Bit by bit the proud king drew me in more and more, till I reached a point, where I was no better than a love sick Shirou chasing endlessly after a distant star he could never even dare to reach. She lead a sad, yet so dazzling life, not once straying from her ideals. Strong, proud, unwavering, but on the other hand so frail and alone. It fits so perfectly, that she thought it was all her fault, that she is nothing more than a sinner that has to repent, not deserving the slightest bit of happiness. Again I found myself to agree with Shirou, she did all she could, gave everything she had not wanting anything else than her peoples prosperity. She should be rewarded if anything, no she had to be rewarded. She should be prouder than anyone. A selfish wish I had, but I wanted the lone king to at least once think about herself first. It is funny and also to a point scary how a ficitional character can captivate one so much. It has been several years since I played F/stn for the first time and I still feel the same. Fawning over someone that doesn't even exist. From the beginning to her well deserved end in Avalon, what a stunning person. Thank you to anyone that brought himself to read this wall of text of a guy rambling about cheesy things. Keep doing what you think is right, as I keep chasing a star. Have a nice day.

Shirou often says things that sound sexist, but Shirou is overprotective to literally anyone. The "Girls shouldn't fight" phrase of his is highly annoying for example. Even more so after he has fallen in love with Arturia. It's also quite problematic if the first thing you think about when someone wishes someone happiness is that it is meant in a sexist way. She could literally do anything she wants if it makes her happy.
That's just silly. A woman doesn't have to deny her gender to be strong or anything. She doesn't hate being a woman, it just never had anything to with her being King. It's about a girl who never had a chance to experience being a normal girl until after she died as king and then some. Even then, give her a sword and she'll still kick anyone's butt. In FGO that's what she does actually, remains a heroic to save humanity. In vanilla Stay Night she doesn't have a reason to keep fighting. Besides, Saber and Shirou are always saving each other both physically and mentally.
I would argue Shirou's "girls should not fight" rhetoric was only to disguise his own PTSD on letting people get hurt because of him, his own view of becoming a shield for others manifested in that chivalrous mindset....as Otakudaikun says...Arturia and Shirou are essentially the same character, living with only knowing how to protect others before themselves and giving everything for that purpose, falling into despair(Archer represents the Arturia who fights in the wars before being changed by Shirou), and having to learn their ways of living were never wrong and they should never regret them. That is why they understand each other more than anyone else and fall so easily for each other into such an indestructible bond. People who get into Fate through Zero or UBW ufotable adaptions really irritate me, because they only get a small part of Arturia's characterization as a character and expect her to always just be some one note badass warrior who has no fragility or thoughts for herself deep down, or else she just somehow a weak damsel(despite never once being in a compromising situation in the visual novel like being kidnapped)

The rest of the nation, including the 12 regents/lords of Britain, stayed loyal to her to the death. The only knights who join Mordred's rebellion is half of city Camelot's garrision force. And that was after 3 extensive years of secretive preparation by Mordred. The rebellion only manages to somewhat succeed because it catches the nation by surprise & Artoria and her main military was overseas during a long campaign at the time. Even the knights who joined the rebellion knew that they were in the wrong, and that they were driving the nation into chaos.We even get a 3rd person narrative in the Apocrypha VN among the rebellion acknowledging that they were dooming themselves & the people, but continue to persist anyways just to see "how far Mordred could go". Conflict in Britain had been long gone by that point after the 12 big battles, and people didn't want a civil war - especially not with Artoria's massive evacuation plan almost in completion. Btw, none of the Round Table members left out of frustration with Artoria. Tristan left because his love lift happened to go down into the gutter, and couldn't focus on his knightly duties at all so he leaves while making an off-handed comment for leaving; when he finds out what occurred due to his comment, he completely hates himself and regrets making such a statement. Lancelot left because he had no other choice but to leave after his affair with Guinevere & killed Gawain's siblings to save her. Even Kay only wanted to leave because the country was a bunch of internal fighting idiots, not because he was frustrated with Artoria. Expanded lore materials pretty much debunk the whole myth of Artoria "not understanding the hearts of others" or "being hated by her people". Artoria herself, however, did believe those claims to be true, and blamed solely herself for all the tragedies around her. Which basically leads to her getting trapped in the endless loop in search for the Grail under the contract with the World.

Realta Nua added and replaced a few scenes, (which are now canon over the original version btw), but that's about it. And all 3 routes are separate timelines.
Artoria may be my favorite character of all time (That or Edelgard or sans) A existence as tragic as hers yet heartwarming is rare. The frustration i have most regarding Arturia is with fans who somehow can't bridge the gap between Zero and FSN(or the VN Fate route Arturia and the ufotable anime adaptions). I understand that it can be hard to see different sides of her...but it doesnt mean one side is more or less valid, they just exist as parts of a whole. Personal opinion is personal opinion, but acting like its sacrilegious for her to even have a valid love interest in Shirou is beyond the pale. Again, not trying to be unreasonable...i understand there are people who like/dislike Fate route for their own valid reasons, Nasu himself has said he would love to upgrade it and make it way better if given the chance. But that has nothing to do with whether Shirou's place in Arturia's life is valid or not, or whether she deserves a chance at a happiness she had never allowed herself or been given the opportunity to experience
Well, he did feel regret after what he done, so he asked artoria to punish him. But what artoria did was practically forgave him and that just made lacelot feels much more regret than before
The best love interest for Shirou Emiya is Artoria Pendragon (Saber). That's adorable and cute in fate and last episode. So Artoria (Saber) can be considerably the main love interest of Shirou from this series of fate.
Again this debateable due to Fates series nasuverse multiverse (which is complicated ;-;) meaning all three love interests are main ones, Though one can say Saber could be the main due to her always being with shirou side in all 3 routes, (besides the final part of Heaven feel *sniff*) But yeah again debatable but still Saber best girl
They should make this 3 part movies too. This adaptation of King Arthur story is amazing. I have watched Fate´series 5 years ago and back then I really did enjoy watching it. And now after learning about this video, I can truly say, Fate´series is truly amazing. Also, that final for Artoria touched my deepest feelings. :(

Side materials state that she has the appearance of a girl a year older than Shirou (who was 17), and an appearance of a young woman in her late teens. So she was near her 16th birthday when she picked up Caliburn.
You're absolutely right. That said the latest Fate/Grand Order translation of Camelot declares her 16 when she draws the sword. Conflicting info so I just went with what I liked better. She looks older than 15 to me.
At least according to the mats regarding both Lartoria vanilla & Alter, their "growth spurt" is roughly how Artoria would have looked like if she grew up normally. However, Rhon's excess magical energy caused their certain body part to get its exaggerated size. Possibly some other things - it's not natural growth. Side materials also state that Artoria appeared to be a woman in her late teens, so 16 makes sense. That time is also the later stage of female puberty. Edit: grammar
So what was Vortigern doing after Uther fell? Britain was apparently just without a king, so he didn't take over his land, and it seems like he just left Camelot alone while they were building it up, until their big battle.

Ah, Artoria. One of the first 5-stars to come to my Chaldea. She's my favored Saber in FGO and I made sure to use her against Lartoria in the Camelot Singularity. Hail to the King of Knights!
If the Fate Route ever got remade, I don't want them to adapt the true ending of that route. Instead, make Saber a human and live out her days with Shirou. A true happy ending. I know this is a controversial decison and I know it's a little cheesy. But honestly, she deserves this. After everything she had to sacrifice and after all that pain she went through, Artoria deserves a chance to have a happy life. For once let her be selfish.
Good thing her chatacter development makes her let her past go, cuz Zero pretty much shows us how much of an incompetent leader she was for her entire life. It really shows us that any kind of Fingercracy is bound to fail, even more if said leader is just there to fulfill a so-called prophecy that was just there just to conplete Uther's plan whatsoever.
That's a rather grim way of looking at it. Iskandar and Gilga were criticizing her less for what she did as king, but why she did it, claiming her self sacrificing nature couldn't truly inspire her followers.

The frustration i have most regarding Arturia is with fans who somehow can't bridge the gap between Zero and FSN(or the VN Fate route Arturia and the ufotable anime adaptions). I understand that it can be hard to see different sides of her...but it doesnt mean one side is more or less valid, they just exist as parts of a whole. Personal opinion is personal opinion, but acting like its sacrilegious for her to even have a valid love interest in Shirou is beyond the pale.
Again, not trying to be unreasonable...i understand there are people who like/dislike Fate route for their own valid reasons, Nasu himself has said he would love to upgrade it and make it way better if given the chance. But that has nothing to do with whether Shirou's place in Arturia's life is valid or not, or whether she deserves a chance at a happiness she had never allowed herself or been given the opportunity to experience

So Artoria (Saber) can be considerably the main love interest of Shirou
from this series of fate.

Again this debateable due to Fates series nasuverse multiverse (which is complicated ;-;) meaning all three love interests are main ones, Though one can say Saber could be the main due to her always being with shirou side in all 3 routes, (besides the final part of Heaven feel *sniff*)

The Dark Imperial Well... i love it too, in fact i think is better than the 2014 Ufotable soundtrack. It has more personality. And i enjoy quite a lot watching that version from time to time (but let's be honest, Deen did a pretty bad job) .

You're absolutely right. That said the latest Fate/Grand Order translation of Camelot declares her 16 when she draws the sword. Conflicting info so I just went with what I liked better. She looks older than 15 to me.

At least according to the mats regarding both Lartoria vanilla & Alter, their "growth spurt" is roughly how Artoria would have looked like if she grew up normally. However, Rhon's excess magical energy caused their certain body part to get its exaggerated size. Possibly some other things - it's not natural growth.
Side materials also state that Artoria appeared to be a woman in her late teens, so 16 makes sense. That time is also the later stage of female puberty.

So what was Vortigern doing after Uther fell? Britain was apparently just without a king, so he didn't take over his land, and it seems like he just left Camelot alone while they were building it up, until their big battle.

I was hoping there was already info in lore on that period to build from, but I think I can try to fill in some of the holes with what I've got.

If the Fate Route ever got remade, I don't want them to adapt the true ending of that route. Instead, make Saber a human and live out her days with Shirou. A true happy ending.
I know this is a controversial decison and I know it's a little cheesy. But honestly, she deserves this. After everything she had to sacrifice and after all that pain she went through, Artoria deserves a chance to have a happy life. For once let her be selfish.

Good thing her chatacter development makes her let her past go, cuz Zero pretty much shows us how much of an incompetent leader she was for her entire life. It really shows us that any kind of Fingercracy is bound to fail, even more if said leader is just there to fulfill a so-called prophecy that was just there just to conplete Uther's plan whatsoever.
That's a rather grim way of looking at it. Iskandar and Gilga were criticizing her less for what she did as king, but why she did it, claiming her self sacrificing nature couldn't truly inspire her followers.
