Hi! I'm a 65 year old black American man who saw this great film when it was first released in theaters. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it, as did the audience! This is my first time watching one of your reaction videos, and I really enjoyed it! Please don't be discouraged by some of the comments. The usual suspects are always present and always have something to say; no matter how stupid or ignorant. Anyway, I became a subscriber and look forward to seeing more of your content. Peace and love to you and yours!❤😊
15:41 *When Dillon yells to Dutch, "On your 9!", he meant "9 O' Clock, meaning, "On your left side", where the 9 is. on the face of a clock. If you stood on the center of the face of a clock, "12 O' Clock" would be straight ahead or forward. "3 O' Clock" would be on you right side, "6 O' Clock" is behind you/Your back, and we know 9: O' Clock.* ☺ *The most used term is, 6 O' Clock or "Your 6", especially in Military and Police movies and TV shows. "Watch your 6.". "My friends/partners/team got my 6/have my 6.". So, telling someone "You got their 6"/"I got your 6", is telling them your watching behind them, so nobody sneaks up on them.* *Also, when military jets are flying, a "bogey" is an unidentified aircraft, suspected of being hostile. So, in movies, if you hear a pilot tell another pilot, "Bogey on your 6.", that's an enemy plane coming up. behind them.*
I have a Colombian friend that grew up in the 80s-90s watching Arnie movies, but in Colombia they are all dubbed in Spanish. It wasn't until he moved to Canada as an adult that he actually heard Arnold's real voice and was very surprised.
In many Native American tribes, the warriors would cut the chest as a way to say, "this is my heart, the heart of a warrior". He stayed to die not running in fear but standing his ground like a true honorable warrior. This movie did a great job honoring Native American and modern U.S. Military warriors.
The actor playing the Preditor is, "Kevin Peter Hall". He is also playing the helicopter pilot at the end of the film. They wanted people to see the actor. Sadly he passed away a few years after the film. Really enjoyed your reaction. As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
29:04 I hate that the subtitles always say Mac is yelling "Sergeant" when he's actually yelling "Contact!" This makes everyone blowing up the jungle in context: if someone in your squad yells contact and shooting, it's best to empty your weapon in that direction.
This is good to know, I did not know that. All I know is they've been through a lot together and they trust each other. Since Mac was firing then they're firing too. Mac emptied his gun and then grabbed the mini and never stopped firing. I always thought it spoke volumes about their camaraderie. I played back the scene just so I can see him yell out "Contact." Makes absolute sense! Yeah, as long as Mac is firing I'm there too!
it irks me in a similar manner when Mac keeps saying "those eyes disappeared"... like WTF dude, there are at least 25 more important details that you - as a weathered soldier - could have mentioned. Disappearing eyes of all the things... smh... who wrote that line?
That's standing procedure. It's called laying suppressing fire. Anything in front of you is either getting the crap shot out of them or they're taking cover and not shooting at you. They were not wasting ammo. They were following standard military procedure.
When the Predator shot Dutch (Arnold) with his plasma canon it hit Dutch's M16 near the receiver-butt area causing minor burns and the bleeding stops when cauterized by the plasm. So, when Dutch falls in water it washes the blood away and no more bleeding. A very logical explanation for a very fictional movie. 😉
Billy stood his ground on that bridge that's a fallen tree. It should be the only way across so he stood there to block the path maybe buy the others some time. He threw away his rifle because it's a long range weapon and he wanted to goad the creature into fighting him hand to hand, to see him up close. He also knew it was the end, he said it earlier and he didn't want to run from it. Of course this is all done wordlessly. He neither confirms what he does nor does he deny that he existed.
Jesse Ventura (Blain, the tobacco chewer) served with the US Navy as an Underwater Demolition Team "Frogman." In civilian life, he was a pro wrestler, actor, and eventually became the Governor of Minnesota. Arnold Schwarzenegger was in the Austrian army and drove a tank. He emigrated to the U.S. and became a citizen a long time ago. Another actor/politician.He eventually became the Governor of California.
Both end up as failed Governors. Especially California that Arnold help run to the ground. Born and raised in California i never thought the Golden state would turn into fool's gold
Special Operation teams train an insane amount so they can predict each other's moves and preferences this is key to their effectiveness; Dillon (Apollo Creed) has been running a desk so long he is out of practice throwing off their routines. These types of teams have and respect rank but in field and off they are brothers first rank second. They need to talk and act fast, so ideas need to be conveyed quickly to preserve the mission effectiveness and safety of team members. Jesse Venture the "sexual tyrannosaurus" who operates "old painless", was a Navy Seal in real life who served in Vietnam war.
The thing about Hawkins' attempt to tell Billy a joke at the start is that no one laughs at the joke itself, but at Hawkins' feeble efforts to save face.
Great reaction to one of my all time favorite movies! I must've seen it over 100 times by now but never get tired of it lol. I hope you're going to react to Predator 2 as well, which takes place in a different kind of environment but is still a fun and interesting movie, revealing a bit more about the Predator species.
@VenezuelaGirlReacts . Is " Conan The Barbarian " ..from 1982 on your list ? It has one of the best soundtracks.. it's a sword and sorcery movie but it has realistic aspects to it that make it seem real more than fantasy ..because of real stunts.. less cgi ..even with flaws it is well made.. it's Arnold's first big movie..it put him on the map
Hi! Thank you for another, as always, great reaction! 🙂 As far as I know: "Fuel dump" = a place where fuel is stored for later use. The big gun with a backpack is a minigun, a high speed machine gun. The guy in the chopper was chewing tobacco. "An infrared" = an infrared, meaning heat seeking, missile - probably like a Stinger, which is a shoulder mounted anti-aircraft heat-seeking missile. Billy cut himself to prevent the predator to get first blood. Dutch (Arnold) got shot in the arm by the predator, but because of his muscles being as strong as metal plate armor, the arm was not detached 😅 And.. when in doubt - always get to the choppah! 🙂 Br
53:55 When I see Dutch underneath that tree, hiding, as the predator walks across the tree above him i think 2 things: 1.)how many spiders, scorpions, beatles, ants, snakes, or WHATEVER would be under a tree in the Amazon jungle, crawling all over Dutch's face and bare chest 2.)even if it's a movie, if they shot in Costa Rica, then there would STILL be those things all over the actor, ARNOLD, too I'm hoping they "made" that bridge as a prop, so it's plastic and clean and didnt use an actual fallen tree. I've hiked the Amazon....and every inch of that jungle is crawling with something. Even on the "trail" they were walking on, there's bluish crabs that bury themselves under the trail, and only come out when it rains. Why? I dont know. Can you see them? No. You can "kinda" feel their shells underfoot, but if you pour your water bottle out on top of the area (dont waste your water like that), then they'll squirm out of the earth, like a blue tick, but sideways.
Agreed. I watch several reaction channels. VG.s style took a little while to get used to but I really like it . She is not asking US what is going on, but articulating the questions we all ask ourselves as we watch somethinh new. We get to experience the journey of discovery far more than if there is just an occasional "wow I didn;t expect that" or "fantastuc CGI / SFX / explosion. If that's not your cup of tea (yes -I;m British) watch another channel. PS typing tis in the dark ...
The Predator is a sport hunter. In the moments leading up to their face-off he saw that Dutch had no weapons and wanted to fight him hand to hand in an honorable contest.
When I went to see this on opening night, the film broke just as it was getting started - boy were my friends and I irritated. We got free return tickets though. The levels of testosterone in this film were off the chart, and I actually grew chest hair watching it. Arnold and Jesse were both engaged in competitive "who has the biggest muscles" throughout the production. You go ahead and react all you want it's why we watch reaction videos.😁
When he said "On your 9" he was saying he is on your left. 12 is straight in front of you, 3 is your right and your 6 is behind you. You're using a clock method of direction.
Doesn't help now when people are currently raised in a modern digital clock environment. Why not just say "left" instead of "9"? Or "rear" instead of "6"? But I do like analog watches over digital ones.
The skin you are describing is like a salamander. Agree. Great special effects. Btw there are more than one. They have come to earth to hunt for centuries. The mask also had gas air hoses he disconnected. He couldn't breath earth atmosphere alone for very long.
Honey don't take this too critically, you are young and new to this reacting deal. Overall you are doing a great job and very likable. But talking too much just to ask questions makes you miss dialogue that would explain and answer a lot of questions
Yeah the sheer irony of asking a question out loud while its being answered at the very same time, but missing out on the answer because you're too busy asking the question. But at least she has the subtitles on.
1:00:44 the alien says the same words back. What the hell are you not mimicking him. He’s asking how this creature was able to defeat him. He has superior technology and he’s strong stronger and faster in every way.. Arnold is just a little smarter because he used the mud to hide from him.
When Sonny Landham "Billy" was on set they had to pay private Security to follow him around/ Not for His protection but for EveryOne else's,,Mr.Landham LOVED to drink hard liquor and was well known to instigate or flat begin violent fights (knockDown DragOut ER visit type) with AnyOne within his general area.
I didn’t know it was possible for a reactor to talk too much! Wayyyyy too much blather; you miss vital information via dialogue when you talk during each and every scene! 🤦🏻♂️
15:36 That gun is called a MiniGun (even though there's arguably not anything particularly "mini" about it!). 15:45 "Dutch, on your nine!" was telling him where a target was. If you think of a traditional clock-face and imagine that 12 o'clock is straight ahead of you, then someone saying "on your nine" to you would be telling you that there was someone about 90º to your left (because of where the number 9 appears on a traditional clock-face). Similarly, "on your six" would be that there was someone directly behind you (because the number 6 is immediately opposite of 12 on such a clock-face).
It's called a mini-gun because that style of rotary-barrel rapid-fire machine gun is normally built as a stationary cannon which is considerably larger and cannot be carried around by a single person. But General Electric made a scaled-down version so soldiers could carry it into areas where normally cannons cannot be wheeled along.... since there is no level ground and no roads. Thus...... soldiers popularly referred to it as a "Mini-Gun".
It would make sense...... considering that there were many similarities between the predator and reptiles or amphibians; both of which have an easier time being active in warm climates.... based on their metabolism.
This is supposed to take place in some south of the border country like Nicaragua or El Salvador. They had to film in Mexico because it was cheaper for the studio.
A minigun is great for home defense if you can't get your hands on a phased plasma rifle in a 40W range. BTW the story's set in a central American country and it was shot in Mexico.
Billy cuts himself on the chest so he wouldn't be skinned alive by the alien, and Arnold doesn't gets hit by the laser on his hand but his gun takes the hit and breaks in half.
I thought Billy cut himself to deny the Predator's chance to draw "first blood". Thus making Billy a pre-wounded victim and therefore denying the Predator the true glory of the hunt.....or something like that.
I’m surprised you don’t know who Arnold Schwarzenegger is. He’s a well known Austrian-American actor, former bodybuilder, and politician. He was a very popular action star. I’m not sure if he was as popular in your country, Venezuela.

This is my favorite movie like ever and I didn’t find the reaction annoying. All reactors talk during the movies. So I don’t get why everyone is bashing this reaction.
I love her reaction but the scene where they destroyed the forest I wish people would quit talking about their ammo and just embrace this bad ass moment of how much firepower five men bring.
I'm at the 4:00 minute mark exactly in this video and I already have to tap out, 30 questions in 4 minutes is just annoying, just watch and enjoy, try reacting naturally when something causes you to react, movies generally will fill in the blanks as they go forward, sincerely good luck with the channel. 😖

Conan The Barbarian( 1982 ) as well.. for the great orchestral soundtrack/score.. the great cinematography.. the first big Arnold Swarzenegger movie

I always just assumed that the Predator's home planet was generally warmer than ours, so that when it gets hot on Earth that means it's hunting season
If you watch AvpR they show the planet
It would make sense...... considering that there were many similarities between the predator and reptiles or amphibians; both of which have an easier time being active in warm climates.... based on their metabolism.
But for me predator is cute and terrifying 😊 ❤🔥
That weapon Jesse Ventura had is a gattling gun
A small laser weapon it's a plasma gun and the big machine gun is called a gathering gun, not a flame thrower.

Venezuela Girl Reacts YEP Lets go 🍒
What's your name girl?
This is my favorite movie like ever and I didn’t find the reaction annoying. All reactors talk during the movies. So I don’t get why everyone is bashing this reaction.
thanks!
Fran is gorgeous
Idk why UA-cam keeps unsubscribing me from your channel its weird
i do not know 🤔
Awesome reaction as always ❤
thank you!
@VenezuelaGirlReacts you're welcome ☺️
I love her reaction but the scene where they destroyed the forest I wish people would quit talking about their ammo and just embrace this bad ass moment of how much firepower five men bring.
Awesome reaction. Thank you.
Thank you too!
Why would you put your picture in the middle of the screen? You make this reaction hard to watch. You talk too much and miss things.
You talk too much while the movie is going.
You're fun, I find your reactions hilarious!!!
Thanks! 😁
Great movie...great reaction !! :0)
Thank you!! 😁
do you still talk so much like that ?
Just found your channel..
I am gonna subscribe and check your channel out.
Good Luck on your channel
thank you
@VenezuelaGirlReacts You have a unique way of reacting..
Love it...
