    you obviously do the hedland first with a butterfly or in this case a BIG-M, but if you are mowing with one mower you do the headland last because otherwise you would be driving in the swath. fun fact, ive actually driven a krone Big M in real life :) it was awesom! keep up the good work and effor dagger, wish you the best of luck in your future videos! :)

    To answer a few of you're questions. With the big m, it's fine for just the one headland cut. It all depends on the mower, a small rear mounted mower conditioner may need two or three.
    It is good practice to put sheep directly on a collected field, they clean it up around the edge. In real life it is essential on grassland to collect all that you mow, I know in the game it is not important. In real life if you leave some on the field it doesn't rot well and will still be there on the next cut. I have driven over some in two wheel drive 12 months after it was cut, it had not rotted at all and was like slurry sat on the surface, very slippy. Love the vids dagger.

    I'm a farmer in New Zealand and when it comes down to mowing it is really personal preference because if you mow headlands first that's where all the weeds grow so you wouldn't won't to mow that and bring the seeds into the middle of your field. But that's just what I think🙂😊

  • @Evan-ef7tk
    @Evan-ef7tk 8 років тому +1

    All the people in the comments arguing about how you cut grass. It's just a game, he does what he can to be realistic, give him a break if he doesn't do everything perfectly, nobody does.

    I work on a farm and the way I have been taught is that you do the headlands at least once or twice then go up and down or side to side depending on the size and shape of the field.

    I've driven a mower for silage. The ones we had was attached to the front and back of a tractor that extended out to the right. It is a very easy job like you said. Just have to make 2 or 3 lines around the edges and then straight and nice lines for the pickup machine or harvester. We used the grass silage for dairy cattle though.

    Daggerwin, When mowing you leave a mowers width in the edge of the field and after doing the middle of the feild you do that outside headland. the reason you do this is so that say if there was big stone in the outside of the feild and you mow over it first it breaks the mower, which is why you do it last so if it breaks you've mine the feild

  • @bluenick5390

    Hi Daggerwin,
    We always cut the headland first, normally 6 or 7 times around clockwise depending on the size of the mower, before doing one back-swathe anti-clockwise and then do the up and down last.
    Do the same when tedding too, between 2 or 4 times and then straight up and down the middle.Only when rowing up do we do the headland last so you don't drive over the row.
    Hope that helps :)

    If you set the Big M to swath mode, you dont do the headlands first because then you drive over your swaths all the time. But if you spread the grass, you can do the headlands first.

    Hey just a heads up with soil mod that grass will disappear tomorrow and I notice it's almost 17:00 so you have to do it before your soil mod updates. I learned this the hard way I mowed 3 feilds got the forage harvester ready and trailers ready skipped thru the night came back to field and ended up getting 4 trailer fulls off 3 feilds I was pissed to say he least

    daggerwin do not do the headland close to the hedge, leave one mower length away from the hedge because there could be rocks in the hedge that might have been doing from the hedge and you could damage your mower. that's what I do

    hi daggerwin I'm a farmer myself and I always leave the headland until the end because a few years ago I hit a massive rock beside a hedge when doing the headland first and it cost me hundreds of euro to repair it but of course in fs there aren't any massive rocks that will destroy your mower and after that I always leave the headland until last when cutting silage, hay, whole crop or something so if you hit something at least your nearly finished.

      Nope, its the same as a rear mower, mower to the left side of the tractor and drive with the tractors most as possible to the outside of the field. Then mow the whole field and at last the outside where you have driven the first time around, ( Or after 2-3 times around and then the outside of the field, its just what you want.
