Thank you for your support, I REALLY do appreciate it.
Another awesome restoration on two very nice castings!! ❤
Thank You David!
I changed my Galaxie to a standard car and the Mercury to a Police car. Two of my favourite castings - I love the narrow wheel Superfast Matchbox cars of this era.
The Galaxie would make a great standard car, you'd have to find a regular wheel Mercury though I reckon, the hogged out wheel arches on the superfast version don't do much for me.
Great job Peter 👍🏻
Thank you Mark, Happy New Year and thank you for being such a long time supporter, much appreciated!
@PBsRetroRestorations you're welcome my friend and thanks 😊
Nice restorations, details and paint jobs!!
Happy New Year
Thank you Joe, Have a happy new year too and thanks for being a such a long time viewer, much appreciated.
Great resto and congratulations on 2K PB! Cheers!
Thank you Mark, hope you're doing ok.
Yes rain rain my sons lives on the gold coast 😢 but ok at the moment 🙏🇦🇺
Yeah the Goldy was getting proper hammered when I took that footage, Mt. Tamborine is still without power in places, they said it destroyed some of the power infrastructure. Good time to be in generator sales.
@PBsRetroRestorations yeah got a few mates out that way Bucan and Tamborine scary times, 😨 😳 🍻🍻🍻👍🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺😊
Congratulations on 2K 😊
Thanks KC!
Happy new year PB
Thank you Steve, same to you!
Happy New Year to you and your family PB's ❤🍺🍻🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺😎✌👍
First Place KC! A happy and hopefully healthier year to you and CC too.
@PBsRetroRestorations absolutely 🥇 and thankyou let's hope the sun shines this year ✨️ 😊
Matchbox. Superfast. 59. Ford. Galaxie. /. Mercury. Fire. Chief
Thanks K-Boss! Have a Happy New Year!
Very nice pair of fire chiefs. Awesome work on the box too and congrats 2k subs! 😎👍🏻
Thank you Asko! I probably should have put up with the Galaxie carton, but in the hand it really was ordinary. Happy New Year!
both turned out amazing congrats on 2k
Thank you Neil!
lovely. :) I accumulated a handful of these, and the older galaxie, and the commuter, to maybe turn some of them into civilian. also, surely there must be some galery of the originals in their different liveries. :)
anyway, nice work, nice paintjob, and never fiddle with low-res stickers. :) too bad about that box, though. it's not like the cardboard and toner costs nothing, and the time, too...
side note, happy new year (though it's drenched wet), and congrats to 2000+ subscribers. :D
One my friends of the channel @aitchworld4620 has done the Galaxie in stock trim, it really does lend itself to it. The wheel arches on the Superfast version of the Mercury >kinda< ruin the stock appearance of it for me, but there's loads of potential for code 3's on them. The resolution on the print was ok, it was just the red component of the Galaxie stickers was never going to be close to the paint itself, and cutting them left a white edge where the scissors had torn the laserjet powder. Add to that me being a cheapskate (as usual) by using packing labels to print them on (miles too thick) they just looked awful. Now, if I could print in white, we'd be laughing. When I become a UA-cam bazillionaire, I'll buy one.
@@PBsRetroRestorations those conversions widened many a wheel arch beyond recognition... SIKU did the same when they switched from the plastic wheels cast onto the axles to their version of "superfast". some castings received such wide arches they look somethign different from the original car. makes one wish they had two or three more variants to them wheels in terms of wideness and diameter.
aw, I see what you mean. and adding a marker to the edges never work because the torn paper makes the colour look even more different.
yeah, you and me both. some other guy has a printer that was originally meant to screenprint a teeshirt. last time I dared to check it was 6500$... right, maybe once I win the doggamn foddermucking lottery. :P
Happy 2024 PB. Nice job as always and congrats on the subscriber milestone!
Thank you Scott, I must be doing something right lol. Happy New Year to you as well!
Happy 2K!
Lesney never got the paint the same either. Back then they probably mixed by weight and a change of supplier or a little less of this or more of that. I did a video about it a really long while back.
"Fred the Paint Guy"would be proud! Nice projects!
You're right, and unless you had an unrestored one next to it, you probably wouldn't really notice. I reckon the paint guy at the Bulgarian factory would be like "colour variations?, here Fred, hold my beer"
Excellent pair of restorations Peter, and congratulations on the 2k subs a community build would be fun .
All the best Martin
Thank you Martin! Well that decides it then! I can see it now "PB's 4th Anniversary Community Build' and I'll subtitle it 'Martin Dare Said It'd Be Fun' 🤣
Happy New Year, PB! Those are a fine pair of doughnut getters, you fixed up. Congrats on 2,000 followers. Well deserved..
Is it new year in Canada yet? Not sure of the time difference lol. Thank you Gerry.
Huzzah! 2k.......well deserved; keep 'em coming and that'll keep going up 👌🏻👏🏻👍🏻 Those are a nice couple of chiefy cars to start the year with.
I'm experimenting with some windscreen chip repair resin jollop for mending the 'glass'........ with mixed results to be fair. Sometimes it works a treat, sometimes not. It certainly never makes them any worse, so it's worth having a go.
Anyhoo, Happy New Year. Perhaps it'll stop raining over here too, one day 🌧️🌧️🌧️🌧️ I might just give up on the cars and build an Ark....
Thank You. I bought some clear UV Resin from Daiso a while back, and it didn't even occur to me to try that. I really am a dope some days. But when I try these things, they most definitely CAN and DO get worse lol. But you know, I suspect a substantial number of my viewership come for the stuff ups, so I'll be wrecking something with it very soon. Happy New Year, it's still raining here so I'll take a ticket on your Ark if you float down this way.
2K legend. Congrats. Happy New Year PB fam. Nice work as usual on 2 of the duplicated models. QLD wet one day, piss'n down the next. Ahh the serenity! Great Weather for ducks. Cheers brother. JV.
Thanks Johnny V and Happy New Year to you also. I've got the #5 Routemaster and Scaffold Truck you sent me in paint, now if the sun would just come out to dry them...........
finally caught up with your videos congrats on the now 2000+ subs well done with reviving the the fire chief's 👍👍👍
You must have spent all weekend on the couch Neil, thank you for putting yourself through all those videos, much appreciated I know how hard it is to stay on top of everyones videos, I struggle to do it myself.
Happy New Year Pete. Nice restoration. Hope to see you in the DMC tavern cheer Michael
Happy New Year Michael! I almost was awake enough to get to the Tavern, I will try to go to bed a bit earlier on Friday, I'm not much good in the mornings lol.
Congrats on 2k bro, nice custom work bro
Thank you so much 😃
Good job Peter & congrats on the hitting the 2k sub’s. 🎉
Thank You Mick! I finally found the Lime Green RS here in Australia, no Super though of course.
@@PBsRetroRestorations Nice one Peter glad you found it! There’s a new Mk1 Escort out now Yellow/Lime one part of a Walmart Only Easter set 🤷♂️
Happy new year, mate. We've had a fair bit of rain here in Townsville, too. I haven't been able to go out in my mobility scooter for a while now. Being electric, I can't get wet. Lol. 😅
Thank you Cathy! I suspect you've had it worse in T-ville, you guys up north always get it worse. The footpaths will be a slippery nightmare anyway, best to stay home and watch UA-cam lol. Stay safe and have a happy new year!
Hello happy new year thingy, and great restos, you can buy mercury glass from steve flowers, and I could buy you some glass, send It over, when order stuff, send you a odd car,and when you going to fix that Holden on your shelf ?
Thank you Mark. The problem with getting stuff from Steve Flowers is putting together enough of an order to justify the postage to Australia, last time I checked the 'combined shipping' rate wasn't brilliant. Perhaps that's a better idea Mark, will give it some thought. Ahh yes, the Holden Ruff Trek! I've had that sitting there to remind me to pull it apart to measure the bullbar / interior / rollbar piece for 3D printing. I also want to do it in a different colour scheme as I've already done the white one. I'll get to it soon, I guess when you DON'T see it there, you know it's happening 😊
I should also add I got a Corgi Impala chassis that I was told came from that supplier (see my Corgi Taxi Video) and to say it was unfit for purpose was the understatement of the year, kinda put me off, which is a shame.
@@PBsRetroRestorations Hello yes some stuff from, you know who, does not fit or work,I had a hutch figure, did It fit er no,and other pieces, let me search through my matchbox mercurys,I have quite a collection, and find you some glass,Im not fussed with repro,as for your holden, fond memories of finding a new one in the street,as a kid,in Brut livery, after shave ? No truck though 😀 Thanks for a nice reply.
Happy New year PB. Good to see you got your 2000 up. Can't wait to see what the price u r giveaway, hopefully it is not an autograph picture of Captain Australia, has he only has one fan. Lol. Cheers Graham.
Thanks Graham! That is absolutely the prize now, great idea! Finding him and getting him to sign something, that’ll be the real challenge.
@@PBsRetroRestorations he'll be lurking around on Australia day, for sure 😃
They both look awesome👍 where did you order the widow for the Galaxy Fire Chief from? I need to get one. Thanks
Thank you Joe. I got mine from RecoverToy: www.recovertoy.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=4184
He's on eBay as well if you prefer.
Dear PB, I have just started Matchbox restoration and for the life of me cannot find M2x4 Allen cap screws anywhere. I’m hoping you can help me with this dilemma.
Many thanks, AlanH. P.S. I live in Queensland.
G’day Alan, always ESPECIALLY happy to help a fellow Queenslander! I get mine from eBay (link below) I had to buy 3mm ones last time as they’d run out of 4mm, but they’ll still work, just less room to play with: www.ebay.com.au/itm/362751480291?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=zjIU82tFSKu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=Hso4VjAVSlq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Just checked, looks like they’ve got 4mm back in stock.
Thank you PB. I have now placed an order and am very grateful for your advice. Keep up the excellent resto’s. I was given over thirty hand painted Lesney toys in 1964 so I’ll see how I get on restoring them all these years later.
If you ever need any decals, I have some of them for a variety of Lesneys, happy to zap you files if you like to make your own, have got some spares of ones I've already done too. If you're in Brisbane, the Brisbane Model Diecast Collectors Club Fair's first event is Saturday 10th of February at Morningside, there's usually a fella there (Alan) who sells a variety of spare parts and stuff too.
@@PBsRetroRestorations Thanks again. I’ll be back in touch for sure.
