  • We show you how to increase the battery life of the Garmin Forerunner 945 GPS watch. Although the Garmin 945 has a 40-hour battery life in GPS tracking mode, and 36 hours in GPS + Glonass tracking mode, there are some watch features that consume a lot of battery power. The good news is there are about 28 different settings that can be changed to increase the battery life. We'll show you how to navigate to and change these settings, and we prioritize the top 7 settings that should increase battery life significantly. This is a step-by-step video tutorial.

    The biggest drain (I think) from my 945 was not turning audio/vibration alerts off while following a route with the map function. There had been an update from my last trail run to my 100, so when I pressed go, the function appeared out of the blue. Not wanting to stop it to change it I carried on. 17 hours later it was on its last legs. I only just made it to my drop bag to plug it in!

    This is a great watch, thank you for the walk through between the functions. I'm using the 245 for one year and it is still preforming great in terms of battery life

    Super helpful!! Im racing my first full distance IM this year and reconfigured my FR945 based on the information you provided. Really hope it can last the entire way through. I have an edge 820 that I will extend the display on during the bike but throughout the triathlon my watch will be ant+ connected to hrm and power pedals. Do you think it will last will all settings set to the lowest possible?

      Thanks very much. Best wishes for your Ironman. I would charge shortly before the start. Yes, reduce settings as much as possible. I also deactivate my chest HRM strap and my Stryd footpod. In 100 mile ultras, I carry a tiny battery pack (separate video), maybe on your running leg just in case?

    These are great tips, but I've never had trouble with my 235 battery life. I'm not an ultra runner however. I charge about every four days.

      Thanks for your kind feedback. I owned the 235 for many years, and until I transitioned to ultras, battery life as you said was fine. I ran my first 100-miler using the 235 and a portable charger.

    Couple of 945 garmin questions - does it save more battery to use the HRM pro instead of wrist monitor and sync it later?
    Also - if I need to do navigation I heard it’s better to only flick to the map screen when you need it rather than have it on all the time? Thanks.

    What’s your thoughts on the new garmin?

    • @RunFreeandStrong
      @RunFreeandStrong  3 роки тому +2

      If you're referring to the Enduro, it's essentially a stripped down version of the the Garmin Fenix 6 (standard, not the Pro) with a new (less accurate?) Sony sensor and battery, all to extend battery life to 80 hours. Yes it has the Ultra Run mode and ultra and trail features (which Garmin announced would be coming to the Fenix 6 and 945 with the spring firmware upgrade), but gone are music, Wifi, and possibly accuracy. Battery life in the 945 and Fenix 6 Pro is more than enough to run a 100 miler. I did a quick comparison here ua-cam.com/video/kUHZNAO_NDE/v-deo.html
