I haven’t found a need for that. I had four ( 2 stock & 2 gain modded) 2203s back in the day but preferred the stock ones and sold the gain modded ones and I still have those two beasts from ’84 & ’85. Plus a stock 2203 Zakk Wylde signature 😎.
The JCM800 preamp has 3 gain stages with a cold clipper configuration while the Silver Jubilee has a plate fed tonestack instead of the cathode follower circuit found in the 800 which will also change the sound. The Silver Jubilee also has an extra capacitor at the input which will also shave some lows in a similar way that the dc blocking cap does in the overdrive pedals like the Super Overdrive. I've been studying the jubilee a lot recently and just found your video, great job! I just heard you say that they are similar but interestingly enough they are quite different topology but yield similar sounds. The tone stack on the silver jubilee also has a very unique set up. I agree that the super overdrive makes marshalls and most amps sound totally killer. I've been working on a mod that compresses the amp in a similar way to the SD-1 but with all tube gain stages and a little diode clipping (that I want to make variable). I love tube amps but that synthesis of some solid state to add compression and sustain is helpful especially for emulating 80's hard rock and heavy metal. Cheers from the USA, my friend!
I love your channel have just watched lots of your vids with a coffee, i have been playing guitar for about 1 year and love your lessons on Zakk Wylde im starting to learn more of that style and i find your vids very helpful.
Great display of how the picking dynamics are responded to by the different amps. I have the mini jubilee and you’ve done a great demo and good comparison here. I have sometimes wondered whether I should have gone for the mini 800, but I like the diverse eq tone options on mine. Very versatile. Good video 👍🏻
I always loved the Silver Jubilees and this here too. They have this special tone, this very specific edge that the other Marshalls don't. I love all sorts of Marshalls and have had many different ones already. But the Silver Jubilee will always be special. Great video again, mate!
It seems to have a much chunkier low end than the 800. However the 800 seems to have better mids. but who knows what his setting on the mids are on the SJ. There's a huge difference between 6 & 7, not so much on the 800.I like the Jub for that chunk.
I really want to buy the Silver Jubilee or the JCM 800 version of these studio heads this weekend and these videos are making it hard to decide. You make them both sound so awesome! The songs you’re playing at the start of the videos to demo them are awesome too! Looking forward to the next one 💪😎🎸
@@EugeValovirta230V Haha no, its just right! The people love some humor in videos, we dont have to be all serious when it comes to gear all the time... :D
I have a studio jubilee and it sounds incredible. Very versatile. I use it mostly to add some mid and higher end clarity to a clean Dr Z Z-Lux. I love playing old 70’s rock with it, and it goes nicely into blues rock territory due to the clipping feature (pulling out the gain knob). That’s why people like Fruciente, Slash and Joe Bonammassa use it. I had a 100 watt jube but I like this one much better. The 100 watt was way too loud. This, along with the JCM 800 and the Studio plexi, are all amazing amps. Thank you Marshall, for the studio line! Euge - best playing always! PS - for all,of you that say the amp is fizzy, the EQ is so robust that you can so easily remove “fizzy”. Every Marshall I’ve had can sound disturbing on the hi end, but part of owning a Marshall is tuning it to taste with your EQ and presence knob.
That song ripped! Great review of the Mini Jube. I noticed quite a difference in volume between the Mini Jube and the Mini 800 with the mini 800 being quite a bit louder. I still pick the 800 over the Mini Jube. I've played the Mini Jube through a Marshall 1936 2x12 with V30's and I thought it had a harsh high end that I couldn't eq out. Thanks for the video. Loving this series of reviews 🤘🤘🤘
Holy crap, I'd never know this was EL84s listening blind. HUGE sound for that lil beast. Oh, and wicked axe mastery as usual, Euge. Love the string break, jus givin'r! \m/ \m/
I like 800’s,but I am a Jubilee guy....I have an 87 that I bought brand new back then....The EQ on the Jubilee is plate driven,so it’s more active...like you said,a little change makes a big difference....Jubilee is definitely one of the most unique Marshall’s ever made....sounds bigger, with more thump than the 800....a little more scooped and darker sounding.....Great video....now,on to the little Plexi!!
Another great review with killer playing! The Jubilee is really good, but I prefer the Classic. The Jubilee, like my 2210, sounds like it has a tendency to get fizzy with more gain dialed in. That's why I will rarely go over 5-ish on the 2210 and then use a pedal(s) to drive it more from there. I agree with the other post that the Classic seems more responsive and has more dynamics. The Jubilee sounds a little squishy where the Classic sounds more aggressive. I really like that Marshall decided to use EL34's in the Studio Series. I think it makes a big difference. Is a review of the Vintage coming soon?
Sounds awesome with/without boost. It's a fantastic little amp! I'd say that the little 800 sounds a tad better with the SD-1 in front of it, but only marginally.
A tamed JCM800 :). Great job as always and thanks because you made me listen to my amp rather than looking at the knobs' position and now I can finally dial it better.

both great amps. the jubilee sound is classic marshall and clean, polished, maybe a bit "studio," and processed/compressed? doesnt sound quite as fun to play as the 800 which sounds like you said - less forgiving, but more raw, raunchy and full with more soul to it, with that low end that lots of marshalls seem to be lacking
A friend of mine has brought me a jcm studio to argentina and I've been thinking that maybe I would been happier with the jubilee (those amps are waay hard to find here and you can’t check them at any store). It’s clear both amps are great but seen the way you enjoyed the jcm made me change my mind, I'm relieved I went with the 800

I really like your reviews. I have this amp and it is a beast! It would be great to see your review of the Orange or 15 (even if you seem more a Marshall guy :) ) Cheers
Have you tried by passing those diode clippings? (I 'm guessing you already know this) On the Clean channel, put the Output Master & Input Gain 7, Get a Plexi sound and it's much brighter like the 800. Then add you overdrive pedal and see how it sounds.
Amazing video and playing man, what I miss in these little beasts of amps is the option for silent recording (without a cab and a loadbox included), I think that using those amps even in 5 watts is enough to get my neighbors a reason to kill me!!
Thanks! That could be cool but I’ve found that when you start to add all kinds of gadgets into your main product, sometimes the quality of the main product might suffer. If you know what I mean.
@@EugeValovirta230V Yes, I got it, but I think this is going to be the future for small amps for the "bedroom" players, there are a couple that have it. We are lucky, the technology is in our side if we don´t want to use digital amps, different IRs, IR loaders...We just have to play...that´s the difficult part!!! Like always was. Keep up the good work!!!
Indeed. When I started back in ’89 I had a small combo with no gain / distortion at all. The good thing was that it was really hard to get any decent sounds from it so it made me practise even harder. After several years of practising about 4-8 hours every day paid it’s dues and I sound like myself no matter what gear I’m using 😎. And actually most of the time when I practise (I still do a lot) I play just with the guitar without any amp etc. cos if something sounds good like that it will most likely sound good when it’s amplified 😎👌.
JCM 800 is more brutal and less compressed, silver jubilee has a little bit of different gain, a little bit less grainy. Both sounds great I think it is up to personal preference
Late to the party but really nice demo. If the 800 sounds better I’m really floored. The reactive loads sound awesome as well. What speaker 🔈 are you simulating?
Thanks! The IR is from Jens Bogren and if I remember correct it’s a Mesa cab w/ V30s mic’d with several mics. But that’s secondary ’cos if it sounds good it’s good 👌😎.

Thanks! For these demos absolutely not ’cos that wouldn’t make any sense to do that in an amp demo. Well I don’t really do that anyway ’cos when I record something my goal is always to record a sound that is good from the ”get go”. I don’t believe in the ”fix it in the mix” at all.

Thank you Euge for all the awesome videos! I love the sound of this amp. I play a Mesa Mark V:25 and it is dark sounding to my ears. Question: Does the 5 watt mode sound open like the regular full wattage mode? I play at home but to get the power tubes working the master has to be up.
THANK YOU for responding! I saw another video that showed the 5 watt mode sounding exactly like the 20 watt. I will purchase this amp soon. Your videos including this amp have been a blessing! Your videos are so organized and informative! My new favorite guitarist! God bless, Dr. Steve
Thats a bad ass little amp, .....I had that and the matching 2x12 slant cab one year. I sold them to make a truck paymemt, worst mistake ever!....good grief.....Egue that beginning song was awesome dude!...kicks maximum ass bud!
On the song I doubled the rhythm gtr after I filmed myself and they’re panned hard L&R so that creates a nice natural wide chorus-kinda effect and on the solo there’s a dly - pitch shift - rev plugin (in the pic upper left corner) which I added in the post. If I used (can’t remember anymore) clean sound in the review part of the video I most likely used BOSS CE-5 in front of the amp ’cos it’s my fav cho and the only one I have 👌😎.
Have you tried any of Zack's drop pedal tricks with the hybrid string set downtuned? For example, I played through a malmsteen set up once and it was like air guitar, he had a hybred set of size 7 strings with huge bass bottom strings, tuned down to C and back to normal with the drop pedal, super hot pick ups like single coil stacked humbuckers, scalloped fingerboard and only plexis, i could not believe how easy it was to play on his guitars, you only focus on the music and going for crazy speed cause of the accuracy with the feel., i got rid of my digitech but never tried Zacks idea tuned down., thought maybe you have.
For your style of guitar, would you rather have this Jubilee over the 20 watt Friedmans? I don’t play live. Just record with Neural DSP. But I want a 15 to 30 watt head for home. You and I play the same style I wanted your opinion on the best head in that wattage range. Thanks bro
This makes me miss my old silver 2550 quite a lot now :( Did you ever A/B a new SD-1 against yours? When I did that with my old beat up SD-1 the old one won over a newly bought one by far.
😎 I have a new one (I bought it in late 2019 on Cyhra’s European Tour) on my Cyhra live board and sounds pretty much the same to me. Having said that I’ve only compared them in a live situation and not in the studio so can’t say for sure.

Sure. It’s just a matter of personal preferences ’cos the majority of a sound is anyways in the player’s hands: how he/she plays and what. But since Zakk has been using 800s boosted with SD-1 basically his whole career I’d say Boss SD-1 into 800 is the safest bet 😎👌.
Slash used a modded Plexi on Appetite and has also used 800s and obviously Jubes 😎. My favourite amp of all time is 800 but Jube has better clean sound so…😎
Euge, I’m sure you can make a broom and tomato can sound good. On another note, my bridge pickup in my eclipse was sounding a little off. I adjusted the 6 screws across the pickup ever so slightly. It’s sounds alive now. Why is that?

Boosted that thing sounds so fucking good.
🤟💪👌
I've tried a ton of overdrives, but always come back to the Boss SD1. Have you tried the Waza version? That might be a cool video.
Ive tried SD1 last weekend for a first time on reheshal in combo with my Origin and im very suprised, i like it a lot as i can hear myself clearly in mix, great punch character.
Yeah I have and I’ve used it on some of my videos and I’ve done a comparison video with that and the standard SD-1 👌😎
Yeah SD-1 rules 💪
I really like your reviews. I have this amp and it is a beast!
It would be great to see your review of the Orange or 15 (even if you seem more a Marshall guy :) )
Cheers
Thanks Marco! It is 💪.
If I get my hands on one then for sure 👌😎.
Have you tried by passing those diode clippings? (I 'm guessing you already know this) On the Clean channel, put the Output Master & Input Gain 7, Get a Plexi sound and it's much brighter like the 800. Then add you overdrive pedal and see how it sounds.
👌😎
@@EugeValovirta230V I re watched it. Next time i'll take my ADHD meds 🤣
😁👌
Euge I will take one of each of the mini heads.
Okay I'm being greedy the 800 will do.
Thanks in advance lol
Great video as always.
😊👍.
Thanks!
Great plays You're inspire me.
Thanks!
JCM 800 is more brutal and less compressed, silver jubilee has a little bit of different gain, a little bit less grainy. Both sounds great I think it is up to personal preference
Indeed 👌.
I owned a 2525h too , but you make me want to switch to the JCM800 studio .... sweet sound
Both are fantastic amps but I have to admit that I’m more of an 800 guy 😎💪.
I had both preferred the silver jubilee, more gain more low end just more aggressive, i was a bit underwhelmed with the 800.
@@paulevans6925 May i ask your opinion. I have the 2525h. There's an SC20h for sale on C.L. Are they just too similar? Is the 800 brighter? thx
Jube is based on the 800 but is a bit smoother and has more gain on tap. 800 is more aggressive & in your face 💪.
@@EugeValovirta230V Well I already have my wife "in my face" if I don't do something right.🤣🤣. Going to look at a used one this afternoon. Thanks for the reply. Later dude!
JCM800 WINNNNN !!!
Great video. I would however love a little more comparison of clean sound.
Thanks!
@@EugeValovirta230V I have Marshall Mini Silver 2525 Combo, but experiencing samo Tube rattle, so need to change to a head+cab. This video is just what I needed to compare two of my first choices.
Euge, love the videos. Are you adding any eq other then the amp. Sounds amazing. 🤘🏻❤️🤘🏻
Thanks! For these demos absolutely not ’cos that wouldn’t make any sense to do that in an amp demo. Well I don’t really do that anyway ’cos when I record something my goal is always to record a sound that is good from the ”get go”. I don’t believe in the ”fix it in the mix” at all.
@@EugeValovirta230V makes perfect sense. The mids are very rich sounding. Not harsh but still in your face. Thank you for your response. Much appreciated.
Steve Morse used Silver Jubilee in 1990
Good action playing. Great sound
Thanks!
Thanks!
Oh I don’t remember anymore. Sorry!
THANK YOU for responding! I saw another video that showed the 5 watt mode sounding exactly like the 20 watt. I will purchase this amp soon. Your videos including this amp have been a blessing!
Your videos are so organized and informative! My new favorite guitarist!
God bless, Dr. Steve
Thanks man! Really glad to hear!
Thats a bad ass little amp, .....I had that and the matching 2x12 slant cab one year. I sold them to make a truck paymemt, worst mistake ever!....good grief.....Egue that beginning song was awesome dude!...kicks maximum ass bud!
Thanks Michael!
🤘 u the man
🙏🤟
very nice solo!
Thanks!
Is the chorus effect (sounds like some) a post plugin or ?
Not really. I just use heavy strings.
great demos
Thanks!
For your style of guitar, would you rather have this Jubilee over the 20 watt Friedmans? I don’t play live. Just record with Neural DSP. But I want a 15 to 30 watt head for home. You and I play the same style I wanted your opinion on the best head in that wattage range. Thanks bro
The JCM800 is my favourite of these 20watt heads which doesn’t really come as a surprise since 800 2203 is my all time favourite amp 😎💪.
hahahah 18:20 tells everthing 🤘🤘🤘
😁
Sick !!! I prefer the 800 more thickness.
😎💪
Ya mon Good job
🙏🤟
Cool beast to say the least
Indeed 💪
Heyzoosdefuckingcrisco. 😳
Euge + 🧹 + EMGs +
just a walkie talkie =
⚡️🔥☠️
😁
This makes me miss my old silver 2550 quite a lot now :(
Did you ever A/B a new SD-1 against yours? When I did that with my old beat up SD-1 the old one won over a newly bought one by far.
😎
I have a new one (I bought it in late 2019 on Cyhra’s European Tour) on my Cyhra live board and sounds pretty much the same to me. Having said that I’ve only compared them in a live situation and not in the studio so can’t say for sure.
@@EugeValovirta230V I got mine back in '90/91 and used :D
Some capacitors probably aged well then haha
😎👌.
I bought the one I have in the studio around the same time but as new 😊.
I love your guitars. Are them esp customs ? Could you so kind to share the model? Thxs
Thanks!
The ESPs are all made at the Japan Custom shop and are one of a kind 👌😎. Here’s info about most of my guitars:

Can you play Zakk Wylde pride and glory on this well? Or is the mini 800 better?
@@EugeValovirta230V I'm torn because I also play a ton of 80s and especially guns n roses ...
Slash used a modded Plexi on Appetite and has also used 800s and obviously Jubes 😎. My favourite amp of all time is 800 but Jube has better clean sound so…😎
Cool bro!!!!
Thanks!
You are wellcome!!!!
What is the tuning of the guitar? Sounds so nice.
If I remember correct it was Drop-C on this one 😎.
@@EugeValovirta230V thank you
You’re welcome! 🙏
Jubilee are instant slash 🍻🍻🍻
👌😎
Euge, I’m sure you can make a broom and tomato can sound good. On another note, my bridge pickup in my eclipse was sounding a little off. I adjusted the 6 screws across the pickup ever so slightly. It’s sounds alive now. Why is that?
😎🙏.
The screws are the ones that ”pick” the sound on passive pickups so by adjusting them you can affect how they pick up the sound 😎💪.
@@EugeValovirta230V awesome. You are the man.
☺️🙏
amp monster))
😎💪
Hi Euge, Any change to check marshall origin 20h for next videos?? I think I m gonna buy its cheap than other😊
Hi, I don’t have one but if I get my hands on one someday then for sure 👌.
👏👏👏
Great video, thanks! It's time to turn both amps in stereo ! /,,/
Thanks! 😎👌
