My late father was in the OPP for 35 years, and for 2 of those years he supervised the Golden Helmets (although he did not ride). My Mom was like a den mother to the team, and she travelled around the province with them. When Mom passed away in 2005, 18 years after Dad retired, the OPP sent six Golden Helmet officers to her funeral to act as a Honor Guard. None of the six were old enough to have known my Mom or Dad, but they all showed up in their dress uniforms. Dad didn't know that they would be there, and he cried when he saw them arrive because he knew how proud Mom would have been. Great guys.
I have seen these riders perform at the London Ontario 2007 Harley Canadian Rally, and I have also passed by them driving on the QEW a few times. Two thumbs up for precision on a huge Harley, one step up from my former 2001 Sportster. Rick - an awesome rider!!!
