      @@LearnEnglish_lifetips yes, level the playing field and roll with the punches are expressions quite interesting, nevertheless, is really helpful as well "draw the line". Would it be like to "set a boundary", isn't it?

    Marina, I've been following ya for 3 years and tho being an Indian I couldn't speak in Indian accent and sometimes it gets a little hard for me to understand Indian English accent when conversation starts goin' fast, cuz I speak only in kinda American accent but am pretty satisfied with my accent cuz it's way more relaxing to pronounce. Wanna thank you Marina, gotta do much more things, want to meet you once in my life, Love ya 🤍

      @@SupaHot7 yeah for sure, but sometimes in some Indian ya know web series, when conversation goes so fast, I really can't make out things what actually they're saying, but when they speak a bit slow, I can understand

    Congratulations for your achievement!! I was living in Texas for 15 years and returned to Tokyo last year, I thought of applying for US citizenship but I didn't because I needed to give up Japanese citizenship, so I'm very happy for your life decision!
    Anyway, I can tell that I'm losing my English skills every day and your videos have been very practical for me to remind myself how American people speak, I really appreciate that!! Thank you!!

      I decided study english, hoping one day get a job and help my people,my Family, I am from a poor family from Brazil,in Amazonas,rural area I am fisherman, I think you've heard before, places in Amazonas that are covered by water when the river "rises up" (I don't know how to say) ,the water covers whole the earth. It is when the amount of the river is increasing. It is a hard time for us. And I so far,I didnt find a job,I don't have enough money to go to the city ,but I am thinking about start recording videos from my small channel, I havana stared post videos in english but if you guys help me ,I will start it. Please, comment here if there is someone that want to help me.

    Native English speaker here. "Taking the high road" meaning is more of not allowing others bad behavior influence you to match their bad behavior.
    "She was so rude and insulted me, but I'm going to take the high road, and ignore her."

    Great video! Thank you for posting this. I find it sometimes difficult to get myself "immersed" in English as I am not a native and not living in an English-speaking country. Idioms definitely provide this "immersion". Plus, talking to my toddler exclusively in English ;-)

    Something that i find extremely helpfull is to try to use them all in a made up converstation.
    For e.g: you need to stop getting hammerd and pay the piper.
    Or
    You nedd to stop rolling with the punches and draw the line for him , i say it's worth a shot ,stop making a great deal out of it.

    The idiom "on fire" is very interesting. I'm Hungarian, we also use something similar, but it means the exact opposite in Hungarian in my country. "He was burning" means failed or humiliated or something like these. "Fiery", this is said for animals during mating season. :)
