Really for the semi final they should have removed the gauntlet and trial stage. These robots have proven they can do them, so what's the point in eliminating two of them by the same method again? Getting rid of these things for the later series was a way better format. They're just too easy to rig for certain robots, just look at all the times certain robots cleared the gauntlet with no issues whilst others got caught immediately by the house robots.
Only Panic Attack actually seemed to be trying to score points in the trial. All of the others seemed to be spending more time deciding what to do rather than just smashing down some blocks.
There always seemed to be a bit of an initial grace period before the house robots properly dig in, napalm just got on with it. Wasn't always obvious from the editing as if a robot was messing about at the start they often edited much of that out which made it looked like they were really picked on. Same in the trial but there they didn't get in with it, only panic attack really did for that one.
Is it just me or would Mace have benefitted more if they chose the right hand lane? Sentinel made the left hand lane virtually impossible with the reach it had.
The Sentinel made it basically impossible for Mace to win, there was just no way of getting past and no openings were really given to let Mace even have a possibility to get past it. The win was Panic Attack's before activate was even called.

At the start of the Panic Attack fight you can tell that Rob Knights not happy. Its interesting how they didn't interview them after the pinball though, I guess they were worried he'd bring up the Pinball controversy.
@@awordabout...3061 No, we're talking about the fact that the run that was shown was actually the SECOND run Mortis did at pinball. During the original (non-televised) run, one of Mortis' tracks got damaged leading to them not scoring any points. However, at least one of the producers insisted that Mortis have a do-over, leading to Rob Knight having a row with the producers and ultimately leading to Rob refusing to control Mortis for the remainder of their run. So the controversy is Mortis should have been the one eliminated instead of Napalm, but pro-Mortis favoritism amongst the production team won the day.
@@KingCanada Interesting how you put that. I read it as the fact that the spikes should not have been active and , as that is what caused the damage, they were allowed a second run.
Big respect to Rob Knight though. He can be a cocky so-and-so, but ultimately he plays fair. He didn't want to get a second go simply because the presenters liked their machine!
Should definitely not have had a gauntlet and trials stage for the semi-finals, instead focus on having them fight. That race between Panic Attack and Mace looked incredibly rigged against Mace because the Sentinel just wasn't giving them any chance to get past, so there was no way at all that they would be able to win. A very decent line up for this semi-final in terms of robots, though. Panic Attack, Killertron, Mortis, Behemoth, all very good robots. Love seeing Killertron doing well in these early series, it's probably my favourite from series 1 & 2. Not sure why, I just find it a decent looking robot with a decent weapon for these early series, and the team is nice too. Panic Attack did very well against Mortis, and Killertron beating Behemoth is impressive too, very good damage from the pickaxe and a good robot in these early series like I said.
@@joeandrews7329 Indeed they did. Revenge for them taking out Chaos in the heat though! I joke, they were a very nice team with a good robot for series 2.
Totally agree, for the semi-finals it should have been pure fighting in the arena, not eliminating teams again using the gauntlet and trials. So glad they got rid of these for series 3 onwards.
@@joeandrews7329 I quite like series 4 & 5, though the extremes are really good too. I also have a soft spot for series 3 as well, it's the first of the great series with the revamped arena and rules, and the appearances of some of the greats like Chaos 2 and Hypno-Disc.

What is this bullshit with House Robots literally blocking the seasaw??? It's happened more than once, it's incredibly annoying.

I think they chose to take on the sentinel because they had already tried the seesaw (with Shunt) and failed

I absolutely love the Pinball trial. I like the series 3 and 4 version best with the multi ball release and car doors.

Granted, it was brand new at this time. They didn't bother improving it in series 3 and only really painted it black for Extreme.
