Not enough people react to this classic film. Truly is a cult classic with amazing music and top-tier action from everyone. Thank you for reacting to this one.
Showed it to my buddy, he laughed his ass off said he can never ever take any musicians biopic serious without thinking of Dewey Cox... This film is like the Scary Movie of biopics!
You have no idea how happy I am that ANYONE is doing a Walk Hard reaction. This is my favorite comedy of all time and I quote this movie so often. The unrated version is 2hrs of complete happiness
@@leob4403 lol, try to not make judgements about people far more interesting and wise than yourself on social media. I rarely if ever do drugs, don't drink, don't smoke; and I'm sure you often find yourself at the end of a bottle. I'm sorry that you lead such a sad, miserable life that you find it necessary to make such comments on YT. Btw if you do research on people like Charles Grobb, Stanislov Groff; you will find that there is incredible research being done into the use of psychedelics into the treatment of many mental disorders, including addiction, depression, and end of life therapy. They don't help stupid though, so there's little hope for you.
I got cast in this film as a man at the high school talent show. I have a conversation with Dewey's mom & dad about her vertigo (which was supposed to be the cause of her death later on). When they changed the way she died that scene got cut out, but the vomit take I did over Dewey's song stayed in.
That's amazing! Now you're forever a part of one of the funniest comedies of all time in my opinion. This is so underrated, and I feel like so many people haven't heard about it but anyone I introduce to it loves it.
A classic bro, so glad you reacted to this. Crazy thing is that John C Reilly actually sang all the songs in this movie and played guitar in a lot of them. Pretty sure the soundtrack was either nominated or won a grammy. Before the movie released he even went on a small tour and performed the soundtrack live, tour was called Cox Across America lmao
When it comes down to it, the story and message in this movie is beautiful. In the end what mattered was him loving and spending time with family. Nothing else.
Literally NOBODY reacts to this movie! Such an underrated comedy & I love that it was you to react to it, your natural charisma makes films like these all the more hilarious!
This mother fucking movie is so funny, I still can’t stop quoting it like 15 years later. “Wrong kid died” “more blankets and less blankets” “you don’t want none of this Dewey” “and you never once paid for the drugs”
This movie is so darn funny! And the music is actually really fantastically made. My parents grew up through those decades, so never mind cracking up throughout the movie, they loved that the music and artists they were mimicking were so spot on. And as a movie lover, I loved the movies they were poking fun at as well.
If actually know the history of 20th Century music this is an absolute MASTERPIECE!!! As a 35 yr pro musician with Nashville pedigree I've seen it countless times & still discover hidden gems of inside jokes. Otherwise is just another funny movie! ✌️🌎❤️
The fact that they just up and created two songs that would have been sure fire hits in their given eras (walk hard and beautiful ride) is mind blowing to me.
You can get the full length soundtrack. John C Reilly did an amazing job. He also sings in Chicago, but gets killed right away. I have some Irish folk songs that he did too.
I used to be a salesman, then I trained other salesmen, and as part of the training, I used to show my trainees the scene in the bathroom where Tim Meadows tries to "dissuade" Dewey from smoking dope. The moral is that, whatever excuse the potential customer has not to buy, there's always a counter to tell them that that excuse is bullshit. _"It's too expensive."_ "It's the cheapest plan there is." _"I don't want to get locked into a monthly payment."_ "You can cancel any time." _"I already got it."_ "Then get it as a gift for somebody else." And so on, so forth. That scene really made the point very well.
It’s a shame to say growing up he was just the Talledega, Adult Swin, Step Brother. He’s fantastic in the 2 films above and The Sisters Brothers, Gilbert Grape etc. sheeeit he brought voice acting chops to a movie about video game references that had no right to be that good
@@gogousa6661 still quote Talledega to this day lol. “Cal do you not understand the implications of your actions? We are no longer friends!” I also can’t believe I forgot to list What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and Boogie Nights.
@@jakeitnbakeit Haha good stuff. I tune out during meetings and still hear “ if you wanna get down on these...why don’t you jump right in!!” from Step Brothers on the regular. 🤣
It's based on many artists. Jerry Lee Lewis with the young wife. Monkey and giraffe, Michael Jackson. Some Johnny Cash references. The Dewy Cox Show was spoofing The Glen Campbell Hour show. Was compared to Bob Dylan. Acid trip with the Beatles. Taking yrs to write the perfect song was Brian Willson of Beach Boys. Probably alot more that I missed.
When I was in high school, I’d come home high and a little drunk after partying then throw this movie on. I’ve probably seen this movie at least 100 times.
This movie came on the heels of a couple very popular music “biopics”. One for Ray Charles called “Ray” with Jamie Foxx and one about Johnny Cash called “Walk the Line” (both would make for great reactions but I think Ray is superior) and elements of both are combined for this story with references to Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys and others added as well. Music “biopics” have been around forever and seeing them spoofed so well especially when this came out was so exciting especially for fans of the music. You can tell that John C Reilly is one too cuz the original music for the movie is both spot on and hilarious.
"This was a particularly bad case of someone getting cut in half" 🤣so many great lines in this movie but that's my favorite because it sets the tone for the movie after the initial shock of the machete scene.
Mr Video, the whole point of this film is to parody the ultra-predictable story arcs of biopics of famous people, like _Coal Miner's Daughter, Walk the Line, Ray, Bird,_ and many others. They all run the same route, and that's just the music ones. I'm longtime friends with John C, and he knocked this out of the park. So did Jenna, Tim Meadows, Kristen . . . pretty much everyone in it. With a lot of help from Kasdan, Apatow, and the hilarious songs from Dan Bern, Mike Viola, Graham Parker and others. If you've ever been annoyed at a biopic, going "Oh, I guess now is when they get into drugs and go on a power trip," this movie is a masterpiece. (Disclaimer- the other movies I mentioned are all great films, but they are all super-formulaic.)
Its a parody of the movie Walk the line which was about Johny Cash. Most of the stuff in this movie were exaggerations of things that Johny Cash went through. His little brother actually did get cut in half accidentally on a table or ban saw.
@4:30 I always loved how the last woman ripped her blouse off. That there was such spirit and effort in a short amount of time. No such thing as small roles.😂
Literally this film lifts events and kind of makes them over the top.. From Johnny Cash (Walk the Line), Ray Charles (Ray), Glenn Campbell and Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys being the biggest direct influences. Lol.. This was a must click reaction for me. This movie was criminally slept on during it's original release...
“You know who’s got hands? The Devil! And he uses them for holding!” Is my second favorite line behind “It takes all your bad feelings and makes them good. It’s a nightmare.”
Saw this in theaters with a bunch of friends after graduation. I have never laughed so hard in public. Doubt I ever will again. I had sore ribs for a couple days after literally.
It was a parody based on the Johnny Cash movie, Walk The Line, with a few other tributes to other biographical rock movies. If you haven't seen Walk the Line you oughta check it out, then you will get a lot of the references in Walk Hard.

The line delivery of:

Cracks me up every single time. Tim Meadows is great in this movie
Cheap as it is it's still not good if you never once pay
The most underrated comedy of the last 20 years
Absolutely
Such an underrated movie!!
“And you never once paid for drugs”
Not even ONCE!
It's wild how NOBODY reacts to this

Those bathroom scenes got me rolling! "Dewey! Get the fuck out here! You don't want no part of this shit!"
