@lunatic moonbyulyi Except it wasn't. They never did any kind of promotion with those photos, so the explanation came off sounding like a lame excuse. The quality was poor, the lighting was bad, and the pictures were taken from a long distance away, so it was not RBW's cameras, which are all top notch quality. And then the most telling part for me is that they never denied it. They could have said, "It just looks like we're kissing, but we really weren't," but they didn't.
Even dispatch gave up on them.

um oh ah yeah got them lots of recognition because of how much they'd do funny adlibs during their music show performances!! and they carried on that tradition with their you're the best music show performances as well!!
There's no MV for it, but Sleep in the Car by Mamamoo is also a bop.
So background, during their filming for an MV (i forget which), they were complaining about having to sleep in the car with make up on because their schedule was so busy that they didnt have time to take it off. And they were like, "we should totally make a song about this."
And they did. Our queens did.
(No MV again, but also, ZzZz is great which from my understanding is about being bored. That said, I also love their ability to write songs about anything and everything).
It was actually the mv for taller than you where solar and Wheein were losing their mind in having to shoot until 3am and they would have to sleep in the car because they're not done shooting. The CEO thought it was so funny that he encouraged them to write it. If you watched the mmmtv episode for it, the lyrics were almost exactly the same with their conversation.

1CM IS WHAT MADE ME A FAN OF MAMAMOO, RIGHT AFTER IT CAME OUT!!! I fell in love with this group after seeing 1cm. Actually 1cm was a prerelease for the album that You're The Best was the title track of, Melting, in 2016. I encountered the group after seeing 1 cm, and after diving into their music and live performances and behind the scenes content I was a hardcore fan by the time the actual title track came out. Mamamoo have the most electric chemistry both onstage and off, they're both so talented and so hilarious and charismatic, it's really incredible.
The lyrics "me, me 4 with sun" in Yes I am means "I love myself".
In Korean,
4 is 'sa', with is 'rang', sun is 'hae'
Combine those three and you get saranghae which means (I) love.
So she's basically saying she loves herself.
Fun fact: 1 CM is THE song that made Chloe Grace Moretz and Siedah Garret a fan of Mamamoo 🤣🤣 they stumble upon the song when they visit South Korea and instantly fell in love with them lol

Um Oh Ah Yea cracks me up to no end. Byul with that short hair looked like Xiumim from EXO and BTOB’s Minhyuk. This was the first song I actually heard from Mamamoo. Yul, Ricky and Kuku were Byul’s, Hwasa and Wheein’s guy names. Wheein and the food the entire time is a mood. The girl pretend to be a guy definitely remind me of She’s the Man and Motocrossed. And them dissing each other about the 1cm is also hilarious. Yes I am is a great song too, the lyrics. They have a song “Sleeping in the car” that was inspired by them complaining about sleeping in the car.. their CEO basically told them to write that song because of how much they complained. And the dad joke filled AZE GAG. Waggy is another silly b-side.
Mamamoo, Pokémon. Hilarious, yet still flames... they can make any concept fire.
4 incredible women who refuse to be pigeonholed. They can go quirky or serious whenever they want. No other group move so effortlessly from one style to another. 30's Jazz - 60's retro - R&B - Rock - 80's pop - Comedy songs - Rap - Disco. They can do it all. Not to mention they are the absolute queens of the power ballad.
I recommend the Mamamoo songs that are for commercials.

They are true bops, who ask nothing of their comebacks. They're even better than many of their b-sides in my opinion.

Mamamoo early days just contain chaotic and random song. for example: they mad for having not plenty of rest time that they have to sleep in the car (sleep in the car), song about how to make kimchi fried rice (recipe), song about being lazy (ZzZz), a kid song about dog (Waggy), and a song just fill with dad jokes (Aze gag). And so many more. And they actually do Pokemon OST cover live.

Hahaha I knew you would love 1cm. It's my all time fave. The MV is great...their live is even better.
They are all beautiful. And what’s sad, is by traditional Korean beauty standards……they fall short. Solar actually talks about it in an interview. Basically they were told by the label, because they are short and not pretty, they were only going to be successful based off their vocal talent and good song choices. I think it’s also why the label chose to focus more on showing their personalities in the MVs more so than other groups at the time, instead of going for the more visual route, which was the trend.

if anyone mention already. Byul literally means star. 🥰 fun fact: they were suppose to perform in Coachella 2020..but due to pandemic, its been cancelled. For me, Mamamoo is the best girl group i've ever come across. I cannot imagine the amount of fans they will gain if they were to hit the stage at Coachella 2020. something that's even more iconic about um oh ah yeah is that for their promotions moonsun went on like staged dates with byul dressed like that and dispatch released photos about solar and a mystery man

In Um Oh Ah Yeah, while Solar is playing a whole set of typical male fantasy women, she is acting like the guy. Continuing to pursue Moonbyul when "he" is clearly not interested. Also the dance sequences are set in the men's room and in a barbershop to signal that they are taking on male spaces. For their stages of this they always come up with different adlibs in the Oh My God part. Hwasa's character is Ricky and the behind the scenes for this is especially great. This is pretty much always played at Korean pride events.
Like Sleep in the Car, 1cm came out of them complaining and being told to make a song out of it. Apparently the height difference though small is enough that they need to adjust the mike in the recording studio when they go from one to the other.
I have a theory about the celebration at the end of You're the Best. The last shot of each of them with the guy (a member of Vromance) it looks like they are getting tired of helping him with things. So they are initially upset about a new group of women catching his attention but then actually relieved. This is another where they improvise a new adlib with each stage.
That's why I love mamamoo their so funny 😭
