The Forgotten Mossfield Colliery Disaster - Graveyard Stories #1

In this new series, I delve into one of the many forgotten stories that can be found in our graveyards. On October 16th 1889 a disastrous explosion at Mossfield Colliery, Longton killed 64 miners. Join me at their forgotten memorial as I explain what happened and later visit the site as it looks today.

It looks like it wiped out whole families. That is so sad. Probably fathers and sons. 😢 We take for granted all the sacrifices of these people, all for a bit of coal to take out the chill. Thanks for telling their story.

It certainly is very sad. Makes you feel very grateful for the world we currently live in. And the sacrifices our ancestors made.
