Honestly, you guys, at the risk of sounding so corny, I love these videos. It has been an early, unseasonably cold and grey winter in northwestern Michigan - and your videos are inspiring me tremendously. THANK YOU, ALEX - for reminding me to use everything I have. My grandmother taught me that decades ago, and so I just dug her old china out of the basement to mix with my collections. Colorful! She was much more contemporary in the 1950's than I am now, and it looks great together. I'm retired now, living on a fixed income - but I went out in the yard and cut greens from the pines and red berries from the Hawthorn tree to decorate the table...I am going to start entertaining again for the first time in 30-40 years. Keep them coming, please!
This is one of my favorite Quintessence videos I keep in my rotation.-especially after a stressful workday. Alex Papachristidis exudes style and sensibility and is always a joy to watch. TY!
More more more with Alex! Viewed his lecture at Hillwood a hundred times. Longer episodes please! And much more setting the table episodes. It´s Christmas after all.
Another great visit! He always seems so pleasant and personable and I appreciate the fact he says to use your good things. Far too many don't enjoy their favorite items which is such a waste, if not you then who? Thank you for taking us along for the fun!
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode! Blue and white is my favorite color combination for dining and, Alex has a beautiful collection of blue and white pieces. The way he combines them with brown is lovely. Romancing everyday items and tasks is a wonderful philosophy.
Such a beautiful soul pours out everything that reveals the beauty of his inner most reflections, I love the way he expresses beauty through all shades of blues and not to forget those flowers - oh so heavenly 👼 and lovely 💖
When I recently moved, I realized my new digs wouldn't have the storage space for both my everyday china and good china. I got rid of the everyday ones. No regrets!
And here we are again with this lovely man and his lovely house and his lovely things. I could spend days, literally, just roaming around, admiring it all. Amazing taste. So soul-satisfying.
Totally agree and this is our third video with Alex - you can check out our Setting the Table with him in NYC and our At Home With video with him at this same house in the Hamptons! Thanks for watching!
LOVE the "look book" concept. I have a loose "portfolio" of some of the table settings I've created. A great idea, so one doesn't forget what ones has! Mr. Papchristidis, you have a lovely home!
Another great edition! I love everything! The home is so well appointed. Besides the table settings, I was also looking at and loving the candle holders, cache pots, gueridon table, etc.! And, what a beautiful guest room you stayed in. All so lovely!
He gave me ideas for the China I inherited, mix and match! I really love his table setting and his house, I’m going to look for some delfts blauw, got inspired .
Love everything Mr. Papachristidis does. He is a magician, turns everything he does into something magic ! Thank you so much for posting this. Would absolutely love to see his house at Christmas . So good to see darling Teddy again . Blessings and Peace to all !🙏🏻🎄
Loving the cobalt blue dishes in particular, despite all of the other blue and white. I just have a soft spot for all things cobalt (like my kitchen backsplash).
I just saw this video even though it's a year old. I was looking 4 videos that you made. I love this video. I have to say, I love Alex's collection because I have a similar collection and it's slowly getting bigger and bigger with joy. I also use my collection. I'm happy to see another person that likes the same thing I do. Thank you Alex and thank you Quintessence
I keep this video in my rotation and in 2022, I’m still taking tips from it. Alex has such great advice for those starting out. I, too, hadn’t looked at salt and peppers as a table accessory but I do now and added a couple of quail and bird sets to go with my botanical and chinoiserie dishes. LOVE these videos!
Bonjour Ladies ! Wow, that, to me, is a Quintessence Christmas gift : a new video featuring my fav. decorator. Why ? Because he loves dishes and I think he is the one that set the most gorgeous tables ! This afternoon, I went to a flee market and I came around fantastic bleu glasses ; although I am starting to have not enough space to store all my dishes collection, I bought them ; I am so glad that I did, especially after looking at Alex's beautiful table setting ! Anyway, a great day at the flee market ending with my fav. You Tube channel presentation !! Thank you for this gift and, to you dear ladies, I am sending my best wishes from Québec city - Canada, for a very Merry Christmas, a successful and Happy New Year 2019 ! - Rosalind-
Love this one! That guest room is exquisite! I purchased Thomas O'Brien's Library House after watching the last video you posted. Have loved reading about Alex's extended family. ❤️
My goodness! Everything is amazing. So many details and all the blue and white dishes. Who is this person ? Looks like he’s very wealthy. Anyway, I just created a beaut setting in blue and white Onion Hutschenreuther.
What a lovely early Christmas present! I admire Alex's style and collections so much and that he uses everything all the time is wonderful ... I myself used some terrific Crown Derby this afternoon for a salami sandwich, no joke! Great and inspiring video...loved every minute !! xo W
will mac Thank you Will!!! And always look forward to your comments - I’m sure the Crown Derby enhances your enjoyment of your sandwich! Happy holidays to you!
This is the second time i've enjoyed watching this video of George P. his beautiful home is so warm, welcoming, and elegant. Wow, that bedroom that you stayed in looked luxurious and comforting on a cold winter night. How lucky were you, MS. Goldilocks! The table setting was perfection as always. Mr. P. Has quite a wonderful life! The closing scene having the talk by the fireplace was cozy and intimate, it really gave us the sense of winter. I imagined the smell of wood burning and the comforting heat of the fireplace. There was a slight technical problem that was bothersome, the crackling of the burning wood drowned out GP's voice. But these are probably one time takes and you had to go with it. Otherwise this was a beautiful video that you presented. Thank you for sharing!
Hi susana please do not stop filming these videos it’s Amazing and inspiring ❤️ Love how the people you interviews are so talented and have many Talents and hobbies fills there time we want more 😍😍😍
We obviously aren't filming now but happily have a deep inventory of episodes that we will be bringing you every month. As soon as we can get back out there, we will resume filming!
I am so excited when I see a new video ... your videos are exquisite and delightful from start to finish ... They inspire me so much! I just started working at Ballard and to my delight I found your book ... I had been in search of it and was so happy to find it when I began working there. Time to watch the video again. I will see at least a dozen new things the second time. He adores blue and white as do I. I also love seeing some animal print infused in his beautiful home. This will sound somewhat stupid, but are the comments coming from you Susanna? Just because I am such a fan of yours:)). And a nerd, apparently. Absolutely beautiful videos, every single one. All of your hard work and energies are so appreciated!!! What a gift to all of us who love home interiors ...
Susanna, oh it is so exciting that it is you!! Thank you for responding ... I am just in awe of you and all that you do!! Oh yes, working at Ballard is so much fun ... thank you again. You are amazing🌷.
Bonnie W Hi Bonnie - as you can see, we both comment here - the “orange Q” comments are from me (Stacey - behind the camera). So glad you enjoy - wishing you a very happy holiday!
Susanna and Stacey, you ladies have truly made my day ... magic is a perfect word for what you do for us!! Wishing you both a very Merry Christmas and a magical and Happy New Year ahead ... thank you so very much!! 💗🎄
Alex, my lovely Greek fellow!! Setting a table is a pure joy of self expression!! As a fellow Greek I wonder if it is a cultural thing? You know that cooking greek cuisine is a time consuming act of theatre and love. I am a Greek fisherman's daughter from Destin Florida and I possess 28 sets of china. You may ask why? Well it is self expression in the truist form!! You must have a table worthy of the wondergul food.!#!#
First time I've heard it called a "salt and pepper shaker" addiction. But it's so true. I also have the addiction. I'm pretty sure I inherited my addiction from my grandmother. LOL She had many beautiful salt and pepper shakers.
I LOVE THIS! I have now found my person! I have a plate addiction and this is amazing! Thank you for this Video. I am saving this to watch everyday lol! ❤️
A rug pad for your placemats! I'm going to direct my friends and family to this video the next time someone tells me I'm extra. lol Susanna, I loved your question at the end about stepping up your tabletop even if you don't have the time, storage, budget or inclination. One of the ways I first started out rounding out my basic white china was to add beautiful salad plates. They're easy to store and can be more affordable so you can change up the look by having several different sets. At 7:45 I love the brass push button light switches in the background. My grandmother has them with a mother of pearl inlay and I've always loved them. Thanks for another wonderful video!
I actually don't love main courses on patterened plates, I find it a little distracting. Its odd because I hate anything mundane or modern but I do like white plates or just border patterned plates for entrees. Patterns are great for dessert, bread or salad plates though.
I'm obsessed with Alex and his table settings. I can't get enough of videos on this topic.
We love Alex too! And Alex and I share a passion for setting the table!
