In my opinion, there are no more valid cons to modding your 3DS, especially the New 3DS. It just brings the console to its full potential and the risk of being banned by Nintendo is nearly pointless because with the eShop closed almost all online-features are discontinued. And I just love the n3ds for its amazing games and the 3D effect in most games is awesome. And being able to play the other systems that I love all on the same device with big, great screens is perfect. I can play 3DS, DS, Gameboy Advance and SNES all on quality hardware that is very durable and I don't need a case or whatever due to the inbuilt screen protection by the clamshell design. If you don't mod your New 3DS in 2023 you simply hold it back. And sure there's the debate about piracy, but Nintendo doesn't get one cent of the 200 € I spend for this rare DS game on eBay and I don't know how many duplicates of several Mario games I purchased from Nintendo on every device I ever owned to make up for downloading a game that I just couldn't get otherwise.
Yes you should because modding it opens it up and gives you so much potential with the 3ds and now that it is officially abandoned by Nintendo to me is fair game. Wether you choose to obtain Roms or not is up to the individual but even if you don’t it still is a lot more useful than a factory spec 3ds and it’s quite simple to mod as well.
This was an incredibly informative video. I've been considering moding my 3ds for a little bit due to the eShop shutting down, and your video was definitely helpful on deciding. For right now I'm probably gonna hold off for seeing as the cons you brought up have more weight to me right now, but that may change in the future. For now I'll subscribe even if I'm not modding, cause this video was great for making that decision, thank you!
Thank you for the video :D I have still got a question: Is there a way to install poketransporter and go online after modding? I missed that application before the eshop went down and now I am still searching for a method that wont result in a ban of my account...

One question I was trying to find the answer. Now in 2023 the Eshop is "closed", can I connect my modded 3ds to my wifi and play multiplayer?
