The Tube of the Future London Train FULL

  • A futuristic train that could on day become the future of underground rail travel has been unveiled.
    A full-size concept model of Inspiro - a driverless train that is more energy efficient than current models in use with more creature comforts for commuters, will go on show at an exhibition in London.
    Siemens, the company behind the concept, has hinted that next generation Tube trains like Inspiro, which costs a whopping £1million a carriage, could be built in Britain if the mayor placed an order for the new trains.

    A driverless train will always be less secure than a train with a driver.
    We had an ICE hitting a tree that fell onto the tracks, and the only thing that prevented a major disaster was that the driver noticed a fluctuation in the overhead line voltage, and interpeted it right as a tree that fell onto the tracks and went into full emergency brake application.
    Thanks to that, the ICE hit the tree at 60 kph instead of a 180 kph and suffering only minor damage, and not de-railing as it would've happened otherwise, which would've led to a lot of casualties.
    It was a stormy night, and given the distance an ICE needs to come to a full stop, the line voltage fluctuation was the only indication, that something was wrong.
    The driver was experienced, and able to make the connection between a tree hitting the overhead wires by falling onto the tracks, and the line voltage fluctuation.
    A computer can't do that.
    When a driver fucks up, you'll hear about that, but if a driver's actions save the day, you'll never hear about that.
    Thanks mainstream media, for not doing your job.

    • @Tonatsi
      @Tonatsi 3 роки тому +3

      Problem with your logic: actually, a computer can do that, it just wasn’t told to. A computer can notice the fluctuations, and matter of fact, can instantly calculate the necessary size of an object to cause the exact drain on the line that currently is. As such, it can calculate where the obstruction likely is, and what is necessary to be done.
      The computer simply wasn’t created with that in mind, but that is more a fault of the humans who created it than an inherent safety in using a driver instead of a human.

      That's a high speed mainline train, not a Tube train that'll do 100kph max. The design is also that of a deep level tube, where that majority of the line is underground, so trees on tracks won't be an issue

    • @Tonatsi
      @Tonatsi 3 роки тому

      @@M1CAE1. "The majority" - most deep level trains still have surface stations, and that's where the issues would be.

      Obviously lol this concept design, i'm not sure if that is actually going to be our new tfl train officially but the inside of the train is not as disgusting and dirty as the one we have now in london city, i remember i go into my local station finsbury park station the air in there is horrible, inside the train is even worse humid as fuck interior design of present day tfl trains are outdated so it needs the upgrade regardless.

      My guess is that the trains need a way of manual control during emergencies or unusual situations. Or it could just be a way to reassure passengers that there's always a way to take manual control away from the computer, just in case. We don't want HAL or GLaDOS driving the train we're on, right?

    Nice design. I like things that look modern, and the train design is indeed streamlined. This may have been the inspiration for the most recent upgrade, which I saw online on a different video. I'm not from London--in fact, I'm from the US--but I enjoy train rides and I would love to take a ride on that. The air conditioning was a great idea too. I was in New York once and the trains were a bit warm. Maybe this design will inspire a new system there too. I know some people have made negative comments about your design but I think it's cool. I'd like to point out to those people that this is probably just a prototype and will possibly be improved.

    I wonder if Siemens deliberately made the windows small to increase stiffness while making it lighter, or if it's just a design feature that will stay. The negatives of this are people's experiences on the tube train. Reduced natural light and views out coupled with the powerful daylight like led would make travelling on it very uncomfortable, and make travelling on the outside sections feel just like travelling underground. I would replace the driver with a guard at a lower wage to pass on the savings to customers. The underground as an institution is brilliant and unique, as a transport provider, it's appalling. Poorly managed, funded, expensive tickets, poor reputation etc. London underground needs a major overhaul! Better trains would be a start, however, this Siemens train is only a small step in the right direction. Also not a fan of the cab design.

    Doesn't have the 'turby tube' front which I always liked about the tube trains. Unless these ones are 'driverless' trains. As I notice with this design the driver can't see out of the side. There maybe some continuation with previous train designs, such as the 'brat style' doors and windows which were caused due to the curvature of these Tube trains so they could fit the tunnels.

    no hate on this but my favourite form of transport has to be the tube the old ones always had a awesome sounding motor and just a masterpiece of london that should never be changed. god damn 21st century and i was born in 21st century but every thing is just being changed into "futeristic" stuff but i will be very sad if they do get new underground tubes. i think it will spoil london.

    Should've employed the services of Dr Who. He can make things bigger, on the inside. No more being thrust face first into some sweaty businessman.

    When will Piccadilly line get some decent tube trains to replace the current 42 year old trains (known as 1973 stock, but enetered service from around 1975)

    I think siemens should consider better braking systems. All the trains i know that are made by siemens have at least some braking issues.

    Some commentary would have been welcome. Who designed this video? To put white text on a white background defeats the purpose of the text. Get a grip, whoever you are.

    The interior looks amazing and everything, but the front... is just horrible! The only reason I can think of for making a front like this is to have windows at the front for passengers (assuming there would be no drivers) but even then, they should consider improving it...

      ***** They hope the front will give the trains an international image, like the buses and taxis, by adding the iconic roundel at the front. That's what the designer said at a talk to my DT class.

    Stop the ranting. This is clearly a prototype and is not final. I wonder why nobody likes this modern style, and then I'm like, "Oh, it's a prototype, it won't really look like this." I personally tend to gravitate toward simple, modern designs, but not everyone will agree. Let people have their personal opinions and you can have your own. It really doesn't require ranting and cussing. People will have diverse opinions and that is totally normal.
