    some notes: in some traditions ive seen, Gilgamesh eventually does settle down and has his own son as a result of Siduri's influence. Should also be mentioned that aside Enkidu who became his adopted brother , Gil did respect his parents and Siduri for their wisdom.
    Gil does seem to have a soft spot for some people when he became a servant as seen with his relationship with Hakuno (CCC/Extella) and Fujimaru (FGO)

      His mood is heavily affected by the surroundings of the world he's summoned it. In F/Z, he's summoned in a modern world where abundance and overpopulation make everything looks worthless to his eyes, with a Master he barely acknowledged. In F/E CCC, the moon cell is a new world for him, a world far more enjoyable, and he appreciate Hakuno who rely on him but don't lick his boots. In F/GO, Chaldea is home to many heroes, plenty of whom he respect, and the organisation is trying to save the world against untold evil, this is paradise for him. In F/SF, he totally is in the same mood as in F/Z in the beginning, and don't respect that much his master, even if he acknowledge her devotion, but the moment he realize Enkidu is there too his mood goes far better, and he even start to appreciate his young master that support him as a follower rather than a master.

    a little bit of correction... Caster Gilgamesh is exclusive only to the events of the Babylonia Singularity in FGO. he distributed his melee weapons not because of his kindness, although he already was a benevolent king at this point, but instead because the weapons themselves were used as defense mechanisms (specifically as bullets for the Dingirs) against whatever the hell was happening in that Singularity
    remember that Singularities are points in history that are altered and should not have existed so Gil in his Caster version can only exist within this Singularity
    meaning that he definitely did NOT distribute his weapons in actual history. instead ALL the weapons in his treasury(except Ea and and the Chains of Heaven, of course) were scattered all over the world after his death. which in turn became the blueprints people needed to create the various Noble Phantasms that future heroes will use in their legends.
    this is also proven by the fact that mages will never be able to summon the Caster version of Gilgamesh because he doesn't technically exist. even if a mage uses the remnants of the skin from the snake that ate the herb, it's still going to be Archer Gil that comes out.
    he wasn't even really a "Caster" in babylonia, that's just what his character's class in the game is. he was still alive in Babylonia therefore he isn't a servant. and when he died and summoned himself AS a servant, who do we see?? Archer Gilgamesh of course.

    • @alispeed5095
      @alispeed5095 8 місяців тому +12

      You can summon "caster" gil. He just wont have the limitations caster Gil had in babylonia since those were limited as you say to that singularity. This is because servants can be summoned at different stages in life. If Gil is summoned when he is older (post enkidu death) his temperament will be his caster self.
      However when it comes to his abilities, they will be standard, Gil is incapable of reducing his wealth. Its beyond his control. THe gate of babylon post his death became isolated to a place similar to the throne of heroes, outside space and time and with measures like "collector EX" in place and Gils status as the first hero, he is incapable of reducing his items in the gate, they simply keep increasing.
      Remember those swords he threw away in fate zero? They were re-added into the treasury anyway. If you summon him in say fate strange fake, he would have them. And this is interesting, though Gil can not reduce the items, nothing says he can not add. This is seen with him showing interest in collecting Karnas Vasavi Shakti in one of those moon cell games. Its really broken.
      So if a mage summoned "caster" Gil. Yes he does qualify for the class, even Grand caster itself. You will get archer Gil interms of power and items but with different clothes and mindset or to be more specific patience. Its imo safer to summon Gil in this state since chances of him killing you are way less and you suffer no loss in fire power. He still has EA and sword spam + in this form he is fine with abusing his clairvoyance.

      @@alispeed5095 well... yes...
      that's kinda the point
      regardless of what personality Gil has when he is summoned, he will still appear as an Archer not as a Caster. he is in fact qualified for 5 out of the 7 original classes (Assassin and Berserker are the ones he can not be) tha doesn't mean any mage can just summon him as a Saber or a Lancer. that's because he doesn't fight like the other 4 classes.
      the only reason he fought with the various staffs and spellbooks in Babylonia was because he literally did not have any other options since he disctributed his melee weapons as ammo for the dingirs so in a way that made him a "Caster" but again, he was still alive in the Babylonia Singularity so he wasn't even a servant. the reason Gil as a Caster is a game exclusive and can not be replicated in universe because it is quite literally impossible.
      just like you said. you can summon Gil with his personality as a "Caster" but he will NOT appear as a Caster because the throne literally does not have any records of him losing his melee weapons in canon history. so he will STILL appear as an Archer.
      also, being qualified for the Grand Caster slot isn't really that impressive... literally the only requirement is to have a very high rank in Clairvoyance... which is weird since one should be the pinnacle of using magecraft when in that position but sure futuresight alone is fine.. but Gil's unique Clairvoyance doesn't even matter that much since he barely uses it so it doesn't matter if he's a candidate or not, no mage is going to be able to summon him as a Caster because he just can't be one the throne just doesn't have any historical records of him acting as a Caster... honestly you'd have a better chance of summoning him as a Saber or Lancer because he did used to fight against and with Enkidu using melee combat (although even with that the chances for summing him as a Saber or Lancer or even Rider is still really low, you'd have better luck summoning in FGO's story banner) and I doubt he used bows for those but Caster??? please, Gil saw Enkidu start throwing weapons made from clay once and his first response was to yeet his own weapons back, ya think he'd have wasted his time reading magic books and casting long a$$ incantations???

    • @Lobomaru02
      @Lobomaru02 8 місяців тому +6

      Not necessarily. Remember that the Throne of Heroes exists outside of time completely. And it _can_ make interesting decisions. Recall that among the Knights of the Round Table, it is said that Sir Bedivere was the only one not to be recorded into the Throne because he had no great fame and legends to his name. _However._ After the events of the Camelot Singularity, that specific version of Bedivere was recorded into the Throne in recognition of his heroic actions within that Singularity.
      In much the same way, Caster Gil from Babylonia could also have been recorded as a Gilgamesh that qualifies for the Caster class. He was classed as such because while he never studied magecraft, the magic staves and tablets that remained within his treasury were powerful enough to compensate. And he _did_ possess enough mana to summon eight Servants prior to the arrival of Chaldea. The main reason he did little during those events until the climax was because he was still recovering the mana he spent. And upon succumbing to the wound he took for Fujimaru, he used his own body as a catalyst to summon himself from the Throne of Heroes in his prime so that he could use the full force of his treasury against Tiamat. Including Ea.

      @@Lobomaru02 hmm that thing about Bedivere is true.
      but...
      wow this actually complicates things
      if the throne does in fact take into consideration, feats from non-canon history like singilaries then wouldn't pseudo-singularities like the events of the Epic of Remnant and Lostbelts count too??
      for example..
      Nebuchadnezzar II using Gil's body during the Beast Nero event. since technically speaking that is an alternative version of the Babylonia Singularity and A Singularity.. would it be possible then to summon Nebuchadnezzar in Gil's body using a relic from Gil's legend? it is Gil's body the personality however is just that of a different person.. or how about summoning Gilgamesh using any relic related to Nebuchadnezzar??
      this is just got more confusing tbh

    one thing i've heard is that caster and archer gil are the same person, and the reason he acts differently is entirely due to the circumstances of where he is, in the grail wars he sees the future of mankind, his garden, at its worst and thus seeks to, in his own way, remove the weed and set it right, where as in FGO the babylonian singularity he's at his home, with people he's actually proud to lead, the future hasn't happened yet, so he fights for the future that hasn't yet gone bad, and thus is way nicer.

    • @mocha13
      @mocha13  8 місяців тому +10

      This is correct. I explained it in a little more detail on another comment. But it's not just the circumstances of where he is. The person summoning him, the purpose of the summoning, and the artifact used to summon, all play a part too. But it's also worth noting that the grail can also simply select a snapshot of the person in the Throne of Heroes, and in the case of Fate Stay Night Gil, it selected Archer Gilgamesh (so how he behaved before the events with the Herb).

    Gil also has nine lives which is not a version of Heracles' technique but a weapon version in the form of a ballista (has appeared in fate kailed). BTW the reason why Gilgamesh's weapon is stronger than the other hero versions is because Gilgamesh's weapon has a higher mystery and generally in the nasuverse the higher the mystery an object has, the stronger it will be.

      Also a hero can have a legend say gae bolg where in said legend the spear is nerfed massively by a witch, if Cu is summoned, that nerf in his legend will reflect on the gae bolg he is summoned with. However this would not be true for the gae bolg Gil owns. It would be as fresh as when it was first made.

I felt like you could've "elongated" some parts a little bit more, but that is not to say that the video was not good, quite the contrary, seeing as this is genuinely one of the best videos I've seen both cover Gil and his story. You managed to get a lot of information across whilst also explaining it in a comprehensive manner, which is something I respect. 9:03 Gilgamesh does not possess Excalibur in his treasury. Gate of Babylon contains every single piece of man-made weapon ever created, but Excalibur is a Divine Construct, not a man-made weapon. In general, while he does possess a few of his own, Gate of Babylon does not include Divine Constructs such as, as mentioned, Excalibur, Karna's Vasavi Shakti nor his Armor etc.
    Also... Nine Lives is not a weapon (the "True Nine Lives" Kid Gil pulls out in Illya is... whatever, and exclusive to Prillya which is known to just do and be its own thing within the Nasuverse). Nine Lives is a technique Herakles came up with by himself, and as such Gilgamesh can't possess it

      @@ryuhardt In fact, the only requirement to be in the GoB is to be made OR owned by mankind, when it was made and by whom it doesn't matter,
      ''Regardless of what end he met, the fact remained that Uruk flourished as a nation of magnificent splendor under the rule of Gilgamesh. His vault was said to contain all of the works of gods and men, and it was rumored that they were the original versions of all Noble Phantasms used by heroes of later ages.'',
      ''Dozens, hundreds, thousands of Noble Phantasms came raining down onto the man standing in the center of the tornado. At times, they were blades, at times they were knowledge, at times they were pain. There had been a long sword that slayed an oriental dragon. There had been a demonic sword that brought ruin. There had been a spear that killed heroes. There had been lightning without form. The originals of all the Noble Phantasms humanity had obtained or created were propelled unsparingly. A hellish rain spun by mankind was fired in all directions in 360 degrees.'',
      ''The story of Gilgamesh - mankind oldest hero - was imitated in the mythology of countries all over the world.
      The starting point of every legend, the model of all heroes..... it probably wouldn't be an exaggeration to say it like that.
      To a greater or lesser extent, the heroes of various myths have derived from Gilgamesh's legend.
      Therefore, it has been arranged so that Gilgamesh possesses the prototypes of the Noble Phantasms that all heroes carry..... the treasure of foundation from before each and every myth was arranged.
      This is a paradox, but because without Gilgamesh - as the original - holding them, the Noble Phantams will not be handed down to the hands of the heroes of thereafter - as the expansions''
      So yeah until proven otherwise, Gil has the prototype of excalibur and any other weapon being divine or not, there are exceptions of course but it has to be proven that they are not, Gil just having weapons made by humans is headcanon

    A bit of a correction, Gil doesn't have Excalibur in Gate of Babylon, he has the predecessor of Caliburn the sword of selection Merodach of the Norse myth, Excalibur, Avalon and Rhonogomyniad, three of Saber's strongest Noble Phantasms are not within GOB because these are divine creations. Although it was mentioned in Strange Fake that he uses Merodach to see if an opponent is worthy of Ea or not, Caliburn and Merodach are similar in fire power and both can function as Holy Swords but both are not as powerful as Excalibur. Excalibur in some myths is said to be created from Caliburn but in some others it was not the in Fate has nothing to do with Caliburn, it is a different sword thus having no prototype.

    • @mocha13
      @mocha13  9 місяців тому +8

      Thanks!
      The reason for Ea, specifically being Archer Gilgamesh's weapon and not Caster Gilgamesh's weapon was mainly due to the nature of the weapon and the difference in character between Archer and Caster Gil.
      For example, both Ea and Melammu Dingir have destructive capabilities, but Melammu Dingir is used as a defense mechanism to protect Uruk whereas Enuma Elish is usually purely offensive, and I personally attribute that to the differences between Archer and Caster Gil.
      It wasn't to say that Ea isn't Caster Gil's weapon, but more so that it it's Archer Gil's weapon that Caster Gil still happens to possess, and has the ability to use if he so wishes.
      I would've been more clear on that but uhm... I forgot lol.

    The interesting thing about Gilgamesh is that he isn't much of a hero. He started out as a benevolent and wise king, but he became arrogant and had to be chastised by the gods, that's why Enkidu was created. He's rather cowardly, without Enkidu goading him he wouldn't have dared to do the 'heroics' he wanted to do to become famous, all of his 'quests' basically ended in failure, in the end, he doesn't really accomplish anything he sets out to do. He's not a hero for his deeds or character, he's a hero for the knowledge he brought back from his failed quest. A lot of it rather seems like a humbling tale for his arrogance towards the gods, for which he is punished severely, misremembered today as a heroic tale. His deeds were ultimately for his own vanity and it cost him everything. At least that's his story in the epic of Gilgamesh, his most famous surviving record.

      Oh wow. I'll be honest, I didn't know a lot of that. It's certainly an interesting take. Of course, it's quite unlike the Gil we know, but I suppose that's what makes it so interesting. Thanks for teaching me something!

    There is just two more parts to Gilgamesh’s story in Fate… and that takes us to the end of the world and the moon. I don’t know the moon part too well but I can say that, after the world was destroyed, he was summoned by the Last Master of Humanity to a place called Chaldea. There, he spent his time with well over a hundred different servants and, of course, one of them was Enkidu.
    They met again. And this time, they had plenty of time to catch up as saving the world came about pretty slowly.

    Archer Gilgamesh can't defeat Tiamat or any matured Beast like her. Beast class or Evils of humanity can beat even the serious Gilgamesh but as long they reach full maturity. What make the Beast class so powerful and dangerous is they can literally cheat the system, this power is called the nega-skill plus their own unique traits and other broken skills. Tiamat's nega-skill is called nega-genesis, which allows her to recreate the universe and any servant(with the exception of few) would get insta-kill. This is how important the Grand servants are, their purpose is to counter the Beast class and give humanity a fighting chance.
    Fun fact. Gilgamesh can qualify as a Grand Caster due to his broken clairvoyance. People tend to underestimate Caster Gil but the dude can also cheat the system like temporarily changing his saint graph into his archer self.
    To describe the context of the fight. Tiamat was constantly holding back, she developed this kind of passive skill because of her love for humanity. In other words she was contradicting herself because of her very twisted motherly love. Which means if Tiamat stop holding back the protagonist's group would never win and her mud will engulf the entire world.
    King Hassan technically did half of the job like giving advice that would help the protagonist, giving the tablet of destiny back to Gilgamesh, cutting her wing to prevent her from returning to the land of the living, making Tiamat killable and also causing her spirit origin to vulnerable as normal servant. Because of that, the rules of underworld was able to be fully applied to Tiamat making her even weaker. Not to mention Merlin and Ereshkigal buffing the entire team.
    Though Gilgamesh is still a vital part in defeating Tiamat because he had the firepower to fully destroy Tiamat's body. Though Tiamat didn't fully died because her soul is still in the imaginary numbers/another dimension. And she had a change of hearts and she is kind enough to send her servant self to help humanity and preserve the world.

    Keep in mind that Servants are basically the equivalent of Naruto's Shadow Clone Jutsu. The Servant Gilgamesh we see was merely a copy created by the Grail in order to be used as a sacrifice. The Heroic Spirit Gilgamesh residing in the Throne of Heroes is far far more powerful.

      True. It makes his battle with Enkidu in Strange/Fake even more impressive. Imagine what they could have done at their full powers.

    By Type-Moon rules more
    Time = more Mystery = Stronger.
    Prototypes predate otiginals making them have more Mystery.
    It's like with Siegfrieds sword Balmung, which was later wielded by his wife. His wifes using Noble Phantasm Balmung (even has a different name) is likely slightly lesser than Siegfrieds, but not by a significant amount. But the one Gilgamesh has would have thausands of years over Siegfrieds, making it have more Mystery.
    Though he only has all weapons of Human origin. The Reverse side being considerdd to be another world.
    Karnas Lance is literally stated to not be in Gilgamesh's treasury.
    Excalibur, which was likely in Avalon at the time should also not be in his treasury.
    Also while Archer Gilgamesh killing Tiamat alone would be impossible. Tiamat can continue living as long as there are living beings in the world, he would have needed at the very least Ereshkigals help.

    An outstanding video, you captured all the aspects of what made Gilgamesh such a compelling and complex character but I would like to point out some misconceptions mentioned in the video.
    1. As stated by many others, the Gates of Babylon only stores weapons/treasures pertaining to Humanity, it doesn't hold Divine Constructs nor does it have any foreign/alien weapons(Altera's sword as an example). Though there are exceptions, like the Prototype Weapon, Merodach: The Original Sin, the Prototype of Caliburn, the original sword in the stone. The reason why Excalibur is a Divine Construct is because it was forged by the Lady of the Lake and was given to Artoria.
    2. Ea, or Enuma Elish is considered as an Anti-World, not an Anti-Universe Noble Phantasm. But it doesn't mean it can destroy the world, no. Far from it, as DaVinci said during the Pseudo-Singularity, Shinjuku, there is not a single Noble Phantasm possessed by a Servant that can destroy the world. Anti-World refers to being able to destroy the texture of the world but not the planet. If you were referring to his Fate/Extra CCC variant, where he's been buffed to even surpass BB. It isn't an ideal way to scale his power since that is a one-time buff that could severely damage the Servant's Spirit Origin.
    Still, it was a good video! You earned a sub and I'll be waiting for more Fate Analysis videos.

      That davinci statement is always taken out of context even by you. "No Np can destroy the world....... because counter measures ie COUNTER FORCE exist to prevent such things" We have things like Rhongominiad working to hold the textures together and maintain balance.
      However, weapons that have capacity to destroy the world exist. In a world where the counter force has been neutralized you can easily destroy the world. Look at Goddess rhongo in camelot. She had the ability to do it. Then we have arjuna alter who was casually doint it coz said counter measures were inactive in his Lostbelt.
      And YES, the counter force can be blind sided if you have the smarts and power to pull it off. Magicians for instance have the potential to. Its hard but to destroy the world, the defenses need to be turned off first.

      @Skulldren2288 8 місяців тому

      @@alispeed5095 With backreading, I can confirm that there truly exists Noble Phantasms that can end the world, but most are examples of their living counterparts. The only instance we've seen a Servant close to destroying the Planet would be James Moriarty. Though it was an unconventional method which involved transforming an asteroid into a magic bullet, and having fused with the Freeshooter, Der Freuschtz.
      While yes, destroying the Planet's core itself would end the world, but there are no other examples that seem plausible.
      As Holmes stated in Shinjuku,
      " ...It's not possible to destroy the world. Goetia's objective may have been different, but his plan still took 3,000 years to come to fruition. However, it IS possible to remove the world from history. In other words... "[1]
      Though your statement does have a semblance of truth.
      " It is true that with the world divided, Earth's safeguards would fail to work. Nonetheless, destroying the entire planet should remain utterly unfathomable. "[2] While yes, destroying the World(Gaia), but the term is complicated as it refers to The Planet, Gaia, and the Counter Force.
      Although, going back with the examples of Goddess Rhongomyniad and Arjuna Alter, both are examples of their living selves, not their servant forms. The same could be said for Gilgamesh, in his prime, that is his living self he was capable of destroying the world with ease. As a servant, he cannot do so, the only thing he can do is destroy its textures.
      In Arjuna Alter's case, yes, he is indeed shown capable of destroying the planet to nitpick and exterminate any defectives in his lostbelt. But again, that is a living breathing god that consumed all other gods of Indian myth, and it still takes him about hours or maybe a day to recharge and be able to do so again.
      "When Arjuna Alter is summoned as a Servant of Chaldea, he is not able to wield the sword to its full extent. That said, if limited and condensed, the destruction it causes is equal to that of Pashupata and Arjuna seems to find its ease of use in that form to be sufficient."[3]
      So yes, I do agree that it IS possible, it just needs an extreme amount of resources and energy to do so. I'll edit my statement above to be more clearer.

      @mocha13  8 місяців тому +1

      Sure! UA-cam doesn't usually allow links so I can't directly share any sources, but Google "Gilgamesh Britannica" and it should be the first link. There's also the World History Encyclopedia and finally, if you go on Wikipedia and scroll right to the bottom, there's a bunch of great sources (though the page itself is quite helpful albeit lacks depth). But the main thing here is to check "Further Reading" where there is a lot of good material, especially "The Epic of Gilgamesh", "Sumerian Mythology", "The Buried Book", and "The Ancient World". Hope that helps!

    His gate of Babylon does have something that can be considered the prototype of Excalibur. As long as hero have a weapon use. Gilgamesh will have something that can be consider a prototype of that weapon, because he is the first hero. Without him having it, later hero won’t have that weapon. However his prototype are not consider be consider divine construct and usually weaker compare to the divine construct part. Example Vajra and the divine version use by divine spirit are not being label divine construct even though it was use by gods. Indra, Kama, Vritia, and god of Buddhism in nasuverse. Summer raikou vajra was A+ rank and not label divine construct and all of them have their own difference in appearance. Also in nasuverse he went back for the herb of immortality to finish his collection.

      Mass murder, working his people to death from exhaustion, torture, claiming ownership of women, stating that he is allowed to sleep with any woman before her wedding night, etc. Most of these pertain to what he did with women, which hopefully doesn't need much explaining, but some reports also suggest that children were not spared either. Finally, there's also the fact that Humbaba was actually the protector of the forest, and when Gilgamesh defeated him, Humbaba pleaded for his life, as his job was to care for the creatures in the forest, but Gilgamesh (and Enkidu) decapitated him regardless.

Or Maybe even killuas manipulative family and how he had to question himself to find out who he truly is. If none of those suit you then kurapikas Absession with revenge and how even through the eyes of the hero how revenge can be a productive but destructive force.
