Brings back memories of driving my 65 Mercury with the windows down and WLS cranked up.
WLS-AM in Chicago was the greatest!!!! Listened to the Big 89 into it's final days as the Rock of Chicago.
Back when there was American cars on the road.
Man, you're cool !
I have a reissue of the single that I got in the late 70's and I agree with vinyl1965.. I just blows my socks off. It has so much 'body' to the sound that gets lost in digital form. Great great song!
The audio is indeed from the original 45 that is actually playing. I was recorded in real time right through the camcorder. No re-digitizing going on here. The camcorder does add some compression and limiting which you can hear on this video.
actually the opening part here sounds much more dynamic and fuller frequency that all the cd versions I have heard
45 RPM pure power.
Spent many a quarter playing this on the jukebox, over and over... :-)
The best song the Hollies ever did!
this was my mother's favorite song, and today marks 33 yrs since she passed away, thanks for the post. R.I.P mom
this will sing on my technics TONIGHT!
The clean guitars in the beginning sounded like there were recorded yesterday.
Though it fell short in Billboard, this did make #1 on both the Cash Box Top 100 and Record World Singles Chart. By contrast, it was a relative failure in the UK - #30 on the "official" singles chart, #32 in NME, did not make Melody Maker's chart.
GOLDEN
u got the best videos man !!
Sounds really good. Cool!!
Love this song $$$$$
They used this in the newest Baseball movie (Curves) with Clint Eastwood....Great Song !!
This song is for my friend Katie, I miss her
Whoo. Sounds so good.
People comment that this song is Epic which is strange because the original was issued on Parlophone. Parlophone was part of EMI which , in USA, was Capitol, so how Epic (CBS) got their hands on it is anybody's guess.
Love this channel, almost makes me wanna dig my parents attic and plug their old player, and rummage through their singles.
This one is for Katie,, hope your listening in heaven, we miss u soooooo much!!!
This song if for 2 of my good friends, Patsy n Katie, love u ladies!!
Y Quien No se Vuelve Rocanrolero Despues de Esto!!! La Idea Musical
I HAVE HEARD AND READ THAT JOHN FOGERTY SUED THE HOLLIES OVER THIS SONG CAUSE IT SOUNDED TO MUCH LIKE CCR THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A TRIP TO HAVE HEARD JOHN PLAYED WITH ALLAN AND THE GUYS
Yeah and you know what? Only sounds perfect on vinyl. :) That crackling of the vinyl is perfect with this song
Vinyl reigns supreme when it comes to sound quality ,so much oomph
Queeeeeee sonidaaazo tiene este disco - no hay como lo original.
This is soo cool, this was my fav song growing up!! ty
Actually, it's welcome back to all my loyal subscribers like yourself, burrexkeefers!
A fine song, which reached a very disappointing No.32 in The UK in September 1972.
I used to hear this song on local radio every night, around 9 pm.... but, I loved hearing it!!!
CCR
That's one epic recording.
Thank you....
This is my 2nd favorite song with a title that begins with the word "Long" that was a hit by the Hollies in the 1970s. My favorite is "Long Dark Road".
Hello Mr/MRS/MS WABCRADIO77, You have a wonderful collection and the sound quality is GREAT to boot ! :) keep up the good work sir.
💞🎸‼️
📀💯😎
1971
this was my first 45. and bought with allowance money.
awesome song... and GREAT channel!
Spencer, thanks for posting my all time favorite song again! WELCOME BACK!!!
kicks ass on cd's, so glad i still have hundreds of "coasters" ! thanks for posting
Spence, I know you advocate the original mono 45s, but I think I hear three guitars on this mix -- left, center and right. There's definitely a stereo echo.
Is it just me, or does anyone else not understand a word of what he's singing? LOL
There is no mono 45 of this one.
That's lead singer Allan Clarke sounding like Creedence Clearwater Revival(CCR)singer John Fogerty
@@tracemontgomery5459 Mono 45 exist ua-cam.com/video/RqMHfLMEY68/v-deo.html
A big difference with the spotify version. (I'm born in 1995)
Google this songs lyrics. You'll see how wrong you were when you sing along with it. Interesting lyrics, though. "She was a long cool woman in a black dress/just a 5-9 beautiful tall/with just one look I was a bad mess/'cus that long cool woman had it all." 8-21-2018
Still have this 45! Song came out about same time as the movie "Nicholas & Alexandra" & thought the two were connected somehow--thought line in lyrics was "heard someone shootin the Czar." Also came out right before the 72 Olympics & famous Olga Korbut gymist.
Smoking track...thanks for the upload.
First time I heard this was when I was going through 35K school Ft. Gordan Ga. 1972
My No 1 favorite good luck song !!! thanks so much, loved hearing this on the radio, and when I did, something always good happened !!
Great song that sounds like "Green River" by Creedence Clearwater Revival.
I love this music from the past I think we should keep it going have a lot of radio stations play it.it might not be records but no matter the technogolgy is it should be played.
Love the added compression on the 45! The intro and break are huge because of this...
That case is right this song is EPIC!!!!!!!!
0-0 BRO could not come at a better time! tyvm! u rock!
hey when will be the next video you guys upload?
My favorite song of all time. Thank you.
one of the first songs I remember hearing on a.m. top 40 radio
A melhor de todas que já ouvi é simplemente envolvente , a maior nota do mundo .

This was their highest charted hit #2 they never had a #1 hit
In the UK, this song reached No.32 in 1972.
The Hollies had 2 UK No.1s - I'm Alive (1965) and a re issue of He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother (1988).
Wtzy,s stopping by
0:12 says it all!
Mine, too!
The Hollies left Imperial for Epic in mid 1967.
marie Hiam thank you I was wondering when the Hollies left Imperial for Epic
it said 72, on record.......
I believe "Carrie Anne" was their first on Epic.Either that or "on a Carousel"
my first 45 was this very record. awesome.
I still have my own copy of this .45 - somewhere in the house..... Stones and Doors were my first .45's, though I distinctly remember getting LCW at Tower Records in Sacramento in Summer of '72, a few weeks after it was released.
better times in many respects. fond memories.
Absolutely no question about that; we definitely are the Rock and Roll Generation. Like I alluded to before, Jumpin' Jack Flash and Hello, I Love You were my first 2 .45's back then; before I had gotten 2 original Beatles LP's (Rubber Soul and the green one) for my 5th or 6th birthday. After those .45's is when I really started getting more and more into Rock and music in general.
