They cut out Touta so they had to cut out the part where Touta uses his np to create rice and throws a party in the village with Arash and everyone. I know that scene is not important but I think its nice to have that scene.
That kind of reminds me of what I forgot to mention. One of the things that makes babylonia work ironically is that it kept a couple of those not important moments which were the more light hearted moments. Part 1 Camelot tried to take this story too seriously. I know to some that's an odd thing to say but you need light hearted moments to give your audience something to know or see about the characters. Fsn, ubw, and hf had their light hearted moments despite the situations that happened. You need those moments to give your audience a break from the action and seriousness of a story.
@@Fureiji88 Also in the episode 0 of babylonia anime they show us Touta and Hundred Face but they cut out both of them so the anime onlys are going to be confused.
It may not be another Babylonia, but I definitely still wanna advocate on Camelot’s behalf so that the higher ups know that we, as Fate fans, want more animated adaptations
There are some important scenes that removed, and not so important scene that added. But we can see Bedi slapping the hell out of everyone so that's a win for me.
There were two major issues to me, when it came to the storytelling. First, Pretty much every introduction was cut from the film, including the introduction to the singularity itself. We never met Tristan's character as he killed the innocent and struck fear in our hearts. We never met nitocris and hundred personas as they Nitocris was being kidnapped. We never met Bedivere as he helped save us in the desert. Or Mordred as she attacked in the mountains, letting us see the power of the King. Everything just seemed to exist. Secondly, all the lighthearted scenes between characters were removed. Some people may not consider them important but we remember them as highlights of the singularity. Like Arash Airlines which also showed his amazing strength as an ACTUAL ARCHER. We never saw Ozymandias's head slide off which showed his stubbornness and foreshadowed his involvement with First Hassan. These interactions were memorable and funny but also built up the character.
I think, be it for good or for bad, the decided to stick with a main tone for the movie and focused on building up Bedivere's motivation as the center of the story. I also heard that the movie is muvh more closer to the Camelot stage play adaptation. I don't know if its true though.
Hi again, watched the part 2. And yep, part 1 ton3 make sense, since the doulogy is more about Bedivere. And part 1 was a really good build up for part 2 especially if you watch the movies back to back
Was anybody else bothered by Rushd being really sad and depressed? In the game, he was shown to have been putting on a brave face and having an intuitive understanding that Cursed Arm is his dad. Makes his character really one-dimensional.
In his defense....he watched his mother die Plus it did still that he was kinda brave when he and others who were given refuge in ozys kingdom he and others chose to go with ritsuka and mashu
Yeah, him not understanding/being in denial about it at first was an element in the game that made me care about him. I don't know why they would cut that since it wouldn't take up much time.
@@blackshadow37_Wraith I'm not saying it's not a rational reaction. I'm bothered by the change from what originally happened in the game. It's a weird directing choice that completely changes his character. Like @Emile Therese points out, it doesn't really take up much time. He can have the same scenes as he does in the movie, but just have a different disposition.
I wanna see every hero in camelot unleash their noble phantasm, like arash, not just call out its name before being defeated, like tristan. (who's noble phantasm is the one I wanna see the most)
I agree with the title. It's actually the same thing I feel with other fate series adaptions. You know it's bad when nasu is called to do an interview as he is always doing to calm down fans. Even hf he had to explain touko for the 5th time as he messed up on the vn and people still don't know if they don't see knk. His own fault. Camelot movie he said part 2 still cut stuff but it's better than 1. Plot was all over the place and it ruined gawains power by being beat as well as people teleporting. For part 1 it was really the main studio being beyond lazy outsourcing and since they dont care as much they did a half job. Sad part is while asako and touta were removed. Gareth was shown and mentioned many times do these guys made the same effort to remove as to add Gareth. It's also what I feel about hf in cutting illyas and kiries scenes in part 1 and 2 and adding filler at the same time (thanks sudou I hate it)
I heard that this movie was actually adapted from the Camelot stage play instead of the game version itself. Despite that it feels kinda empty. It’s kinda like when you read a book and then Hollywood makes a movie. The effects are neat and fights are cool but so much gets cut that it can become rather irritating. I really like the suggestion about a series of servants memories as a series.
I agree with u on that one. Some scenes were like superficial. like in the game, we don't know whether arash's np will be enough against that holy spear attack? It should be like that arash's np blasted and somehow managed to deflect it. After it we get to know about arash's death. In movie however , the way it is shown , it feels like everyone knows that arash will die and his np is shown perfect to destroy that attack for sure. Another was It creates a feel in fans like "Yeah , they'll figure something out !" They should've shown that scene of serinity's captur in front of them by tristan , showing their powerlessness to just watch it from hiding ( just like in babylonia against enkidu, jagaur, quetzalcoatal mash and others were powerless and after gorgon appeared it make the feels the level of threat the singularity holds.) The best part they've shown is the different style of fighting of each knight of round table. Like Mordred's fighting style was same as in apocrypha. Also character design were beautiful for characters like mash , bedivere, artoria and others. I believe the second movie will bring that tension and excitement we all want.
01:25 well for japanese FGO is like League of Legends. They have hundred millions of players so they don't have problems with finding viewers. Same with the fact that in Japan Type Moon/Fate has become MCU of anime. ;3 Hype like this won't stop easily.
To be honest, I felt kind of not on board for a part of the film at first, but the longer I watched, the more enjoyable (even exciting) I found it. I haven't played the game, there isn't a Fate/GO server in the continent I'm in, let alone my country, but with your videos and TV Tropes I'm mostly on board on the game and the whole franchise in general (so thanks for that, you're doing a great job). That being said, I really enjoy reading and learing about mythologies and legends or watching videos on said topics (I love the videos by OSP Red), so the mythology/legend buff in me had a blast with the film and the subtle references or subversions to the stories -for example, "Tripitaka" actually being useful in a fight and her Noble Phantasm being clones with the weapons of his/her/their disciples, or Mo(e)rdred being the "faithful" knight to Bedivere's "rebel scum". For me it was easier to follow with the help of the general knowledge of the Fate Franchise, but I get where you come from.
I agree with everything you've said, though I feel I have to add how they messed up nearly everything about Da Vinci. Like how you mentioned with the bath scene between Mash and Nitocris, I didn't like that the film just opened up with them already in the vehicle Da Vinci built. No explanation is given for where the vehicle came from, and the explanation for Da Vinci even being in the singlularity with Ritsuka and Mash is half-assed at best. My memory isn't the best, so i'll say I liked what I believe to be the added scene of Da Vinci gathering information about the singularity from Arash in the city. However, in contrast, I can't stand how they did Da Vinci's death before it was supposed to happen. As you said, the small comedic moments are important for characterization, and Da Vinci never meeting Ozymandias and him thusly never instantly declaring her to be his concubine is one of those moments of much needed characterization. Overall, I also dislike how they portrayed Ozy in this movie. Again, I don't have the best recollection of Camelot, but Ozy is so well liked, even by those that haven't come across Prototype, because he is basically a mix of Archer and Caster Gilgamesh. He will proudly proclaim that he is the greatest and that no one will ever be as great as him, but he recognizes others and ONLY believes that no one can be as great as him, not that they cannot be great at all.
It felt rushed despite how long we have waited some scenes and just dialogue added cold have done the trick I don't like how much was cut or trivialized I remembered more on that story by how much was cut and was not emotionally invested my doubts were just proven true when we got a movie instead of a series even if the series was shorter my concerns now head to the next film and Solomon
@@KhanMann66 it's also super important for other knights like Tristan whose alignment was inversed hence why kills so many villagers. They really undersold how brutal he was in the game
@KhaanMan66 Not entirely. The Knights of the Round are all just very strong to begin with, to the point that with the exception of Bedivere, even the weakest knight is considered well above average for a servant. Even then the Gifts don't always make the Knights stronger, just alters them to make them more compliant to the Lion King.
@@atpr3241 Tristan killing villagers like it was nothing. hat was one of the saddest & hardest part to see on the game. 😔 In the Game he was also depicted as a sadistic Villain during Camelot, he even enjoyed bloodshed, However it wasn't his fault, it was because of the *Lion King's Gift "Reversal"* that his Personality had turned 160 Degrees. I am even willing to think he would had join Bedivere's group(Like Lancelot did) if he wasn't under the influence of the "Gift" The Lion King had bestowed upon him. 😭
All of your points are valid. I would like to add that the movie was meant to be from from Bedi's point of view. The studio said that he was the main protagonist of the films.
Okay, your review reminds me of a lot of thing that I need to rant about the movie - the "What could've had but never been". I remember what changed my ideal image of the Round Table is the scene between a Hassan and Tristan. Between them desperatedly trying to save their people, their willingness to sacrified themself, commited suicidal just to beg Tristan to spare the people and Tristan lightly made fun of their choice of word then cruelly assaulted innocent people with just a flick of his finger was what hit me hard. This and the holy selection established the personal need for Fuijimaru Ritsuka, or atleast me, that something was definitely wrong with this Round Table and needed to be dealt with. At the very least, for these innocent people who'd just been slaughtered mercilessly right in front of our eyes! Ironically enough, while fixing the Singulary means every trace of you and the people you met, the things you encountered got wiped, it's also the essential thing for the main character, for Fujimaru to have on this journey. Because they're his/her fuel, the resolve, the reason a normal highschooler could have venture this far throughout hardships. This feelings create a weight that pushed Fujimaru to solve this singularity and a connection for me to anticipated for the next story. And, well, while missing one scene with a good portrait of the other which shares the same meaning is acceptable, but the problem lies here: like Dai said, the characters' characteristics in here weren't built very good or built at all. So even the holy selection - which would've, should've make me burning with rage feels lukewarm. And all I remember was flashy action scene and a very loud blabbering fire ball (sorry Gawain). So, instead of "hints from Ozy + the inhumane act of the Round Table + need to find a way for the refugees to settle down + find the village" that leads the viewers to sniff out the Lion King's suspiciousness and all the while try to protect innocent people in the villages (the one who should've been here in the correct order of time) whom we also gotten close to during our time staying which leads Fujimaru and us the need to defend against Lion King and the Round Table because they won't stop their massacre. No, instead of that, we got "we must fight them", "let's go fight them", "we have to stop them or else" and never really a reason why. I walked out the cinema with my friend (another FGO player) and the only thing I could find to say to her was: "Lucky we didn't invite (another friend who doesn't play FGO) here." That's sad.
I have to say I agree with a lot of points what you say I agree with you about. worst of all I think the general quality of the film compared to the babylon anime are really worlds apart
Though it seemed rushed I still thought it was pretty good. I even ended up crying at the end when Arash used his noble phantasm. All in all I'd say it's worth at least watching it once
i really have to thank Dai here, I dont play the game, I read wikias and watch his explanation videos, so I can watch this movie and understand it, now that stuff is missing and where to really watch. Without your videos I couldnt really enjoy all of Fate. Also lets see how the Final Singularity is being shown, if it becomes like Camelot I would totally scream and rip my hair out. The Final has too many strong emotional scenes
I manage to enjoy the movie since I've already read few online reviews prior to watching it and set my expectations to a lower bar. I can't say it is rushed since it's only the first movie. Tolerable, but needs more improvement esp. with the sequencing and character development. Arash definitely is the MVP here. But for the rest of the servants, most appears bland in comparison (w/c is way too far from how they are in the game). A little overview on why the knights are fighting and why do they tolerate their king's actions will create a huge boost to their characters. Ozy and Nitocris being less smug felt weird to me. Then there's Sanzo, who, of all servants, was asked to accompany Fujimaru in his journey to the vast dessert. If not for the gem, who knows where their group might end up to.
I haven't seen the fil and probably don't want to after this video but I will say this I am happy nitocris and serenity gets a on screen treatment so that is a plus
As small as it was, I liked the small interactions between Ritsuka and Bedivere. I haven't seen anyone mention this in this comment section, but I think the best thing about the movie was the music. This is coming from memory, since I've only watched it once, and that was a while ago, but as bad as the movie was, I think the music helped set the scenes. Personal favorites, the one that played during the opening, and the one that played during Arash's Stella. It's a shame no one has released the soundtrack. Most of the negatives I have with the movie was already said in the video. On the bright side, I've heard the second part was good. So we have something to look forward to.
I mostly agree with what you said here, especially when it comes to an extra 30 or so minutes. I watched it with my besties, and we all went in excited, but by the end of it we were pretty disappointed with how they handled the story, despite loving the action. To me, not only was it rushed, it felt like they switched up events and tried to blow past whatever errors they made resulting from it. Like, Da Vinci felt really out of character for her few minutes on screen. Yes, they still keep her as the fun inventor who can make stuff on the spot, but she isn't the type who would be so open with telling everyone in a singularity who she is and what Chaldea is without being sure that she can trust others enough with that information. Also, I didn't like how they completely did away with Bedivere having a pseudonym only to bring it up once on a throwaway scene after it would have been important to have one. Like, right off the bat, everyone knows that he's Bedivere, even in the scene when he's holding off Gawain (nevermind that Gawain isn't supposed to know or remember Bedivere until the final fight with him, but whatever), but then we get a scene later on with Arash calling him "Lucius". Like, what? And, I can understand cutting characters for the sake of time and pacing. And although I enjoyed Touta, I can see why they would decide to cut him. But, why cut Hundred Personas? They're the reason why the Hassans are able to develop a sense of trust with Ritsuka's group, especially after the initial encounter with them and Nitocris. To me, that was a total waste of what could have been significant character development. I have more to say, but I'll probably continue later on as soon as I have more time and recall more of what my reaction was.
@@OtakuDaiKun I must have missed that part because I remember Da Vinci and Ritsuka's group calling him "Bedivere" before and around the time they faced Gawain.
@@jeffreyherrera5069 Da Vinci does figure his identity out pretty quick. Since the movie removes their first visit to Egypt, that gives even less time for that name to have any purpose.
@@OtakuDaiKun Of course she figures his true identity out (she is our lovable genius, Da Vinci-chan, after all). But she was never about divulging information until she knew it was safe to do so with outsiders, whether about Chaldea or about pseudonyms others are using. As for you saying that they removed the first visit to Egypt, you're making my point for me as far as my issue with the pseudonym here. It was a plot point that was horribly executed here (one among many).
the movie has really good moments. It highlights epic moments like Arash NP or the fights against Gawain or Tristan. But it has huge problems with connection those moments narratively. It jumps from one scene to another with little context of the situation. You don't have really time to process those moments or feel emotionally. eg. Davinci sacrificed herself against Lancelot. As a FGO player you know Davinci since the beginning of the journey and her "death" should have been emotional & should have had an impact for the viewer. But the movie didn't portrait it well and they moved on like it was nothing.
So I haven't watched the movie so this is my pure opinion but when I learnt touta and hundred faces were cut I feared that film may have some pacing issue. Though I am looking forward to seeing my favorite scenes with great animation .
As every adaptions, they have limitations and time restrictions to have to consider. But after seeing part 1 and 2 back to back. The doulogy makes sense on its own and I can understand how they use the inevitable element of cutting content to make the movie more character specific and chose which theme the movie will stand for. (I can now see where the inspiration from the stage play works in this movie) Since it makes the Round Table's story more in the forefront as it comes all down to Bedi, rather than pin it all down to Mash and Fujimaru.
I agree with your analysis. Although the movie had some good moments, it felt really lackluster. Hopefully the second one will be better, but I am worried now about how they will handle some scenes (like Atlas)
apparently someone in reddit said that this movie's script was based on the theater version they made long ago, which made Bedivere the main perspective instead of Ritsuka, which is also how a lot of details got omitted. never seen this theater so I hope someone can confirm this
And for the ones who can answer me Arthoria original's story wil ever be shown in the anime? Like, from what i know, her story was pretty kept original, but i want to see Mordred's development, leading her to kill the king, and the king's face to her reign reduced to ashes, even her later desire to find the grail and save britain. Does the servants remember their animes? Like, does Arthoria remembers her time with Shirou and kiritsugu when she is shown in other series like FGO? Because in fate stay night she keep her memories about Fate Zero. Same for Mordred, in the end of Apochrypha she realizes that she doesn't wanted only to be king cause she was mad at Arthur for not acepting her, she realized that she just wanted to release a bit of her father's burden. I wonder if this movie's mordred have that in mind already. Same for Jeanne D'Arc, supposedly, the first time she was summoned was in Apochrypha, and later she promised Sieg that they would be reunited later, and they do. So i assume that every Jeanne shown in the anime have in mind that she want to be released from her duties one day. Is that right? I always think about that. Okay, i know that the one that is summoned in FGO or in other animes could be before their animes, but still, and it seemed for me that for Arthoria, Jeanne and Mordred, that was their first time. Please, someone clarify this to me!
1) No, Artoria's past will not be shown in Camelot, but there are a couple of Bedivere's flashbacks. This movie works with you already knowing all the lore of the servants appearing at least. 2. In that sense, no, they are not gonna show anything Mordred-related, that already was showed in Apocrypha. 3. No, all the servants that appear in fgo are alternate versions of then that never appeared in other titles. This Artoria is not the same that appears in Zero and Stay Night, Mordred is not the same from Apocrypha and that's basically it for any other servant. Just pretend this is the first time seeing them. Type-moon adds some dialogues as easter eggs to show thet there is, indeed, some link between said cjaracters and their versions from other titles, but basically don't expect fgo Jeanne to be in love with Sieg or romembering something about Apocrypha. I think you get me
@@JoshuaDMarti @OtakuDaiKun Oh i get now how this works, thanks guys, but that's legit sad bruh. But i think i understand they doing that, it would be too much complex and probrably woudn't add anything to the story, in the case of Jeanne, for example. That stil doesn't much sense for me though, based on the lore. But in the case of Mordred, if Apocrypha didn't happaned, woudn't her still want to kill her father? I know that she acctualy admired him above everything, but even so, kinda weird.
I was able to enjoy this film SO MUCH despite not playing the FGO game. Why/how? By watching OtakuDaiKun videos explaining what happened in FGO up until this point.
Fun fact : during babylonia Anime scene were Ritsuka have to slam dunk Quetz at high attitude the animator made mistake made Ritsuka ride Isthar weapon in the scene instead of Isthar grab Ritsuka. The sad thing about both Camelot and Babylonia the direction people responsible made the show doesn't know much idea to make it but hey! At least we have some decent scenes from both shows that you won't see in the game I guess they do want to make it different from the game.
My personal thoughts are that the bedivere fightscenes consisted purely of him swording and then when things fail he simply sworded harder And as a result there isnt much tension in his fights since he only really has two moves?
When it comes to these movie adaptations, I always go in with the lowest expectation: none. In most cases, the movie format is gonna cut things that most ppl believe are necessary so I just enjoy it for what it is. Far from perfect but it's what I expected them to be. The only exception I had was the HF trilogy. The movie format, imo, is the only ways it could of been. A 24 ep series would of been too slow paced for most viewers to handle. Only thing that COULD of been done better was MAYBE a 4th movie but that is a another topic. All in all, this was the 'setup' movie for the big climax for the second one.
@@thorshammer7883 I mean, remember that extraverse works as a digital reality, and magic there is basically digital codes and hacking to force SE.RA.PH to buff their servant. The system there allow the servants to achieve a greater force than what they would normally do in a normal grail war in the earth. The most powerfull servants in Extraverse are basically Servants that escape the system, became some kind of npc virus or hacked themselves to become powerfull. Extraverse is basically fulk of hacks since that's part of its own lore so it's expected that the parameters there are more flexible than normal grail wars.
@@JoshuaDMarti Wouldn't that mean they are limited to the Mooncell and their powers aren't really real? Like how Neo in the Martix is this force to be reckoned with but outside the Matrix not so much.
CloverWorks (the same people who made Babylonia) are the ones making the Solomon adaptation, you just know it's gonna be hella good from that alone CloverWorks is the Ufotable of FGO - trusted and proven themselves
FGO Solomon was good, but Camelot part 2 actually beats it that its ironically funny. Solomon was better than Camelot 1 but after seeing Camelot 2. Solomon would have been better if it were a 2 parter. Camelot 1 made a great emotional foundation and Camelot 2 pays it off. I guess Solomon carries more weight if you rewatch babylonia before it.
Yeah, I agree with your opinions. I don’t get the feeling that the movie add much to my enjoyment of the game, and without having played the game up to or even past that point, the movie doesn’t make sense, or lack any real reason or motivation for things. Another thing is, when consume a story through different media (game, movie, anime, manga), I tend to see the 2 as parallel worlds. It’s the same story, but it’s ok for details to differ because of limitations of the medium (or money). What bugs me most is when characters don’t behave in a recognizable way. Assuming that the viewer has at a minimum played the game until this point, and not seen any of the anime, then there are still 4 people in the movie they should be familiar with. Yet, I did not feel like really know them
This movie is just a like a small story of the game... Im glad that i play the game but im feel sorry for the one who dont play the game but still watching it because of trend
No Hundred Personas huh? And here I was wondering how they would handle Hassan of the Intoxicating Smoke. I wanted to see a design for them that wasn't just HP
Haven’t had a chance to watch yet. Is it or will it be streaming anyplace ? Or is it still in select theaters in select places ? I’ve heard it could be better, but I still wanna check it out.
As soon as this was announced to be a film series years I was immediately pissed because Camelot was my favorite singularity I loved all the characters from Camelot and was invested in the story more so than Babylonia. I’ve come to terms with this since we don’t live in a perfect world and was able to enjoy the film somewhat. It was nice seeing some of my favorite characters animated and fully voiced, the action was short but fun, and I love the fact that now I can buy some Xuanzang merch for my collection. But I couldn’t enjoy fully because of how rushed it was and the removal of most if not all of the comedic scenes which were some of my favorite parts of the Camelot singularity. The director for this if I remember did ep 14 of Babylonia the battle of quetz and ruined the suplex scene by making it more serious. In all honesty while it’s quite unfortunate touta and hundred faces were cut compared to everyone else they are the least important to the overall plot, you don’t really need all the Hassan’s to show their struggle so cutting out hf is fine and touta while he definitely has his scenes and plot relevance you could work around that. The whole food thing with the village could be cut which they did but it wouldn’t get us as invested in the village, there’s him witnessing both sanzang and arash sacrifice but that got worked around with everyone witnessing arash Stella and sanzang battling mordred in the second. Also despite them being a comedic duo sanzang is perfectly fine without touta. While I am a little pissed how they didn’t show best girl sanzang extremely goofy side I think this film and the next show that sanzang is more than comic relief and can be quite serious and is also a very skilled fighter. The upside to Camelot being a film is that they are able to make the characters unique from each and even somewhat capture their artist artstyle like with sanzang and nito. The bab anime wasn’t able to fully capture king Hassan so he incredibly detail and in the end looked kinda goofy but In the films that problem doesn’t exist, I heard the 2nd film is a drastic improvement over the first in terms of animation and characterization though unfortunately is still a little rushed. Both films should have been at the very least two hours and while it’s nice they come out back to back the production of the Camelot films should just have had studio ig work on it even if the release between films would have been longer.
I think the cut part make sense if you consider what the duology is going for. And its aparent where they put the inspiration from the stage play. At least the movie just stick with keeping the camelot(Round table Knight's) story essence. And less about how Fujimaru and Mash gets to know everybody else. Basically I like how Bedivere is the main character in this one. Since its kinda impossible to make the entirety of fgo animated anyways. At least with Babylonia you can be satisfied it has sequel movie to close it off.
Haven't seen it yet, but judging from the removed scenes and characters my concerns are at least justified. I knew that there is no way they can cram the whole Singularity into a couple of movies, there just isn't enough time for this large a cast to have their screen time. It would be like if the Babylonia anime was made in the 12-14 episodes format, I bet you Jaguar Man would be Thanos'd out of existence, and Leonidas plus Benkei role will be reduced as well. If they would of made Camelot as a trilogy set of movies, then they would been able to keep most if not all the scenes in.
The movie had him hate women in the game he only hates his Mother and Lancelot. He is just so serious and focused because of his Mother's betrayal and Lancelot for his. He has issues and I could see him summoned as a beserker but with how he acts I see him as an assassin themed off a typical intelligence head.
i hope the next movie of the Camelot movie would be more great :) since i cant play FGO in My country i was a bit dumbfounded about this movie but thanks for making this video though :)
I believe Fate Series has SOOOO much potential, but only if it is animated correctly. I still think the singularities should be animated in order. And if (HOPEFULLY) the Epic of Remnants and the Lostbelts can be animated as well then Fate can go a LONG way!
Point well made about the cast not being grown in any meaningful way. Hell, case in point: The huge, dramatic sacrifice in the movie filled with slow motion and sad piano music would've been heartwrenching for any of the main characters, but instead I was just sitting there watching like . . . "Wait, what's this guy's name again?"
It is kinda easy to say "more time was needed". I don't know about animation production nor film production. But I do agree a best use of our time, with better dialogs and montages for example, would be much better for the entire runtime. I saw last night, and I felt like wanting to know more about how the people of the singularity lived their daily lives, instead of the Servant's back stories. Would I recommend this film to a non-Fate fan? Only after they see the Babylonia anime. And that is the saddest part. Anyway, I just noticed this video has a "2 weeks ago commentary". Patreons really do get the good shit earlier...
Just got back from the theater from watching Part 2! *Little Spoilers* It is definitely better than Part 1. However, they made quite a few changes that you may or may not like. Also, expect this to be heavily Bedivere-focused. Almost everything else is push to the side. You will also notice that all the budget from both movies went into all the fights during the Battle of Camelot, which was definitely the highlight (reminded me of the Sieg vs Karna animation from Apocrypha). I give it a B score. Worth the watch!
I'm good with watching an anime adaptation of one of my favorite Singularities, especially the cool fights and all, but there's some things that bothered me... The movie had some events switched (like witnessing the Camelot massacre _before_ the visit to Ramesseum Tentyris), not to mention some of my favorite scenes were cut out (stopping Mordred in the middle of raiding a village, the Dance of Death in Azrael Shrine, and even what happened in Chaldea before the crew Rayshifts into Camelot). Also, I agree with the lack of Arash Airlines, Hundred Faces, and our kind Archer of Unlimited Rice... Yeah, Wandering Airgetlam could have been better if given extra minutes. I have yet to see Paladin (or part 2 of the adaptation), so I'm expecting it will be better. Still, the movie captured the emotion of the events quite well, I have to say!
I haven't seen it yet but I wish they would have focused more of the story instead of making it seem like just artificial and I wished they would have focused on the characters we haven't seen in the animes more like ozymandias
I would very much enjoy anime adaptations of all the other Singularities. That could easily help bridge the gap you mentioned. Wait...are they making the Salomon adaptation IN BETWEEN the two Camelot movies, or are they just nearly finished with the second movie, and just advertising what comes next? If so, WHY? That makes very little sense.
Short answer version: As a die hard fan, I can say what others won't and tell you that this movie was swamp ass from the animation to the god awful pacing, like they could've kept this and worked on it a lot longer.
I think why it failed and a huge part of it, is it was a movie unlike bab which had episodes. I think this is the differences within the story not going to Lie.
The movie was ok at best, it seems that if you don't know the plot or the original characters of the game you're gonna be confused and lost. So it makes it much more difficult for any new fans to jump the bandwagon of FGO. Still the movie felt a little rushed, but overall I was entertained.
Having watch part 2, I can say part 1 establiahed a really great foundation for what they are going for. Alone its an okay movie but it is reallu great if you watch it back to back with part 2.
this movie disappointed me, I and many other anime onlys were able to enjoy the Babilonia anime even without having played the game which is a testament to the adaptation, however, Camelot just wasn't like that, I never felt lost in the story but it still wasn't engaging, it felt more like a well-animated recap of something I haven't seen than a proper adaptation of a story that stands on its own, I honestly have more fun with your recaps, which is more of a testament to your work than a diss to the movie lol.
-Nitocris's being kidnapped at the start of the movie not present. It would help with Nitocris's relationship with the main cast in context much later. -Gawain jobbing early into the movie. He was never really defeated. The cast barely escaped from him thanks to Bedivere. -The Round Tables "Gift" gimmick not present, which is kinda important to the story. -No Nitocris and Sanzang shenanigans. Their personalities were somehow bland. Where's my cute haughty short tempered Nitocris trying to look cool but failing? Where's my crybaby Sanzang motor mouthing about weird things? -Ozy's head sliding off. -No Arash airline. -Touta is missing. -Da Vinci's sacrifice felt a bit weak somehow. It was just there without context. -Speaking of Da Vinci, no fun scene of Da Vinci building the vehicle. The movie should've had episodes instead of a movie, like Babylonia. On a related note, I wonder if Holmes is going to appear in the next part. While its not too important to the movie itself, its needed if there is going to be a EoR and Lostbelt anime adaption for context.
So, what are your thoughts on the film?
It was really rushed..hope part 2 would be better
I hope that part 2 is better thats all
Tbh I’m just happy to see mordred animated again
They took out my rice man and hundred faced Hassan unacceptable
If you did not play through Camelot don't watch the movie
I would be interested in the Shinjuku arc, and please, for once, with the female protagonist.
There are some important scenes that removed, and not so important scene that added.
But we can see Bedi slapping the hell out of everyone so that's a win for me.
i swear i read that the movie is based of the stage play, i could have made the mistake of misreading it though...
@@whorifiied It was true actually
@@whorifiied there's a stage play?
That's half the problem. He shouldn't be slapping the hell out of everyone. Tristan and Gawain were done way too dirty.
And part 1 was a really good build up for part 2 especially if you watch the movies back to back
As a Pilipino i really love the servant fan art of lapu lapu
I wonder what his noble phantasm and p.s. its quite nice to see a FGO pinoy fan !! Mabuhay!
That honestly threw me for a loop. I was like, "Wait . . . since when are we relevant?!?"
Was very cool to see, nonetheless.
*filipino
Yea philipines
We need Jose Rizal as well, then.
Was anybody else bothered by Rushd being really sad and depressed? In the game, he was shown to have been putting on a brave face and having an intuitive understanding that Cursed Arm is his dad. Makes his character really one-dimensional.
In his defense....he watched his mother die
Plus it did still that he was kinda brave when he and others who were given refuge in ozys kingdom he and others chose to go with ritsuka and mashu
After watching part 2, I can say part 1 was a really great build up for part 2.
Another was It creates a feel in fans like "Yeah , they'll figure something out !"
They should've shown that scene of serinity's captur in front of them by tristan , showing their powerlessness to just watch it from hiding ( just like in babylonia against enkidu, jagaur, quetzalcoatal mash and others were powerless and after gorgon appeared it make the feels the level of threat the singularity holds.)
The best part they've shown is the different style of fighting of each knight of round table.

@@monke4163 I thought I was the only one.
I’m friggin wheezing xD dai’s hands are moving so much
Not even a mentioned of the Lion King's Gifts to her Knights 😔
Isn’t that the most important part as to why the knights are so ridiculously strong?
@@KhanMann66 That's correct, Especially Gawain in Particular.
@@KhanMann66 it's also super important for other knights like Tristan whose alignment was inversed hence why kills so many villagers. They really undersold how brutal he was in the game
@KhaanMan66
Not entirely.
In the Game he was also depicted as a sadistic Villain during Camelot, he even enjoyed bloodshed, However it wasn't his fault, it was because of the *Lion King's Gift "Reversal"* that his Personality had turned 160 Degrees.
I am even willing to think he would had join Bedivere's group(Like Lancelot did) if he wasn't under the influence of the "Gift" The Lion King had bestowed upon him. 😭
Thank You Daikun, I could not have said it any better.
I agree with everything you said, but i have to love this film. Why? STELLAAAAAAA
Same, they did our boy Justice and for that I'm grateful
I enjoyed this movie despite its flaws, and I hated that every review I saw was calling it trash. I liked that your video was fair and objective
Glad to hear someone else vent the same complaints I had regarding the film.
All of your points are valid. I would like to add that the movie was meant to be from from Bedi's point of view. The studio said that he was the main protagonist of the films.
This Video's first 11 seconds: ( Shows a Filipino hero )
Me: ( 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗗 𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗢𝗬 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗘𝗦 )
😅
Me, the whole movie: Now gimme Arash Airline!
I walked out the cinema with my friend (another FGO player) and the only thing I could find to say to her was: "Lucky we didn't invite (another friend who doesn't play FGO) here."
That's sad.
I realy hope afor a full manga adaptation of the entire fatw go story
I have to say I agree with a lot of points what you say I agree with you about. worst of all I think the general quality of the film compared to the babylon anime are really worlds apart
sanzangs story wont be given justice if tawawa wont be there ... :_:
da vinci chan's send off fell like, allright ima headout now.
Though it seemed rushed I still thought it was pretty good. I even ended up crying at the end when Arash used his noble phantasm. All in all I'd say it's worth at least watching it once
Same, and I needed a good cry
I agree with every point that you make...... Although Arash's NP was the reason why i felt the movie was watchable
i really have to thank Dai here, I dont play the game, I read wikias and watch his explanation videos, so I can watch this movie and understand it, now that stuff is missing and where to really watch.
Without your videos I couldnt really enjoy all of Fate.
Also lets see how the Final Singularity is being shown, if it becomes like Camelot I would totally scream and rip my hair out. The Final has too many strong emotional scenes
i see you're a man of cultre, was about to write about Arash Airlines when you started about missing things but you didn't forget it :D
5:52 But I did found some deleted scenes of them in giving rice to the people it my be small but I happy to see them in it at least
Personally I think it would be really cool if fgo were to make the four horsemen of the apocalypse into servants in a future update for the game
They didn't get rid of the pseudonym. He introduced himself as Lucius to a couple people and later apologized for it.
It was a plot point that was horribly executed here (one among many).
o wow it was finally released will have to watch I personally enjoyed reading this singularity more than Babylonia.
it kind of bugged me that we didn't get the part where ritsuka and group save nitocris and the camelot part came before the oz part
I was there for Arash Airlines. But all I got was STELLLAAAAAA
Seems like covid made the Arash airlines stop for this movie
The Stella was really peaceful though. But yes....... Omitting Arash Airlines was a mistake. You know what's worse? No Ozy or Nitocris fights.
“The symbols on him are epic”
I don’t know why that made me laugh it just did
I didn't know what else to call them lol.
You know what, a fan art is better then nothing from my country
the movie has really good moments.
As a FGO player you know Davinci since the beginning of the journey
and her "death" should have been emotional & should have had an impact for the viewer.
Hopefully the second one will be better, but I am worried now about how they will handle some scenes (like Atlas)
apparently someone in reddit said that this movie's script was based on the theater version they made long ago, which made Bedivere the main perspective instead of Ritsuka, which is also how a lot of details got omitted. never seen this theater so I hope someone can confirm this
I wouldn't be surprised.
And for the ones who can answer me
Arthoria original's story wil ever be shown in the anime?
I think you get me
We've had quite a few parts of her backstory animated, but never anything from start to finish.
Thank Salomon, I'm not the only one thinking that
I was able to enjoy this film SO MUCH despite not playing the FGO game.
My personal thoughts are that the bedivere fightscenes consisted purely of him swording and then when things fail he simply sworded harder
And as a result there isnt much tension in his fights since he only really has two moves?
When it comes to these movie adaptations, I always go in with the lowest expectation: none. In most cases, the movie format is gonna cut things that most ppl believe are necessary so I just enjoy it for what it is. Far from perfect but it's what I expected them to be. The only exception I had was the HF trilogy. The movie format, imo, is the only ways it could of been. A 24 ep series would of been too slow paced for most viewers to handle. Only thing that COULD of been done better was MAYBE a 4th movie but that is a another topic. All in all, this was the 'setup' movie for the big climax for the second one.
I got a question.
How powerful are the servants of Fate Extra and why are they so much more powerful then their normal versions?
They aren't necessarily more powerful in Extra.
@@OtakuDaiKun
But what about Fate Extra CCC where they apparently have universal powers?
@@thorshammer7883 I mean, remember that extraverse works as a digital reality, and magic there is basically digital codes and hacking to force SE.RA.PH to buff their servant. The system there allow the servants to achieve a greater force than what they would normally do in a normal grail war in the earth. The most powerfull servants in Extraverse are basically Servants that escape the system, became some kind of npc virus or hacked themselves to become powerfull. Extraverse is basically fulk of hacks since that's part of its own lore so it's expected that the parameters there are more flexible than normal grail wars.
@@thorshammer7883 Like BB? She's an entirely different case. Anything crazy they do is more thanks to the Moon Cell than their own individual might.
@@JoshuaDMarti
Wouldn't that mean they are limited to the Mooncell and their powers aren't really real?
Like how Neo in the Martix is this force to be reckoned with but outside the Matrix not so much.
CloverWorks (the same people who made Babylonia) are the ones making the Solomon adaptation, you just know it's gonna be hella good from that alone
CloverWorks is the Ufotable of FGO - trusted and proven themselves
FGO Solomon was good, but Camelot part 2 actually beats it that its ironically funny.
Solomon was better than Camelot 1 but after seeing Camelot 2. Solomon would have been better if it were a 2 parter.
Camelot 1 made a great emotional foundation and Camelot 2 pays it off.
I guess Solomon carries more weight if you rewatch babylonia before it.
More True Assassin, that’s all I need to hear.
Can't wait for the Snyder cut :P
No Hundred Personas huh? And here I was wondering how they would handle Hassan of the Intoxicating Smoke. I wanted to see a design for them that wasn't just HP
Haven’t had a chance to watch yet. Is it or will it be streaming anyplace ? Or is it still in select theaters in select places ? I’ve heard it could be better, but I still wanna check it out.
It hasn't had any official English release yet. I imagine it will in time. I watched the fansub version.
I'm surprised you and Kitasean thought the same about watching Dean stay night over this movie. Then again I thought so too
As soon as this was announced to be a film series years I was immediately pissed because Camelot was my favorite singularity I loved all the characters from Camelot and was invested in the story more so than Babylonia.
The bab anime wasn’t able to fully capture king Hassan so he incredibly detail and in the end looked kinda goofy but In the films that problem doesn’t exist,
I heard the 2nd film is a drastic improvement over the first in terms of animation and characterization though unfortunately is still a little rushed.
It felt rushed, and they might've screwed over Riceman and Hundo Face but they did Arash and Bedi well and for that reason I enjoyed it
Agravain didn't feel like a saber servant he seems more like an assassin.
I think he more of a berserker to me
@@desmondmalone438 how is he a beserker
@@overseerlemoine4707 his hatred for women, human and Lancelot is what made him mad
The movie had him hate women in the game he only hates his Mother and Lancelot. He is just so serious and focused because of his Mother's betrayal and Lancelot for his. He has issues and I could see him summoned as a beserker but with how he acts I see him as an assassin themed off a typical intelligence head.
@@overseerlemoine4707 yeah there some berserker that has intelligence I’d think he one those types as well
Artoria in the thumbnail looks so defeated
She is dying lol

i hope the next movie of the Camelot movie would be more great :) since i cant play FGO in My country i was a bit dumbfounded about this movie but thanks for making this video though :)
Have you seen the 15 min from the part 2 ?
Not yet.
Otaku i saw some parts i might try watching it and saw some awsome like our kohai went beserk and arashes np
I think they made this movie just for bedi that's why its more detailed in the parts with him in it.
Just got back from the theater from watching Part 2!
*Little Spoilers*
It is definitely better than Part 1.
They're being made by different studios. It's possible Solomon will release before Camelot 2.
Where can I watch this with English subs??
Short answer version: As a die hard fan, I can say what others won't and tell you that this movie was swamp ass from the animation to the god awful pacing, like they could've kept this and worked on it a lot longer.
Still don't get it why they cut the 100 face kidnapping nicrotis at the beginning... it's the trigger that lead to everything.
0:59-3:53 that the limitations of movies like this
When's the north American release?
Dunno.
Can anybody tell me why the characters kept referring to Artoria as they? Is it to do with the royal we thing?
Probably. I didn't notice them doing that.
@@OtakuDaiKun Rewatch it and you will. Everytime they refer to her in the third person, it's the plural that's used.
@@BradLad56 I watched it in fansub so it's possible I never saw that.
What i really want is an lostbelt animated
Even though Leonidas is cannon fodder for all those solo videos for specific servants
LAPU LAPU SABER POG?! Alas he'd probably be a 1 star... eh Anti-Spanish meme unit it is then
5:38 Actually I close to Camelot so I am almost there just need to be Medb and Cu Altar
I would be nice we could see more servant from filipino myth like Lapu-lapu or Bakunawa as a pseudo servant
At this point, I just hope they don't botch or cut out Mash scolding Lancelot.
Funny you say that cuz jp just loaded the first 15 min of part 2 into the game and it has the scene. It was excellent.
Haven't seen it but I've heard mixed things
I think why it failed and a huge part of it, is it was a movie unlike bab which had episodes. I think this is the differences within the story not going to Lie.
lol why r there comments from 2 weeks ago lol
Do you forget that Members get earlier time watching the video?

After you watched the TV series, what do you expect www
Or people that watch your let’s plays of Camelot!
Release the OtakuDaiKun Cut :P
It really seems like they are trying to do an avengers endgame thing but it ends up like the justice league.
Luckily the 2nd Movie’s 15 minute preview looks *way* better than 99% of movie 1. Deadass.
