    in my head canon the recruiter is observing the player because of rumors about the player dealing with multiple hunters and rouge agents. And the recruiter is there to see if these rumors are true. Aaaaannnnd if they are, trying to recruit the player. As far as i know this could be to slowly introduce a future game, dlc or show from the perspective of a hunter

      It’d be a dreadful POV, we’ve already killed a bunch of named Black Tusk units who were meant to impress the recruiter, their robotics like Sparkle, and white tusks. Interesting thought.

      I'd say it's incredibly likely that the Sheriff (the PC agent) is being scouted by McManus for their skill if not for the Hunter program. The Sheriff's feats aren't exactly rumors either. Black Tusk knows the Sheriff killed the Hunter during the Schaeffer Manhunt, knows they took out Keener's cell in New York, and the Recruiter was there to observe the Sheriff's skills first-hand during the Captain Lewis Manhunt.
      Rumor has it that the entire Division will be declared Rogue in the upcoming winter in-universe, so this could be setting up a big confrontation between McManus and his Hunters, Sokolova and the Black Tusk, and the remnants of the Division.

    While I find the content intriguing, I've noticed that the pacing of the story tends to be on the slower side. Additionally, the seasons appear to be extending further and further. Having you here to provide explanations feels almost like an integral part of the experience, and I'm certain I'm not alone in this sentiment. When I'm engrossed in the game itself, comprehending even half of the narrative becomes quite a challenge.
    Hence, I extend my gratitude to you for creating this enlightening video. Nonetheless, I do hope that the game developers address this concern at some point. Perhaps incorporating a succinct cinematic cutscene or a similar approach could be beneficial. Covering the storyline through scattered recordings over several lengthy seasons doesn't seem to be the most effective strategy.
    Thank you so so much for making this videos !!!

      @@Voltage256 Yeah, I get that the slower pace has its benefits, like in your case. But I really hope they could make a short video or something at the start or end of each season to explain what's happening. Not everyone is super into the story - most players just have fun and enjoy the bits of the story they can follow.
      and its a shame because its a good story, so if they want more players to understand it, they need to do something about it.

    The recruiter could also still be working for Calvin, and they are trying to take away the best agent that Manny has. The player character is basically an unstoppable wrecking ball of destruction that just demolishes anyone or anything that stands in their way, Keener, Black Tusk, Rogue agents, hunters. You name it the player has killed it. Anyone with a lick of sense would want an asset like that on their side and not working for their enemy.
    Also, I think the "asset" that is mentioned by Sokolova is the hunter that is using its drone to spy on Manny at the castle.

    • @akatsukii-_-

      The only reason the player agent is a op wrecking ball is cause of plot armor without polt armor we be dead so fast

    • @Dopesaur
      @Dopesaur Рік тому +15

      @@akatsukii-_- @Zipa7 I mean, that is true in the sense that canonically the player character cannot and has not wiped out more people than the population of Washington. The makers of the game cannot canonize the 'gamey' parts of the missions the player character does.
      But setting that aside, even if you only take confirmed kills that are story relevant in some way AND do it on a hardcore character, the player character is still essentially as dangerous as a terminator. Which is why they sort of have to hand wave how powerful the Sheriff is.
      Weirdly enough, Faye Lau acknowledges (In Faye's manhunt mission) that the main character is almost always silent, which is sort of creepy? Like, imagine that Manny has in his employ an Agent with a ridiculous killcount, countless successful missions and NEVER SPEAKS. That's true hunter material right there. Exactly why the Sheriff is an excellent candidate for the 'hunter program'.
      P.S. I'm passionate about this thing specifically, because I absolutely love games that recognize in canon how seriously powerful the main character is. 'Tis my kink.
      They do it in a game called Outriders. The game ain't super good, but it's a great power fantasy.

    • @Zipa7
      @Zipa7 Рік тому +5

      @@Dopesaur It's only partially ludo narrative dissonance (when there is a conflict between a video game's narrative in the non-interactive elements and the narrative told through the gameplay) the Sheriff still defeats and in most cases kills anything that the various factions and Black Tusk/the hunters / rogues can throw at them, they are basically the Master Chief of the Division universe. Not to mention, they also took out all the Warlords of NY quickly and effectively.
      I agree that the Sheriff is prime material for the recruiter, and I'm sure that Manny and the others like Kelso have to be at least a bit concerned about the psychopathic traits the sheriff has, the silent treatment especially, they don't ever cry out in pain or even flinch when shot, even the black tusk and the other faction enemies do that much. It's also likely one of the reasons Kelso is feeling useless and has bugged out to NY, the sheriff has made her not really needed in the field.

    There's a LOT to wrap our heads around this season. The first part of which is that Manny is WAY out of his depth and has absolutely no idea what Natalia is doing. Thankfully he's being advised by Mari and Wally who seem to have their heads screwed on straight. But we also have to remember that Manny isn't Division. Hes JTF. He never went through that selection process. He ended up in DC because his unit was activated, and many of them went over to the True Sons. Kelso is the Division agent that helped us when we came to DC, and she's moved back to NYC because she feels that she can make more of a difference there. So maybe that's why Manny is struggling so much. Division Agents were recruited to be the last line against a crisis. Which is why Manny seems so defeated when others keep going.
    But it absolutely feels this season like we're being recruited. Whether that's because the Recruiter is taking things into their own hands or because McManus is playing more than one game we don't know yet. I have a feeling that McManus gives his agents considerable flexibility in achieving their goals, and it would not surprise me at all if he's playing both sides. He does seem like a bad guy, but he also could just be like a politician that wants to make sure they're on the winning team no matter what.
    Seems like next season will be all about tracking down Vikram Malik, he who threw us under the bus with the Hyenas. Hopefully we'll get more insight into what is going on with the Black Tusk and what they're trying to do there. It's getting on for a year since the Green Poison was launched and it's going to be starting to get cold again. People will need food and warmth, not just in the areas we see in game but everywhere. Maybe that's what Natalia is playing for.
    Of course, one character we've seen absolutely nothing of in TD2 is April Kelleher. According to the events in The Division - Broken Dawn we know April made it to DC with information on how to create an antiviral. And the timing of that seems to be around the fall of the Castle settlement. Yet I dont think we've ever seen any of that in game. I have to wonder how that might eventually play into things. We know April got that information to the White House but the discovery of the viral reactors at the Pentagon almost seemed more like chance than anything else. But maybe that's just another tangent.
    Anyway. Still lots to discover and hopefully we'll get more insight on what is happening soon! Either way I'm looking forward to it.
    Thank you again for all your work. Love it. And love being able to speculate here. Just DM me if you want to go down a conspiracy rabbit hole. You know where to find me. 😂

    I still think somehow someway, Keener is alive, especially with the upcoming season names and going back to NYC. I also think that he might still have a bigger part to play in the hunters, recruiters and even McManus even if it is confirmed that he is dead, his legacy could come back to get us via the hunter program. I also agree with your thoughts about the asset, its a "hunter" and probably the one who offed Capt. Lewis. This next manhunt should be interesting, i'm curious to see who we have to rescue aside from Vikram, and after taking a walk around the Castle Settlement, it looks like they are setting it up for us to have it as the main BOO.

    The scared civilians in the zoo were an interesting bit for me, as its one of the few (only? probably not, but I can't remember) times where an in-game source shows us that not everyone treats the division as heroes or even harmless-enough neutrals. Propaganda or not, that is a good indicator that the black tusk aren't openly threatening, robbing, kidnapping or executing people (like a lot of the other faction are likely to do for one reason or other), they present themselves as a legitimate option for law and order.

    Hey NGN! I'm glad to see you add a little comedy to these videos def makes it a bit more personal and fun to see you add a bit more of yourself in these videos! Especially the Johnny bravo part that made me laugh!
    I wanted to postulate a few things thing you brought up in this video and a few things I've been thinking about!
    1. The role of the recruiter in standing by and watching you
    As you have stated, the recruiter may be looking to have us recruited into being a hunter or something similar. But what if its not just him going off missions as you said but what if Calvin McManus is growing tired of playing by Natalia's bullshit? He's absolutely had eyes on us after we killed the Coney island hunter, He might have even been impress that a random division agent was able to gun down one of his operators. Why would he, of all people, hand the presidencies gleefully over to a PMC CEO if he didn't have something to gain other than more power. He knows the game he is playing with Nat and knows the deck forwards and back. He has actively questioned Nat in some issues like when Nat didn't like using hunters to kill rouges. Something tells me he's looking for an ace in the hole in case Nat decides to backstab him. And we might just be what he's looking for.
    2. Aaron Keener and his true legacy
    Something always bugged me back even when D2 was released and when WONY was dropped. Aaron Keener, at least devoid of any comms you collected, looked like he took a sharp turn into insanity. What with engineering a bio weapon to kill more people? No, even in D1, he clearly states that he doesn't do things without seeing the big picture and without telling everyone. He hadn't truly lost his sense of right and wrong, as an example is the full lower Manhattan comms. He helped a man because he saw that man go into a burning building to look for survivors. Its a fantastic parallel to him when he was trying to save a group of people from the midtown dark zone only he was betrayed by the Division. He wasn't gonna let history repeat itself with that man and now with the greater world. So why is he important other than just he's gonna featured in another season? With what we know now He had access to ANNA and ISAC, what's to say he didn't also have DIAMOND. Even with those two, he would have had unfiltered access to entire database as stated in the decent comms. He would've an open channel to the BTSU and nat. How else could he have gotten in contact with them to hand over Vitaly without showing himself? Why would the BTSU commit a full invasion of liberty Island to hunt one man? Nat would've easily brushed off loosing Vitaly, she didn't have the reactor, what use is a scientist right now? He would've seen what Nat had in store for the future of Brooklyn and turning the people against the division. Why would he launch at Bio attack on Brooklyn of all place? Look for yourself, The real statue of liberty faces Brooklyn and the missile was aimed facing where the statue faces. He wanted to stop the BTSU his way not the division way. He never wanted to take down the division, He knew that something like the dollar flu couldn't have gone unnoticed without a higher power letting it happen and he lost trust that the division was going to be unable to take care of the real enemy. And when he found out, he set about a fool proof plan. Everyone had a part to play and we did ours to perfection. We have his watch, we could access ANNA in the future. we can begin to unravel what he saw. We have his audio comms to piece together what he was planning. We are his legacy, not hornet or jupiter. They had roles to play on the stage, but us? We are his audience. We get to see the whole thing come together and he was the director. I'm excited to see what the future holds for him
    3. Bardon Schaffer and vik
    These two know the BTSU in and out. Why else would they have set up the BTSU in a manner to let them take control of a post dollar flu world BEFORE it even happen. Calvin told the BTSU and Nat of this golden opportunity to reshape the world in their imagine. As stated the Black tusk would be the sentential to Nat's new America. If we finally get Bardon to wake up, he could tell us everything he knows from the start all the way to season 3. With Vik, we can find out how Nat had a tech advantage against us and how DIAMOND works and how we could gain an advantage against the BTSU. They both were a linch pin in the BTSU. Even with Nat, the whole operation couldn't haver gone so smoothly without knowing when, where, and how to strike at American government and its structure when the time came. I hope Bardon wakes up this next season before Aarons season. He'd make a great comms buddy while going through the season about the man he tried to hunt down on liberty island

    The voice giving Mari the division comms sounds similar to the unknown voice in the 'New Orders' Black Tusk Comms Collectible
    The voice is listed as 'Unknown' and seems to have been giving orders to Schaeffer directly to back off the division. He was the only semblance of a commander before Nataliya was introduced.
    Schaeffer also referred to this unknown person as 'Boss' and is listed as his 'Supervisor' in the comms description. I cant confirm that it is the same person giving Mari the comms piece in the Manhunt, but I'm thinking it could be.
    They were also discussing the Black Tusk and The Division potentially teaming up in the future. 'Today's enemies are tomorrow's friends.' Given that this was here since the beginning of the game, this could be some pretty serious foreshadowing.

    Excellent debriefing. This video has a lot of good Intel to help us prepare for what is coming. The asset? Not sure yet, but phone can be used as listening and video monitoring devices. They can be turned on and operated remotely. Next time you are on your phone, look for a tiny light at the top of the screen, then watch for that light when you are not using your phone. The recruiter? I also believe we are being recruited. I find a hunter watching my character a lot.

  • @CCM1199
    @CCM1199 Рік тому

    the voice behind the comms when it came to mari signh is the recruiter. Also keep in mind that we met the recruiter long ago in a side mission. towards the end inside of an office building where we find one of our agents dead and dangling from the ceiling by commo wire over a conference table, we were shocked in place by the recruiter. This was our first encounter. He didnt kill us then and he wouldnt kill us now. What I think is about to happen is exactly the opposite of what you said wont happen. The Black Tusk will take the white house and establish themselves as the military superpower and their first order is to publicly denounce the SHD agents. This will in turn make us Rogue agents. once that happens, the recruiter will offer us a deal to stop the black tusk once and for all. Keep in mind that the hunters were former special operations (If im not mistaken they were Delta Force and not Special forces (ODA)) and also keep in mind that they have 0 allegiance to anyone and this includes the Black Tusk. I also believe the one person we thought was dead will return and Bardon Schaeffer will come out of the coma. Now the person Im talking about that will return from the dead is none other than Aaron Keener himself. Hes the only person out of all the manhunts, hunters and rogues weve actually killed and never confirmed killed and never seen his body being transported other than Schaefer who was confirmed alive and detained. When we kicked the door in he was already sitting on the ground and there was no blood flowing from him. whose to say that he didnt take a pill that puts his body in a near death state? we didnt get to visibly see his body transported. how im think its going to play out is this: we already have ISAC, Diamond and Anna. We will lose ISAC when we get denounced and will go rogue. so we will start using Anna (aka the Rogue Agent Network) and use Diamond to keep close tabs on the black Tusk operations. All the hunters that are alongside the black Tusk along with the True sons we will end up fighting and the recruiter will finally get his hands dirty. I think this will end the Hunters vs SHD Agents thats been going on since Div 1 and we will form a new faction out of both the remaining SHD agents and the Hunters with the Recruiter taking Manny's place on the comms while manny takes care of his child which would be born sometime into the season. we will probably a hunter specialization with the ability to control drones/proxies and UGV's (warhounds, robots and sentry guns).Then from that day forward will no longer be called agent...youll be called hunter - (insert your name here)

    About the Hunters. Something I've been wondering about for awhile. The last season of year 4, when entering various areas, we were told of increased Hunter Drone activity in these areas. Not sure of the connection, but maybe this was the Recruiter as well (searching for something, perhaps agents)...let's not forget the brief scene in the trailer of a Hunter dragging a dead agent. Perhaps the devs are thinking about having Hunters pop up randomly like the Rogue NPCs during missions & freeroam (that'll add a new level of difficulty).
    I also have a prediction/wishlist for the not so distant future of the story. Natalia gets her wish...control of the White House and the Castle settlement (Black Tusk equipment is already there & she may still have remote access to it). She then proceeds to get the masses on her side & brands the Division as the bad guys (terrorists). We get new missions, like the devs promised, and with a few allies (Kelso, Benitez, Manny, Wally, Rhodes who's still skeptical of the SHD, & a few others along the way), we fight to take back control & clear our good name. Also, I kinda think the Recruiter gave Mari the comm knowing it would connect her directly to the SHD. I don't think he's recruiting us. I think he MAY be defecting. Imagine what I mentioned before (reclaiming our good name) with HIM as an ally & all he may know. And will someone PLEASE wake up Schaefer. I wanna find out what he knows. He's been asleep long enough..lol.
    What do you other agents think about all this. And forgive me if it's a bit long. I often have too much time to think...lol.

    Here's an interesting thought based on your idea from the Recruiter:
    They're still on mission.
    I subscribe to the idea that Hunters have access to all three of the AI Systems. Now, this system is still a computer and requires data to compute its objectives. Its been collecting data from ISAC, ANA, and DIAMOND. Now here's where I have two thoughts:
    1. Its been intentionally recruiting specific people to become Hunters and pitting them against the Division/others to get specific results and data.
    2. Its evolved to the point where the Recruiter is seeing the whole picture and wants to effect change, so he's looking for the right people. A la, bad guys turned good.
    We know ISAC is too binary in its decision processing, which was a help early on in the Dollar Flu and the objectives of the Division. But now? We need a system that can better discern between large and morally complex systems of engagement to give the best result.
    The Recruiter is either the face of that system or is looking to create it. Either we'll join them to better help everyone or we'll Shanghai it and give it a better objective to compute.

I feel--or at least hope--there's something more to them.

    That hunter is not familiar, he is a new one. The first recruiter was named even on his bio on the game was Jiang Ziya, or the "Crimson mask" we obtained. We killed him. So possibly this is a new hunter who is possibly stalking us. But i have doubts and confusions if he is the same one that killed Captian Lewis. Possibly we will have another or couple more hunter fights like we did in Bardon Schaeffer's manhunt like hunter "Deceit".

    With you mentioning that there may have been other division agents recruited in to the hunters one possible theory is that's why the hunters left puzzles for us to solve and defeat each group and also possibly why we've seen stalker hunters randomly. Maybe the watching us to determine if we have what it takes. Don't know if that's just me or if anyone else has thought of that but otherwise just a theory

    Great video as aways keep up the work. now for my thoughts... here we go. 1 is Nat and Black Tusk now good.... no I think she is still playing the long con or mind games and is most likely now running false flag operations. The reason for my thinking on this is coming from multiple data points. The first is the comms we picked up during the evacs, where the civilians are panicking that the division is coming and BT needs to protect the clinics. Unless there are other division cells in the area operating, which I highly doubt because I can see ISAC marking them rogue, and if it doesn't, the only reason would be because ISAC sees them and a foreign power invading. Since BT looks like they also worked with the same tech company that handled the Division tech, it is not unlikely that they don't have the same, if not similar, tech. Otherwise, if they don't have the same tech as agents, then it wouldn't be a stretch since she works with Calvin to have his hunters who clearly take agent's watches so its not inconceivable that they take all the gear from agents that are KIA to BT or repurpose it for themselves and appear as agents.
    2. Regarding the asset, when it comes to the obvious choice, I agree. The easy assumption is that the asset could be someone we rescued if it is my money is on Eva Garcia, mainly because she seemed more willing to work with them, and she is in charge of radios, so she potentially has access to our comms to leak them over when she is on duty. Otherwise, it might be someone who just infiltrated undercover and will use the rescued individuals as a smoke screen or scapegoat for their ops. Otherwise, it could be them talking about another upcoming op, and the asset might be Malik waiting to be "rescued" from BT.
    I agree that the voice that we hear is the recruiter, and Nat has used that term to refer to as a hunter. I don't think she is referring to him or that he is under Nat and BT's complete control. He is either unlikely as it may seem, working his own game and maybe a new upcoming power later on. Or what's more likely, still taking orders from Calvin and the whole training Nat personnel is a smoke screen and a way to try and judge who he can possibly sway over to Cal's side should he ever need it, but the whole earpiece could be Cal's way to reach out to Manny or us if she still has the earpiece and not told anyone about it. Because let's face it with Ellis dead, I don't believe anyone has been properly sworn in to replace him, nor do we have a list of individuals who are still alive that can be sworn in. The only person we know is Cal, who is last on the list. Or BIGGER PLOT TWIST. The Recruiter is a hunter who is a division agent who has yet to be activated or is an active agent who isn't part of any cell trying to maintain his cover in order to do what he can to protect what remains.

    Dude, they demonetized the Hunter video?? Such a crime! We agreed on many points in that one. The addition of the Recruiter character has definitely deepened the lore and changed the calculus a bit, but his appearance at the end here would seem to indicate either A) he's the Asset, B) WE'RE the Asset that he's trying to recruit, or C) the Asset is another character that's already been introduced.
    Let's hope that the next season starts with Schaeffer waking up finally.

    Some other people I know were complaining that the rescue targets so far seemed unusually relaxed for having been taken hostage by Black Tusk regardless of conditions, so seeing Mari be agitated seemed like a direct answer to that, even if it had been planned from the start of the season anyway.
    Seeing as there's a surveillance drone of some sort that Sokolova is watching Manny through, I'm inclined to say that the asset is a means of closely monitoring Manny or the Castle. It might not be getting someone to infiltrate the JTF or the Castle, just close enough to send up the drone.

  • @Derivedwhale45
    @Derivedwhale45 Рік тому +4

    If that's the case, then i guess we're really on the losing side of this 2rd civi war we're currently in atm & i bet some agents already switch to the BTSU/hunters by now since 2 of the rescue operations a rogue agent try to stop us twice during this season story so far.
    Also, seeing how that same red mask hunter is stalking our momentum 24/7, i have a feeling we'll combat this unique hunter as a test of our worthy if that moment do come eventually.
    For Manny, he's bout done with everything going on lately and well.... he may be killed off sooner or later with the way his morale is at for now & unless something changes in the near future, he ain't gonna hold long.
    19:52 for whatever Shepherd agents are left including You & Me, obviously not, but for those outside the DC & NYC areas, yes, because people have now truly given up on us agents throughout most of the US while some spots including river's creek are barely holding on at this point, but how long until reports of SHD abandoning their arms selection of agents in the near future? Who knows...
    20:35 that's the main point of the 2rd Civil War arc RN, ideological agenda & propaganda n they're winning atm
    22:44 the answer could be the red mask hunter since he's stalking our movement 24/ RN and knowing that we were nearing Mari positive, give her a headset with our comms once he saw us coming up fast n soon radio mari that the area was clear & we were here for her, which makes alot of sense if u think about it tho especially since hunters like The Recruiter have a bunch of our comms already

On the other hand, perhaps it's the reason why they have been slowing the time of new seasons, allowing for more time to polish and refine something like that. Then again, it's ubisoft, we both know that if they release something like that, it will drop half-broken and take a few months to work somewhat properly
