Correct. They also made another version, think it was called the "GTR" or something, which also had a spoiler, but that was for racing only. That's an LM for sure, such an amazing car, i love it. Although the LM was actually slower than the normal F1, since the spoiler creates downforce=) That was more of a track car.=)
F1 is and will always remain the ultimate driving machine. Unlike most super cars where they build the body first and fit all the mechanicals underneath it, the F1 was built first with all the mechanicals in place and then the body was designed over it. The F1 was designed to be the ultimate driving machine right from the bottom up.
Damn, the F1 looks really sexy in that aero kit. The McLaren is a product of such genius packaging. Not only the most brilliant all around supercar, but it holds three people, and their luggage too. Ferrari makes a business of trying to catch up to this 14 year old car.
What a car, BRING IT BACK FOR NFS UNDERCOVER! It's such a beautiful car I can't stand not seeing it in a game since NFS4, Test Drive Unlimited, and Midnight Club 3 (DUB Edition)...
Gordon Murray is a genius. He designed truly innovative racewinning racecars in Formula 1 long before he designed the F1 roadcar. Check out the 1978 Brabham Fan-car. The totally dominant McLaren MP4/4 from 1988 was Murray's design too.
Oh i see, didn't know about the interior, and i actually did know they only made it in orange, so i figured someone repainted it=) But thanks for point out that=)
Back in 1994 this car was from the future. Back then the Jaguar XJ220 and Bugatti EB110 were on the top. The F1 made them both look archaic. Ferrari's top model back in 1994 was the 512TR (essentially a facelifted Testarossa), Lamborghini had their old Diablo. Porsches 959 had long gone out of production as had the Ferrari F40.
mclaren f1.. not the fastest car in the world nor the quickest... but the driving experience sure is great.. reallllly great.. the sound, the pure engine performance, the steering (coz it has no power steering) its just simply amazing for a 13 yr old car... the mclaren f1 still is the supercar to beat...god i love F1!
The McLaren F1 rolled out the factory in 1993! Where was the Pagani's, Ferrari's (apart from the F40), Ascari's, Bugatti's etc... back then? The McLaren F1 was and still is an epic acheivement!
@TheTornado4000 also, the mp4-12c doesnt have half the tech in it the veyron does. The veryron was a showcase car. The designers could have squeezed 1000hp out of a 4cyl motor if they wanted. They wanted to show the world what could be done. They went with a w16. They have suspension that alters the ride height. A hydrolic wing that doubles as an air brake. twin clutch trans & 4wd, just mind blowing stuff. Think of the problems they overcome.
The F1 reached a limit and blew a hole through that. Fast, quick in corners, comfortable practical. The veyron may have beat it at top speed, but it won't beat the F1 in the practical aspects. The F1 bring back to the days of day-to-day car which performed like race cars on track days. A racing car for daily use.
The McLaren F1 was the fastest car in the world from 1993(371km/h) untill 1998 when it beat it's own record (386,7km/h), the record lasted till 2005.. 12 years then..
At the end of the day the Veyron and SSC Ultimate Aero are designed to go in a straight line. The McLaren F1 (especially the LM) is a real racing road car, fantastic at going around corners with an awesome top speed. No other car even comes close to its performance, sound or beauty
@slickstrings What you don't under stand is that Veyron's target was speed over 250 mph and 1001 hp . But they wanted the engine to work for years not months so they created the engine with a huge size and 4 turbos . But they could'nt because the car was too heavy and only reached 227 mph . One more thing bugatti never re wrote the rules of anything i mean it is only fast in a straight line .
There were around 65 produced. Plus another 10 or so LMP F1 cars, and give or take another 5 that were deconverted from race cars to production models.
the worlds fastest street legal car out there. the worlds fasted stock car, and also $500,000. if i had the money, i would buy it. lol. OMG. think how much fun he had driving that thing.
@slickstrings And one more thing I have to say gentleman that you actually know how to talk to people and i am not joking. Thumbs up for you and you would make a great engineer by the way .
@07SuperchargedSS Only you would need to change the tires and refill every 10 minutes or so, but i have to agree, tho i'm a McL F1 fan, but the Veyron is a good product of VW group.
A lot of cars can do the same thing at high enough speeds. The downforce must simply exceed the weight of the car. On F1 Roadcourses, they weld down the man hole lids to prevent the cars from sucking them up.
MClaren F1 is the ultimate car. Veyron might be a bit faster, but look how long it took for it to pass mclaren. I never thought i would say this, but British made an amazing job with Mclaren F1.
the ssc might be a bit faster than the veyron but at that speed it will shake and rattle and feel like its falling apart. then it will have to cool down and get serviced. the veyron will do 407km/h all day without any problems because it is engineered so much better. plus it has all the options a normal car has, radio, a/c, power everything, high quality interior... ssc is basically a race car with turn signals that passed a crash test.
mclaren f1, i love this car! NO other supercar can beat that... mclaren f1 is the god. the greatest supercar ever built. if you put a lambo and a ferrari side by side and ask who would win, the answer would be mclaren f1.. period.
Look up "Caparo T1". Is made by the McLaren team and it will be the fastest road car in history (except the top speed, but braking, acceleration and cornering will surpass that of any other road car in history!).
True, but the Mclaren was a truely iconic car for the time in which it was built. It was the fist car with a carbon fibre body, and has gold plating on the engine to reflect heat. Id rather have a Veyron than an SSCC Aero though.
@slickstrings You are absolutely right about that Bugatti has a Century of racing History they could have done a racing car.But in any way i like both the cars The F1 and The Veyron both are great cars if i had enough money i would buy both of them .
i know i totally agree with you the veyron has great engineering like u said with the a/c radio etc. but the ssc has been reduced i bet if the veyron had weight reduction it would be way faster
i think i'm right in saying that the mclaren is the fastest naturally aspirated car ever. the veyron, koenigsegg and ssc ultimate aero tt all have turbos or superchargers
well thats fine but you still dont remember how old this car is and when it was first put ont he market. veyron just came out while the mclaren f1 first came out in 1992. Mclaren f1 set the benchmark for street legal super cars. not bad for a n/a engine car vs the veyron with its 4 turbos. dont get me wrong all great cars.
This is a legendary car, gorgeous is the only word for it. It looks way better than a Veyron, sounds better, and it has got a proper stick shift, not that stupid flappy paddles in the Veyron.
It's not just the amount of bhp. You can get 1000 bhp out of a smaller engine. For example Porsche 911 dragster - tuned by German company has 3.6 V6 producing 1360 bhp. The thing with Veyron is that everything was made for absolute perfection. I mean which other car is quiet and comfortable at 407 kph speed? Or which other car with this kind of power has such a smooth and linear power delivery?
@TheTornado4000 well, your missing the point again. they COULD keep the weight down further than they did already. But when you reduce weight, you reduce strength. So you need to use expensive exotic materials and composites. Which in turn increases cost exponentially. You need to draw the line somewhere. The veyron achieved its goals. There would be no point building it if no one could afford it.
@slickstrings You know what would impress me is that if the veyron could keep all that technology but also keep the weight low now that would be real engineering marvel .And it isn't that practicle either.
As far as track cars go, it's still up there with the best of them. I love how people who don't know jack jump on the 'Bugatti bandwagon' as soon as speed is mentioned. Look up Caparo T1, would smash a Veyron on any track ANY DAY.
@TheTornado4000 youve just proved my point again. Firstly, weight does not affect top speed. 2nd, the veyron is electronically limited. 3rdly, think about design. Concept - to make a 250mph car which is luxurious, easy and safe to drive with a different drive. Reality, 1001 hp and loads of torque. then run that power reliably through a trans which is strong but light. Increasing strength = added weight. Reducing weight = exotic design & matherials which increases cost which reduces market.
I'm sorry my friend but this is NOT Macca F1 LM.. This is a Standard Road Car but fitted with High Downforce Kit, an upgrade performed by McLaren's factory in Woking.. The top speed is probably close to 220-230mph.. Just to let you know, there are 5 LM's, three in Orange and two in Black..
absolutely beautiful McLaren
Correct. They also made another version, think it was called the "GTR" or something, which also had a spoiler, but that was for racing only. That's an LM for sure, such an amazing car, i love it. Although the LM was actually slower than the normal F1, since the spoiler creates downforce=) That was more of a track car.=)
I love that engine. High reving N/A DOHC V12 with variable valve timing and over 100 bhp/litre and all that in early 90's, true masterpiece.
I love MCLAREN
definitely one of my most favorite cars ever!!!
Damn, the F1 looks really sexy in that aero kit.
The McLaren is a product of such genius packaging. Not only the most brilliant all around supercar, but it holds three people, and their luggage too. Ferrari makes a business of trying to catch up to this 14 year old car.
Yessir! Fastest car with no turbo, no super. Gosh I love BMW engineering
I am Mclaren owner, and that video does not do it justice, the feeling is like nothing you could ever imagine.
"Most fun you can have with close on" great definition of McLaren F1
very well written, but with all my love for the F1 I think that the Veyron will not be forgotten..
look at the date it was posted. 3 YEARS AGO. plus it WAS the fastest wen it was built. fkn amazing car
What a car, BRING IT BACK FOR NFS UNDERCOVER!
It's such a beautiful car I can't stand not seeing it in a game since NFS4, Test Drive Unlimited, and Midnight Club 3 (DUB Edition)...
its the most professional race car for the street !!! pure power
Gordon Murray is a genius. He designed truly innovative racewinning racecars in Formula 1 long before he designed the F1 roadcar.
Check out the 1978 Brabham Fan-car. The totally dominant McLaren MP4/4 from 1988 was Murray's design too.
top of my dream cars list since I first laid eyes on it.(I'm sure many of you too) And it will stay there in many, many years to come.
Oh i see, didn't know about the interior, and i actually did know they only made it in orange, so i figured someone repainted it=) But thanks for point out that=)

a Truly 1 in a Million Car!
"Well you would say that you lucky bas.."
Gotta love the cut off.
The F1 reached a limit and blew a hole through that. Fast, quick in corners, comfortable practical. The veyron may have beat it at top speed, but it won't beat the F1 in the practical aspects. The F1 bring back to the days of day-to-day car which performed like race cars on track days. A racing car for daily use.
i still love the McLaren F1. it was the fastest productioon car in the world for almost 20 years...i think.
Top of my dream car list too and until eternity busts!!!
I thought you were talking about upcoming McLaren supercar.
Still, I can't wait for the new Mercedes SLS Gullwing. Can't wait to drive it.
the greatest supercar of all time, the Mclaren F1
the GOD of all supercars!
King of Cars!!!!
is that the LM version? since it got the spoiler... correct me if im wrong.
The McLaren F1 was the fastest car in the world from 1993(371km/h) untill 1998 when it beat it's own record (386,7km/h), the record lasted till 2005.. 12 years then..
that car looks pimpin
no! as I stated in video description it's a Standard Road Car with High Downforce Kit (HDK).. greets
was that the top gear track?
BEST CAR EVER MADE.
yep the p11 i can't wait for that. My dads already ordered one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the end of the day the Veyron and SSC Ultimate Aero are designed to go in a straight line. The McLaren F1 (especially the LM) is a real racing road car, fantastic at going around corners with an awesome top speed. No other car even comes close to its performance, sound or beauty
McLaren F1 is the best super car out there!!
Come on, a centre driving seat!!
first of all it came into production at a million dollars and is now much more second off all it is now the fourth fastest street legal car.
"The most fun you can have with your clothes on." Too cool!
it has a a front nose spoiler and rear spoiler to keep the downforce pressure high.
@slickstrings

nice vid.
which the music of the opening theme? awesome...
There were around 65 produced. Plus another 10 or so LMP F1 cars, and give or take another 5 that were deconverted from race cars to production models.
I'd love to see Mythbusters do something on that. Even though it's sort of confirmed, it'd be hella expensive to do
I was going to mention the $75,000 C6 Z06 Vette, that can eat $200,000+ supercars alive, but you also make a damn goood point.
BEST CAR EVER.
the worlds fastest street legal car out there. the worlds fasted stock car, and also $500,000. if i had the money, i would buy it. lol. OMG. think how much fun he had driving that thing.
I love this car,is great
@slickstrings
And one more thing I have to say gentleman that you actually know how to talk to people and i am not joking. Thumbs up for you and you would make a great engineer by the way .
im with u on that, 100%!
All time great road machine ..........PERIOD !
@07SuperchargedSS Only you would need to change the tires and refill every 10 minutes or so, but i have to agree, tho i'm a McL F1 fan, but the Veyron is a good product of VW group.
this channel is full of McLarren F1s
the god of all cars
That thing can generate so much down force that if it's going fast enough, it can stick to the ceiling. Or, so I've heard.
A lot of cars can do the same thing at high enough speeds. The downforce must simply exceed the weight of the car. On F1 Roadcourses, they weld down the man hole lids to prevent the cars from sucking them up.
IM TOTALLY GETTING THIS WHEN I GROW UP!
which is faster buggati veyron or keonigsegg or mclaren f1?
OMG this is my dream car. i still wouldnt say practical...lol. 1million$, 12-14mpg. by far still my fav, over veyron, enzo & ALL OTHERS
Gearing?= )
Pure masterpiece and still the fastest naturally aspirated production car to date (Veyron has 4 turbochargers...)
mclaren's new slogan
"most fun u can have with ur close on"
theres 3 seats on it and thats my fav car in the world!!!
the ultimate supercar..... get update it, try the bugatti veyron....like to see that
MClaren F1 is the ultimate car. Veyron might be a bit faster, but look how long it took for it to pass mclaren. I never thought i would say this, but British made an amazing job with Mclaren F1.
"ah you would say that, you lucky bas-"
lol +1
hard to tell at the moment.. I don't think it's been released on DVD just yet.. thanx for the comment..
thats my favorite car
I know exactly what you mean.. Wish McLaren created an updated F1 for 2006 with the same team but I doubt it will ever happen..
the ssc might be a bit faster than the veyron but at that speed it will shake and rattle and feel like its falling apart. then it will have to cool down and get serviced. the veyron will do 407km/h all day without any problems because it is engineered so much better. plus it has all the options a normal car has, radio, a/c, power everything, high quality interior... ssc is basically a race car with turn signals that passed a crash test.

Don't care about being the fastest on earth. It has one of the most beautiful design ever!
They're lucky bastards... X| i really want one!!
i want one so bad. have to start saving lol
yeah like top speed but the mclaren f1 is my favorite car and i will own one before i die
thx for clearing that.
Look up "Caparo T1". Is made by the McLaren team and it will be the fastest road car in history (except the top speed, but braking, acceleration and cornering will surpass that of any other road car in history!).

its pretty amazing car,no - its not car,its dream...its phantom...
i think i'm right in saying that the mclaren is the fastest naturally aspirated car ever. the veyron, koenigsegg and ssc ultimate aero tt all have turbos or superchargers

yes your right the lm version has the spoiler
why are they using the top gear test track
true... The Brunei Sultan has two LM's in black :)
Who agrees with me that there should be a McLaren F1 go kart.
This is a legendary car, gorgeous is the only word for it. It looks way better than a Veyron, sounds better, and it has got a proper stick shift, not that stupid flappy paddles in the Veyron.

I remember that at the time this show aired, a holiday special of My Life as a Teenage Robot aired on Nickelodeon.
Buggati Veyron now holds that record I think.
As far as track cars go, it's still up there with the best of them. I love how people who don't know jack jump on the 'Bugatti bandwagon' as soon as speed is mentioned. Look up Caparo T1, would smash a Veyron on any track ANY DAY.
