Fun fact: Um Oh Ah Yeah is actually about Solar falling for a cute 'guy' (Moonbyul) but in the end finds out she's actually a girl! Thus, 'Um Oh Ah Yeah' is an expression of her shock after she finds out she fallen for a handsome girl HAHA! This song became sort of a gay anthem for many fans and even played at pride parades (if I rmb correctly). Mamamoo is one of the only kpop groups which actively shows their support for the LGBTQ community through their music even though it's still taboo in Korea.

Basically in Mr, Ambiguous, Baek Ji Young pulled a prank on mamamoo saying that she expected more from mamamoo (as a first listen) and that they should be singing live. Basically gave loads of harsh criticism but it was a prank , hence their reactions

@@fifizappareacts also for reference, the lady is a huge senior in the kpop music industry. Her name is Baek Ji Young. She debuted back in the early 2000s with a latin dance song but has become more well-known for her drama OSTs and ballads. She has a very sorrowful-sounding singing voice so her voice is, in my opinion, well-suited for the ballad genre. All the people you see with their names being shown are other big-time singers, musicians, and producers in the industry. Although two of them (both singers), we dont talk about anymore because they are no longer part of the music industry and i think one of them is in prison for what he did while the other one retired. Not too sure. They all did cameos as a favor to the company CEO.

in this part in mr. ambiguous the producer and staff were playing a prank as far as i know. the producer asked why they're not singing live, so they filmed again and mamamoo sang live. then they said that the way they sang wasn't good enough, which is also why they almost cried. then they started laughing and told them it was a prank. mr. ambiguous was mamamoo's debut song, so they didn't know it better. at least that's what i once read. hope i could help😊💕

@@fifizappareacts You should check out some of their bts(behind the scenes) of making the UAOY MV. In one part, MoonSunHwa are playing around in the hospital set and the CEO calls out several times to Moonbyul, trying to ask if they weren't going to rest for a bit. lol
In another, the 'boys' are seen going through a men's locker room while exclaiming UAOY at the shirtless men who are changing.
Lastly, Ricky and Yul are in a car, parked on the side of a busy street, and see a girl walking past. They try (and fail) to get her attention, and even though we know it's scripted, it's still hilarious! 🤣

As other people say on the comments, Mr Ambiguous was their debut song, and the idea of the CEO was a choral group like the 60's and he wrote Mr Ambiguous for Quincy Jhones, after a few arrangements the girls perform the song for him, and the idea of the video was artists presenting other artists, that's the reason that you see names as K Will, and other artists on the videos, I love your reactions, I'll stop here, I don't wanna make this text to large. 😻😻😻
UOAH is honestly like, kinda underrated? It helped set them up for their first win with You're The Best, sure, but the boldness of that MV, with the sexiness and storyline, first (of their MVS) to do the sped up funny ending bit, the style of the song, the vocals...wow.
(Though the color saturation makes my eyes bleed)
Um Oh Ah Yeah will always be my favourite song from them - its also an iconic encore song they sing at the end of their festivals and live performances til this day. Also the adlibs are iconic too ! This song is also what started the Mamamoo domination in South Korea getting them top 5 on Melon and one of the best girl group summer comebacks that year despite the competition from AOA, 9Muses, Sistar etc and they were only 1 years old. Also I agree, I don't consider this solely cutesy - its more funky retro synth style that I love!

Oml it’s so good to see another um oh ah yeah enthusiast, it’s my all time fav mamamoo track and and the live performances are soooo much better than the studio ver (which says a lot cus the studio ver slaps) . They always used to do ad-libs at the end shouting thanks to the mcs/ fans/ camera men/ ppl behind the scenes which was so cute. The choreo is so good and fun, kinda bouncy if I was to describe it, but doesn’t make them run out of breath so we can hear their vocals. energy is just THERE. I do hope we get another fun mamamoo title track like this. But tbh I’m happy with whatever they put out as they’re so talented everything kinda just works for them??

Thank you for explaining the hesitance around reacting to live performances from award shows or Korean shows, I understand where you're coming from. However, I strongly believe to see Mamamoo as artists and how they approach it, their live stages ESPECIALLY for award shows is it (we're gonna forget about MMA 2019 because they were trash and disrespected our girls so hard).
MAMA 2018 Japan holds a special place in all Moo Moos hearts because this was the first time Mamamoo was invited to perform at a big award show, especially MAMA - and they literally TORE UP THE STAGE. They are heavily involved in the creation of stages like this so it's why I think a lot of us are like "omg react to this!"
However, if you still don't feel comfortable I understand! I think others may have suggestions already so you have plenty to choose from!
I also love "Um oh ah yeh" it's actually rare for girlgroups to have concepts like that. The Mv is amazing but I really want you to watch the um oh ah yeh behind the scenes because they're hilarious af... really love your reaction and always looking forward to it. Love yah!

Mr Ambiguous was there debut song and is from their first EP called 'Hello' from 2014. Piano Man was from their second EP in 2014 which was called 'Piano Man'. Um Oh Ah Yeah is from their EP in 2015 called 'Pink Funky'.
Also fun fact about Piano Man, the song is ... hmm, well it's not about the man himself but his fingers... and what they can do...
I love all these 3 songs and um oh ah yeh its such a hit for me and i guess for other idols too, you can see a lot of clips out there when idols enjoy that song! My fave title track is "decalcomanie" i will never get over Moonbyul in that MV and the song always make me happy and their vocals and yes just everything, cant wait for you to come to that era! Um Oh Ah Yeah MV is about Solar falling in love with the 'boy' (Moonbyul), and she tries to catch his attention. At the end, on the bed scene, the girl who enters the room asks Moonbyul "Unnie, who is that girl?" and that's when Solar realizes that the 'boy' is not a boy but a girl with a kind of tomboy style? So that's what make it so funny.
Also, Um Oh Ah Yeah is one of the songs they made a lot of different adlibs at different stages, it's so fun to see. You must see the one when they change singing parts so Byul sings and Wheein and Solar rap.

oh yeah, on the mama 2018 and 2019 performances everyone always asks for... honestly, the best versions of those are unofficial uploads and not just to avoid copyright strikes. mnet loves putting each song in its own little video and uploading like 15 videos at a time with no one sure what order they were in, so they easily get mixed up. there are fan-uploaded ones that are the whole 8 minutes (for 2018) or nearly 11 minutes (for 2019. it also includes jyp's parts) with everything in order. manages to not lose the momentum that way, too

YES. I started watching Mamamoo during the Um Oh Ah Yeah era and it still remains to be a personal favorite. I love their new style but the Looks in this era that are just so good and iconic. and that amazing song. their lives are also so good. they were still doing improvs or things in the middle of their performances in this era.

They actually performed Um Oh Ah Yeah once with Hwasa and Moonbyul dressed up as dudes for a live stage. I think you might enjoy that. I’d also recommend watching the compilation of the various adlibs they’ve done to this song in live stages and also the time they did a part switch for Um Oh Ah Yeah where Hwasa and Moonbyul sang while Solar and Wheein rapped. Um Oh Ah Yeah truly has given Mamamoo some of their best stage adlibs they’ve ever done.

You should check out Oneus! They're a rookie group (debuted in January 2019) but they're really good and pretty underrated. They're also from RBW, so they're Mamamoo's little brothers (and also crazy talented since all of RBW family has amazing vocals and personality)

~ A song written easily (this is like Mamamoo - Starry Night, boy group version. you can really see their beautiful voices here)

I also find the um oh ah yeah mv cutesy. But i love their live stages. Moonbyul is so pretty in girly style, but what i love the most is how they put in different adlibs on every show. Piano man is sooo good live.

That little scene with the Producer (Baek Z Young) for Mr Ambiguous, she pretended to be extremely underwhelmed by Mamamoo and was criticizing them (jokingly ofc). As you can see from the members' reaction, they were extremely shocked to the point of almost crying (as this was their debut song). Then the director revealed that she was joking and they all laughed about it!
I actually didn't start liking Um Oh Ah Yeah until the live performances. They're awesome and the ad libs are a bonus.

Not gonna lie, I had a feeling you would like UOAY but I didn't expected for you to swoon over Ricky! 😂 In past Mamamoo concerts, they always sang UOAY last and it's really a fun song evem after years it was released.
Ah, I wish you could react to their Immortal Songs 2 performances! 😭 but yeah other reactors tend to pause the videos so thats probably why they didn't get a strike. I still really would like for you to listen to 'Delilah' or 'You In My Fading Memories'.
