    • How to Order My Cookbo...
    Brigadeiros are Brazilian Chocolaty Confections. They are the most famous and beloved chocolate caramel fudge truffles.
    Even if you don't have a sweet tooth (me neither) you would like them!!! They are very addictive. hehe
    ---------------------------------
    Brigadeiros
    Difficulty: Super Easy
    Time: 30min
    Number of servings: 15 pieces
    Ingredients:
    200g (7oz.) sweetened condensed milk
    1/2 tbsp unsalted butter
    1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
    sprinkles of your choice (chocolate sprinkles, coconuts, etc…)
    Directions:
    1. Place condensed milk, butter, and cocoa powder (sifted) in a saucepan. Put on low, stirring constantly for 10 minutes until the mixture gets thick and starts to come off the pan.
    2. Leave to cool. When it is cool enough to handle, grease your hands with butter and roll it into little balls.
    3. Roll them in sprinkles of your choice, then place them in paper or foil candy cups.
    You can store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.

    I made these. Overcooked them the first time and they turned out hard and very difficult to roll into balls. The second time they turned out perfectly. It's a little messy to roll but they taste amazing. Not too sweet, and just the right amount of chocolate!

    Guys, here is a nice treat for a date at home, you just leave it in the pan and eat while warm with a spoon, some sprinkles if you want, watching a nice movie with your date, this is something that couples do here in Brazil. Also, let me tell you, if you're throwing a party, man, you gotta make these, here in Amazonas we say: "Eu vou só por causa dos brigadeiros" which mean: "I'm only going because of the brigadeiros", like they are the real deal in a party haha. But you guys need to try it, there are so many ways of making it, you can always try different stuff that suits your taste.

      you can leave it in english. Or, for french, you can say this :
      Brigadeiros (truffes brésiliennes au chocolat et au caramel)

    • @liakohl
      @liakohl 8 років тому +5

      I'm Brazilian and I find that adding "Caramel" makes it a bit misleading or confusing. I'd only write Brigadeiro Chocolate Fudge Truffles. Also, you can use the base recipe (condensed milk + butter) and substitute the cocoa powder to vary the flavours such as:
      Mactha Powder
      Cocoa Powder + (one tiny spoon) Instant Coffee
      White Chocolate or White Chocolate Powder
      Nuts - Pistachios or Peanuts
      Finely Chopped Strawberry
      Lemon (or Lime) Zest + Juice
      I hope you have the chance to try, specially the Matcha, as it is not overly sweet (made for my birthday and it was a total success). Good Luck

    Hi!
    I'm from Brazil and was very surprised to see you doing this delicious treat. I remember that a History teacher told us the story behind "brigadeiro": there was an election going on and a brigadeiro (a military rank) was a candidate. Since he was handsome but without much money, women who liked him started selling these sweet treat in order to fund his campaign, and that's why it's called "brigadeiro". He didn't get elected though. ... That's what I remember, hehe. 😁
    And I usually put the ingredients by eye measure so I think the proportion may differ, maybe I'll try this too.
    It was a nice surprise and I love these. Keep up the good work! 😄
    See ya~! 😎

    I'm brazilian and I love to see it! ♥ As a child I didn't like brigadeiro because I hated the sprinkles! I always prefered the "beijinho" ("little kisses"), made with condensed milk and coconut :) please, try it too :D www.frombraziltoyou.org/brazilian-coconut-kisses-beijinhos-de-coco/
    Sometimes the brigadeiros are even sweeter because we also use chocolate instead of cocoa!

    Hi Ochikeron! I'm Brazilian and I always make brigadeiro. Including to sell them. I add milk cream or heavy cream and a tablespoon of flour. This way it's not so sweet and it doesn't crystallize when exposed. Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe from my country.

    Hey you nailed it!! It looks so good.
    Do you know that is also common to eat it with a spoon?(Instead of making little balls) You have to cook a little less to not get that thick and you can put in a plate to share with your girl friends in a movie night!! Its awesome, I used to do as a teenager :DD
    Maybe one day you can try!
    Greetings from Brazil

  • @le96g
    @le96g 8 років тому +1

    Idk who stores brigadeiro for a week, I eat them all in one day lol I don't even roll them into balls, I eat with a spoon. Happy to see another brazilian recipe in here! :) You can make other flavours too, just change the cocoa powder for another thing, i really like with parmeson cheese. The sweet and salty go really well together! :)

  • @matty8532
    @matty8532 8 років тому +1

    You can replace the cocoa powder with white chocolate chips (stir well until melted and combined) to make it white chocolate flavored. Other flavored powders may work as well.
    You can cook it just until it starts to thicken for a soft brigadeiro, which can be served in small cups and spoons. If after cooked and cooled down it is too soft to shape, let it stay in the fridge for a couple of hours until it firms.

    I always found funny that some foreigners wanted to come to Brazil to eat brigadeiro when it's so easy to make at home. I mean, cocoa powder + condensed milk + butter are easy to get and you just need to mix them up and heat either or a stove or a microwave x3

    I'm Brazilian and to be honest sometimes I feel like it's too sweet for me, so I mix in a little heavy cream. Usually this makes it impossible to actually roll them, but then you can eat it as a dip for strawberries and other fruit, or use it as cake frosting/filling if you want.

  • @BirdSeedForSpeed
    @BirdSeedForSpeed 8 років тому

    Here in brazil you usually only make them like that, rolled up and with sprinkles for a party or something. It is a great snack to make when you are craving sweets tho, just cook it and eat straight out of the pan with a spoon! :)
