The techniques you guys learn are valuable no matter what you ride. Too bad that the public can't attend your courses. Good work with the footage and not bad video editing.
Not really. H.D's are tough bikes that can carry plenty of weight. They are the most maneuverable of the heavy weight motorcycles and much more comfortable than say the BMW RT1200 police bikes and much less money to purchase ( about 17K) than anything else and the resale is better than most. Since we don't chase, sport bike performance isn't needed. The Victory's were pretty good but at 35K, way too much money and now they're out of business. That's why most agency's use Harley's.

Beautiful just Beautiful...I was an instructor with the Calgary Police Service and the Alberta Sheriffs, put in over 30000 hours of training time, most of the time was on the HD steele steads as you can see in this video, boy does this bring back memories, taking a fresh officer and turning said officer into an Awesome Motor Cop. We did the same off road, lots of gravel roads, head and eyes, break, throttle, clutch. Keeping it smooth and only one foot down, and if the bike want to go down walk off. Roll off the bike, pick it up and keep practicing. The rear full lock braking we did on grass, helped in controlling the bike and save the rear tire. Did this for over 20 years and still have a big passion for operations and officer safety...Oooo plus my wife has turned out to be a better operator than me, She came out to a lot of courses and was very protective of my training officers and looked after them and their families during training time which was 80 hours. AS always Cops also need heros and Motor Cops are that....LOL. God keep you safe, and Ride With Pride.

Imagine going for a nice highway ride one day and you feel a rumble in the road, you look back thinking you are gonna see the angels behind you but nope 40 bike cops. You would shit you pants!!!
I think their choice of gear is a bit weird. 1. Why don't they wear proper safetey equipment. A shirt and pants won't protect you in case of an accident and you will look like a peeled potato with your skin covering the asphalt. 2. Why are they wearing their gun on their hips while riding? In case of an accident your own gun while more than likely break your hip and cause enormous internal bleeding. Here in Europe it is pretty common for motorcycle officers to wear their gun in a fanny pack holster 3. Why are they riding Harleys? They are super heavy, expensive, slow, allow very little angle, have terrible brakes and require a lot of maintenance. Doesn't seem like an obvious choice for a police motorcycle

One of my bikes is a Ultra limited, and I love it. But when I'm watching this, I can't help but think there are at least 4 other bikes that are much more capable and just as functional for this type of riding.
In My Contry Police ride Yamaha FJR 1300. and BMW K 1600 as Police bike's, they they did fix them so they can run faster, you can not run away from a Danish Motor cykel Police, in the City they use small 5-700cmm Ofroader 2 wheels Bike's, you can fucking not out run them. evrn the police are fucking good drivers here on there bike's. we did have 1 policeman here, did hunt a bank rubber on he's bike, even if they did shot the policeman 4-5 time's, he did still get back on he's bike and hunt the rubber down, and after he did handcof him, the policeman colaps, and end up on hospital,, but he did recover and are again on he's bike.. cracy man..
Nadejda Schmidt in the Netherlands There are two types of motorcycles in use; the BMW K1600GT(heavy duty/high speed) and the BMW 1200GS(light duty/all-terrain). I'm sure both can outperform a Harley any day, hell, any bike can outperform such an overpriced, shit quality 'murican Harley, the 1600 has enough storage and probably way better electronics and agility in the hands of an equaly skilled rider then a Harley and the 1200 can handle pretty much anything, the only two reasons two bikes are used is due to preference of having better fairing and wind shields, coupled with higher speeds on the 1600 and having the agility and cost-effectivenes of the 1200
LAPD Motor School was tough. Really tight cone patterns, acceleration and braking exercises, as well as a high speed course. The fastest I went on my Kawasaki Police 1000 was an indicated 106 MPH. The bike was steady as a rock at that speed but no match for the Porsche on the 405.
I mean if they had an extra bike I would love to go through that training. I aint about to drop my bike. I have seen what some of these bike cops can do in competitions and I would love to be able to do a percent of what these guys are capable of on a course.

If I even posted 10 seconds of this song my entire UA-cam channel would be demonetized.....
4:36 wasn't silly string
Imagine going for a nice highway ride one day and you feel a rumble in the road, you look back thinking you are gonna see the angels behind you but nope 40 bike cops. You would shit you pants!!!
Nope, because I know these guys couldn't catch me. I'd be going off road where them bikes would be useless
Outstanding job creating / editing this video. Top notch!!
I’ve never seen Motor training that included off road on a HD..Well done!
This is the most dope video ever ! respect to who risk their life for us !
Thanks, Dan!
Here in Europe it is pretty common for motorcycle officers to wear their gun in a fanny pack holster
3. Why are they riding Harleys? They are super heavy, expensive, slow, allow very little angle, have terrible brakes and require a lot of maintenance. Doesn't seem like an obvious choice for a police motorcycle
Slow ? Terrible brakes, have you ever ridden one ?
@@riejurrwheelieboy7538 Compared to the Kawsaki Police 1000, they handle about as well as a brick flies. And before you ask, I've ridden both, and own and ride a KZ1000-P7 on a daily basis.
They do well with hauling gear and racking up miles. While it may be true that better choices are out there, you have to understand that in the States every department I know of buys their vehicles made in America. Ford, GMC, and Harley. In fact, the only piece of equipmentI can think of typically not American is the Glock. But even then most officers I know prefer to carry Smith and Wesson
So many questions, harleys, open face helmets, no protective gear. What a clowns
Now that I think of it. Do Motorcycle cops ever wear protective road gear?
B-Red Films yeah the ones in Arkansas where gloves jeans/pants and long sleeve shirts
In the Netherlands the cops uses BMW R 1200 RT and the Yamaha MT-07 Tracer. Fully geared leather hi vis.
@@mwpwnd9797 ja tochh, heb je de nieuwe pakken gezien?
@@BRedFilms How are you going to do police work when in full protective moto gear? Soldiers can wear porcelain vests too ... but forget running and just moving .
That is the most awesome thing I’ve seen all week! Go motorcycle cops!
Looks like a great time. Neat class, be safe out there brothers in blue. From KCSO in WA state I tend to be more gentle on my personal ride.
Congrats to all the new Motor Officers, be careful out there!
Thank you, Gary.
5:00 Jesus was he going to quick draw on silly string. Lol easy there!
I reckon! 😳
Lol I assumed it was as a joke..but then again with everything in 2020....
I love Harleys, but they need lighter more agile bikes !
You mean a dyna? Or a sportster?
Great video, hats off to all you officers who ride, let alone do the job itself! Seems like a great program to help make the bike an extremely useful tool - stay safe!!
A bit late to the party but why no gear? Jacket and gloves at the bare minimum. No idea why they are an exception.

Thank you! Please share with your friends in Russia.
Готово! )))
sukaaa!!

I wanna be a bike cop now...
Go for it!
Good times and a very humbling experience... I quickly learned that I had a lot of bad habits to break, as well as, you can't muscle that bike (lol)...
In my opinion, being a motor-man was and is the best damn job in the PD.
I proudly served with Detroit PD as a motorman. I had the honor to be trained by and rode wiith one of the best motorcops in our state! RIP: Rodney "Hot Rod" Jones...
Sadly "Hotrod" unexpectedly passed during a police motorcycle fundraising event. (see below)

What's the point of not wearing gear? Just asking what the philosophy behind it is...
I'm always asking why not supermoto or enduro bikes?
"don't worry boss, ill chase that dude down on my harley, just need to find a driveway first cause i can't mount curbs"
5:00 watch as the police officer draws for his weapon in his natural habitat
They’re joking. It is clear that they did bot intend to draw.
2:28 Just gonna send ittt
One of my bikes is a Ultra limited, and I love it. But when I'm watching this, I can't help but think there are at least 4 other bikes that are much more capable and just as functional for this type of riding.
So cool movie.
How many PD and SD join this training⁉️
I'm sure both can outperform a Harley any day, hell, any bike can outperform such an overpriced, shit quality 'murican Harley, the 1600 has enough storage and probably way better electronics and agility in the hands of an equaly skilled rider then a Harley and the 1200 can handle pretty much anything, the only two reasons two bikes are used is due to preference of having better fairing and wind shields, coupled with higher speeds on the 1600 and having the agility and cost-effectivenes of the 1200
Damn rubbers
Harley -Davidson THE Police Bike , awsome .
Yep!
Why do they give the, harleys there slow and are so dang heavy give them a different bike
Riding in Shirts. How safe is that?
Truly awesome to watch thanks for posting and greetings from across the pond :)
Would love doing such a class, but not with my 1971 Electra = : D
Those harleys really are not practical, very heavy and very slow.
I’d take a Honda, kawi, or bmw motor over a Harley ANY day
Johnny 'N' Stuff then move to Europe or Japan.
@@ktmterry373 doesn't follow
agreed Harley is garbage
So you like dad bikes?
Not a motto officer but would love to take their course! My FXRP is not as heavy, so I’d need a loaner😎🏍
Pretty well put together video mate, liked the transition with the clutch casing.
YellowVanMan 👍🏼👍🏼
Wow USA Police Awesome.
CRAZY EXTREME ENDURO thank you!
That's nothing in oklahoma we give state troopers hayabusas
Village people.
Uncle in his cabin: Hey billy, want to touch a trouser snake?
The dirt road to his cabin: 2:16
LAPD Motor School was tough. Really tight cone patterns, acceleration and braking exercises, as well as a high speed course. The fastest I went on my Kawasaki Police 1000 was an indicated 106 MPH. The bike was steady as a rock at that speed but no match for the Porsche on the 405.
Oh man, I love this video. Saving it. Thank you for this video. I love it. I had no idea how cops got their motorcycle training.
How about use faster, more modern and versatile bikes though?
Harley doesn't build any.
Great video guys! Loved it. If I was going to move to the USA and become a police officer I would definitely come to Yonkers! Thanks for the fun.
Out here there on Honda st. Awesome training, ty for sharing this. Showing failures and success. Loved the cutting up too.
Slow speed skills humble!
Isnt there signs that say no motor vehicles on bike path
1:02 why exactly you need to carry a gun while training with bikes?
Is it true that police harleys are fitted with automatic transmission ???
Is there anywhere the public can get training like this ??
I mean if they had an extra bike I would love to go through that training. I aint about to drop my bike. I have seen what some of these bike cops can do in competitions and I would love to be able to do a percent of what these guys are capable of on a course.
Do students with no riding experience have a harder time in this course, or does it make no difference at all?
