    Great video! I have done the painted neck and peg-head option, and it is incredible. I will run for Congress (hopefully in 2026) and see if that "heads of state" thing pans out (*laughing*). I believe in music education and kinetic learning (like a shop class)-Warmoth products are great for both. My skills as a musician rose after I built my first guitar. Knowing your instrument and building it places more personal value on it. I now cringe when I see bands smash their equipment. Custom options make it more your thing, and people ask me what kind of guitar I play, and I tell them, "I built that." I like telling people about Warmoth. Thank you!

    I have used Warmoth bass necks and have built my own bass necks. I find that if the fretboard is perfectly flat and the frets are carefully pressed, a full level and crown are generally not required. Maybe a few frets might need a minimal amount of work, not every fret. If they are hammered in or if the fret wire is poor quality, then all bets are off. At least that's been my experience.
    So far I have been pleased with the 5 Warmoth necks I have.

    Those are awesome options. But I could name a few options I wish Warmoth had. 1. Rounding the finger board edges before the frets are installed. Have like a few options of round overs. Light, medium, heavy. I can do it on a finished rosewood neck no problem or an unfinished maple neck. But to really do it right I am going to have to start ordering necks without a finish, frets, or a nut. 2. Speaking of nuts, bone nuts would be the next one. 3. Nitro finishes. 4. Would be a heavier poly finish option. While sonically a thin finish is great. But a really flat high gloss finish is the sacrifice. 5. Would be more 9.5-14 compound radius' in the stock choices. Seems like all 10-16 radius ' like half and half would be awesome. That being said. Warmoth still provides a great service. Where else can you pick and choose parts? Unless you have a CNC machine or you are a highly motivated builder at least they get you halfway there. Me personally I find myself assuming more and aspects of the build with each build. Making my own nuts, soon to be installing my own frets after reshaping the finger board. And doing nitro finishes. Doing my own humbucker over routes as well. Still appreciate the freedom they help provide to build our own guitars. And not be so dependent on the mega guitar corporations. Not going to drop names. Am much happier building my own guitars.

    25.5" or 26.5" scale for 7 strings?
    The 7 string community has avoided warmoth because of the 25" or 28" scales only.
    Really need something in between the two for only mild drop tunings and maintaining 16# of tension per string

    • @spastickitchen
      @spastickitchen 9 місяців тому +1

      In my humble opinion, 25.5" is on the short side for a low B. I have a 28" Warmoth 7, and I love it, but I know that is crazy long for most people. What is so weird to me is that nothing else Warmoth makes is 25" or even a 25" plus or minus any number of frets, so it's just such a weird choice to me.

    I'm curious about the attraction of an LP-style PU selector on a tele. I hate them. I find them to be noisy (at least the old-fashioned relay sort of switch - maybe they have modern look alike switches that are better now?) and it makes custom wiring mods (for example, series option) harder. And they are prone to turning at wonky angles if they get a bit loose over time (which they all do), whereas the tele and strat style blade switches never do. Of course, everyone has their preferences but I'm wondering if I am missing something.

    My next project is likely an Iceman body to go with the Warmoth neck on my Strat after I get its original neck refretted with SS frets and reinstall it on the Strat.
    Is it possible to get that with a Fender-style blade switch near the knobs in the control compartment instead of the Gibson-style toggle switch up by the neck? Could it also get the middle pot hole enlarged to be a Gibson-style toggle switch hole? I like to set three-pickup guitars with a 4P2T special on-on-on switch set up to configure the middle pickup position on the 4P5T super Strat switch to switch between middle, bridge+neck, and bridge+neck 1/2 out-of-phase....

But I cant find an electric guitar with a 52mm nut for, seemingly, any price. I have to go to a custom shop, like you all, and have a custom neck made. Is it possible to get a vintage style neck in a wizard profile? It’s not an option on the website, or at least it wasn’t last time I customized a neck. And is vintage toner an option across the board or just for certain woods? Because there have been times where it wouldn’t let me choose that option with certain woods, but I feel like that should be a simple thing to do.

    Would you guys do reverse VIP controls where the toggle switch it closest to the bridge? I find myself switching pickups much more than I mess with the volume. Also would a pickguard/front routed Soloist be possible at some point?

    the headstock paint thing has been a lie twice for me. I called in for my first build back in 2010, told me they don't paint headstocks. Built a second one in 2018, and once again told me they don't, even though I even mentioned one of these videos back then said they do. Not sure what happened but maybe I'll try again for the 3rd time in the future..

      One of the reasons off-menu options are off-menu is because we can't always offer them on a consistent basis. For example, if our paint department is massively backed up with standing orders at the time you call, we won't have to capacity to take on custom finishing job that is outside our normal production flow. At other times it would be no problem.

    • @warmoth
      @warmoth  10 місяців тому +1

      Yep, it is an intrinsic part of the Tele C and Tele D design. But in both those cases the bodies are top-routed and the switch is mounted on a pickguard, as opposed to being rear-routed in the Les Paul fashion.

    The only option I want is a big bodied Tele. Big as in 16" body width to be the same size as a full size semi-hollow guitar. Same Tele shape, just scaled up while keeping the proportions of the outline correct. I'm 6-6" and make "normal" guitars look tiny.
