My wife and I married in January 1975. Endless wonderful songs from country and pop. I could not pick a top 10 because of so many great songs. Wonderful year, wish we could go back there.
Captain and Tennile were a huge hit on both sides of the Atlantic and I have lovely happy memories of a teen summer with that blasting out of summer radios. But looking back Bowie was way ahead of the curve looking like something out of the 80s or 90s or even 2000s and present day. Always loved Bowie. I think the Eagles also stand the test of time too.
The seventies was quite possibly the best decade in history! So many good memories. Good times and great music. I’m sure Randy Bachman, Burton Cummings and Turner should be on this list!
I turned 17 in '75. Fell in love for the first time and had my heart broken the first time. These songs were all a part of that time in my memories. Met my wife of 47 years the next year.
The 70st was the best decade for every genre, pop, country, but ( what was then called Heavy Metal) was at it's peak, middle of the road ballads,it couldn't then and still can't be topped.
Born in 70 I remember hearing these songs being played in our kitchen on moms radio. Glen Campbell's Rhinestone Cowboy and Captain and Tennille wow! R.I.P. Mom!
Here's a fun fact for ya, look on the credits of Pink Floyd's album The Wall and you'll see no other than Toni Tennille listed as a backup singer, and yes, it's her not just someone with the same name, if you watch the credits at the end of the movie she's listed in those also. Here's a funny story she told in an interview; David Gilmore made sure she had a couple tickets for one of the LA concerts, while in her seat waiting for the show to start she noticed a 15 year old boy in a seat in front of her kept turning around and looking at her, finally he ask her "What are YOU doing here?", as if it was ruining his teenager rock n roll rebel experience having "Mrs Squeaky Clean Love Will Keep Us Together" sitting behind him during his Pink Floyd concert. She answered him with "Well young man, if you look at the credits on the album you'll see that I sang on it". The kid had come with another 15 year old who was busy in the wings trying to get back stage with an album he had hoping to get the members of Pink Floyd to sign it but no matter how hard he begged security wouldn't let him back there, while still trying a very excited friend of his came running up to him explaining "You're never gonna believe who's sitting right behind us and...". Upon hearing the story they opened the album and looked at the credits and sure enough, written right there in front of them was the name Toni Tennille. They couldn't have got to their seats any faster complete with album and pen in hand asking her to sign it for them, making them even to this day the only people in the world to have a Pink Floyd The Wall album signed by Toni Tennille.

It’s hard to compare any other song to One Of These Nights by the Eagles! It’s a forever classic. In soul music I would say “The Way Of The World” was equally unbeatable! In fact in my opinion that Earth Wind & Fire song is even more timeless and hauntingly - emotionally powerful. Chills!!! Good chills. Maybe with a tear welling up knowing the suffering of blacks in slavery and even Elvis’s song “In The Ghetto” of 1970’s Chicago.

@@larrycj4382 I tried to respond to first comment, but it wouldn't take. Anyway, I thought that (Hey, Won't You You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song) was the full name. A friend of mine and I were sharing a strawberry soda pop just before two pretty girls from school came up to talk to us. I've been practicing it on the guitar lately, trying to play it just as it's played in the original. @stevelee6174 And Sister Golden Hair
My wife and I married in January 1975. Endless wonderful songs from country and pop. I could not pick a top 10 because of so many great songs. Wonderful year, wish we could go back there.
We were married 1980, divorced 12 years ago. Still miss her.
My wife and I married in October 1975... still together almost 50 years later!
Great songs. The 70's rule.
In my opinion, the 70s were the best 💯
Same here.
I think you mean Bachman Turner Overdrive. Cummings was the lead singer of The Guess Who.
Freddy fender i was young but always remember my folks listening to him
My Father absolutely loved Freddy's music and every time he was on TV, Daddy watched and we all had to be quiet, even mama, lol
Killer Queen is always a favorite! I graduated from high school in 1975!! 👍🏼
Me too and I agree😊
Dream Weaver just wow
It was released in December 1975 and became a big hit in 1976.
Yes! Saw Eddie Money w/Foghat in 70's🤩
Graduated high school in 1975. "High and alive in '75" was our motto. Turned 18 in November. Was a good year.
I was 14 at that time and boy was life much simpler then. Oh to go back to those days. Minnie and John Denver. Thanks for the travel back in time
Kashmir and someone saved my life tonight were two of my 1975 favs.
Class of 75. Awesome music
Me too
Earth Wind & Fire great then and now.
@@affleberryfondue5288 ....and still the biggest selling black group of all time, would you believe!!
REASONS, EWF timeless!
Two of my favorite songs of 1975 were "Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac and "Lyin' Eyes" by The Eagles.
Born in 70 I remember hearing these songs being played in our kitchen on moms radio. Glen Campbell's Rhinestone Cowboy and Captain and Tennille wow! R.I.P. Mom!
Continued BLESSINGS And To GOD Be The GLORY 🙌🏽 💖 🙏🏽
Here's a fun fact for ya, look on the credits of Pink Floyd's album The Wall and you'll see no other than Toni Tennille listed as a backup singer, and yes, it's her not just someone with the same name, if you watch the credits at the end of the movie she's listed in those also.
Here's a funny story she told in an interview;
David Gilmore made sure she had a couple tickets for one of the LA concerts, while in her seat waiting for the show to start she noticed a 15 year old boy in a seat in front of her kept turning around and looking at her, finally he ask her "What are YOU doing here?", as if it was ruining his teenager rock n roll rebel experience having "Mrs Squeaky Clean Love Will Keep Us Together" sitting behind him during his Pink Floyd concert.
Oh man 1975 or the 70's was when we had the absolute best most innovative music creations of all time. What time it was!!
Class of ‘75 here! A few more for your list! Led Zeppelin “Kashmir” Aerosmith “Walk This Way” Barry Manilow “Mandy”. Good music good times ✌🏼☮️
Tryin' to Get the Feeling Again....
Olivia had such a calming voice. 💖
I could go back to 1975 for the music and nothing else.
i would buy Walmart shares fior 1 cent a share. Now $86. Actually i would go back for the babes, the music, and hey, i'd me in my 30's again. how great is that?
KC and the Sunshine Band with three great hits in 75 . Boogie Shoes , That's the way I like it and Get Down Tonight
Agree. Love KC & TSB. But Boogie Shoes wasn't a hit until it was included on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack in '77.
Yeah I remember my.little pale green and stainless steel transistor radio!
Saw KC and the Sunshine Band at Six Flags Over Texas back then. Such fun.
Born in 1962 the 70s were the best times all great music on the radio would give anything to go back the kids today don't have a clue how great it was we were so lucky to live that time in life
Philadelphia Freedom is STILL one of my favorite songs of all-time!!! But what happened to, "Jive Talkin", by the Bee Gees?
“Afternoon Delight” is a great song. My favorite from 1976.
I love all these songs
My favorite is Elton John, Philadelphia Freedom
@@rapunzelrose68 mine as well ,Elton made history that year in so many ways ,it hasn't been matched since, even The Beatles nor Elvis could and couldn't match some of the achievements done by Elton
Mine too 😊
Didn't "Island Girl" also come out in '75?
ME TOO! I turned 13 in 1975 and Philadelphia Freedom was my first "favorite song." Later it was Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.
@@lisalu910 nah, never changed for me it,s always been Philadelphia freedom first, no other song ,Elton or otherwise comes close
I’m 68 remember these songs very well!
I was 13 years old and had a stack of 45's I would play over and over when not listening to Casey kasem.
Same here! I turned 13 that year and discovered Elton John (among others) and played Philadelphia Freedom until I about wore out my 45!
@@lisalu910 Loved Elton John, I remember all his new releases listening to Casey.
We had such diverse music genres that were all great songs real instruments and harmonies. I was born in 67
“Fame” is still an amazing groove.
I remember those days. It was a time when fans of soul music had a favorite country/country/country rock song, and fans of country/rock/country rock had a favorite soul song.
Couldn't agree with you more.
Exactly... there wasn't the level of cultural divide. And there were people like John Denver who just had a kind of charm everybody could dig. Granted... I was 6, but I remember all but 2 of these.
@josephbenson6301 I agree. I was 19 in 1975 and when I tell people of today what the 1970's were like, that we all got along, black & white and it was our music that we had in common and it brought us together, they don't believe me.
@@debbiescott6732 We all got along 😂. You have selective memory. Racism was alive and well in the 70's, just like today.
@rgrndu it was Nothing like today.
I'm not in love by 10 cc, Dream weaver by Gary Wright and Le Sud by Nino Ferrer are my top tree favourites for 1975.
70s to 80s songs is the Golden Age of Music i was born in 1966.
I was a dj in wales Uk in 1975 and then songs bring back so many memories now at the age of 67 living in Australia I feel privileged to have had the experience memories and honour to have presented many of these songs to so many
I graduated in '75. The summer of '78 had THE BEST music in years. Piano Man, Bat Out of Hell.
Graduated in 1975 man i feel old.
Awww, honey, we are old. 😉
I Graduated in 71,,,Dont feel so bad

I have all the above albums. Music was my lifeline😊
I miss them good old 70s was a different time then
Wow, brings back so many memories. Seems like a whole different world back then. I was 10 years old. How it can be almost 50 years ago is beyond me. So much good music from the 70s/80s. I think the Hollies had the "Air that I breathe" song out then too. We thought we were living large when we got an extra long CORD installed on our WALL PHONE. LOL
Fly Robin Fly, up up to the sky!!!! Silver Convention!!!
I was 8 years old and I still look for these golden oldies. 70’s and 80’s was when the best music was made. The nostalgia!
I was born in 1963 and was 12 in 1975 and God how I wish I could go back to that time.
Grad in ‘75. Of this list, I saw Earth, Wind, & Fire; David Bowie; and Minnie Riperton in concert-all absolutely fantastic! Back then, you could get a ticket for under $10. Needless to say, they don’t make music like this anymore! ~Cathy
Fox On The Run by Sweet and 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover by Paul Simon were big songs as well. Heard them daily on the school bus. 😉
"50" was a hit in 1976.
@@larrycj4382 Thank you for the technical info. It was still released in 1975.
@@darcagis5744 "50 Ways" was released in December 1975 and hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1976. It's on the Billboard list for Top Hits of 1976.
I was around 9 yo and just discovering music! Spent the 80's rocking out. 😎
The Eagles... so many memories
Philadelphia Freedom always got me up dancing! But these are all great!!!!!!
Laughter in the rain by Neil Sedaka was my song in 75 🎶🎶
1974.
I was 15...it was a perfect time to be a teenager! We had by far the BEST music!
Great songs and a great time to be alive. I thank God for letting me grow up in the 70s.
I saw Olivia Newton John before she was really famous. She played at the Allentown fair in PA. She sang country music then and was the opening act for Charlie Rich. I was a fan from that point on.
WOW, you were so lucky!
I remember all these songs and I still love them today. Too bad the new generation discovered the songs. Thank you for this.
I remember hearing The Hustle for the first time, during the 1975 NBA championship game between the Golden State Warriors and the Washington Bullets.
My favorite song for 1975 was “S.O.S.” by ABBA
Two others close by to me were:
“Take it to the Limit”-Eagles
And
“50 Ways to Leave Your Love”-Paul Simon
I graduated in 1975 from Jordan high school in long beach, I remember all these songs, what a time it was, not like today.😢
Not just 1976, BUT the whole decade , love ❤ the 70'S music 👍
"Kashmir", "Born to Run", "Nights on Broadway, "Low Rider"... So many iconic songs.
All Great but favorite is Always "One of these nights" by the Eagles 😍👍
4 yrs after graduation, blast from the past.
Danced about half lit to a lot of these but not to often. Was married and had a son so responseabilities weight heavy then
PAUL MCARTNEY. "LISTEN TO WHAT THE MAN SAYS!!" PURE GOLD!! SOLID
70’s music is my favorite! Thank you.
Thank you so much for your support!
Lots of favorites from '75...seemed like Jackie Blue by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils was always on the radio.
Fallin' in Love ❤️, by Hamilton Joe Frank & Reynolds. My #1 👌
They released another song from that same album later that year called Winners And Losers - remember that one? I myself liked it much better than I did Fallin' In Love.
Feelings,Nights on Broadway,Mamma Mia,Only Yesterday,Rock'n Roll all nite,Bohemian Rhapsody etc..
Soundtrack of my junior high years. Love it.❤
I graduated in 1980. I was blessed to have lived my youth in the 70's music and start adulthood to the 80's rock era 😊.
I graduated in 1975 ❤. What great memories!
I grew up listening and learning how to speak and dance in the late 70s. How I do missed those days. Unremarkable ❤always 'll keep them in my heart. Love keep us together. Love it.
I Love 💕 and miss my 70’s!! Great time being a teen. Graduated 77. The music can’t be matched.
Oh when music was music...what a nostalgic video to watch thank you. The Carpenters remind me of the 70s
I was 9 and these songs remind me of "snow days"- off from school, nothing to do, and listening to AM radio.
Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song, was a catchy tune by BJ Thomas.
It hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. For awhile it had the record for the longest title of a #1 song: "(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song".
@@larrycj4382 I thought that was the whole title, but daveinprogress3 left off the 'Hey Won't You Play'.
I'll never trust Googling, again. 😭
@@FloydHamel The song that broke BJ's record for longest song title at #1 was the #1 song by Stars on 45. Most people know it as a medley of Beatles songs, but in the US & Canada because of copyright issues, ALL the song titles had to be listed in the title!
@@larrycj4382 I tried to respond to first comment, but it wouldn't take.
Anyway, I thought that (Hey, Won't You You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song) was the full name. But, when I googled it the first part was left off. I've seen that done before. I've always liked the long title. Great song.
It came out when I was in my mid-teens. A friend of mine and I were sharing a strawberry soda pop just before two pretty girls from school came up to talk to us.
I've been practicing it on the guitar lately, trying to play it just as it's played in the original. It's played in key of E, but with a capo on the 4th fret, using key of C fingering, as best I can tell.
I'm not sure what you meant by, "Most people know it as a medley of Beatles songs".
Love The Beatles, too!
@@FloydHamel I was referring to the #1 song known as "Medley" by Stars on 45. It broke the record for the longest title to hit #1 which BJ had with "Somebody...
"Medley's" actual title in the US is all the song titles in the medley.
