Hello 👋 Thanks for your comment and also your question! The chords repeat in the same order throughout the song. The verses and choruses have the same chord sequence. In this song it’s easier to say the C chord lasts for the line ‘when the night has come’ Am ‘and the land is dark’ etc. Does that help? 🎸
Hello Jo! I was looking for some tips for playing 'Stand by me' and your video came to me. I've just gone around your channel, pretty cool ! I was wondering which brand/model is your guitar. It seemed to be a Taylor, but I cpouldn't see any video in your channel talking about your instrumment. I'm willing to buy a new guitar and started looking at Taylor and Martin guitars. I'm from Brazil and unfortunatelly we don't have official ressellers of these brands, so, looking at UA-cam videos help me to get to know the different models of Taylor and Martin. Hey 😊👌 thanks for your message! Really happy you’re enjoying the lessons My Taylor is a 214ce. It’s a really excellent guitar. Warm sound, resonates lovely, clear individual notes. Really effortless and smooth to play. I like this guitar a lot and would recommend as a decent acoustic. I play it with 12 gauge Elixir strings. Nice combo. I don’t have a video where I talk about it but I’m happy to answer any questions you have 👍
@@jobywaterguitartuition Hi, Jo ! Thank you for answer. It was was very kind from you. I've just seen it at Amazon for about USD 1,300/1,400 . But look how terrible is for us, Brazilians: when I selected it to be delivered in my address (Brazil), it doubles the price because Amazon adds import taxes. It's insane. Anyway, I'm willing to the US by the end of the year to buy the guitar, it'll be cheaper. I don't mean to abuse of your kindness, but if you couldgive me this info, it'd help me a lot: I think this model uses steel strings and I need a NYLON one. So, I'd like to know: which would be an intermediate NYLON model from Taylor and Martin ? And which would be the best NYLON model from Taylor and Martin ? And finally, for nylon models, would you reccommend, Taylor or Martin ?
Wow, they really drive the price up ay! Sounds like a trip to the US will help. I honestly can’t recommend something I haven’t played so not sure on nylon models to tell you about. I would imagine if Taylor does a nylon string version of my model it will be excellent 👍 happy shopping!
Thank you very much! 😊 I will do. I’m from West Yorkshire but have lived in Liverpool for 20 years so my accent has a bit of a twist these days 😆 what songs are you learning at the moment?
@@jobywaterguitartuition I've been learning Guitar myself through online instructors like yourself. I'm probably past beginner level but I wouldn't say I was at intermediate yet. Can play and switch quite well through the open chords and can do the bar chords. My God it took me ages to get F chord. It felt like I was trying to catch a fly with chopsticks. I play it the traditional way. I can't do that way you play it there. I don't want to be Jimi Hendrix although we do have something in common because I also play left handed. If I could play about a dozen easy 4 chord songs (even with the odd bar chord and palm muting) I'd be happy. Anyway you keep up the good work because I'm sure I speak for many when I say your lessons are enjoyable and not to difficult to follow👍
It sounds like you’re doing great! Well done getting the F chord. That breaks some people 😂 Best of luck with your playing going forwards and again thanks for the feedback. It’s really nice to hear the lessons are working well 😊
Like simple songs the best my trouble seems to be flat picking fiddle tunes or anything with a flat pick, a thumb pick yes. But that's what keeps me trying
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed. I’m toying with that idea. I try to play chunks of the song slowed down and to speed with descriptions of song structure. I think it’s possible to make videos too long sometimes so have debated playing the songs through. Thanks for the feedback I really appreciate it. Good luck with your playing 😊👍🎸
@@jobywaterguitartuition That’s a fair point about length of video and not making the videos too long. Anyway I enjoy your style of video a lot. Best of luck with the channel. Subscribed.
Not that transposition isn't a option, I learned this song in G maj, E min, C maj, and D maj. I stopped in to see how this sounded instead. I never thought about trying to sing it in a higher key. Ironically, I just looked up Ben E. King's version and it was written in the key of A. It was a nice video and I enjoyed it. Thanks.
Yes it’s all good. I put it in the vid description. The original is in A but the F# can be challenging for beginners so I wanted to transpose it to a key that gave us the option to add in the distinctive bass line. Having a ref point like that can really help people to recognise a song when they’re learning and it can make it much more enjoyable. For the original key with my chords you would have to capo 9th fret. Thanks for your feedback. I’m glad you enjoyed the lesson. Do you sing along too when you play? 😊👍🎸
Ah glad you enjoyed the tutorial. This was for beginner guitarists. Covering the guitar part. There will be songs in which I include singing too but for the most part this is a guitar tutorial. Many thanks. 🎸😊
Hi, thanks for the feedback. I’ve put chapters in the video so you can jump to play through sections of the lesson at your leisure. There is a play through of the Intro & verses at 9:11 and a play through of the chorus section at 6:03. I hope that helps. Do let me know! Good luck with your learning 🎸😊
2 weeks is hardly anything 😊 keep going! Is this the first song you’ve learned? Try some simpler chords changes like this one - ua-cam.com/video/9tel6q1RkBI/v-deo.html Let me know how you get on 👍🎸
@jobywaterguitartuition I understand 2 weeks isn't long but trust me I dony plan to quit im terrible at everything in life I'm determined to be able to play I practice everyday for no less then 30 min lol and thank you for that link im gonna practice that
@@ajlooney1358 great. 😂 That’s it, keep going! 30mins a day is more than a lot of people do, if you maintain that you’ll see decent improvements. The Stand By Me chords are more stretched out chord shapes so they’ll take longer to get if you’ve only just started. Totally doable though. The Ain’t No Sunshine chords are a lot easier to get used to in the beginning 👍
I am beginner over 70😀and first time I see you great approach teaching the playing techniques. Thank you. Any basic advice for beginners like me, where to start learning besides what you are teaching? Many musicians have their own ways, I would like to get your advice as well🌹🤗🙏
Hi! Great that you are learning 😊 thanks for the lovely comment 🙏 It’s true, it’s good to learn from different people. There a lots of things to learn. I assume you have an acoustic guitar? My most basic advice is to say make sure you are playing often, this will make the learning more effective. Make sure you repeat things using the same fingers (avoid swapping and changing as this also takes longer for you to develop the muscle memory). Do you play with fingers or a pick? How long have you being playing? Do you sing along too? Answer these and I can give you some direction 😊👍
Thanks for your feedback and for watching the lesson Joe! 😊 Are you a new beginner? Tell me more about your experience and I’ll be able to shed some light 🎸👍

That breaks some people 😂
Best of luck with your playing going forwards and again thanks for the feedback. It’s really nice to hear the lessons are working well 😊
une de mes premières chansons que j'ai apprise quand j'étais debutant +10 ans lol ^^ good approach of the guitar sorry for my bad english
Thank you. I’m happy it made sense to you and thanks for the feedback 👍🎸😊
Like simple songs the best my trouble seems to be flat picking fiddle tunes or anything with a flat pick, a thumb pick yes. But that's what keeps me trying
Keep on trying! Did you learn with a thumb pick first?

Awesome 😊 thank you 🎸👍
Lovely lesson - Thank you. One suggestion is maybe play a good portion of the song at the beginning or end so everyone can hear how it will sound.
Subscribed.
@@29memyselfandi really appreciate it. Thanks for the support 👍
Zabardast, cheers from Canadà.....
Awesome place. Where in Canada are you? 😊👍🎸
Super, multumim !❤
Thank you so much 🎸👍
Not that transposition isn't a option, I learned this song in G maj, E min, C maj, and D maj.
@@jobywaterguitartuition , yes...
@@christopherparsons3224 nice one! Good fun way to play songs 👍
Gostei demais, mas poderia por um botão de tradução em português ❤.
Thank you! ❤ I’ll look into this and see what I can do 😊🎸
I was expecting you to sing the song alongwith playing the Guitar ! But Alas ! You didn't ?😅 How can one learn the song this way ?
Ah glad you enjoyed the tutorial. This was for beginner guitarists. Covering the guitar part. There will be songs in which I include singing too but for the most part this is a guitar tutorial. Many thanks. 🎸😊
New sub👍
Great, thanks, glad you’re enjoying the lessons 😊👍🎸
I always learn faster when there is an introduction to the song before teaching it. That way you get to hear what the song sounds like
Hi, thanks for the feedback. I’ve put chapters in the video so you can jump to play through sections of the lesson at your leisure. There is a play through of the Intro & verses at 9:11 and a play through of the chorus section at 6:03.
I hope that helps. Do let me know! Good luck with your learning 🎸😊
I'm an eternal beginner. Always learning and never it is so much.
Hey! Me too 😊 we’re always beginners really. Cheers to always learning! 🎸

Oke freind
Hello! 👍😊🎸
I'm a beginner and honestly I've been playing 2 weeks now and still can't switch between cords im so bad at playing its hard to watch lol 😢
2 weeks is hardly anything 😊 keep going!
Is this the first song you’ve learned? Try some simpler chords changes like this one - ua-cam.com/video/9tel6q1RkBI/v-deo.html
Let me know how you get on 👍🎸
@jobywaterguitartuition I understand 2 weeks isn't long but trust me I dony plan to quit im terrible at everything in life I'm determined to be able to play I practice everyday for no less then 30 min lol and thank you for that link im gonna practice that
@@ajlooney1358 great.
👍👍😍😍😍😍
🎸😊 thank you!

Yes! Absolutely 🎸😎
I can't believe you didn't play the song in its entirety , playing little bits doesn't really work
