You are very lucky you got into this Dhamma path at this young age and you have enough time to scale up and become liberated. God bless you. Hi there Sharol. Nice video. I have been bathing in your happiness and enthusiasm for 20 minutes. I was surprised that you mentioned chanting before breakfast. I hadn`t heard that before with the Goenka courses. And what you have said here about the anapanasati and vipassana time division makes total sense. This part actually really helps me see how the long courses work. I`m booked for a 10 day with them in December and feel super blessed to have the opportunity. I`m not new to practice but have recently felt a very strong urge to commit more deeply. I`m a little nervous that I won`t be allowed to bring headache tablets with me as I can get a problem with headaches. It is easy to say that I will simply be observing them for the 10 days. Thank you for being honest about wanting to leave. This dark night of the soul is surely normal when you try to tame such a monster. May you be happy. May you have peace.
You are very kind @thekarmafarmer608. The practice really is a gift and we sure are blessed to have the opportunity to to sit/serve courses. If you are feeling nervous about headache tablets it may be an idea to bring some and hand it to management - just in case you. The center I've served at usually always have some - you just need to chat to the teacher beforehand. I hope this helps and may you have the most fruitful course. With metta

How it feels ! By doing 20 days of silence meditation, I have done 1 10 days Vipassana course in july 2023 at dhamma bodhi. And 2nd time i will go in January 2024. I also want to experience this one. But i have dought that for continuous 2 years you have to morning and evening Vipassana meditation this the 1st condition. Condition 2 that you have to follow five sila. I did my Vipassana Meditation in December 2020 - 10 day course! Im as curious as you daaamn! I wanted to take my diary and write.. I wanted to take my crystal. Both weren't allowed. Im excited to do the 20 day practice.. They've made the vax compulsory which is something im not for.
I understand your disappointment. Do keep an eye out for other centres as each centre trust can make a different decision provided they are not in conflict with government regulations of course. Otherwise you could contact your local teacher and do a self course with their guidance and metta. 🙏😃
You did the course of paramita Yana of therawad tradition ....now go to any mahayana vajrayana Bihar or gumba and get initiated ...it is most powerful and there are many method of vipasna in a gradual process which is not found in paramita Yana..you can be aarrath from paramita Yana but you will become samek Sam bhuddda from vajrayana....it include direct transmission from the liniage of bhodisawta ...it also include highest form of tantra ......it is a faster process than paramita Yana and include observation of pravaswor chitta..

Hey, which center did you go to if I may ask? I'm in South Africa and it seems the only center is in Worcester, Western Cape. I would like to do the 10 day course in December.
Hi there, it's wonderful you are looking to do a 10-day. In SA there is one center 'Dhamma Patākā' and 2 non centers. You can find more information here: www.dhamma.org/en-US/locations/directory#pataka

I'd encourage you to do the Satipatthana course, which is an 8-day course where you get a little book to study as you are practicing. While this is not at the control of the Vipassana meditation center...still the whole experience was not what I expect. There are other meditation ways that do not involve pain and do not require for you to change your believes nor try to indoctrinate you. simple meditation will one way or another open your mind and your awareness...and spiritual growth as we live life. I think that people does not need to go on so many days to retreats. I love health retreats that also involve some quiet and solitude moments and engagement with nature and healthy food.
