The best Dalek story in the revived series since Christopher Ecclestone's "Dalek", both utterly classic episodes.

In the very beginning of the episode, when the Doctor receives the hypercube with the Corsairs signature tattoo marked on it, he tells Rory and Amy "The Corsair got that tattoo on each of his regenerations, he just didn't feel like himself without it, or herself a couple of times."
Daleks have been scaring kids for 50 years. Brilliant! :)

p.s. If you want, try episodes like The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances (two-parter), The Girl in the Fireplace, Gridlock (good example of series 1-4), The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon (good example of Moffat's writing and series 5-6). Pick one (or more?) if you want to give it a shot.
You may have just come across an episode that's not representative or not directed at new viewers.
Other people: Yes, I DIDN'T include Blink. It's good on its own but doesn't represent the show as well.
I am a man, and I can connect with this character in a number of ways and have connected with him since the 70s. The character just IS a man, ok, jesus. Why are you guys so offended by this, since i posted the comment, nobody will leave it be.

Actually they can, he mentioned specifically that the Corsair had several female regenerations. It seems a bit odd that with a 50/50 chance every regeneration (assuming those odds) that none of his regenerations has been female.

True story ....
Well, River did give the Doctor her regenerations, so it could certainly be justified in that sense. However, the Doctor would kind of lose his impact as a subversion of masculine ideals if he was female, so that's an issue. That's not to say it couldn't be done well; it probably could, but it would take some rethinking of the character, and at that point they might as well just make a Jenny spinoff instead.

I don't have much if any hope for this episode really. Not to be overly pessimistic but there hasn't been a genuinely great Dalek story since the season 1 finale, and a one part story that sounds like a combination of Genesis of the Daleks and Destiny of the Daleks probably won't do a lot to switch the trend. I kind of wish Terry Nation was immortal.
I understand what you're saying, when I first saw Doctor Who it was a few of the very first 2005 episodes, which in retrospect aren't that good IMHO (the show was still forming its identity. CE was fantastic though). I thought it was nice but never saw another episode until 2011.
But that first impression wore off. This show is full of change, from one kind of good to another. Give it another shot maybe? If you saw this clip you're probably a fan, not a "hater".

I don't know, the first episode I saw is my least favorite, but when I gave it another chance, I liked it a lot better. I think you could have any first impression and end up liking it. Or have any first impression and end up hating it, for that matter.
But if the shows not your cup of tea, it's not your cup of tea. But I don't find it necessary to post rude things on videos pertaining to the show. These things are relatively easy to avoid.

Nah, I'm talking about the rebooted series. And I don't see how that would change anything. He would just go from being a madman to a madwoman. I remember thinking that Marry Poppins was a female Doctor when I first saw it as a kid.

Frankly, if you're going to judge anything on one singular episode then you've given up your right to express an opinion. It's not for everyone, but calling something a bad show as if it's fact and then using one singular episode as your argument is incredibly silly.
