meaning to make one of my own, just need to stock up on odds and ends!
